2. Motley CrueAnd here's my other band that is tied with Tesla for my #2 all timer. If you don't like Motley Crue, you might hate life. Nikki Sixx likes Motley Crue and life so much that he died once already and came back for seconds! Tommy Lee & Pamela Anderson were putting out sex tapes looooooong (and I do mean long. Goodness Tommy) before that big butted Kardashian. And Vince Neil is, or at least was back in the day, the biggest hot rocker chick magnet that I've ever seen. They are the greatest studio band of all time. Vince really only had his voice for a few years. After that he really struggled with certain songs and notes. But none of that mattered because what came out of the studio was amazing and the concerts were such an experience that you hardly noticed any of Vince's deficiencies. And did I mention the Tittie Cam? I was 14 when Too Fast For Love came out. It didn't really have much if any commercial success so I didn't know much about it until years later. It's a great album. I think scorejr even named his first band Live Wire. This is probably the album (well I guess the next one too) jackref was referencing in his metal thread. Anyways, I love nearly the entire album: Live Wire, Public Enemy #1, Merry-Go-Round, Take Me to the Top, Piece of Your Action, Too Fast for Love, On with the Show. I was 16 when Shout at the Devil was released. I already liked rock & roll. I already liked girls. Already liked alcohol. (And maybe even a little smokie treat)(scorejr you shouldn't be reading this) but anyways.....oh and yeah, I already liked a good party. Well sheesh. This album and Motley Crue encompassed all of that in one fell swoop. My goodness. This album contains my favorite Crue song Ten Seconds To Love and if you were rating each song from 1 to 5 with 5 being the highest, each of the following would all be 5's: In the Beginning, Shout at the Devil, Looks That Kill, Bastard, Red Hot, Too Young to Fall in Love, Knock 'Em Dead, Kid. I'd give Helter Skelter a 4.9 just because it's a damn Beatles cover but it's a million times better than the original. Danger is probably a 4.0-4.5. Just listening to this album right now I gotta say that I'd be hard pressed to find a better one if I was stranded and could only have 1 album to listen to. Theatre of Pain came out around the time that Vince Neil killed his buddy so maybe that explains things. I don't have much to say about this album other than it gave us the greatest power ballad ever in Home Sweet Home and it gave us a fun cover of Smokin' in the Boys Room. And that's about it. Didn't have any real complaints with Girls, Girls, Girls. Wild Side, Girls, Girls, Girls, All in the Name Of..., You're All I Need, Jailhouse Rock are all pretty good. Couple others aren't too shabby either. 1989 comes along, I'm 22 and Motley Crue is releasing Dr. Feelgood. Life is good. This is another album that I know through and through. SOOOO many underrated songs on this album. I loved every one of them: Dr. Feelgood, Slice of Your Pie, Rattlesnake Shake, Kickstart My Heart, Without You, Same Ol' Situation (S.O.S.), Sticky Sweet, She Goes Down, Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away), Time for Change. Admittedly I pretty much lost track of them going forward but that was plenty for me. I did like their 2008 song Saints of Los Angeles.

I hated the program I was in but I had to attend this thing. I was 21 so the first moment I got away from the class I jetted up to the sky bar...one of those rotating levels bars. I had a white russian and it was glorious. I felt like such a badass going to the top floor bar and ordering a drink for myself by myself.
Once I settled down I went to the grand piano in the lobby and started rocking out. A crowd started to gather. A crowd of pretty hot girls. They tipped me!! I was found to have been holding a cup that smelled of alcohol so I was essentially kicked out of my program at college.... did i give a fuck? Yes...i did. I hated that program and loved it. One girl was ready to go....but i declined. I ended up taking her roomie out to the bars of detroit just because.... a few beers, bars, hours later I sealed that deal!!!
Thank you Crew!!!

The best part of this is that i got kicked out of my program for the cup that smelled of alcohol. (I graduated a semester earlier and was far happier with my alternate degree so don't worry about me having been kicked out). Getting back to the best part....I got a letter that documented my program dismissal. It basically said the fact that you hooked up with a student from another school..... It literally says that. I framed it. I still have it....in the frame. Its documented ass.

I believe it says" the fact that you spent part of the night in a room with a female student from xxxcollege contributed to this decision.

1. Van HalenVan Halen has been my favorite band for pretty much as long as I remember. I guess at some point I transitioned from Styx to Van Halen. Now let's not get carried away. I'm pretty much only talking about the DLR version. I'm not the guy to be reviewing the "other" version but I will add that for those (and sadly there are some) that prefer that "other" version over the DLR-led one (well first those people are wrong) it only goes to show that one way or another, you like Van Halen. Even though there's only one correct choice. (I will allow for the playing of Top of the World for those times when either Drop In or myself win fantasy titles.) Now let's get back to the real band. With the greatest frontman of all time. You know who he is. He just oozes frontmaness. Stud fricken muffin. The epitome of cool. Probably the coolest looking dude on the planet for a good 7-10 year run. Yes it's David Lee Roth. It should also be noted that David's solo work is covered in this write up because where else would it be? And then you have what I consider to be the greatest guitarist of all time in Eddie Van Halen. Now I'm not a critic, maybe there's better guitarists but there's not to me. Eddie invented some sort of sound that completely resonates through my body to this day. And he was bopping Valerie Bertinelli!! Alex Van Halen is certainly in the running for most underrated drummer of all time because he was so thoroughly overlooked due to the mega personalities of Roth and Eddie. And I'm sure Michael Anthony was good at something too I guess. Anyways, where was I? Nah I'm kidding. Michael Anthony was essential to the backup vocals and did indeed play a key role. I was 11 when the self titled Van Halen album came out in 1978. So that would've placed me at St. Rita's at the time but I still knew about this album and this group. They were getting massive airplay right out of the gate. There's not a song on the entire thing that I don't absolutely love: Runnin' with the Devil, Eruption, You Really Got Me, Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love, I'm the One, Jamie's Cryin, Atomic Punk, Feel Your Love Tonight, Little Dreamer, Ice Cream Man, On Fire. Then they released Van Halen II in 1979. It's kind of a strange album. Not in a bad way but there's some fairly light stuff on the album but then the middle three songs are pretty much metal that jackref would be damn proud of. Once again, I liked most every song on the album. You're No Good , Dance the Night Away, Somebody Get Me a Doctor, D.O.A., Women in Love..., Beautiful Girls. I mean I did like the 3 metalish songs but not as much as jackref or scorejr would: Bottoms Up!, Outta Love Again, Light Up the Sky. Women and Children First came out in 1980 and liked it but not as much as the first two albums. The songs that really stuck out for me were: And the Cradle Will Rock..., Everybody Wants Some!!, Fools, Romeo Delight. Fair Warning was released in 1981 and in my opinion doesn't get anywhere near the love that it should. It's quite solid all the way though. I mean everybody loves Unchained (my favorite VH song) but you don't hear much about the others which is a crime. Mean Street, Push Comes to Shove, Hear About It Later, So This Is Love?, Dirty Movies and Sinner's Swing! are all incredibly solid offerings. Diver Down came out in 1982 and was apparently kind of forced on Van Halen by the record label. It was pretty much a covers album for the most part. I mean it wasn't terrible but it was still probably my least favorite VH album. I still liked quite a few songs though: Where Have All the Good Times Gone!, (Oh) Pretty Woman, Dancing in the Street, Little Guitars, Big Bad Bill (Is Sweet William Now). It was 1984 and surprisingly 1984 was released. Everything about this album is great and I loved every song: Jump, Panama, Top Jimmy, Drop Dead Legs, Hot for Teacher, I'll Wait, Girl Gone Bad, House of Pain. And that was pretty much it for the "good" Van Halen. David Lee Roth went on to produce some pretty good solo stuff including: Yankee Rose, Knucklebones, Just Like Paradise, Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody, California Girls, Shyboy, Goin' Crazy!, Tobacco Road, That's Life, The Bottom Line, A Lil' Ain't Enough, Sensible Shoes, Damn Good.

Love your top 3. Way to end strong. Van Halen (DLR era of course) is incredible and I share your passion for them. In fact them and Motley Crue were the only two bands considered for my list since they straddle the hard rock/metal line so well.
Overall I give your list a solid B (mainly because you ended strong - was head for a C- until top 3).

You posted your list way too fast. I still have 36 friggin teams left to rank in my Survivor Series list. Which so far, only Winger has made the cut.
Van Halen unfortunately won't make the Top 36.
I really liked this list though!

Its a good list dad. Still think you went a little commercial with Zeppelin and Floyd and Sabbath but I get where you're coming from. Top three is solid, and Floyd should be flip flopped with Ozzy or Bon Jovi. Now for real, top 100 wrestlers. Let's do it.

In lieu of Eddie Vedder getting way too, fuck I don't know, gooey? Yeah, in light of Eddie Vedder getting way too gooey and relevant seeky-ey and just overall sucky, I decided to take another look at Pearl Jam to see if I was missing something or being too hard on them.
Nope.
I wasn't.
They have 2 good songs. Twoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
