What’s wild is the Samoans all killed Paul tonight and Solo is the brands top heel, right. He’ll be feuding with Roman when he gets back.
Solo has won a total of THREE matches on TV in the past YEAR (and two PPV matches)
June 14 against Owens September 1, 2023 against Styles June 23, 2023 against Sheamus
Goes to show you it’s all about presentation and wins/losses don’t matter when the company decides to get behind a guy.

He’s been the muscle in the group for Roman though so it still makes sense.

Storytelling matters.
That's where AEW could be different in using rankings to make a difference, but they can't seem to manage it.

Also, Heyman is about the best thing going when it comes to holding a crowd in the palm of his hands. He was outstanding in this segment. Someday we need MJF vs a Heyman guy.

I know AEW loyalists hate this but it really does seem at times that we are at our rich friend’s house who has every action figure and he determines the dream matchups. We’re just happy to be in the same room with all those toys.

Tony owning the thing is great. Tony trying to do everything, including booking, isn't.
He needs a guy (or guys) to help keep track of things and plot things out.

AEW does do elaborate storytelling, but they need to do it with more consistency and with more angles. The Hangman build to the World Title was fantastic, the vignette they showed last night was filled with callbacks and if you’ve been paying attention there were a bunch of Easter eggs.
Consistency is key. Do it more often and build interest in storylines instead of just throwing stuff together last second.

Fantasy matches are great. But overall story is more important. And this to me is why I don’t think Tony is a good booker. He books for the minority, die-hard iwc. Easter eggs and dream matches of wrestlers who don’t have mainstream power don’t sell tickets, consistently. He’s more worried about impressing Dave and his readers than properly building great, compelling, easy to understand stories for the larger audience. Tony has also become too much of a talking head for the company now. He’s lousy on air. He should be pushing MJF to the moon and make him the main talking head for the company. Get his ass mainstream and build a true star.

Just watched Heyman's last couple of weeks on TV again. It's a damn shame we'll never get Paul Heyman movie starring Paul Giamatti.

The most depressing thing about all of this is realizing the promotion I booked when I was 12 would have steadily lost its audience.

Caught the end of the show. They continue to make the Samoans (Jacob Fatu especially) look strong heading into Summerslam, but the beat down went so long. The crowd booed them at the end when they posed, but it was quiet when they were kicking Randy’s ass
Cody being forced to watch and yell “YOU DONT WANT HIM, TAKE ME!” was hokey as shit, but I get it. Felt like The Walking Dead and trying to lure the walkers to eat him
Glenn is Cody I guess that makes Randy…Maggie? Haha

I guess Men in Black would be a better comparison with Cody as Tommy Lee Jones and Randy is Will Smith
But I prefer TWD as that means Randy is Maggie

I turn on Smackdown to catch the last 20 minutes and it’s a fucking Nia Jax tag match right now.

I turn on Smackdown to catch the last 20 minutes and it’s a fucking Nia Jax tag match right now. For as entertaining as WWE has been in storylines, they still have Nia vs Bayley for Summerslam and the story is based on Bayley having a fat ass and Nia is dangerous in the ring. That’s where we’re at in main roster womens storylines. I mean there’s truth to both sides, but still.

A....Final Boss perhaps..... Then I said to the board, "when Solo is out there, they're chanting for The Rock. Should we pivot and give the fans what they want at SummerSlam?"

DIY dropped the titles to Fatu & Tama Tonga tonight
Smart move to put them on Fatu & Tonga and have Loa be the guy outside. Those two are the best in ring guys of the Bloodline. Give them an Uso length run, they’re both awesome.
