I didn't think I could be more excited to watch these shows. Listened to the show runners on Cornette's Experience today. Hearing them tell how and why they did the individual shows is so good. When the list came out, really didn't think we needed another Benoit show. After hearing them explain why they did Benoit, and watching part one, totally get it.

I mention Nash because in 1999 he famously referred to Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, and Eddie Guerrero as vanilla midgets.

I was never a huge Benoit fan. Respected the work, but he was never one of my favorites. I also don't believe he had the capacity to really harm someone until the last couple years of his life.
There was a bouncer at my favorite bar the Summer I turned 21 that looked just like Benoit. I used to try to turn my fingers in as much as possible while I gave him the Four Horsemen salute like Benoit's broken digits. When I had a different ID halfway through the Summer, things went sideways.

I thought he was a badass, but I didn't go out of my way to watch him. My opinion started changing around early 1998 when he had the US Title feud with DDP, good matches with Bret, and the best of 7 series against Booker T. I also have the tendency to root for the underdog and in 1998 WCW if you weren't feuding with Hogan in some capacity, you were just another guy on the roster. I thought he deserved better. By 1999, Benoit, Booker T, and Chris Jericho were my favorites in the business. When Jericho left in 1999, I watched WCW less, but when the Radicalz left in 2000 I stopped watching WCW altogether. |

Damn. I was OK through most of it. I just wanted to fucking hug David Benoit and then Chavo essentially does that at the end. That was my breaking point.
Everyone should watch it.
