The WWE roster would be a big pile of shit right now if it wasn't for the indies. Pun intended?

This happened I believe before the Orton tweets too. RKO party in PWG!! Randy should be fuckin flattered.
Adam Cole's mannerisms are on point with the shaking he does.

Jeff Cobb and Matt Riddle had a helluva match at Night 1 of Progress SSS16.
And he gets Pete Dunne tomorrow night.

Good ol' Chucky T, always taking one for the team. Drops a grenade down his opponents tights, hits an atomic drop & blows up his knee in the process.
Then, in his off time, asks questions like this.

I just used the Cornette face as a bit when I posted it. He went on a twenty minute rant about that spot on his show a couple days after I posted it.

Plus it's in Chikara.
I mean they are like Lucha Underground in that they exist in their own universe.

There's a place for comedy in wrestling & Chuck Taylor (and CHIKARA as a promotion, they're a kid friendly company) definitely is good at it. He's also a really good wrestler too (he's backed off on comedy lately). Not just one note.
I like it.

It might be dumber than the dick spot. However, unlike Cornette I'm not going to tell you what to like. I absolutely hate everything about it, but knock yourselves out!

I know not everyone will like it. Cornette was sent a short clip (I think it was a 3 Stooges clip where people did eye pokes to everyone) & then went on an entire rant about how PWG & all the wrestlers who wrestle there will never & should never make it in the wrestling business.
Look at the current WWE/NXT roster & the amount of people who have come from NXT is insane. To say that motherfucker is out of touch would be an understatement.

Right, but I think talent and booking a match can be different things. Personally I'm not sure if it's great for business but again, kayfabe is dead.

I mean, CHIKARA has been around for a long time (mid 2000's if I'm correct) & they've been doing silly stuff like that for forever.
You could also make a point in asking was Mankind doing Mr. Socko great for business? Was Santino doing the Cobra great for business? I'd say no, but crowd went apeshit every time they did it, so if it works, so be it.
Joey Ryan suplexes people with his dick. It's a stupid spot & I agree it's fucking dumb, but hey, he gets booked because of it & people pop when they see it & expect to see it in his matches. So if he's making money, good for him.
Guess it's just a matter of taste. Kayfabe has been gone for a long time.

Agreed. I will say Mr. Socko at least was still a mandible claw. You could technically do this to someone and it probably wouldn't feel great. The cobra having a mind of its own, terrible. I don't mind comedy completely in a match if it's accompanied with a move that can still be somewhat legit. That grenade and dick spot break every piece of kayfabe possible. I do agree that if you keep it within a promotion - or their universe - that is fine. It's definitely not a universe I'd ever bother to visit. Like I said, you guys can love it and that's fine. My opinion is I hate it

Yep.
That's why there's chocolate and vanilla.
It may not be someone's particular favorite, but it isn't objectively "bad" like Cornette said.

Definitely, I like that there's a wide variety of wrestling out there. It keeps people interested in wrestling as a whole. It doesn't have to be the same exact carbon copy of every other wrestling company. Jim Cornette doesn't see it that way & thinks it's still the late 80s & just shits on everyone who thinks otherwise.
That said, Cornette can fuck right off, I will never apologize for thinking CP Munk & Colt Cabunny is funny. From CHIKARA 2006.

I don't really know Cornette's thoughts but I'm assuming I'm a lot like him as far as what him and I both like. There comes a time though, or at least there should, when you realize you're kind of an old fuck and need to understand that other generations just might enjoy things that you may not. I'm pretty much speaking of myself at the moment and not even so much Corny. I've gone through this whole thing. Lucha, some PWG, a lot of comedy wrestling, the Broken stuff, Joey Ryan's penis, the slo motion crap stuff (sorry, my bitterness snuck through for a moment) etc.... just isn't for me. And that's fine. What's also fine is that a ton of people love a lot of that stuff. I don't spend time trying to tear it down or those that enjoy it but I will from time to time just give my honest opinion (which probably means ripping it) but that's fine too. I've been drinking a bit. Watch what you damn well want to watch.

Way too far a drive for me, but that's a stacked card.
I miss indy shows in my hometown. We used to have like 1 a month and they'd get a name draw too. That was of course like 10 years ago, but I miss those days.
Wish Rollins & Marek Brave would put on shows from or near their wrestling school, which is 2 minutes from my house.

In case you guys ever wanted to hear The Bucks, Cody, Hangman Page & Marty singing their version of the Evolution theme song. It's hilarious.
Cody also leads the ROH crowd in saying Fuck The Revival. You can buy the shirt on ProWrestlingTees now. I assume they're going to sell quite a bit of those.

The next ep of Being the Elite is up. They've reached 100K subscribers on YouTube so that means......time for Kenny's DM to be released. For those unaware, they've been essentially building up this Kenny Omega dick pic that he accidentally sent the Bucks, who accidentally sent the DM to Dave Meltzer. Now that they're at 100K, they take a vote and The Bucks want to release it, while Marty & Kenny don't want to.
Matt puts the phone down at the end of the episode & they all walk away. Red Shoes walks up to the phone, starts giggling at the DM and hits send. Kenny's pics are shown with Okada's face & then the briefcase from G1 covering his junk.
It's so weird, but some of the funniest stuff in wrestling. If you want to kill some time & be super entertained, watch them from the beginning. They're pretty great. Guys just having fun while on the road constantly.

2004 IWA-Mid South was fucking loaded. Especially the Ted Petty Invitational Aries, Claudio, Nigel, Quack, Roddy, Shelley, Sydal, Danielson, Styles, Joe, Punk, Petey & Hero (among others)
Man I miss independent wrestling in 04-05. I got to see most of these guys when I was in high school too.

Ted Petty's family got a broken light bulb and $4.22 in the mail. Knowing Ian Rotten, he probably made them pay for shipping on it too.
I'll never forget one IWA show, Tito Santana was promoted as being there to wrestle Larry Sweeney (it was in 2005 I think) and Ian came out right as the show started and announced Tito wasn't there due to "missing his flight". So after he really ramped up & got the fans going for the show, he then offered a refund (which I don't think anyone took, hell, I had drove like an hour with my dad & I wanted to see Jimmy Jacobs vs Tyler Black). Main event of that show was Ian vs Corporal Robinson in a Fans Bring The Weapons match, which ended up being them hitting each other with 2 things & just brawled around the building for 10 minutes.
Granted it being 2005 and Tito isn't really a big draw, but still, it was my 1st time being at an indy show where a talent "missed his flight".
99.9% sure Tito was never booked on the show to begin with.

Ian is another that stands above the rest in a sometimes scummy business. I've never heard a single person say anything good about him.

I will say that IWA did bring some insanely good wrestling near my town from 04-06. And Rollins damn near wiped out my dad during a dive once.
