Getting caught up on movies recently
Everything Everywhere All at Once is phenomenal and my favorite movie of the year. It’s incredible.
Marcel The Shell with Shoes On is a very sweet family movie that is based off a shirt that Jenny Slate made about 12 years ago. It’s very good.
Causeway is Jennifer Lawrence’s best acting since probably Silver Linings Playbook. Also Bryan Tyree Henry continues to crush in everything he does.
Currently watching All Quiet on the Western Front on Netflix

I have to watch Everything Everywhere All at Once. I hear nothing but good things.

I had a hard time comparing it to any other movie I’ve ever seen, which is the highest compliment. It’s a flawless movie. sci-fi, dark comedy, drama, action packed crazy original story.
Definitely find 2 1/2 hours to watch it.
Marcel the Shell and Causeway are both quick 90 minute flicks
All Quiet on the Western Front is about 3 hours. It’s a German film, but it’s English audio. It’s a fucking intense war movie (obviously).

RRR
Watch it on Netflix, thank me later.
I chipped away at it last night (it’s 3 hours) instead of watching election stuff. Glad I did, it was really good.

I was thoroughly entertained by Bullet Train
Despite it being a little too long, I loved the cast and it was the right amount of insane action wise. Brad Pitt is hilarious too.

Amsterdam sucks. Save yourself 2 hours.
Such a loaded cast, but felt like they just took the gig so they could use random accents.
Christian Bale, John David Washington, Margot Robbie, Anya Taylor Joy, Mike Myers, Michael Shannon, Taylor Swift, Timothy Olyphant, Rami Malek, Robert DeNiro, Zoe Saldana all doing accents.
Then Chris Rock talking like Chris Rock, which is kinda funny.

This is the peak of Hollywood. It's all downhill from here.

Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio is on Netflix and is really good
It should win visual awards and maybe score too.
I recommend

The Banshees of Inisherin in on HBO Max and is solid.
Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleason are friends on a small island off the coast of Ireland in the 1920s. Their relationship changes, and how they each react to that change is what the movie is about.
Farrell and Gleason are always great together, and this is no different.

The Outfit on Prime. Was not expecting that - incredible pacing, writing, and acting. And great twists. The entire film is in a 3 room tailor shop. Incredible.

Black Adam wasn't nearly as bad as some people made it out to be.
I enjoyed most of it, but the post credit scene doesn't really make much sense now given the latest Superman news.

A Christmas Story Christmas on HBO Max is better than it had any right to be.
Definitely worth a watch.

I wanted to like Babylon more than I did.
It’s so fucking long. And not enough Brad Pitt, who was my favorite character in it. Margot Robbie is good too.
Also Avatar 2 was solid, again, too long, but it’s Cameron, so I get it. There’s a sub plot I would’ve scrapped, but it’s obviously visually awesome.
That’s how I’ve spent 6 hours these last few days.

I don't remember the first Avatar at all and I really don't have any desire to see this one or any of the 50 sequels planned. The ride at Disney was awesome, but I just don't have any need to watch these.

I’ve watched 71 movies this year (yes I have a running list ranked from best to worst) and always try to see the award nominated ones. So Avatar was a must, even though I too barely remember the first one.
If I’m recommending a Brad Pitt movie this year, it’s Bullet Train. Movie was a lot of fun, really funny and action packed. Maybe a little long, but that’s nitpicky

Babylon already being called a flop.
I don't get that. It just opened here, hasn't opened internationally yet, and yet it's a flop.
Maybe give the thing a chance to get some word of mouth buzz going before you declare something a flop right away.
That said, the marketing for the movie was atrocious leading up to the release. Hopefully in the new year they do better.

Shit weather, tripledemic, Avatar 2 for those who decided to go see movies, they were fucked.
And it clocks in at a little over 3 hours. It could be 2 and I would’ve been fine. It’s long for the sake of long.

Glass Onion is pretty awesome. Bautista might be the best wrestler-turned-actor. That's a low bar, I know. But still.

He was very good on it. Liked Knives Out more overall, but liked the cast & Daniel Craig’s performance more in Glass Onion. Glad we’re getting more movies with his character.

He takes different roles, and he isn't just playing himself every time like Rock.

Creed III was pretty solid.
Jonathan Majors is the new big deal in Hollywood, and he shows why.
I was expecting a Rocky III moment in this movie but it was almost a Rocky V instead. And yet it was still good.

I’ll definitely check it out, I enjoyed the first two Creeds
Also if you like Majors, there was a movie called Devotion he was in last year about being the first black aviator pilot in the Navy.
It’s not a blow away action movie like Top Gun Maverick (though one of the new dudes in that movie co-stars in this movie as well), but it’s worth the watch.

I replaced the time I would spend watching NBA/NFL/RAW/Smackdown with movies.
I’m also not married and don’t have kids, lol
