That right there is why I love this tournament so much. There's many times when we question why a certain guy goes over, but it ultimately leads to an exciting finish.
Look at how many possibilities there still are. Makes the last 2 nights a must watch event. Which I definitely will........only like 4-5 hours later because I can't stay awake that late because I'm a wimp.
BUT DAMMIT when I wake up I'm going to make sure to watch!

Based on what I think the results should be, Marifuji wouold win A Block.
I think Naito wins B Block.
Naito-Marifuji would be an interesting final, but I'm not sure that they trust anyone but Tanahashi.

I'm up, I'm tired, but I really wanted to see the end of A Block live. And we have Kevin Kelly, Corino & Rocky Romero on commentary.
Just woke up in time to see Adam Page get the win for the BC over Naito/EVIL/BUSHI/Lethal. Post match Naito looked to give Omega the too sweet, Kenny went for it, but Naito flipped him off. Sets up their match.
2 matches that don't mean anything to go, then it's Tonga/Fale, Marufuji/Goto & Okada/Tanahashi!!!

Sanada taps Tenzan in what I think is a surprise. There's no reason for them not to have Tenzan have one final G1 tournament match win. I hope this was his last one. He looked really slow moving & sadly too old at times. Still a good match, but with the win not meaning anything for Sanada, wish Tenzan won.

Ishii over Makabe in a brutally stiff match. The fact that even with this win, Ishii was only 4-5 in this thing is a travesty. He's the MVP of this G1 to me.
As if chops to the throat, hard lariats & forearms aren't enough, then they start exchanging headbutts which make me so uncomfortable to watch, yet I'm oddly drawn to it.
Awesome match.

Tonga over Fale to eliminate his BC partner. Called that. They teased Tonga laying down, but I like commentary said the pride of his family wouldn't allow it.
Aside from that, I just didn't like the match, not a fan of Fale at all. Tonga looked good though.
2 big ones coming up! Can't believe I've actually stayed awake!

Goto over Marufuji! Shocked by that actually. It was a fantastic match. Goto needs Okada/Tanahashi to go to a double countout or a draw. Marufuji is officially eliminated.
Essentially all comes down to Okada/Tanahashi, how it should be. I honestly don't see Goto winning A Block via double countout from these two.

HOLY SHIT THEY WENT TO A TIME LIMIT DRAW!! Goto wins the A Block! Tanahashi hit a High Fly Flow with like 5 seconds left and ran out of time.
Did not see that coming. They played it up the entire time & didn't think they'd do it. Crowd seems very disappointed actually.
Pretty much cements whoever wins the B Block to win the whole thing right? Why have Goto win this? He hasn't won it since 2008.
Incredible main event & conclusion to the A Block though. Okada/Tanahashi was insane & it just adds to another chapter of their rivalry.

Corino and Kelly and Rocky Romero were pretty good on commentary. Naito and Omega...

OMEGA IS GOING TO THE FINALS!! He beats Naito with maybe a minute left to win the B Block!!
Woke up just in time for this match to start & it could be Top 3 match of the tournament (Ishii/Okada, Tanahashi/Okada being the others). At one point Kenny powerbombed Naito through the announce table & hit a somersault plancha from the top rope over the guardrail to the floor!
Naito worked the knee the whole match & Kenny sold like a champ, trying desperately to hit the One Winged Angel over & over again until he finally did with just a minute left.
Omega vs Goto in the finals. Have an odd suspicion that Naito beats whoever wins the G1 before WrestleKingdom to get their shot.

Holy shit that was amazing.
Omega-Naito tore the house down and Omega moves on to the finals.
Did not see Omega-Goto in the finals when this started, but Omega-Okada at the Dome will be superb.
Then when Gedo turns and joins The Elite...

Wow, I didn't know the schedule coming up. That makes this win even more huge then. Would've thought Naito would've gotten a chance to win it.
Anyone besides Yoshi-Hashi or Sanada I'm fine with main eventing WK.

Yeah.
I have to think looking at that schedule if Omega wins then he keeps it and headlines WK.
If Goto wins, he loses it to Tanahashi.
Or maybe Goto keeps it as well and gets help from Gedo to win.
This year's G1 was better than last year IMO.
And there are no skippable cards from now til WK.

I watched all of last G1 & granted this years is more fresh in my mind, but I actually have to agree with you. The names were bigger last year, but the match quality was better this year.
Okada/Ishii I'll remember long after this tournament. I do think Tanahashi/Okada from last years WK was better than their match yesterday, but not by much at all. Then there's Omega/Naito today which was just incredible.
Moral of the story, this is some of the best wrestling in the world.

Last year was the first time they expanded to 19 days and everyone seemed to struggle. The shows weren't all important, and the match quality dipped a bit.
This year they adjusted to where even the tag matches weren't all completely skippable.

That's the one thing I fell off on, the tag matches before the tournament matches. They all just seem to be the same thing to me.
Another positive was they made this very unpredictable this year. Last year there were only 2-3 guys who would most likely make it to the finals (Styles/Okada/Tanahashi). Glad they threw a curveball & Omega/Goto won. Totally fine being wrong.
Good thing we didn't do a prediction contest this year, I would've failed miserably at defending my title!

Haha. Yeah it's been nice and unpredictable.
I don't think anyone had Goto-Omega as the finals.

I looked on the Squared Circle reddit & they did a prediction game and some had one right, but no one had both.
It's on tomorrow night right? If so, I assume it's on at a wonky time like 5 in the morning again our time?

He almost took out Corino too, who decided to wear jammies for the occasion.

Watched the Omega match this morning and it was outstanding. I loved how they both sold and kept selling things throughout the match. I also liked how the announcers spoke when needed and shut up when needed. They seemed to actually add to the match and not get in the way...wonder if the E can figure that out.
I liked the post match in the ring and the press "interview" after that. Kenny is so good on the stick.

Finally got to watch Goto/Omega. Within 22 hours, Omega had put on two 5 star performances. (can't wait to see Meltzer's ratings, haven't looked yet at the last 3 nights) The tributes to Ibushi, Devitt & AJ were great and Goto kicking out if all of them was amazing. It took Kenny's finish to end it, which I loved the most.
Commentary was spot on, putting over the Americans who have been in this before, but had failed at winning the whole thing. Also talking about how Goto has had EIGHT title shots in his career, but never win the big one (which is unreal if you think of it).
Incredible end to, which I've agreed with you before Speeps, an even better tournament than the year prior.

Kushida won the Super J Cup tournament in a fairly meh tournament.
The NOAH-NJPW "feud" seems like it will highlight the rest of the year.
