Alcohol use aside, The Dominican Republic has one of the worst fatality crash rates of 2nd world countries. It is three times higher than the US (and ours is very high compared to other first world countries -- 2x higher than Australia, 4x higher than Sweden). Drinking may have been involved, but the drivers in the Dominican are horribly untrained -- driving on the wrong side of the road, not paying attention to signals, vehicles that aren't road worthy, etc. I feel very lucky we made it safely to and from our hotel there. On the five mile road from the airport to the hotel, there were crashes all along the road.
If I were a GM of a team, I might ask my Dominican players to not go home in the offseason. Pretty damn dangerous. Englewood might be safer.

Thank you for the clarification. No it was not obvious because that video in the tweet showed many, many more people walking peacefully than the handful of idiots causing trouble. You used one word, "idiots" to describe the video, so it's not a stretch to think you meant everybody in it.
That's the thing about incomplete or one-word responses. You leave a lot of things open to interpretation.

You seem to be avoiding my question. I guess I'm missing something here. Doing violent acts is idiocy. Totally agree. But there were thousands of people walking down the street carrying signs, breaking no laws and being peaceful. They are idiots too?

Exactly. Thank you. I get all that and agree with it. It's the "tribal behavior" I referred to.
What confuses me is you calling the protesters "idiots". That I don't understand. Some surely are by being violent, breaking the law, etc., but there were thousands of people peacefully walking the street this week and throughout our history to protest one thing or another. I don't understand why these people are idiots to you?

Eventually someone has to be the bigger man and do things right. What does being the "bigger man" and "do things right" mean ? Not exercising one's right to protest? That is being the bigger man? So if people exercise a Constitutional right to protest, they are small?

Why does the Tea Party have to be the be all for the people that disliked Obama? I don't recall anyone suggesting it was. I just brought it up because it was a similar kind of protest with thousands of people exercising their right to protest and each had people with bad behaviors. And I've used it to demonstrate that some people have selective memories and attitudes that favor their tribe. Some people who oppose these protests didn't oppose those. And some people who opposed Tea Party protests don't oppose the ones today. That's the context of the comparison I made, not that either group represents the people who dislike Obama or Trump.

Thank you.
I think we disagree on a fundamental issue. I don't have a problem with protests or people protesting. I don't oppose people excercising their Constitutional Right to peaceably assemble, any more than I have a problem with people exercising any of their rights. Some behavior may be idiotic, and if people people break the law, they are arrested. As it should be.
There were thousands of tea partiers years ago and people today who were peaceful. And there were many arrested for not being peaceful in both cases.
You can cite all of the events in American history that happened because of protests. And think of all the things we would not have today if it were not for protesters that caused change.
The problem I have is the hypocrisy and tribal behavior, not with people exercising their Constitutional right. But you seem to have that issue. Good to know.

Did you say the Tea Party were idiots when they were protesting, stopping traffic, attacking others, carrying signs disparaging the Obamas and threatening a revolution? Just checking.
Selective outrage is one of our problems in this society. Defend or ignore bad behavior as long as you agree with them and attack others for the same behavior, is endemic to both tribes. And I say tribes because supporting your side while attacking the "opponents" for the same behavior is tribal, not political.

Just got home from drinking with friends from high school (who only Woodridge would know). Waitress brought over 7 shots for the 7 of us standing there, but 4 of them left, so 3 of us remaining said fuck it & combined all of them and did them all together (and gave a cheers to UTHS, which again, only Woodridge would appreciate)
I'm feeling delightful right about now. Our uber used to live in Boston & he told us stories about the Red Sox as he drove us home. Needed to share that because I have a hard time believing I'll remember this in the morning. Thank God for this board. oh I very much appreciate UTHS, especially kicking their ass in Soule Bowl, on the hardwoods, and on the links at Short Hills. I never much cared for orange and black either. Except my parents went there. So I got muted cheers when we housed Dad's alma mater.

Cheaper and protects the beer better. Even with amber glass bottles light can alter the taste of the beer, no chance of that with cans. Also from a distribution perspective, less of a footprint in a truck and can ship more. And aluminum cans get colder, and stay colder, better than glass. It is easier to stock coolers and refrigerators with cans. No matter if my beer comes from a bottle or a can, I pour it into a glass. So funny....Back in my yute, I did PR for THE aluminum company. I wrote those words for marketing brochures and in PR releases trying to convince people of it. It was a challenge. 35 years later, the beer intelligentsia gets it.

We will have bets for the degenerates (and chasers). This Saturday, we have two college football games -- the East-West Shrine game and the Collegiate Bowl. Start studying...lines up Friday. Next Saturday, the Senior Bowl. Next Sunday, the Pro Bowl.
Somebody will watch this stuff. And surely, some degenerate will bet em. It'll be right here for ya.

Update: I made mistakes on Hawg and KS totals for the week as I missed their plays on the Green Bay game. (But the Dallas defense also missed plays in the Green Bay game too, so I have company with my mistakes.) The addition of two winners for both of them increased their $$ balances, but didn't change the order of the standings.

If you would like to bet a moneyline (betting a team to win the game outright, rather than with points) for the two NFL games this Sunday, you may do so. On the sbr site, just click "moneyline" bets to see the current numbers.

Chus Re-Takes The Overall Lead With $500 Week
Chus rode winning $300 bets on Atlanta and New England to a winning week and he re-takes the lead in the contest. Only three weeks to go -- the conference championships, the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl. So the number of available plays is getting short, though I will spice things up a bit with various prop bets for the NFL conference championships this weekend and for the Super Bowl. I may even have a bet for the true degenerates for this Saturday.

Coast, on my New England AFC play, are you grading it as 830 to win 500, or 500 to win 301.20? Thanks for asking. I usually grade bets to win the flat amount, so it is to win $500. I think I mistakenly put $500 tho in the pending bet amount, not $830. If you want the $500 to be the bet amount, rather than the win amount, me know.

I give it maybe three or four months or the first blowup with Russia, whichever comes first, and we will see the videos of Trump with the prostitutes peeing on him. They probably have other stuff too, including secret financial deals and whatever. Those will ultimately come out too. You know the videos exist. You don't think the Russians went to all that trouble to blackmail Trump and don't have the hidden camera videos to prove it. Of course Trump will deny everything and say it's fake news.
I give it maybe six months before we learn that Trump people were involved in talking to the Russians about hacking during the campaign, but again the Trump tribe will say it's all fake news.
Crying "fake news" every time an unfavorable story comes out will be one of the chief propaganda tools of this administration. It was a key part of his campaign and he got away with it. So get used to it.
