My only complaint in the Ospreay/Ricochet Super Juniors match (just finished watching it) were that they were super loud calling spots. Like John Cena level loud. I realize part of that is because they are wrestling in a somewhat quiet environment in Japan. That said......
HOLY FUCK THIS MATCH RULED! I've read people online criticize it being too flippy & not enough psychology, to which I say those people can suck a bag of dicks. Ricochet & Will Ospreay are known as the 2 BEST HIGH FLYERS IN THE WORLD, so why the fuck would you not want them to have as many flips as possible? Showing off their aerial abilities is exactly what you want in a match like this.
The crowd, who is typically quiet & politely applauds when something big happens, were ooooo'ing & ahhh'ing after every flip & it made the match even better IMO.
Ospreay hitting a springboard forearm & saying "Pip Pip Cheerio, Motherfucka!" was hilariously awesome.
Gotta get caught up on a bunch more Super Juniors, but this match ruled.

Big Wool knows what's up! It's nice to know that in between vigorous hip thrusting, he takes time to watch badass wrestling.

Big Wool is the complete package. (literally sometimes ) He would be completely believable to me, and awesome, as World Champion.

I'm getting hyped for this G1 again. I've looked at the field & I have my predictions set. Can't wait to watch it. It fucking ruled last year. Little slow at first, but it picked up big time at the end.
This year the field is pretty damn stacked. Say what you want about New Japan losing some big names, they know how to put on a show. Or in this case, a friggin bunch of them!

Sanada-Tanahashi and Marufuji-Okada were 2 solid matches on the opening of the G1.
Tenzan-Ishii was a hard-hitting match that was just a spot below the other 2 matches.
Makabe and Goto had matches against Fale and Tama Tonga so you can guess how those went.
Next show is Friday.

Much like last year, I was awake, ready to stay up late to watch as it happened, then fell asleep right after the 2nd tag match.
This will be a running trend for me.
I did however just watch the tournament matches just now. You could see the Okada & Tanahashi losses as upsets, which they are, but I think in the G1, they usually put favorites with a loss early & make them look like they have an uphill battle to win it.
Since we aren't doing the prediction game this year for this, I'll go ahead & say my pick.
Naito over Tanahashi in the finals. Naito gets his rematch at WrestleKingdom against Okada.

I agree about Naito but I can't see Tanahashi winning A block with how banged up he is.
Maybe a Goto or an Ishii.

Yeah I wouldn't mind either Goto or Ishii. Sort of wish Omega was in the A block, just because I want Omega/Naito, but I don't see that happening while both are big time heels.

Haven't kept up with nights 2 and 3, but watched night 4 today. Holy fuck Naito-Elgin was phenomenal.

I watched just the tournament matches from Night 4 this morning. Naito/Elgin was amazing. Big Mike has seriously found new life in New Japan, he's just awesome. If Naito doesn't win this whole thing, it'll be a travesty.
Shibata vs Nakajima was incredibly hard hitting. I'm always uncomfortable at how hard Shibata throws elbows & kicks. Just so brutal. Solid match though.
Omega vs Yano was hilarious. Omega is really a jack of all trades, bust his ass in a long match & also break out the comedy. Funny match.
Nagata vs EVIL was pretty good. Didn't think I'd like it as much, but Nagata can still go. 4 points already for him, pretty surprising.
Honma vs YOSHI-HASHI was really good I thought.
I watched the Super J Cup 1st round, so I fell behind on this too. Getting all caught up, but Night 4 was awesome of G1.

Night 8 of the G1 was phenomenal.
Elgin-Omega, Nakajima-Nagata, and Shibata-Naito were all awesome.

Just finished watching them. YOSHI-HASHI vs Evil was pretty good too.
The performances Nagata still pulls out is just incredible. Not every match is great, but then he has ones like this against Nakajima that leave just in awe.
Elgin/Omega was phenomenal.
Shibata/Naito I was surprised at the finish, but holy fuck that was hard hitting. The intensity they threw each other into the rails alone was insane.
Best night of the tournament so far.

Getting caught up on the last 2 shows. Holy hell Tanahashi vs Ishii could be match of the tournament! Just when you think Tanahashi is so hurt & he doesn't have a lot left in this thing, he goes out there with the hardest hitting dude in the company & puts on a show like that.
Not sure what they're doing with Tenzan. Would've thought with his career winding down he would've won more matches, but losing to Fale? Seriously? You can tell this is taking its toll on him though.
Literally have no idea who will face Naito in the finals (I'm assuming Naito is winning his block & probably the whole thing).
I'll stick with Tanahashi/Naito, but it's going to be a tough go for Tanahashi the rest of the way. Wonder it Okada will lose 3 of his last 4 matches? I know he fights tonight. Sort of don't want Okaga/Naito then Okada/Naito again at WrestleKingdom.

There's no way Gedo doesn't turn on Okada & align with Naito right? I always think it's going to happen & it never does.
Also, njpwworld has the entire 1994 Super J-Cup on the site. Benoit, Malenko, Guerrero, Taka, Gedo, Hayabusa, Liger, Sasuke & others. Going to start watching tomorrow.

I've been thinking that for a while as well. Especially after he beat Tanahashi at the Dome and there was no obvious next contender.
I don't know if I'd want him with Naito as I don't think he needs it. But Gedo turning is the next logical step.

Yeah it'll be interesting. Naito certainly doesn't need it, but pairing him with Gedo would put him over the top.
Just read that Okada/Ishii could be match of the tournament now from last night. Going to have to watch that later today. Ishii has been putting on some great matches lately. Wish his record didn't suck.
How the hell Fale has 8 points is beyond me. Never been a fan.

Fale seems like he's been their project for the past 3 or 4 years. Remember his Intercontinental title wins over Nakamura?

God, don't remind me about him beating Nakamura. That made so little sense, aside from maybe just giving Bullet Club the rub, which they really didn't need.
Now, stop what you're doing & watch Okada/Ishii. Holy fuck....
If this tournament has done anything, it's made me a bigger fan of Ishii. Okada/Tanahashi/Naito/Goto/Omega/Elgin we know all these guys are fantastic, but I just thought of Ishii as the guy who is stiff as shit with shots & who no sells the fuck out of forearms & chops. He's been the MVP for me with these last 2 matches.
Wish he had a better record to show it though.

Tanahashi/Marufuji was absolutely brutal in the best way possible. Tanahashi's chest was black & blue from the chops. Holy smokes this tournament started somewhat slow, but damn has it picked up in great matches here. Should only get better too!

I've been a fan of Ishii for a couple years now. You're right in that he's always kind of been the stiff worker but he's been able to deliver real solid matches with a variety of guys.
Nakamura and Styles leaving has given new life to some of these guys.

Can't believe Fale beat Okada. That's just ridiculous. However, if you look at the A Block, they have 1 night left for them & 5 people are tied with 10 points with Goto/Marufuji & Tanahashi/Okada! Fale/Tonga wrestle too, but I think Tonga wins & costs Fale his huge moment.
I could see YOSHI-HASHI beating Naito and Omega beating Nakajima to set up Naito/Omega for the final night of B Block.
We're getting to the end here & I'm sticking with my prediction I made originally of Naito/Tanahashi. This means Okada has to lose a 3rd match in a row to end the tournament to happen, so hopefully that happens.

Yeah Okada needed a loss so it makes sense that way. I'm enjoying this tournament more than the past couple years.

www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/4x1xfa/all_possible_winners_for_the_g1_climax_spoilers/Only 2 nights remain in the G1, 1 night for each block. Sometimes it can get a little confusing, especially when you have half the block still in the running. So to make things easier let's do some fun math and find out who can win and how they can win. A Block The A Block has 5 men all tied for first at 10 points. 4 of these men are involved in matches with each other. because of this, Makabe who is on 8 points won't be able to win. The 5 men in the running are. Bad Luck Fale, Hirooki Goto, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kazuchika Okada and Naomichi Marufuji. The Key matches to look for are Bad Luck Fale vs Tama Tonga Hirooki Goto vs Naomichi Marufuji Kazuchika Okada vs Hiroshi Tanahashi Let's explore the scenarios Scenario Result Regardless of other matches, Tanahashi wins Tanahashi wins A Block Fale wins, Goto wins, Okada wins Goto, Fale and Okada in three way tie Fale wins, Marufuji wins, Okada wins Bad Luck Fale wins A Block Fale Loses, Goto wins, Okada wins Okada wins A Block Fale loses, Marufuji wins, Okada wins Marufuji wins A Block No matter what happens in the other matches Tanahashi winning guarantees him the A Block, due to his victories over every other competitor in the running. In order for anyone else to have a chance, Okada needs to win. B Block Tetsuya Naito leads the pack at 12, following him are Katsuyori Shibata, Michael Elgin, and Kenny Omega at 10 points each Matches of note Michael Elgin vs Katsuhiko Nakajima Katsuyori Shibata vs EVIL Tetsuya Naito vs Kenny Omega Now any situation in which Naito wins results in him winning the block, so he's gotta lose for the others to have a chance Scenario Result Regardless of other matches, Naito wins Naito wins B Block Omega wins, Shibata wins, Elgin wins Elgin wins B Block Omega wins, Shibata wins, Elgin loses Shibata wins B Block Omega wins, Shibata loses, Elgin wins Three way tie between Omega, Elgin and Naito Omega wins, Shibata loses, Elgin loses Omega wins B Block With the scenario of Omega, Shibata and Elgin all winning. It puts 4 men on 12 points. When looking at their records against each other, both Elgin and Shibata are 2-1, and since Elgin won his match with Shibata he would be winner of the block. All men have a chance to win outright, Naito has better odds. Elgin needs to win alongside Shibata, Shibata needs Elgin to lose and Omega needs to win without the other guys winning.
