Dude has a ton of passion for the industry which I dig. I always hear about the king of trios tourney and you always hear rumblings about them but I cant say that I've actually seem any of their product.

I haven't really watched either. I listened to Quackenbush on Colt's podcast and was intrigued. Then he was on episode 4 of Mike Bennett's podcast and I wanted to find out all I could. At National Pro Wrestling Day in February, the time traveler character who disappeared last year showed up in a Delorean.
I'm sold and will go out of my way to follow them.

CHIKARA got me familiar with some of the indie guys I grew to like. Despite seeing a few IWA shows, I never got to see guys like Chuck Taylor, The Colony, The Osirian Portal, Gargano, Quack. I was only really familiar with Eddie Kingston & Delirious, but it's a really entertaining promotion. Very funny too.
CP Munk & Colt Cabunny "Best in the Woods" is easily one of the top 10 funniest things I've seen.

The extent of my CHIKARA viewing has been watching Eddie Kingston who was their grand champion (maybe still is?) wrestle Kevin Steen for the ROH title a while back. Hear good things about the colony and some of the other guys, but is it all DVD or do they do some iPPV or anything like that?

They do iPPV. I've always heard great things about the company but only recently started paying attention.

1) BDK (Tursas, Ares, & Nokken) vs. The Spectral Envoy (UMB, Hallowicked, & Frightmare) Winner: BDK (Ares pins Frightmare via Ragnarok)
Notes: Tursas returned to CHIKARA and attacked the Envoy with the BDK. Hallowicked & Frightmare hit an incredibly sick Crucifix Bomb/Yakuza Kick combo. Good back and forth action, with an attempted Headless Horseman being turned into the Ragnarok for the win. Milo Schnizler was at ringside with the BDK.
2) Chuck Taylor vs. “Smooth Sailing” Ashley Remington Winner: Ashley Remington tap out via Anchor’s Away
Notes: Taylor did NOT come out in F.I.S.T. gear. Remington debuted and played the technico in the match, to nobody’s surprise. Remington’s submission finish looks a little like a modified Haas of Pain, and the crowd was super into him and his entrance theme at the end of the match. He actually had his valets who came to the ring with him bring him a fruit basket to give to Chuck Taylor post-match. - Brief segment introducing Robbie Ellis to the crowd. Ellis gets a huge pop and refers to CHIKARA as a work of art, thus explaining why he purchased it. At some point, this also brings out Mike Quackenbush as the new Director of Fun to a huge pop, still with his cane. Instead of a “Welcome Back!” chant, Quack gets a “Welcome Home!” chant. Quack expresses his marvel at the attendance of the crowd, and then thanks them and the viewing audience for sticking with them.
3) The Odditorium (Sinn Bodhi, Oliver Grimsley & Qefka the Quiet) vs. The Batiri (Obaryion, Kodama, & Kobald) Winner: The Batiri via DQ when Bodhi hit a low blow.
Notes: The Batiri were announced on commentary as having crossed over to the Technico side. Strong match, helped really introduce Grimsley & Qefka to the audience who has yet to see them. Great moment with Sinn telling the Ref it was two and the crowd chanting “THREE!” back to him. Kobald’s new gear looks great. Post match, Kodama almost hit The Demon’s Toilet on Qefka before Sinn made the save. If this is a long term feud, I’m excited to see what happens.
4) Juan Francisco de Coranado vs. Jervis Cottonbelly Winner: Juan Francisco de Coranado via German Suplex (and a bit of foul play with Jervis’ mask!)
Notes: JFdC is probably one of the better guys to come out of the Wrestling Is groups and actually has built enough of a reputation to get a good reaction when he came out. Jervis was also incredibly over, and where else but CHIKARA can you get a “TAKE THE FLOWERS!” chant? Good back and forth match, and it looks like JFdC may be the heir of Icarus’ former “Worst In the World!” chant.
5) 3.0 (Scott “Jagged” Parker & Shane Matthews) vs. 17 & DeviANT vs. The Pieces of Hate (Jigsaw & The Shard) vs. The Throwbacks (Mr. Touchdown & Dasher Hatfield) Winner: The Throwbacks (Order of Elimination: 3.0, 17 & DeviANT, Pieces of Hate)
Notes: Great new mask for Jigsaw, probably my favorite of the new looks so far revealed on the show. Crowd pops huge to know The Throwbacks are the TWGP Champs. Shane Matthews & DeviANT starts. It is now revealed that Princess Kimber Lee “purchased” the CdP for Knight Eye for the Pirate Guy, and that this match isn’t for points. Call me a fan, but Shane Matthews looked amazing in this match in the early going. The crowd has been exceptionally hot for The Throwbacks and it seems like 17, DeviANT, Jigsaw, and The Shard may indeed have some sort of alliance going, though it’s still unclear. 17 got the elimination and I missed which member of 3.0 it was, and Dasher eliminated DeviANT. Kid Cyclone & Equinox came out after the elimination of 17 to seemingly come after him, but Hallowicked brought them back to their senses. If you’ve seen Ashes, that makes sense. The commentators did a great job of putting over the fact Dasher & Touchdown are now wrestling their third match in 24 hours, which made Dasher look like a bigger face in peril. Touchdown hit an AMAZING delayed superplex on Shard that really made him look fantastic to put him away, and it looks like Touchdown may be a firm Technico now as well. Probably the best match on the card so far, and a great way to go into intermission.
6) Jimmy Jacobs vs. Archibald Peck Winner: Jimmy Jacobs via backspring cutter & a shoe.
Notes: Jacobs along with several other rudos were entering from a side entrance and not the main one. He was also accompanied by two men in suits and plague doctor masks, just like at NPWD. Jacobs attacked Peck during his entrance, but didn’t keep him down for long. The crowd was firmly behind Peck, and it only made for a better experience watching at home. One of Jacobs’ minions hit Archie with a shoe, leaving him vulnerable for the cutter and the pin. Decent match.
7) The Colony: Xtreme Force (Arctic Rescue Ant, Missle Assault Ant, & Obrit Adventure Ant) vs. The Colony (Fire Ant, Green Ant, & Worker Ant/AssailANT) Winner: The Colony: Xtreme Force (Missile Assault Ant pins Fire Ant via Missile Launcher & foul play)
Notes: Xtreme Force had CombatANT with them, and The Colony got the biggest reception of the night. GREAT new gear for AssailANT, who is now officially Worker Ant. Xtreme Force also came down with the King of Trios medals owned by The Colony from 2011, which did nothing short of enrage the other trio. Also new gear for Green Ant, which I’m assuming has something to do with the next step in his character evolution. Great double and triple teams from both sides, which made for fun to watch. Green Ant hit this amazing double springboard DDT that proves why both he and Fire Ant may be some of the most underrated guys out there these days. Not to say Worker is behind, because he’s not. Have I mentioned these six guys did some AMAZING and innovative moves and spots? Missile Assault Ant is looking to be one of the better ones on the opposite side, but we’ll talk about that in my review. HUGE Ant-apault by the crowd just seemed to further energize them. A missing turnbuckle removed by the Xtreme Force and a Missile Launcher by Missile Assault Ant later, and we have a winner. Post-match, The Colony got their KoT medals back…but isn’t Worker Ant’s really Soldier’s? Hmm…
8) Eddie Kingston vs. Icarus (CHIKARA Grand Championship Match) Winner: Icarus via CHIKARA Special, becomes the 2nd Grand Champion
Notes: Kingston got the heavy boos during his entrance and played his heel role perfectly. his act doesn’t always translate in CHIKARA but he warmed the crowd up perfectly for Icarus. AMAZING new gear for Icarus, who looked like a superhero (and rightfully so, considering the story). Good back and forth, and it really let the crowd get into the match. Commentary put over the fact that Eddie has been champion since the title’s inception. They put over Icarus’ meaning to the locker room by having it empty to come watch him, and it was just one of those little things that added to how important the match was. After playing up his difficulty to pull off some of his biggest moves, Icarus finally hit the Blu-Ray and followed it up with a CHIKARA Special for the victory. May it be said that Kingston didn’t submit but passed out. Huge victory for Icarus and starts this new chapter of CHIKARA in an interesting matter. A huge “YOU DESERVE IT!” chant for the new champ.
