Been plowing through Casa de Papel on NetFlix. There is some appeal to the show, but I find a lot of "really?" moments. I mean the robbery crew trains for half a year, and they keep making rookie mistakes. The cast is ok.
My goodness, I felt bad for Dunn last night. Not sure why he dunked like that and then fell on his head. Maybe he thought the defender was going to run into him. I felt bad for that kid.

I caught Mac on Sports Talk Live and with Mully. He sounds good and has the vigor consistent with his past new ventures. He almost makes me want to go out and buy an F150 with the way he was selling it on WSCR this morning. It just seems like he is one of a dying breed of regular guys. Too many pseudo intellectuals at WSCR, while ESPN's product is too sanitized with that corporate culture.

Danny's podcast from Thursday was short and sweet, but solid nonetheless.
I use the word "pathetic" for my inability to stay up late. That joke about old people eating breakfast the night before might just be me at this rate. SADDDDDDD!

Is it just me or does this weather make you fall asleep early? Two nights this week, I just dozed off early after dinner with no motivation to get up and do anything of consequence. It is worse when there are no major sports on. This weather is killing my sleep, health, and mind. Quiet Jackref. The older I get, it's not that I can't handle it. I ask myself why I'm handling it. |

Down to my last week of running around for baseball. The youngest turns 16 later this month. Baseball practice for two hours today.....but the end is near. No more sitting around watching training for hours at a time.

Spence looked tough last night in his title defense on Showtime. High activity level and tons of body work throughout the fight. He took a few hards shots without even flinching.

Ok, Romo got really weird by the end of that game. He was just making odd noises. At least it was a decent game. The evening game sucked. I was sleeping (from the Mules) sometime during the third quarter.

Glad I went to bed early. Looks like the Hawks didn't show up in the 3rd, and the Bulls ended up blowing a big lead. I got to work ahead of any weather related traffic, so I'll count that as the win our Chicago teams coulnd't produce.

A few minor consumer related annoyances in life:
1) The little stickers they put on fruit. I get it, cashiers don't know it's an apple or a pear unless there is a hard to remove sticker on it. Duh
2) The small remnants of what once a productive bar of soap. Do you just throw them out? No matter how much you lather, it barely produces anything, but its half life seems like days.
3) Why do dogs eat stuff that make them pukes or clog up their bowels? My older dog swallowed so much of her new bone last night that she threw up chunks this morning.
4) I can't stand the loose grapes at the bottom of the bag. I know they're fine to eat, but something about the ones that fall off the vine that makes them less appetizing.
5) Speaking of loose stuff at the bottom, I am likewise annoyed by the bottom 10% of the box of cereal. It's mostly crumbs. Much like the bar soap, it is tough to just throw out something that still has value.

I'm not usually the frugal type, but I have a strange necessity to make sure every last possible bit of Old Spice Body Wash is out of the container. I don't suggest doing this with Axe Body Wash. If you leave the bottom portion for too long, it starts to multiply like in Gremlins. All of a sudden, you wake up and there are nine dudes in your kitchen doing Fireball shots at 10 AM. While this might be exciting to KS, it's not suggested.

It's getting easier and easier to just go to bed even though the Hawks are still on. I turned it off as a tied game with ten minutes to go, around 9:30. The team just doesn't seem to care all that much, so why should I?
Brent Seabrook is an absolute waste of space. Despite his early PP goal, he was lazy on a non-icing call that let the Leafs tie it. And later on he takes a stupid tripping penalty because he's too slow to position himself properly in the defensive zone. Hey Brent, scream at the refs all you want. You're the problem, not them.
I don't mind sub par teams. I just like energy and effort. Not seeing it with my Hawks.

In any case, Zandi made so many bad predictions in the midst of the subprime crisis, and he is one of those media whores like Diane Swonk. You would see his uniformed comments all over the financial pages, and much of it complete nonsense. I honestly can't believe this guy is a doctor....just wow. For those that are left leaning, you will enjoy his thoughts in the article below. My dislike is not because of his obvious politics. Took the family to see Molly's Game last night. I like true stories and have personally logged thousands of hours of live Hold Em action. It was decent, a bit long, but worth it. I suspect the book would be great.
