Michael Chandler vs. Eddie Alvarez - for lightweight title
Muhammed Lawal vs. Emanuel Newton - for interim light heavyweight title
Pat Curran vs. Daniel Straus - for featherweight title
Mike Bronzoulis vs. Joe Riggs - "Fight Master" tourney final
Mike Richman vs. Akop Stepanyan
This was supposed to be their first shot at PPV but thank God Tito Ortiz has the neck of a 80 year old cripple and had to pull out of the fight with Rampage Jackson. This is a fantastic card that features the long awaited rematch of Chandler vs Alvarez which was my pick for fight of the year in 2011. Pat Curran I believe is a Chicago boy and a bad ass 145er. Lawal vs Newton SHOULD have fireworks as well because last time they fought King Mo was knocked out with a spinning backfist so he's gonna want revenge. Can't wait.

Pat Curran is the cousin of Jeff Curran - local guy that has his gym not far from me in Crystal Lake. Joe Riggs is still fighting? I thought he hung up the gloves a couple years ago.
You think Bellator can compete with UFC longterm?

I don't think they can compete with UFC. Sadly the only thing that can kill UFC is the oversaturation they are starting to do now. As long as they keep 3 main, exciting fights on the ppv cards they should be "ok".

My interest in MMA has waned a bit the past year. The big hype fights never live up to it and some divisions are just boring. I really don't want to watch GSP lay on someone for 25 min anymore. I think Ultimate Fighter kind of ran its course too - producing too many idiots instead of legit fighters.

My interest in MMA has waned a bit the past year. The big hype fights never live up to it and some divisions are just boring. I really don't want to watch GSP lay on someone for 25 min anymore. I think Ultimate Fighter kind of ran its course too - producing too many idiots instead of legit fighters. TUF has been horrible over the last few years.This season is probably the worst one I can remember ever watching. Colton Smith, who I believe is the champ from a few seasons ago is one of the most boring fighters ever. Good news is he fights this week on Fight for the Troops show. |

Alvarez/Chandler is definitely a candidate for Fight of the Year. That was a back and forth that coukd have gone either way. I had Eddie winning but it was close.
Joe Riggs is a young man but is extremely old in fight years. Whats he have? 50-60 fights under his belt? And a lot of tough fights in there.
Bellator definitely wont be giving the UFC any kind of run for their money. Pride and Strikeforce were their biggest competitors to date and look how that turned out. Bellator is nowhere near those two at this point

Rampage Jackson won by KO at the end of round 1 tonight.
One of you experts will have to tell me if beating Joey Beltran was a big deal.
