Monday Update All kinds of possibilities and intrigue this week. Kesha had the best week, going 3-0, but with a six play minimum, he can't win the weekly prize. Four guys are only a play or two away from winning, and maybe even more guys than that can win if they step out with multi-unit plays.
Here is where we are:
Kesha +3.0 on three plays. Can't get three plays out of tonight, so he can't win the week. Piglet +1.9 on four plays. He would need two plays tonight to be eligible to win the week. Terry's Peeps +1.8 KS +0.9, Bengals -10.5 pending Monday night Kirkwood +0.6 Coast -1.7 Hawg Ass -2.6 Jackref -2.7 Chus -4.3

I think you made my point. Isn't it the coaching staff who is responsible for making the receivers and OL perform to their capabilities? Good coaches make good and bad players better. Bad coaches don't.
And if the QB is "scared", isn't it the coach's job to fix his head so he's not?
I look at what Fox is doing in Chi as a comparison. That team seens to be getting better every week. Can't say that about GB.

Green Bay is an also-ran. Their talent is much better than this. Time for McCarthy to find a new line of work. Fool me once....

Wow. Tough decision. I would wait until right before the Seahags game and hopefully, you will know if Lynch is going to play. If Lynch goes, then you have Bernard and Lynch. But if Lynch doesn't go, do you go with Rawls or Hill. Rawls will get likely get more touches, but against a tougher defense. With the Hill/Bernard combo, you can figure you are going to get 25-30 points (our scoring system) from both of them combined. With Rawls in the mix, I'm not sure you can say that.

If we make Putin so strong he comes to own Syria and Iraq, it might actually be preferable to the Islamic anarchists in charge now. The psychopath we know might be preferable to the ones we don't.

We know where the bad guys are, but are afraid to kill civilians. If the commander in chief gives the order to "win" no matter the civilian cost, the military will win. Problem is most politicians don't want the oposition that would come with that. With Obama having just 14 months left, maybe he will do it. And if he does, we should not be alone. They shot down a Russian plane so Putin might go too. France will go with whatever they can bring, which, compared to US and Russia, probably isn't much.

And by the way, lest anyone call me a chicken hawk...my son is in the Air Force, working on weapons systems on the F16. He is ready to go and give his life if he has to in order to get rid of this scourge. More ready than the pussy scaredy cat civilians and politicians who paralyze us.

This thread has great examples of the thinking that makes us so vulnerable.
"Can't bomb innocent people." With this kind of thinkng, we would have lost WWII. We are so afraid of killing innocents, we are paralyzed from taking out the bad guys.
"Can't do a war right because we did it wrong last time." So we just do the minimum--- close the borders, build a wall and hope that works in keeping out terrorists. Hell we can't even stop white male kid terrorists and we think this will stop professionals?

The world has had tyrants before who indiscriminately killed people who were different than them. In the 20th century, the only way they were eradicated was by war and bombs. It took Pearl Harbor to get us engaged in WWII. Will they have to hit our shores and kill how many thousand Americans before we take their war seriously enough to nuke them out of existence?

I am thinking maybe baiting is a cultural/historical thing that traces back to the days when folks needed to kill animals to eat. It was a better way to assure food. Wisconsin has a similar heritage as Texas where fishing, hunting and trapping were what kept people fed and that culture remains strong in those states today. Old cultural vestiges don't go away, they are handed down to the next generation. I just would not call that kind of hunting sport. Fishing with nets is sort of the same thing.

Deer hunting here involves guys sitting in a blind and baiting the deer with corn feeders to come real close to their blind. I asked a guy how close deer are when he shoots. "About 20 yards". Yeah that's some "sport".
I have hunted...but hunting pheasant in Iowa involved walking and chasing birds, not baiting animals to come to the gun. Two very different things.

It is deer season. I know because I heard gunfire this morning from a farm that adjoins a corner of my property. In a state without gun laws, it really is the wild west. Those who support free open carry and unrestricted gun use should have hunters firing toward their yard and see how that works for them. A call to the police was met with, "people can do on their property what they like."
When there are no gun laws, anybody can be an outlaw.

Ohio State Nebraska Bama This thread is great. You can just be any bum off the street and offer absolutely nothing to the board and still participate....and win money. I appreciate the feedback. When I started this, my intent was to make something fun for board members. I think that part has been reasonably successful, but I did not anticipate people just hopping in to the board for this and nothing else. Honor and integrity are important values to me and I do not think it would be right to change the rules in mid-year. If I do this next year, I will consider this critique. Thanks!

I have tried this week to still care, but I can't lie...I have lost interest. I won't quit,, but probably just become another uncaring Nickloblaw. Maybe somebody can take advantage of me as some have of our other uncaring league members. Maybe I should put my starters on waivers so you all have a fair shot to pull a dropin.
Or maybe I will just be quiet and not care in silence.

Streb also was pretty funny talking about yardages. He was talking about how far he hits his 7 iron (175-185) and said his caddy will say "177, hit the 7." He said the on course reporters repeat that and lead people to think that PGA players can hit their irons that exact to within one yard or even five. He said they don't. If a caddy says 175,177,179, 181 or 183, he hits the club exactly the same. And he said most guys do too. Nobody is that exact.
Edit: He was referring to mid and long irons...for short irons, especially inside 100 yards where they are hitting their gap, sand or lob wedges, they are that exact within a few yards. In fact, if the yardage is say 83 yards, they could hit all three of those clubs to that yardage, plus or minus a few. Which club they hit of course depends on a bunch of things...lie, wind, green contours, etc.

The guys were asked what players they liked playing with...
Merritt said he loved playing with Ernie Els. He said so many on tour are so into their own games, that there isn't much conversation or real interest in each other. They don't say much or really exhibit much warmth. Ernie is very interested in knowing the guys he plays with and talks about a lot of stuff. Merritt said Ernie still asks about the family, other x things they might have talked about the one time they played together. With Ernie, he is very nice, very gracious and real...and that way with everybody. Streb said he loved playing with John Daly. "Daly doesn't care. He just cracks jokes, smokes cigarettes and drinks Diet Cokes all day."

yes, Troy Merritt and Robert Streb. They told some funny stories about guys on tour. They said playing with Tiger or Phil, the crowds are huge and once those guys hit, the crowd moves. They often hear the marshals yell, "Hold on please, we have one more player",
Game is coming...a few shots better today than yesterday. Nov 12 and I'm in early season form, playing golf in shorts. That's a pretty good WTF.

Little golf outing today with a few PGA pros. That was fun. They paired me up with a Japanese woman -- a real sweet beauty-- who is about a 5 handicap. That was fun too. I birdied the #1 handicap hole. She sank her birdie putt on top of mine. Even when I played a hole great, it was tough to get a skin from her. First time I have been smoked on the links by a woman. All good though.

I had a typo on the lines -- the Bowling Green Western Michigan total is 74.5, not 64.5. But since KS liked under 64.5, we will let him keep that bet........plus 10. Unless he doesn't want 10 points better.

TERRY'S PEEPS WINS WEEK 9, EXTENDS HIS OVERALL LEAD Peeps now only player showing a profit for the season
Terry's Peeps nailed the Monday night total and won the week, extending his lead in the season-long contest to nearly 15 units. If I recall correctly, he had a nice lead last year, but gave it away down the stretch. Will he keep playing or does he just pack it in and sit on his lead and tempt the others to come get him? Nah...Speeps is a player. Besides, with his record, he probably has a few more weekly wins in him.

Terry's Peeps wins the week with his under...and Bears win the game.
Kirkwood missed his opportunity to get in the money, refusing to bet on the Bears. This is a good life lesson learned for the young Cheesehead -- if you would .just back the Bears, you will be better off.

meanwhile i lose my second starter in as many weeks. But I won't bother trying to trade with Loblaw or Nick. I made both of them offers and neither even responded. They apparently only see trade requests from certain other people. Too much strangeness going on here.
This is the kind of nonsense that kills fantasy leagues...guys who are not real, or are not really playing, or make silly trades because they aren' t really playing or caring.
