The last station I kind of watched open was Goff's in Atlanta. There was fanfare, but it seemed thrown together. You'd think with the planning that goes into starting a station, it wouldn't seem as disorganized. Unless the stream deal and pulling Finfer on day two was for promotion. ;-)

The Spiegel show has no chance if Mac leaves, they will kick his fat ass out of there and quick. His quarter ton beatnick ass belongs on XRT and doing a weekend baseball show. When Mac leaves this show will be the boat anchor on ratings.....just like it was last time he left. |

On my way home from the other house, I heard the intro for the Oliver Purnell show hosted by Laurence Holmes. I switched to 87.7 with the hopes a dying giraffe was hosting with the the Fabulous Sports Babe.

I'm surprised to hear it. If anything, I think he's jacked up the personality side to keep up with modern day sports talk. I'm not saying I like it, but it's a trend. I've been a Kaplan guy since I listened to overnights with Kaplan and Kozimor in 1994. A teenage Drop In, all jacked up from drinking Sunkist Orange all day, awake until 3 AM. It's funny how people talk about the "good ol' days" of Chicago sports radio. When The Score was at their early peak, I was listening to WMVP. Lance McAlister, etc. When I'd turn The Score on, Brick would say "LOUD NOISES" and I'd turn it off. It was screaming and nonsense. I'm going to give this 87.7 a real shot. If nothing else, competition brings out the best in everyone. |

I haven't paid attention to him much on radio to be honest. I thibk he is boring as fuck on tv, not to mention he comes off arrogant with nothing to back it.
Maybe radio is a better medium for me to give him a shot.

I added the MLB network tier so I think every single station that carries games is on here but with the games blacked out. its 1741. Its actually not a bad listen. Kap is far less of a douche than he is on that sports reporters style show he is on. Its way better than listening to sensitive grimace.

I have been on this bandwagon for a while now that i get CSN and leave kap and haugh on tv in the mornings. I had it on the radio today over wscr and it was good again. I used to hate Kap but in this role I like him. Now that shitshow afternoon drive mess needs to be fixed for this to happen. They have to get a real signal though and probaly Mac.

I had been tuning more frequently over the summer and have officially switched over now that Mac is gone. I'll still stick with Mully and Hanley for mornings bc they're really good during the football season. but otherwise I'm a Game and WSSP guy now

I disagree with many of his thoughts. But I guess I'll never understand this level of passion about a radio host. If you don't like it, don't listen. I started listening to sports radio in 1994. I only listened to WMVP, even thought WSCR was far more popular. WSCR was the sports radio NWO. Every time I turned on the Score, it sounded like nonsensical yelling. As a yut, I would cringe and change the channel. Lance McAlister, Norm Van Lier, Les (yes, that Les), and Kaplan and Kozimor were my shows. I've been a Dave Kaplan guy, in a Mike and The Mad Dog world, since 1994. |
