Unrelated to the suicide stuff, here's Austin Aries vs Jim Cornette. My goodness. I don't even know who to root for in this. I can't stand either one of them. There are no winners here.

I don't know what this content is as my computer doesn't play videos unless they're from Youtube or Instagram but whatever it is...... it seems to have some folks in a bit of an uproar:

Welp......
"Following the live broadcast of NWA Powerrr Episode 7, the video was pulled from YouTube. There was fan backlash over a line by Jim Cornette on commentary about how Trevor Murdoch was the only person Cornette knew that could get away with riding around Ethiopia with a bucket of fried chicken on his back."

I must be part of the problem because I didn't see anything wrong with that line.
Bobby Heenan would never be able to be on commentary today.
2019 sucks.

I like Lagana, but he did the Raven "I'm sorry if some people were offended by us putting Sandman on a cross" apology.

But I remember Bischoff being asked why they didn't use more "little people" wrestlers in WCW. He said (paraphrasing) "could you imagine if I had a bunch of Hispanic little people in the ring and Heenan with a live mic?" We're talking twenty years ago. You're not alone, because he has a co-host and however many people were in editing. I don't join Twitter mobs but someone could have caught it. Unless they wanted the attention. Always a possibility.

Obviously they left it in the episode so someone saw it and didn't care. Just let it be. Or tell Twitter to fuck off.

As a brother, I'm not a big fan of Ethiopia (black people) / fried chicken references. I don't recall Heenan ever making a fried chicken reference.

I heard it as guy with food can get away with walking around people who are starving. It makes sense from an old person from the South. I guess I can see people trying to make it a black/chicken thing.
Heenan may not have made a fried chicken joke but he made plenty others that would never be allowed today. Hell, his Pearl Harbor line would have people in an uproar.

I had "cancelled" Cornette long before this. Like I've said before, he's the Donald Trump of wrestling. Even though he hates Trump. He knows how to get people riled up and gain a following. I respect the hell out of Jim Cornette the wrestling historian. Passed out with one of his Kayfabe Commentaries Timeline's on the other night. But the rest of the act has caused me to ignore him for a while.

I see that line and immediately think black people/chicken, but that's because of my personal experience. Others with a different experience might read that joke completely differently. This is why dialogue is healthy. It helps people with different perspectives to understand why the other side may feel a certain way. We interpret the joke differently. I don't think either one of us are necessarily wrong.
