20-23-1 Nothing like an 0-5 night to make me question everything I'm doing. For years, playing bad teams under was a staple of winning seasons. But with the rules changes and teams playing much faster against comparable opponents (most teams used to play slower in close games), maybe "bad teams over" is now the better angle. Then again, there were two bad picks, two beats on ridiculous shooting and foul fests and one loser on 10 meaningless points in the last minute from benchwarmers. Short-term variance happens.

WEEK 13 RESULTS & STANDINGS Congrats again to Hawg Ass, whose favorite song this week is "Paint it Black" as he is back in the black for the season after a few bad weeks put him in the red. His comeback is a testament that it can be done if your cahones are large enough. He was at the very end of his bankroll just a few weeks ago, making literally his last bet. KS was in the same boat earlier in the year. Their comebacks are great, but they both have work to do to win this thing. Ryan took the week off and maintained his lead, but Chus had another winning week and is now in a strong 2nd place. Just a few college games (hello NCAA FCS playoffs) and the NFL this week before the Bowl fun starts next week, beginning with a six pack of bowl games next Saturday, Dec. 17.

Two more for Wednesday:
Western Michigan Cleveland St under 145. L This game has bounced around like a yo yo today. Went down, so I passed, then it came back up to the opening price. I make it 135, so it's a play for me at 145. Both teams shoot poorly, WM has a bunch of freshmen that haven't shot well on the road, CSU had finals today...all kinds of reasons to play this yawner...at the right price.
Wisconsin Idaho State over 133. L This is a bit of a different play today, playing an over with a "slow" team like Wisky, but Wisconsin should own this game from the opening tip tonight. It will be a total blowout. And because of that, I expect Wisky to find shots quicker, get just about what they want and have some happy happy fun time tonight. Idaho State actually shoots above average and while their defense blows, I figure they could get 50 tonight. I'm looking for Wisconsin to hit 90 as two other teams with much lesser-quality offenses have done against the potato heads.

Wednesday Adds: Kent St. Niagara under 145.5. L Another game in which both teams shoot poorly (under 50% in effective fg%, which is a measure of two-point and three point shooting. The national average is 50.1.) Niagara also likes to play at a slowish pace, which hopefully will slow Kent down a bit (though they are just average pace overall and includes some fast opponents).
Eastern Illinois Northern Kentucky under 146.5. L Another "bad teams under" play. Similar profile as the other two today -- poor shooting and neither team particularly fast pace.

20-18-1 One so far. Had several on the cusp, but being disciplined in getting the right #s. Had a few potential unders move down (X under, West Mich under) so passing those.
Fullerton-San Diego under 138 L Had this one move up from 135 (I really believe this is a setup to get a better price and will come back down). Still remember the Saturday game with USD that was a solid under until Northern Ariz played an epic 7 minute foul fest that led to 52 points in the last 10 minutes (most on FTs). SD is a solid under team, at least in the 130s against most opponents. They shoot poorly and play slow. Fullerton a bit faster, but they also shoot poorly.
May be others, depending on line moves.

That is one of the reasons why I created this contest. Give people the "fun" of betting without actually risking their $.
And then there are the guys (none here) who would claim how great they were at betting until they had to put up or shut up. I remember being on another site once where there was some wise guy wannabe goombah who would tell us every monday how he went 5-0 over the past weekend. UntilI I challenged him to a contest and he was under .500. I do not claim to be a good football bettor, but I kicked his ass. He never did pay me the $500 he owed me either. Lol. Fortunately, no goombahs or welchers on this site!

As we start to bet bowl games early, please note on any future picks what the date of the game is if it is not in the current week so I don't miss it or count it in the wrong week.

This might be Dman's last stand. $100 on each of the following: Denver -3 -135 BM KC +5 -108 Pinnacle Houston +6.5 +102 Pinnacle Philly +2 -108 Pinnacle Detroit +6.5 -107 Pinnacle SF even -108 Pinnacle (I want the Bears to lose.) Rams +13 -102 Pinnacle Baltimore -3 -125 BM Oakland -3 -102 Pinnacle Tampa +3.5 -114 Pinnacle Washington +2.5 +104 Pinnacle Giants +6.5 -100 Pinnacle Dman, you did not have enough bankroll to make all these plays. You had enough for the 10 bets through Tampa, so those all count. The bottom two do not count, which is nice for you as they were both Ls. So you were 6-4 on these, giving you roughly $1341 back in the bankroll.

Buffalo Bonnie over 148. W 3.5 point move makes this a play. Buffalo ran with Creighton the other night and Bonnie plays fast also. Bonnie games also have a lot of fouls called. They are good at drawing fouls (above avg at FTA/FGA) , but commit a lot too (near the bottom in FTA/FGA defense).

WEEK 12 RESULTS & STANDINGS
Congrats again to Week 12 winner Woodridge Ryan, whose strong week has now put him into a big lead with just 5 weeks left in this contest. Ryan has not yet qualified to win the season's crown with the required minimum 75 picks, so he still has work to do to win the title. And with a bunch of college bowls and five weeks of NFL left, you can be sure others will try to make a run at him.

The only haymakers I am throwing are at people who watch cable tv for most of their information and truly do not know or appreciate facts and data. Ryan and I likely share the memories of how different it was when we went to Journalism school and our early career years working in the media. I would bet Ryan also shares the sadness at how the industry has changed to respond to so many peoples' desire to be willingly duped by media by believing only those things that their chosen advocates in media or public figures tell them to believe.

What is your favorite team and coach Kesha? Give me 5 minutes and I can find the same type of criminal behavior from players and "gutter trash" fans that you are singling OSU and Meyer out for. I'm not defending him, just that this kind of stuff you bring out is everywhere.

Cmon Ryan, you know facts and data don't matter to the majority of people who get their news on tv. Research has established that people who get most of their news from tv choose the tv networks they watch based on their beliefs, not on their desire for a fair representation of facts. Many who watch msnbc are no different from many Fox viewers...they tune in to hear their side's talking points.
I forgot one...private sector job creation --14.4 million with Obama, (-400k under Bush). But of course that fact doesn't matter to some either.
