It's a joke how many titles they have. Hopefully it is different. I'm not as knowledgeable as many of you with New Japan. Did the title thing just get out of control? Ego thing so multiple guys have titles while Okada, etc. hold the top strap?

I'm with both of you. While they have far too many titles, hopefully having a US Title will allow whoever that is, to defend it here & get more eyes on the New Japan product in the process.
Also wish they'd unify the tag titles in NJPW. The Junior titles are pretty much traded by Trent/Rocky and The Bucks every 5 months it seems. Just combine them.
I'm legit psyched for the upcoming months though for New Japan.

Going to get caught up on the Super J Cup this weekend. I've been able to stay spoiler free thus far luckily.
Reason for this post though, here's an update on Shibata & Honma.......
Just prior to the business strategy announcements made yesterday on May 16, NJPW trainer Takeshi Misawa was joined by Chairman Sugayabashi and President Harada to give an update on the health conditions of Tomoaki Honma and Katsuyori Shibata. He also outlined New Japan’s health policy for its wrestlers. Misawa firstly explained that Honma has been moved from a hospital specializing in cervical vertebrae to a rehabilitation hospital in Osaka. While his discharge date is currently unknown, he has begun muscle training at the gym with permission from doctors. His rehabilitation includes activities such as light running as well.
As for Shibata, his original condition was considered to be life threatening. However, after follow up operations he has now been moved to the general ward. While he currently has no trouble walking and talking, it is impossible to comment right now on any possible after-effects due to his condition. He is currently focused on being discharged from the hospital, so he asks for everyone to “send your shouts of support.”

I was watching the special G1 Press Conference they had on Facebook today pimping the roster who will be there for the US G1 Special in July. Omega, Cody & The Young Bucks were there & were awesome as always, selling the fuck out of the show.
So I looked at the June 11th Dominion card, the show to pretty much set up the US G1 Special and it's friggin stacked. I can't wait for this card!
Okada vs Omega for the IWGP Title Naito vs Tanahashi for the IC Title Suzuki vs Goto for the NEVER Openweight Title in a Lumberjack Death Match War Machine vs Tonga & Roa for the IWGP Tag Team Titles Roppongi Vice vs Young Bucks for the Jr Tag Titles Cody Rhodes vs Michael Elgin
Definitely see Omega beating Okada to even the score. Possibly then have Okada win the G1 tournament to set up Okada/Omega 3 for Wrestle Kingdom next year?

FUUUUCCCKKK!!! I just saw this on Twitter (AJ wished him a speedy recovery). 2 injury posts in 2 different threads. Hope Tanahashi gets better.
Translation: I was disconnected from the biceps. Not everyone who was looking forward to, I'm sorry.

AXS has caught up to February with the weekly show. My guess is they go on a one week delay after doing some live shows in the US. Mauro replaces JR.

Reminder tonight (or tomorrow morning) is the stacked Dominion card. Featuring the most highly anticipated rematch of the year.
IWGP Heavyweight Title Kazuchika Okada vs Kenny Omega
IWGP Intercontinental Title Tetsuya Naito vs Hiroshi Tanahashi
Lumberjack Deathmatch for the NEVER Openweight Title Minoru Suzuki vs Hirooki Goto
IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title Hiromu Takahashi vs Kushida
IWGP Tag Team Titles War Machine vs Guerillas of Destiny
IWGP Junior Tag Team Titles Roppongi Vice vs The Young Bucks
Gauntlet Match for the NEVER Openweight 6 Man Titles Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI, EVIL & SANADA) vs Bullet Cub (Bad Luck Fale, Adam Page & Yujiro) vs CHAOS (Ishii, Yano & YOSHI-HASHI) vs Suzuki-gun (Taichi, Kanemaru & Zack Sabre Jr.) vs Taguchi Japan (Juice Robinson, Ricochet & Taguchi)
Cody vs Michael Elgin
Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Jushin Liger, Manabu Nakanishi & Satoshi Kojima vs Tiger Mask, Tiger Mask W, Togi Makabe & Yuji Nagata
Should be a crazy card. I'll try to watch it in the morning. I'll stay off social media until then.
I'm picking.... Omega Naito Suzuki Kushida Cody Guerrillas of Destiny Young Bucks Bullet Club Tenzan/Liger/Nakanishi/Kojima
Thinking they go into the US G1 special with Bullet Club wearing almost all the gold.

Take an hour out of your day and watch Okada-Omega II.
Not sure I like how it sets up for Long Beach, but that match was outstanding.

Naito v Elgin from New Beginning in Osaka was tremendous.

Take an hour out of your day and watch Okada-Omega II. Not sure I like how it sets up for Long Beach, but that match was outstanding. Holy fuck that was incredible. As a whole, I liked the 1st match more, but the final 20 minutes of this one was some of the best I've ever seen.
Only complaint is Omega hit the One Winged Angel finally, a move he didn't hit in the 1st one, but that was like the 40 minute mark & Okada lucked out with a leg on the rope. Why waste that move then? I wouldn't have done that. Was fascinated by Cody possibly throwing in the towel. I mean shit, Okada hit like 7 Rainmakers.
That said, this sets up the 3rd. Neither man won (or lost), so nothing is resolved here.
Kenny doesn't need to win another G1 to get a rematch. He should get another shot. Use the G1 to get someone else over. Hell, have a rematch at the US G1 show where Kenny wins.
But I'd honestly rather have Kenny finally win the title in Japan & not the US.

I also get Don Callis is supposed to be the heel commentator, but it was overkill in this. I liked Corino & Kelly as a duo because neither was over the top in their role. Callis tries too hard to be a heel. Just don't like it.
Still have to watch the rest of the card.

Cody is challenging at the Long Beach show.
Honestly hope they don't get nuts and put the belt on him.
I can't imagine they do, but you never know.
And I agree on Callis. I loved him when he called shows on ECW but it's just overkill with the NJPW shows. Hopefully Mauro gets to call the English versions going forward.

I had no idea about Cody challenging. It makes sense, but I really hope he doesn't win it either.
Plain & simple, Kenny didn't lose that match (he didn't win either, but still). I don't think he needs to win the G1 to get another shot.
That said, they could have the winner of the G1 this year wrestle Kenny at some point & Kenny wins the briefcase and we have Omega/Okada 3 at WrestleKingdom.

They announced the IWGP US Title tournament bracket for the G1 Special....
Michael Elgin vs Kenny Omega Jay Lethal vs Hangman Page Juice Robinson vs Zack Sabre Jr. Tomohiro Ishii vs Tetsuya Naito
Those are incredibly solid opening round matches. While I'd love to see Omega advance far, I don't see this being a title he really needs, so I could see Elgin winning that.
Also saw on Night 2 Tanahashi defends the IC title against.....Billy Gunn. Welp, they can't all be winners!

Is there a link to this match somewhere? Just google "Watch Wrestling". There are several versions of the site that should have it.

Big Dave's star ratings for Dominion.
Young Bucks vs Roppongi Vice: 4 G.O.D. vs War Machine: 3.5 Cody vs Michael Elgin: 3.5 Kushida vs Takahashi: 4.75 Suzuki vs Goto: 3.5 Tanahashi vs Naito: 4.5 Okada vs Omega: 6.25
Look, I know Big Dave's star ratings annoy the living piss out of most of you, but the fact that this will drive people online nuts makes me laugh. It's 1 dude's opinion. Of course, that dude just happens to be my best friend, but still!

Just watched the match where Shibata delivered his last headbutt. I can't believe he was still using that in 2017.

Can't wait until they announce the Blocks. Little bummed Cody didn't make the cut, but really happy for Juice. Sabre as well.
Also cool that they're letting him be Kota Ibushi & not Tiger Mask.

Do they have other plans for Cody or is this just saying he's not seen as a top TWENTY guy?

It says he's on the level of Yujiro.
But seriously, they don't usually put a guy right into the G1 in his first year with the company.

I'm picking Omega vs Ibushi in the finals. That's the two I thought would be in the same block but aren't. Naito is the wild card in the A Block to me.
Thrilled we'll be getting Omega/Okada III out of the B Block though. They need to save it for the very end though.
Hope guys like Juice Robinson have a good showing. Also hope Nagata gets a few wins since this is his last G1. But guys who are in their last G1 usually don't get many wins at all.
