I decided to start watching the Bond movies in order the last week and a half. I’m on Thunderball right now. First Bond movie I saw was Goldeneye and that’s really because of the N64 game. I’d never seen any of them previously.
Sean Connery is a fucking badass, but some of the acting is hilariously bad. I know it’s the 60s, but still.
You Only Live Twice is up next.

The level of cheese intensifies with Roger Moore. He takes the character in a more suave ladies man than badass direction. Moonraker is hilariously awful. And by the time he did View To A Kill he was so old it was cringey. I thought Dalton was a good Bond but didn't have great material to work with. I loved Brosnon as Bond and The World is not Enough was my favorite Bond movie until Craig in Casino Royale. There is no doubt that Craig is the all time best Bond IMO. He brings the grit, the charm, the intensity that the character needs. He gets the ladies but it isn't a focus like with Moore and Connery. I haven't seen the latest one yet but I know I need to before it gets spoiled.

I obviously only have Brosnan to go off before Craig but I agree Craig is fantastic in the role. I’ve enjoyed his run. I haven’t seen the last one yet either. It’ll take me a while since I’ll probably watch it when I’m done with all these old ones.
Not sure I want to rewatch all the ones I’ve seen already yet though.
I’ve heard conflicting things about the Lazenby movie. From it sucked to being ahead of its time. We’ll see.

If you like traditional action movies you will hate it. There is no middle ground with that one LOL I think you will want to rewatch the ones you have already seen because you'll see the evolution of the franchise and see how they hold up now and compare to the older ones.

I decided to watch Diamonds Are Forever first before On Her Majesty’s Secret Service to just wrap up the Connery arc.
There’s a moment in that movie where a villain is trying to start his ATV and Bond pops up behind a hill, gets a running start and hits a leaping big boot and the villain sells it like he got hit with a shotgun.
I almost cried laughing.
Lazenby is up next. Probably get to it this weekend.

I watched it this morning. Lazenby was fine, but I thought as the movie went along he was doing more and more of a Connery impression than being himself.
A fucking bobsled fight with Kojak? A henchman got thrown into a snow chopper? The Bond puns were so forced “guess he didn’t have the…guts?” all while Bond was skiing with his woman. I mean I know they usually are and that’s the joke, but holy smokes.
BOND OUTRAN A BOBSLED GOING FULL SPEED!
The last few minutes were pretty great though (despite Kojak surviving and just had a quick neck brace on to fix him up). Not knowing what happened to Bond’s wife made me like the ending. I can see how over the years the movie has become more appreciated, but seeing it for the first time, it was more ridiculous than anything.
Also the 8,700 camera cuts during the fight scenes? Fucking Kevin Dunn produce this?

Because the first game was a blow out and I’m putting off mowing/yard work to tomorrow I decided to watch Live and Let Die. I should’ve did the yard work, haha.
I get it was the 70s but the unnecessary racist Foghorn Leghorn of an officer the last 40 minutes of the movie was insane. Also zero clue Solitare was Dr Quinn Medicine Woman until the credits.
This was my least favorite so far. But you weren’t kidding with the cheese factor. Holy shit. And you said it gets WORSE?!?

The Man with the Golden Gun was fucking ridiculous.
Goodnight is a moron The way Bond dispatched of Tattoo at the end was insulting on so many levels They brought back Col. Robert Parker's brother for no damn reason WHY DID THE VILLAIN NEED THREE NIPPLES?!?!?
Roger Moore did practically nothing that entire movie
The Spy Who Loved Me up next

The Spy Who Loved Me was actually pretty enjoyable. Mainly because they kept the ridiculousness to a minimum and Barbara Bach has been the most intelligent Bond girl and was refreshing that she wasn’t an airhead.
Moonraker on the docket next. You’ve warned me ahead of time jackref.

Holy shit Moonraker sucked ass. You undersold it with the cheese factor!
I don’t know if I enjoyed For Your Eyes Only so much because it was after that Moonraker turd, but that one was the best Roger Moore one I’ve seen. It was real good stuff.
Octopussy I’ll watch tomorrow night probably. Bond is looking old at this point.

Octopussy, the action was pretty good (albeit ridiculous), but master of disguise Bond was hilarious. Him hiding in a gorilla costume? Also you have to believe the director wanted to fuck with him making him dress up as a clown for like 2 minutes. Thankfully we're wrapping up Roger Moore with A View to a Kill next. He's fucking snowboarding to Beach Boys 'California Girls' to start this one? Plus he's aged like 15 years since the last movie, despite it only being 2 years previously. Having never watched any of the pre-Brosnon Bonds, I didn't even realize Midge from That 70s Show was a Bond girl, nor Christopher fucking Walken was a villain.
I'm going to do a full ranking after I've wrapped this up.

EDIT: I originally put this in the TV thread, I fucked it up.
I’m finishing A View to a Kill, Midge’s acting suuuuccckkkss. Grace Jones blows her away.
Had Walken not been the villain, this could be one of the worst, but he plays such a great psychopath that it gets the bump.
First half of the movie was fine, but then it turns into this ridiculous cheesy stupid finish.
80 year old Roger Moore running was comical. But Midge, goes running into James’ arms and DOESNT SEE THE BLIMP BEHIND HER AS WALKEN IS LOWERED DOWN AND SCOOPS HER UP?!?!

Oh and also this gem of a line when Midge & Bond steal a fire truck
Bond: put your hands on it Midge: … Bond: The wheel! The wheel!
Oh Bond, you and your dick jokes.

Oasis Live in Knebworth doc about their historic concert in 96 is fucking excellent.
They’ve always been Top 5 band for me and still wish Liam & Noel could get their shit together, but it’ll never happen.

No Time to Die kinda was underwhelming for Daniel Craig's last Bond movie I thought. Rami Malek was a let down as the villain and could've been so much more. Ana de Armas (who would be in my Top 5 hottest women in the world list) was only in the movie for like 5 minutes of a 2 hour and 45 minute movie! I was also a little bummed out (but understand) the ending.
We need a new Bond, so it'll be refreshing to see a new fella in the role. I'm hoping Idris Elba gets the gig.

RPat, very good Batman Zoe Kravitz is insanely gorgeous as Catwoman Paul Dano fucking rules as Riddler Colin Ferrell is unrecognizable as Penguin Liked the switch they did with Commissioner Gordon Choice for Alfred I didn’t care for
Overall The Batman was very enjoyable. Dark Knight level? No. But very enjoyable.

Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers movie is hilarious
Andy Samberg & John Mulaney do the voices. It’s part live action part animation. One is a cartoon and the other is CGI. They had a falling out and get back together.
Completely different than your normal reboot/movie

Watched Top Gun for the first time since I was a kid today since I'm watching the sequel this weekend.
Do I need to duck when I say it's not as great as I remembered (or thought I remembered)? Don't get me wrong, the action scenes are great and Tom Cruise trying to be an a hot shot which pisses off others is good. Val Kilmer is a great arrogant fella. But the whole love story of Maverick and Kelly McGillis was just boring. Also Maverick got over Goose dying pretty damn quick.
Tom Skerritt ruled though.

Top Gun Maverick is a really strong sequel. Does the original proud and doesn’t shit on it.
Tom Cruise is fucking great. Miles Teller is solid. Love me some Jon Hamm. Jennifer Connelly reminds us she’s still a babe. Dug the Val Kilmer inclusion as well.
Recommend it.

Clerks is in my Top 10 all time favorite movies. Clerks 2 was funny, but ok. I’m not expecting this one to blow me away or anything, but it’s nice to have the gang back for 90 minutes and just shut off my brain for an hour and a half. Happy they’re back.

Just watched a movie called Brian & Charles, it's a UK movie starring David Earl, who was Brian in After Life with Ricky Gervais. It's a sweet, funny & odd little movie and a quick 90 minutes. He's a pretty quiet and secluded inventor who makes a robot.

Clerks 3 was a great love letter to the View Askewniverse & it’s fans and farewell to the characters.
If you loved Clerks like I did, you’ll love the references/Easter eggs.

Watched a very interesting oddball documentary tonight called The Pez Outlaw. Small town man from Michigan travels to Europe to smuggle in rare Pez dispensers and made millions selling them. The US Pez company was after him and wanted to take him down.
Super fascinating.

I’ve recently been on this kick of watching old Siskel & Ebert episodes on YouTube and I’d just like to point out…
Gene Siskel gave The Big Lebowski a thumbs down and Speed 2: Cruise Control thumbs up
Roger Ebert also gave Speed 2 a thumbs up and also said Home Alone 3 was the best of the franchise
I love these two when they bickered, but holy shit those were some bad takes.
