Did you view Cody as a game changer when he left? Probably not but I certainly thought much MUCH more highly of him than I ever have with Mike Kanelis.

Word is WWE won't be granting Kanellis his release. So he's either going to be forced to sit out...5 years??? Or they're going to continue to have him be a constant geek on TV (whenever he's on TV). Last house show he was on was October of last year. So he's not even getting house show dates to work. On one hand I feel for the guy, he's 34 and wants to wrestle, something he's not been able to do aside from maybe some 205 Live matches. The other hand, he shouldn't have signed a 5 YEAR DEAL a few months ago. Not like they were doing something with him to make him think that'd be a great idea. Then again Maria is having another baby soon and getting to be with your family in that regard might've played a big role in him signing a new deal, which, you can't blame him if that's the case. I was very surprised when he re-upped in June. I assume WWE must have given him some kind of reassurance at the time, and they likely reneged on whatever they told him. Too bad. He clearly loves the business and deserves better. But hey, let's pay Cain Velasquez and Tyson Fury seven figures to work one fucking show that 75% of their audience doesn't give a shit about.

You're talking about a company that resigned Mojo and Jinder to 5 year deals. They aren't letting anyone out. Last person they let out was Shawn Spears and he's on AEW TV now, already having a top match on one of their PPVs.
They're petty as fuck. They'd rather pay a guy to sit on the sidelines than risk them going somewhere else & become successful (ie Luke Harper).

Not surprised. They put a big summer blockbuster storyline in his hands and he fumbled the ball tremendously.
