Cornette out.
"Effective immediately: Jim Cornette has resigned from the National Wrestling Alliance. As an announcer on the November 19th edition of NWA Power, Jim made remarks during a singles match between Nick Aldis and Trevor Murdoch that were both offensive and do not meet the high standards of decency and good faith of the National Wrestling Alliance.
To ensure that such an error can never happen again, we've established new procedures of review for all NWA programming going forward.
We sincerely regret our failure in this regard."
Though Friday sounds like it will be a good one.

It's all a matter of a perspective. I see that line and immediately think black people/chicken, but that's because of my personal experience. Others with a different experience might read that joke completely differently. This is why dialogue is healthy. It helps people with different perspectives to understand why the other side may feel a certain way. We interpret the joke differently. I don't think either one of us are necessarily wrong. Absolutely. All I know is KS is always wrong.

As much as I dislike Corny, he shouldn't have been fired. That said, it's 2019, comments like that won't fly anymore (not surprised he said it, Corny is out of touch on a lot of things), even if he's said them multiple times years before & it wasn't supposed to be racial. Like it or not that was a different time back then. That's not the world we live in now.
I don't think he should've said the comment at all. But It's a taped program, this should've been caught & handled before air.

I think he absolutely should've been fired/let resign. This is the second time in 2 weeks that NWA has had to apologize for him. Just go back a page and read all about it. Making light of suicide, telling someone to hang themself, telling a female to "go back to the kitchen, toots".
It never stops with this guy.

I'm not a fan of cancel culture even if I agree it's probably time for Cornette to leave the NWA. Not adjusted for inflation, but Cornette is likely making close to what he made in his biggest wrestling years with his little controversies. Travel a couple times per year and do the rest from Castle Cornette. He's a worker, he's a heel (mf'er), and he's a carny.
"Cornette says stupid thing" is still not the biggest factor for me here. The non-apology apology and the fact this cleared the editing booth is still baffling to me. Again, unless it was a purposeful mistake.

This gotcha culture is out of fucking control. I did not but what I read about and from him is enough for me. He has long made light & fun of suicide. Robin Williams & Heath Ledger among his targets. He has burned bridges with basically every organization he's ever been apart of. Eventually everybody else is not the problem. You are. (Not you WR. You know what I mean) He tweets like he's in 6th grade. He's embarrassing. Total potty mouth. Hates everything new. Unable to adapt his old ass. I don't like anything about him in all honesty. Other than he hates Trump. Which is ironic.

I don’t disagree with that but this pedophile thing is ridiculous. He didn’t mean it. He made fun of his awkward smile that never ends. If that bothers you I can list a whole ton of popular tv shows that probably has your panties and all of these crybaby wrestlers up in arms.

But not actually hearing content is a big problem with our problems today. That said, these "crybaby wrestlers" have created a community that's almost bringing back a territory system Cornette said could never return. "Wrestling is dead" he's said, as billions of dollars (literally), are being pumped into the system. What's dead is his past. Which I desperately want him to preserve as a historian. But a guy that grew up on Memphis wrestling shitting on non-conventional wrestling is Trump laughable. He's built a brand based on being a huge part of the wrestling business and his OCD made me appreciate parts of the wrestling business I didn't know existed. But we either die a hero or live long enough to become a villain. Not liking something is fine. But being a progressive liberal with 1970's views is a conflicted guy. Only reason he has this much space in my head is the Kayfabe Commentaries shows. He's so good in that forum.

I've seen you guys say that the making light of the suicide thing/telling someone how to hang themselves, and telling toots to get back in the kitchen is no big deal. NWA obviously felt otherwise. Now this fried chicken thing is no big deal. And again, NWA obivously felt otherwise. I don't know what else to say. Obviously none of us are going to change each other's mind. I'm not cancel culture, I'm not PC but this fuck just never stops. NWA has had to apologize for him again and again. I just don't think he's worth all this trouble.

NWA left the comment in on a taped show. If they found it offensive, they had ample time to remove it. They didn't.
I don't like Cornette much but this stuff is nonsense.
I blame Lagana more than Cornette.

I don’t disagree with that KS. He’s no doubt made his own bed. I have a big problem when people that read or hear shit go crazy with cancel culture without actually reading or hear what was said. It’s one of my main reasons I cannot stand Meltzer because he tries to position himself as a journalist when it’s convenient but he follows none of their rules.
I get your point though. He’s given up benefit of doubt with you and that’s hard to argue.
He has definitely gotten worse over the last year. It’s clear that the only way AEW was going to make him happy is if it was exactly how he determined wrestling should be which isn’t a practical way to view things if you want to enjoy them. I think we all know where I stand on certain wrestlers but he is nitpicking AEW to the point of no return (he does praise many things as well).
As for NWA, honestly you should have known what you signed up for with Cornette. You get the good and the bad.

You should listen to the episodes where the "suicide" and Justin Roberts' topics came up and you would know the full context. You think I cry or want to buy a tie and find a doorknob when he bashes Republicans, Trump supporters, or 2nd Amendment supporters? No, because I know his gimmick and it is to be totally un pc. He'll make tons more money from his merch, podcast, and appearances than he would in the NWA. I hope the person in charge of reviewing the episode before posting it on YouTube would be fired.

www.postwrestling.com/2019/11/23/jim-cornette-addresses-his-remark-on-power-and-nwa-departure/#click=https://t.co/Sw3jTN1suLFollowing the news of his resignation from the NWA a comment made on this week’s episode of Power, Jim Cornette addressed the situation on his podcast this week.On the episode, Cornette used a line during a match involving Nick Aldis and Trevor Murdoch where he noted:Trevor Murdoch is mad, bad and dangerous to know. He’s the only man that I’ve ever known that can strap a bucket of fried chicken around his back and ride a motor scooter across Ethiopia. Trevor Murdoch can take care of himself. His defense was that it was not a joke about race but a joke about starvation citing the famine crisis in Ethiopia in the 80s. Cornette was unsure if he created the line or stole it from a comic but used it for Big Bubba Rogers and would repeat it on other episodes in the future. In reference to fried chicken, his defense was it sounded funnier than a ‘plate of sushi or a ham sandwich’.Cornette outlined the timeline of receiving a phone call on Tuesday night at 7:30 pm from NWA Vice President David Lagana but only heard a dial tone. Cornette called back and left a message with Lagana with no idea of the controversy that erupted that night. On Wednesday, he was made aware and spoke with Lagana over the matter. Cornette acknowledged getting heated and hanging up on Lagana, which he apologized to him for. Cornette’s issue was with the way the initial statement was worded that he felt cast Cornette guilty of something far worse and added that Lagana was the one editing the show and writing the apology yet didn’t include himself in the statement. Cornette didn’t appreciate being grouped into the apology and would have preferred wording to the effect of a bad joke being used and the editing process missing it.When Cornette brought up that it was a taped episode and what Lagana initially thought of the line, the NWA Vice President stated the joke went right past him.Cornette added that if he was told of the insensitive nature of the joke at the time, he used it, he would have been fine with them editing it off the program and would not use the line in the future. He said that he apologized to those that had reasonable criticism of the line and were truly offended but not to those that he felt were irrational in their condemnation of him.He closed by noting the sides going separate ways and it wasn’t fun anymore and it was best for him to leave but encouraged his listeners to keep watching the show. That seems pretty reasonable.
