Oh, Tony. Why?
Poor Edge...

That article tells me that Tony's focus will never be in the right place.
In 2024, I don't give a shit about two companies hating each other, because it doesn't put a dime in my pocket either way.
All I care about is both companies producing good wrestling TV. One company currently is, and the other is unfortunately not.

I get where Tony is coming from, he just needs to get his point across better. Instead of saying companies hate each other, just say there will always be competition between wrestling companies. That’s it.
The more he reacts like how he did last Wednesday with the footage (though, it ultimately did prove Punk struck first and went at Tony), the more WWE will continue to take pot shots on side shows like Helwani or McAfee, which leads to Tony wasting TV time to respond.

ADAM! Copeland just went out a few weeks ago to cut a peace and harmony promo, and then he's undercut the next 2 weeks by Tony.
In the immortal words of Jed Bartlet, you don't have to swing at every pitch.

Motor City Machine Guns expected to be signing soon.
The Guns can still go not just as a team but as singles. You could get both out of Sabin & Shelley.
I’d far more prefer a team like them over the Hardys.
They’ll be a fun signing

How many more undersized tag teams does the company need?

I think I'm gonna turn back into an AEW apologist.
The insane level of hatred for the company is....well....insane.

The hate is nuts.
I wish they did better, but I want them to be around and not have any of their talent die.
Other people, not so much.

I knew it was ridiculous a couple of months ago when in the comment section of a Bischoff video, some dude prefaced his comment with, "This is why I want AEW to go out of business..." I'm like damn man, if you don't like it, just don't watch. Why are you wishing for people to be out of work?

I’ll preface this by saying the booking has been not nearly as good as it once was and Tony needs to get that drive back to hopefully spark interest again.
Ok, we good.
Bischoff, Russo, Disco, Corny, others, who get a big amount of clicks by shitting on AEW have to be blamed just a little for the venom fans have at AEW, right? Obviously it’s not their entire fault, there’s tribalism in wrestling fans and we know that. But when you get far more views complaining about literally every fucking thing AEW does, your fan base are going to be convinced to hate everything as well.
Is every episode of Dynamite a knockout? Fuck no. But is it anywhere close to WCW 2000? FUCK. NO. Go back and watch a New Blood/Millionaire Club Russo/Bischoff era Nitro from 2000 (or late 99 era Russo ep) and you tell me which is worse?
God forbid anyone i mentioned give a compliment to the product in any way, it’d piss off their base.
Again, this isn’t a 100% defense of Tony or trying to pass the buck, they need to own their mistakes and right the ship (which I think they have, just need more interesting storylines with payoffs)

There is nothing I've seen from any major wrestling promotion that reaches WCW 2000 territory.
I know we like to have fun, but nothing AEW has done comes close to it.

They are not a draw outside of the 200 people who remember them from their heyday in TNA almost 20 years ago! It makes zero sense to do this instead of signing someone who can make you money OR use that air time for your homegrown or "pillar" talent. It's not a fun signing, it is a horrible business decision. It's not like they don't have a dozen of those two guys on the roster already.

The big problem IMO is that the idea of "wouldn't this be a cool dream match" booking has kind of lost its luster. At least for me.
They need a big time angle that can carry them for months.
MJF and Cole could be that if both can stay healthy long enough to do it.
Kenny and Okada could do it if Kenny is ever up to it again.
Maybe Ospreay and Okada?

There is nothing I've seen from any major wrestling promotion that reaches WCW 2000 territory. I know we like to have fun, but nothing AEW has done comes close to it. But Schiavone sat looking sad once. Like he did on a weekly basis for the final 3 years of WCW’s existence. People are friggin idiots. As for the Machine Guns, I think if you want to start building the Trios division, potential tag threats. International/TNT contenders individually, it’d work. These are guys who are coming off strong runs in TNA (Shelley as World Champ for like over 200 days and Sabin his 10th X Division reign). While that might not sound interesting to some, audiences know who they are. And if this means more competitive matches weekly by using those guys instead of guys who can barely move like Matt & Jeff, I’d take the Guns every day. Odds are you aren’t paying them as much as The Hardy’s, so that’s fine by me. Give me FTR vs The Guns, give me The Bucks vs The Guns, hell House of Black or Lucha Bros, Top Flight, etc. Pair them with a guy and get the Trios titles off the fucking Acclaimed & Daddy Ass already. Anything would be better than them at this point.

MJF and Cole could be that if both can stay healthy long enough to do it. Kenny and Okada could do it if Kenny is ever up to it again. Maybe Ospreay and Okada? This got me thinking way too much last night. Ospreay and Okada are definite draws and a feud between them would definitely make money. Kenny and MJF when healthy are also money draws. Edge is kind of. I really don't think he was as much of a crossover impact as AEW hoped for. I think Switchblade can be but they killed his immediate heat with this long drawn out feud with the Trios nonsense. He is a star they need to push. Cole - maybe. He has shown glimpses but health and always having to be with his buddies are concerning. FTR is a definite draw. Pac I think is too. Samoa Joe definitely, but I really don't understand who I am supposed to be rooting for in this heel vs heel feud with Swerve. Oh and Toni Storm is $$$ Other than that list, I am not sure who else can be built on, especially long term. Don't say Danielson or Moxley because the shelf life on the former is limited and the latter is quite boring and they already tried with him as top dog and it didn't really get them anywhere. That's not to say there isn't talent in the locker room because there is. But not any that is going to really move the meter. Tony needs to sign immediate impact type guys/gals (sorry not MCMG goofs) or really focus on developing meaningful feuds with his top 10 roster spots. He has done so much in 5 years and I want to see this another 5 or more but he has got to start thinking bigger and delegate. Also hire some real business minded EVPs. I think a tough look has to be given to ROH too. Can you keep that going separate and keep spending money on it that takes away from money you could be putting into AEW?

It's sad that I forgot Jay White, and also didn't mention Samoa Joe or Swerve.
Those guys are all top level guys.
And even though I think he's boring as fuck, Moxley is too.
They have the talent to be amazing.
But they have to find an angle that can be the cornerstone of the company. I don't want to say like The Bloodline, but like the Bloodline.

Moxley is definitely money. I think he needs to find a way to freshen up the act, but I have no problem with him at the top of the card.
I also think Bryan Danielson if turned heel could potentially draw.

I think they tried the Danielson heel run and people didn't really buy into it. They wanted to cheer him, especially if he's only got a few more months of regular ring time to go.
