The fight is supposedly still on.
May be moved to UFC 200, which is what both guys wanted anyway.

With RDA backing out of his fight with Connor, Nate Diaz has stepped up to take his spot. Diaz brother's aren't scared of anyone, so that's a start. I would love to see Nate him down, and make his ass tap. I'm not a Connor fan, so I'm dying to see someone put him in his place. Read where Cerrone and Penn both wanted to take the fight. Considering Cerrone got wrecked up RDA in December, and Penn has been getting the shit beat out of him lately, I think they made the right choice. Also read that Edgar and Aldo both turned down the fight, unreal.

Edgar is hurt, so he couldn't take the fight. Aldo got slaughtered, so I don't think that would've happened anyway. I know Cerrone got destroyed by RDA, but I think he should've gotten the fight over Diaz. Granted, I think they picked Diaz because the build will be much better & both Diaz and Conor can talk people into buying the fight. Don't see that with Cerrone.
It's a huge gamble, because if Diaz wins (I don't think he will), that takes a LOT of momentum away from Conor and like him or not, he's the UFC's biggest draw right now. They can't afford to lose that.
He's a very unique fighter, because we haven't seen someone in a long time win a title, then immediately fight for another title, then, had he beaten RDA, would've challenged Robbie Lawler for the WW title.
Love him or hate him, he's great for the sport.

They can't afford to lose that. Welp, the UFC just lost millions of millions of dollars tonight. They lose Holm/Rousey 2. And they lose a massive amount of momentum behind Conor & big time draws. Now, it's back to the 145s.

This is what UFC does. Builds up stars and then when they lose its basically over. I feel like Rousey will fight Holm now with the winner getting Tate. McGregor is another story, that fight was so weird its like he wasn't trying in the second round.

Tate is tough as shit. She takes a beating and keeps going. It was a bad match up for Holms, but props for taking the fight and not waiting. The UFC still can go with the Holms/Rousey rematch or Tate/Rousey 3. Dana said in the post fight show that Rousey wasn't watching the fight, which I don't believe, but ok. Conor better stick to 145 or maybe 155. He was rocked by Nate, and Nate doesn't throw bombs like Lawler, Hendricks, Woodley, Lombard, and McDonald. Conor has no ground game, so he needs to stand and bang. Be a man and fight Edgar, then rematch Aldo. If he wins both, then move to 155, but that could still be rough for him.
Loved the different promos they ran for Jones/DC. I think Jones will kill him this time. DC is all talk, and was getting beat at his own game against Jones. I think Jones will finish him this time, and take back what he never lost.

For the last 2 hours I've been watching the live stream of the New York State Assembly vote on whether to legalize MMA in NYC.
The bill PASSED 113-25. MMA is now legal in New York City. FINALLY!!

That was scary embarrassing some of the people's arguments against legalizing it. One lady even resorted to looking at tweets on her phone, reading some from a "famed MMA coach in Glendale, who should be ashamed of himself." Yeah, she read from a parody account of Ronda Rousey's coach.
Another person compared MMA to gay porn.
Another, who was very 'Roseanne-esque' was super loud yelling how she didn't care if she loses the vote, MMA leads in domestic abuse & that's good enough reason why it shouldn't be legal.
Some who defended it were amazing. I tweeted a quote said by Hon. Phillip Goldfeder saying "You're entitled to your own opinion, but not entitled to your own facts." Less than a minute later, he had favorited it, haha. So all these people were on their phones as this was happening.
GREAT DAY FOR THE SPORT OF MIXED MARTIAL ARTS!!

Conor McGregor tweeted out he is retiring. All the MMA reporters are saying so far this is legit. Some originally thought it might be his way of getting more $$$$$

You could look at it two ways if this is legit (which I don't believe it is). On one hand, the positive, good for him, get in, get paid, get out without injuries.
On the other hand, from a MMA fan's point of view, it's a bitch move. Ever since winning the title, he will have fought in 2 different divisions that isn't his, got smoked in the 1st one & now fighting a rematch in another division. That's a shitty champion. Take nothing away from the FIGHTER, but he's a shitty CHAMPION. He hasn't defended anything. Edgar deserves a title shot. Aldo, as much as I don't think he does, should get another shot as well.
I don't think it's true, but if it's not, it doesn't paint him in a very good light.

I tend not to believe it either, but could see it being true. 1, he has fought the UFC over money many times. 2, he was in attendance last week when a fighter died. So maybe he is really shaken by this.

UFC star Conor McGregor, who made waves this week in the UFC world when he announced his retirement on Twitter, has issued the following statement on his status:
I am just trying to do my job and fight here. I am paid to fight. I am not yet paid to promote. I have become lost in the game of promotion and forgot about the art of fighting. There comes a time when you need to stop handing out flyers and get back to the damn shop. 50 world tours, 200 press conferences, 1 million interviews, 2 million photo shoots, and at the end of it all I’m left looking down the barrel of a lens, staring defeat in the face, thinking of nothing but my incorrect fight preparation. And the many distractions that led to this. Nothing else was going through my mind. It is time to go back and live the life that got me this life. Sitting in a car on the way to some dump in Conneticut or somewhere, to speak to Tim and Suzie on the nobody gives a f–k morning show did not get me this life. Talking to some lady that deep down doesn’t give a f–k about what I’m doing, but just wants some sound bites so she can maybe get her little tight ass a nice raise, and I’m cool with that too, I’ve been giving you all raises. But I need to focus on me now. I’m coming for my revenge here. I flew an entire team to Portugal and to Iceland to make my adjustments in preparation and fix my errors I made with the weight and the cardio prep. With the right adjustments and the right focus, I will finish what I started in that last fight. I will not do this if I am back on the road handing out flyers again. I will always play the game and play it better than anybody, but just for this one, where I am coming off a loss, I asked for some leeway where I can just train and focus. I did not shut down all media requests. I simply wanted a slight adjustment. But it was denied. There had been 10 million dollars allocated for the promotion of this event is what they told me. So as a gesture of good will, I went and not only saved that 10 million dollars in promotion money, I then went and tripled it for them. And all with one tweet. Keep that 10 mill to promote the other bums that need it. My shows are good. I must isolate myself now. I am facing a taller, longer and heavier man. I need to prepare correctly this time. I can not dance for you this time. It is time for the other monkeys to dance. I’ve danced us all the way here. Nate’s little mush head looks good up on that stage these days. Stuff him in front of the camera for it. He came in with no s–t to do that last one. I’d already done press conferences, interviews and shot the ads before RDA pulled out. Maybe I’ll hit Cabo this time and skull some shots pre-fight with no obligation. I’m doing what I need for me now. It is time to be selfish with my training again. It is the only way. I feel the $400million I have generated for the company in my last three events, all inside 8 months, is enough to get me this slight leeway. I am still ready to go for UFC 200. I will offer, like I already did, to fly to New York for the big press conference that was scheduled, and then I will go back into training. With no distractions. If this is not enough or they feel I have not deserved to sit this promotion run out this one time, well then I don’t know what to say. For the record also – For USADA and for the UFC and my contract stipulations – I AM NOT RETIRED

This whole thing was a promotion in itself. Publicity for the card. I totally get that he doesn't want to be at a million different places leading up to this fight, but that's what they also pay him for. Still happy he had Dana sweating for a day or two. Then again Dana was probably in on it the whole time.

It'll get fans excited about seeing "the real Connor" fight Diaz.

I truly hope Diaz wins again. Then what, Dana's golden boy is damaged even more & has to go back & be the champion in a division he should've stayed in originally. I really enjoy Conor as a fighter, but he became a spectacle too quickly.

His points on Diaz in the rant was kind of ridiculous. Sure he didn't do all the promotion Conor had, but Nate had less than 2 weeks to prep. He was in Mexico partying when he got the call. I think Conor is just coming up with a excuse to cover for his shitty ground game he has. Dana needs to call his bluff and say fucker you sit until you want to promote again.

Dana said that it's not true.
Also Anderson Silva had to pull out of his fight this weekend against Urijah Hall. He might need gall bladder surgery. Which sucks, because I wanted to see him crush Hall.
Urijah Hall is a dick. When I was in Vegas last year for a wedding, I went to MGM with a UFC poster & met Daniel Cormier, Vitor Belfort, Donald Cerrone, Anthony Johnson, John Makdessi, Ariel Helwani & a few others. I was with 2 other people (who I had never met), one was a super hot girl, who went up & asked Hall for an autograph, he looked at her, said he was busy & walked away. If he wasn't signing for a hot chick, no way was he signing for a dude like me.
Despite Silva getting popped for drugs last year, I still wanted to see him kick Hall hard in the face. Sadly that wont happen it seems. Still though, the PPV card this Saturday is insanely good.

Holy smokes, Stipe just KO'd the fuck out of Werdum. You could hear a pin drop in Brazil. Really happy for Stipe, been a long time coming for him. Werdum just didn't look good at all & Stipe rushed him.
Jacare picked apart Belfort & I assume he's next in line for the winner of Rockhold/Weidman.
Cyborg won, but Leslie Smith didn't quit. It was stopped early. I fucking can't stand Cyborg to begin with. She's a great fighter, but she's been so roided up over her career & to think she's only been busted once is a little suspect. She said she wants to continue defending her Invicta title & also fight Catchweight in UFC.
WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU FEED YOUR 135 WOMEN TO CYBORG WHEN SHE CAN'T EVEN MAKE THE WEIGHT? So dumb.

Michael Bisping just KO'd Luke Rockhold to win the Middleweight Title.
Holy smokes that was incredible. Been fighting in the UFC for nearly 10 years & this was his 1st title shot, on 17 days notice too. He definitely deserves it.
Amazing!

Never was a Rockhold fan in Strikeforce, always thought he was average, still do. Not a Bisping fan either, but good for him. I'll always remember him for getting the sht knocked out of him by Henderson. Earned the title shot off a win against Silva, in which Silva had him beat.
