Jericho/Triple H is one of my favorite moments ever in wrestling. I watch it once a year and still get goosebumps for the three-count. That was the moment where Jericho showed he could hang with the top guys.

I watched the circa 2000 Raw when Jericho “won” the belt from Triple H. I was maybe a full year back into wresting when this went down. Still one of my favorite matches on Raw of all-time. One of the times I was legitimately shocked and excited watching Raw. It got me to thinking... Randomone, thoughts on you watching every WWF title change match on Raw for reviews? I have no idea how many there might be. Only ask is you have to include this match as the title unofficially and temporarily went to Jericho. It’s be interesting if these collection of matches were good moments or actually fell flat.
I have some rules though, since this would seriously cut into my WCW squash matches time!
No Hardcore or 24/7 Title bullshit. There's like 900 title changes.
Keep it to WWF era, not WWE (I stopped paying attention to title changes long ago). So I'd cap it before Vince bought WCW. World/IC/Tag Titles only, unless there's a standout historic match for the Women's or European Titles I'm missing.
But yeah, all for it. That'd be cool to go back & check out. Title changes from RAW. I'll start looking up stuff!

So, from 1993 through 2001, here are the stats... 9 WWF Title Changes (8, but including the Jericho/Trips deal) 19 IC Title Changes 34 Tag Title Changes 14 European Title Changes 8 Women's Title Changes 20 Hardcore Title Changes (condensed due to multiple switches on same shows)
104 total Title Changes on RAW

I'm skipping the Tag Titles.
There's a run where they changed hands like 7 times in the span of 2 months. Those matches mean nothing.
There was one ep of RAW where the Hardys beat the Dudleys for the title, Edge & Christian beat the Hardys that same night, then the Dudleys won the titles back from E&C. All for what, to set up TLC 2? C'mon.

I've also watched 4 IC Title matches (the ones I knew would be short & suck) and 3 of them ended in belt shots or feet on the ropes. Not the best to say the least.
I'll also shorten the reviews for some of the main historical ones because of how long they are. Save me time & you from having to read move by move. Save that for the shorter ones.

I'd love to see your star rating on a couple in particular. Bulldog vs. Owen in the Euro finals is a top ten all time match for me.

I'd love to see your star rating on a couple in particular. Bulldog vs. Owen in the Euro finals is a top ten all time match for me. I never thought of a ratings system for this. Good call. I'll do that. Just finished the Women's Title changes because I wanted to get though the worst list first. My goodness there was some trash women's wrestling back in the day. Booking itself might be dumb present day, but holy shit has the caliber of actual women's wrestling come a long way.

Mid South Wrestling Jake Roberts v Dick Slater. Jake's last match before going North. After getting the North American Title, Slater tossed the TV medal in the river as Dark Journey looked on. Months later, Slater would toss Sting's head into a locker room toilet for sleeping with Dark Journey.

The last few days I've been watching the MSG shows and TV shows building to WrestleMania I. From Piper smashing the award over Albano's head and beating up David Wolff, to the Piper's pit on the set of the A-Team, to Hogan vs. Piper at the War to Settle the Score, to the in-ring Piper's Pit segment at MSG two weeks before Mania.
I have to say, this build was fucking AWESOME! It's no wonder that the first Mania was so successful and that the WWF quickly became the #1 promotion in the 80s. For as much as Vince has lost his fastball in the last 15-20 years, the mid-80s belonged to him. Every bit of this setup was brilliant and so much credit goes to Piper for talking everyone into the building and into the closed circuit theaters that night. The old school promoters criticized Vince for his vision, but Vince was right on the money.
One more thing: I was blown away by how good Hogan vs. Piper was, despite there being nothing but kicks, punches, chokes, and a couple of slams. My goodness...less was truly more when you had the right guys in the ring. Piper was the MVP of this entire thing.

We now go to WCW Pro for the squash match & random pairing fix as we get some real random ones here, much like Prime, but without the Dusty Moooos, so in a sense, this is a worse show.
WCW Pro
Steve Austin vs Steve Hall April 29, 1995 They shove each other as Austin wants a handshake, but it’s just to sucker Hall in as he slaps him in the face, snap mares him down, then hits a Hot Shot before nailing a piledriver for the 3 count. This went seconds. Hard to think Austin would be gone in a few months.
Meng vs John Taylor April 15, 1995 Bell sounds, back leg front kick to the face of Taylor that’d make Bischoff proud, 1…2…3. Nick Patrick used the most energy in this match, having to kneel down to count the finish.
Meng vs Julio Sanchez July 1, 1995 This is a great trivia question as this match was sadly Gordon Solie’s final match on commentary as Dusty & Larry strongly put over Gordon as Meng walks out. Boots & chops by Meng as he drives Julio into the corner & just battered down. We think he’s going to piledrive Sanchez, but powers him up into a powerbomb for 2. Back body drop & a gut wrench back breaker sets up the finish as Meng hits a super kick for the 3. Not really the kind of match you want one of the greatest commentators of all time to call, but Gordon puts over Dusty & Larry in return, thanking them. Ever the consummate professional, Gordon Solie was one of the best.
Renegade vs Terry Richards September 9, 1995 Holy shit, it’s RHYNO!! A young Man Beast gets a knee to the ribs early, but Renegade clobbers him with a few clotheslines & a snap powerslam, goes up to the top & connects with a flying splash for the 3 count. Poor Rhyno, just 4 years later he’d be becoming a name in ECW, while sadly Renegade would no longer be with us. On this day, Renegade was the better man.
Kurasawa (w/Col. Parker) vs Cobra October 21, 1995 Kurasawa spits at Cobra, so he fires off forearms to send him to the ropes, tries for a throat chop, but Kurasawa blocks in, hits one of his own & punts Cobra in the chest. A huge fall away slam & leaping boots repeatedly, Cobra hits a back elbow & clothesline to answer back, then nails a big time suplex. Hard rights to the corner, he goes for a splash, misses & Kurasawa locks on the arm breaker for the win. Cobra’s run was taken seriously for like a month before he started jobbing quick on these level shows.
Diamond Dallas Page (w/Kimberly & Maxx Muscle) vs Alex Wright – WCW Television Title October 21, 1995 DDP with a bodyslam early, but DDP poses as he gets rolled up for two. They trade takedowns as DDP gets a near fall off a front face lock, DDP holds on, Wright takes him down, dropkick & arm drag. DDP misses a back elbow, Wright with a cross body, DDP floats through, but fell into the ropes. Wright with a small package, DDP reverses it & has a handful of tights for the 3 count. Barely 90s seconds & the crowd was silent as the finish came super quick.
Ric Flair & Arn Anderson vs The Barrio Brothers December 30, 1995 What a way to end the year as Sierra cheap shots Double A after Arn got a hot start. Barrios make fast tags & are going to town on The Enforcer as Flair jumps in and rakes the eyes, chopping away. Arn officially tags in Naitch, who gets backdropped quickly by Sierra, only for Flair to rake the eyes & The Horsemen pick Sierra apart. Sierra fights back & tags in Santana, who shoots Double A off & hits a back elbow. Sierra back in as Arn cuts him off, tags in Flair, who tries for the Figure Four & Santana breaks it up, only to get sent outside. Flair posts Santana as Double A hits the DDT on Sierra for the win (despite Flair being the legal man). Super quick & pretty action paced little squash.
Meng vs Damon Striker February 3, 1996 Clean break by Meng in the corner as Striker gets the crowd behind him. Meng hooks a headlock, but as Striker tries for a crucifix, Meng slams him down. Striker tries fighting back, but they have no effect as he runs right into a crescent kick & Meng slaps on the Spike nerve hold for the win. Poor Striker, so much potential. Wonder what happened to him? Wonder if he became multiple time World champion and also a kazoo wizard that totally reeked of awesomeness?
Alex Wright vs Juventud Guerrera February 16, 1997 They trade arm drags as Juvi works the wrist, but Wright flips out, snaps the arm down, this time Juvi flips out. Wright kips up, Northern Lights gets a 2, then he applies a hammerlock. Overhead belly to belly by Wright, Juvi dropkicks the leg, tries a baseball slide, but Wright catches him by the waist & powers him down with a German Suplex for the win! What the hell? That was 1 minute and 95% of the match was hammerlocks!
Lord Steven Regal vs Bobby Eaton February 16, 1997 Eaton pours on offense that only Regal can sell as the former Earl Robert Eaton grabs a headlock, but let’s go to hit a right hand sending Regal scrambling. Regal hits a diving headbutt back inside, right to the midsection as he kicks Eaton outside & Regal slams him into the steps. He poses back inside as Eaton struggles his way into the ring & eats an uppercut, but Eaton hits 2 right hands. He hits a back body drop & neckbreaker, but Regal with a boot on the rope. Eaton almost runs into the ref as Regal ducks & he school boys Eaton with a handful of tights for the win. Shitty ending to a match that needed some more time.
Glacier vs Ultimo Dragon March 2, 1997 Blocks & counters to kicks and leg sweeps as they are countering everything before Glacier hits an enzugiri. Glacier is preparing for his Martial Arts match at Uncensored against “new martial artist Mortis” as he hits a superkick on Dragon, who no sells & he chops Glacier to the corner. Enzugiri by Dragon this time gets 2, but Glacier with a tilt a whirl slam. Sonny Onoo grabs the leg & Dragon dumps Glacier to the floor, where Onoo starts punting away & the referee disqualifies him. So apparently they have to keep both guys strong here.
Renegade & Joe Gomez vs Sgt. Craig Pittman & Buddy Lee Parker March 9, 1997 Apparently Pittman still works here & also he’s a heel that’s dropped Teddy Long. Arm drag by Renegade on Parker as he quickly tags Gomez, who gets clobbered by a Parker forearm. He tags Pittman & they hit a Battering Ram on Gomez as Pittman hits a brutal shoulder breaker. Judo throw by Pittman, tag to Parker & they hit a double suplex for a 2 count. Parker misses a splash & Gomez with a German suplex & a hot tag. Renegade house of fire, handspring elbow, tag to Gomez, who hits a side suplex for the 3 count. I have zero idea where Pittman was.
Renegade & Joe Gomez vs Jim Powers & Bobby Walker (w/Teddy Long) March 16, 1997 Remember when Powers was apparently aligned with Renegade, Gomez & Alex Wright called The In Crowd, so much for that, eh? Walker gets some arm drags on Gomez in the early going as they tag their partners & its Renegade who hits a handspring elbow in the corner & clothesline for 2. Quick tag to Gomez, who hits the ropes & both he & Powers double clothesline each other. Renegade gets a tag & apparently he didn’t see Powers tag Walker, despite holding his leg, as Walker hits a diving forearm off the top & pins Renegade. That was quick & pointless, even for WCW Pro.
Ice Train vs Bunkhouse Buck March 30, 1997 Buck gets tossed down & complains of a hair pull, as he tries for a Full Nelson, but Train pelvic thrusts his way out of it & hooks one himself. Buck with a rope break, misses a clothesline & Train steamrolls over him. He whips Buck off the ropes & hits a big powerslam, then charges, missing a splash. Buck with a big boot & a dropkick, but Train is “Moose-ing Up” as Dusty says, as he hits a big leaping splash apparently called The Train Wreck for the 3. Poor Buck, he was Tag Champion 2 years prior and now he’s getting squashed in a minute.
Alex Wright vs Steve McMichael April 13, 1997 Mongo suckers Das Wunderkind in as they trade working the arm & Wright with a school boy that Mongo sells comically for a 2 count. Back suplex by Mongo, who follows with a running powerslam for 2 of his own. He destroys Wright in the corner with boots, then hits a shoulder tackle, but Wright gets a hip toss & dropkick to regain control. Uppercuts dished out as the ref gets distracted by Debra while Wright hits a leg lariat. He goes up top & Mongo clobbers him with the briefcase (he actually hits himself in the face with it too) as he covers Wright for the win. Debra took the ref way too early & it was an awkward last minute.
Ultimo Dragon vs Bobby Eaton June 1, 1997 USA chants as apparently Dragon & Sonny Onoo have made up from their Slamboree falling out (code for this was taped before the PPV). Eaton tries for a backdrop, but Dragon lands on his feet, enzugiri to the floor, but Eaton bails before Dragon can hit a dive. Sonny hits a crescent kick to the chops & poses as Eaton grabs him as Dragon hits an axe handle from behind. Onoo calls Eaton a country bumpkin as Eaton slaps on a sleeper inside, but Dragon jaw breaks his way free. He goes up top, high cross body, but Eaton rolls through for 2. Bodyslam as Eaton misses an elbow follow, La Magistral Cradle gets Dragon the win. Scott Hudson calls it The Osaka Roll just so Larry can question it & he can say “no thanks, just had some General Tsao’s Chicken” ugh, leave it to the pros, Scott.

Part 2 of 3 in the WCW Pro posts. Yes, Jushin Liger & Eddie Guerrero put on a quick gem in this post. Also there's a WCW World Title match that took place...in seconds. You never know what you'll get on these WCW lower shows!
Belfast Bruiser vs Dave Sullivan March 16, 1996 Dave is heartbroken that Bruiser cheap shot him as he fires up, hits a corner splash, but Finlay hits a diving senton (butt bump as Dusty calls it). Bruiser sits down onto the chest again for a 2 count as he keeps targeting the midsection, then slams him down, but misses a Vader Bomb out of the corner. Evad fights back, but misses a corner splash & Finlay slaps on the cross arm breaker to get the tap, despite not working the arm at any point.
The Giant vs Southern Posse March 30, 1996 Weird Giant came out to non Dungeon of Doom music and by himself as this was apparently when he was having dissention with the Dungeon? Zero idea who Southern Posse are as commentary doesn’t tell us, they’re just 2 dudes. Giant drops them both with clotheslines & hits a big splash with them both stacked up. He drives his ass into them, then dropkicks them both simultaneously as the crowd is dead for all of this and commentary isn’t calling a thing. He drops both with Choke Slams & wins by sitting on them.
Scott Norton vs One Man Gang April 6, 1996 Two hosses going to battle as Gang gets leveled with a lariat early, but Norton lowers his head & Gang clobbers him with a wild clothesline of his own. He drives the shoulder to the midsection of Flash, who fights back & gets raked in the eyes. That’s all we’d get in the next few minutes are eye rakes, chokes in the ropes before Norton hit a powerslam for 3. This was really bad stuff. Norton was ok at this time, but Gang was so past his days, all he did was choke & eye rake.
The Giant vs Steve Doll WCW World Heavyweight Title May 25, 1996 Not kidding, the former half of Well Dunn in the WWF gets a WCW Title shot. Bell sounds & Giant launches Doll to the corner & drives the boot to the throat. Big boot to the belly welly as Giant roars, misses a clothesline as Doll hits 3 dropkicks, but Giant no sells, swats him away & hits a Choke Slam for the 3. That went 30 seconds longer than I thought it would.
Pat Tanaka vs Chip Minton June 1, 1996 Chops to the throat by Tanaka as he takes it to the former USA medalist in bobsledding, who Minton is apparently. Hip toss by Minton as Tanaka heads for higher ground & complains of a hair pull. Minton works a headlock, but Tanaka suckers him in with a flying forearm. Tanaka wears down the right leg, that Minton doesn’t sell a bit as he hits some karate chops…on Pat Tanaka mind you, as he hits some dropkicks sending Tanaka to the corner. He charges, but Tanaka takes the head off Cool Runnings for the 3 count. Pat Tanaka wins a match in WCW in 1996!! And what’d become Goldberg’s music hits and we’re reminded that was Pat fucking Tanaka’s music before his!
Eddie Guerrero vs Jushin Thunder Liger June 15, 1996 File this under matches that should’ve been on PPVs and not WCW D shows. Fantastic opening sequence of back & forth counters with Liger flipping out into a stalemate as Eddie hooks a headlock, shoulder block, tries for a moonsault off the ropes, but lands on his feet & Liger hits a Koppo Kick. Somersault Senton by Liger, who hits a cartwheel back elbow for 2, then a massive superplex for another near fall. Palm strikes by Liger, who lights up Eddie in the corner, but Eddie fights back with a lariat, only to get flattened with a tilt a whirl back breaker. Liger playing heel in this as he plants Eddie with a Liger Bomb 1…2…KICK OUT! Liger goes for another superplex, but Eddie knocks him off the top & hits a Frog Splash for the 3 count. Match should’ve gone like 20 more minutes, but you know that already.
Mike Enos vs Chad Brock August 25, 1996 We get a prolonged staredown with Enos drawing an invisible line and told Brock to cross it as he charges & Enos takes him down. He misses an elbow & eats a buckle, but levels Brock with a short arm clothesline. Hot Shot by Enos as Chris Cruise thanks fans for sending telegrams & letters about his appendix surgery (Dusty say only 2 people sent him something?) as Enos hits a belly to belly, but jaw jacks with the ref, gets rolled up 1…2…sadly it’s not an upset as the former Beverly hits a snap powerslam for the 3.
Glacier vs The Gambler September 8, 1996 My boy, The Gambler hits a snap jab immediately, but Glacier hits a crescent kick & arm drag. There’s a blue light on the whole match as Gambler bails to the corner. Larry Zbyszko trying to call “that Japanese style” of offense by Glacier is comical as Glacier hits a leap frog and a fucking powerbomb before going up top & hits a leaping kick for 3.
Rick Steiner vs Scott Norton October 13, 1996 Norton beats Steiner down at the bell as he misses a corner splash, gets a roll up, but Flash levels Rick with a few lariats. Hard chops as Rick reverses a whip & nails a powerslam, then an overhead belly to belly as Norton uses the tights to toss him to the outside. We go back inside immediately as Ice Train is shown ringside, distracting Norton, tripping him as Steiner hits a Steiner Line for the 3. Yikes, even for a D show, this sucked.
Disco Inferno vs Johnny Boone November 3, 1996 Jabs by Disco & a bionic elbow make Boone groggy, so Disco dishes out more stomps as he tosses Boone to the outside. He sends Boone into the post as Dusty, Larry & Cruise are making I Love Lucy references, which is insanely dated even in 96. Piledriver by Disco, who does a little shuffle & lariats him down as he tries a suplex, but Boone gets a small package 1…2…3!! Johnny Boone wins!!
Meng, Barbarian, Kevin Sullivan, Big Bubba (w/Jimmy Hart, Hugh Morrus & Maxx) vs Steve & Scott Armstrong, Mr. JL & Joe Gomez November 17, 1996 JL wiggles out of a snake eyes by Barb & hits an enzugiri before getting launched high in the air & slammed down. Steve Armstrong’s in with Meng, who promptly murders him and tags Bubba, who misses a splash. Dropkick by JL to everyone but Sullivan, who won’t bump for anything as Meng levels JL with a crescent kick for the win. Gomez, Sullivan & one of the Armstrong’s didn’t even do anything. They got dressed for nothing.
Glacier vs Mark Starr June 29, 1997 It’s so foggy in the arena from Glacier’s entrance that it looks like a Prince music video in here. Weird kick takes down Starr and a somersault flying forearm is what follows as Starr takes over with corner boots. Glacier hits a big time atomic drop, then Cryonic Kick quickly gets Glacier the win. Another 1 minute special from Pro.
Jim Duggan vs Super Calo July 13, 1997 All I can ask about this match, is why? Calo goes to work on the leg right away, but Duggan no sells, so Calo hits a diving tackle off the ropes & Duggan bumps awkwardly. Hacksaw just starts throwing right hands, wiggles the leg out (so he did sell) as he hits a hip toss & his wind up body slam before connecting with a lariat, then tapes up the fist, right hand for the 3 count. I guess Duggan just uses a taped fist in front of the ref & it’s all fine. Duggan says into the camera that he hasn’t forgotten about Hogan. Funny, he’d forgot about you Jim.
The Giant vs Vincent August 10, 1997 Virg throws the ref into Giant, tries for a boot, but gets caught & tossed down. Virgil is petrified; all he wants is Olive Garden as he gets headbutt by the big man, hits the ropes & tries for a cross body on The Giant. He hits a big backbreaker, then the Choke Slam for the easy win. Way to earn that fuck money, Virgil!

I liked the rotating ring on Pro. That's about it. WCW had way too many throwaway weekend shows.
No idea how a Liger/Guerrero match made it onto a Pro episode.

Final part of the WCW Pro rewatch. Up next is Main Event, which I'll break up into 2 parts. Then we get to Worldwide & Saturday Night, which I will warn you ahead of time, is the most matches of any WCW show that I re-watched and there are some fucking horrible matches, but also some gems as well. This rewatch will never end and YOU WILL LIKE IT DAMMIT!! I actually love doing this, because these are all matches I have zero recollection of.
Great Muta vs Mark Starr August 17, 1997 I’m at a loss, why the flying fuck is Muta on WCW Pro in 1997?? Zbyszko said he’ll buy Starr a new car if he can beat Muta. Safe bet there, Larry. Starr gets a takedown & Muta claims a hair pull. They trade arm drags & Muta gets a cheap shot, misses his snap elbow as Starr goes back to the bread & butter arm drag. They trade rights as Starr hits a clothesline for 2, but Muta reverses an Irish whip, springboard back handspring elbow & a bulldog follow. Dragon screw by Muta, who sinks in a leg lock for the quick win. Muta got like 10% of this match, which is a travesty in of itself.
Ric Flair vs Billy Kidman August 31, 1997 Quick takedown by Kidman, but Flair backs him to the corner & Woo’s at him, before Kidman gets a head scissors & Flair wiggles free. Flair has a big bump coming out of his back & it’s weird as he eye pokes Kidman & works on the left leg. Some chops are dished out in the corner, but Kidman fires back with right hands. Flair takes his back drop & two dropkicks, but Kidman misses the third. Flair misses an elbow, Kidman with a backslide 1…2…Kidman got a near fall, but Flair popped up first & turned Kidman inside out with a lariat. Knife edged chop, Flair softens up the leg & slaps on the Figure Four for the win. Flair gave Kidman a little bit & it was a solid & fun squash as a result. Naitch of course thrusts at a woman in the crowd before heading to the back.
Lex Luger vs La Parka (w/Sonny Onoo) September 21, 1997 So we start ass backwards with La Parka showing off his strength, then Luger hitting “a Japanese arm drag”. Luger works the arm, but gets tripped by Sonny & Parka hits a lariat. The Chairman puts the boots to The Total Package & he punts him in the hamstrings. Small package & cradle gets a few near falls as he chokes Luger in the ropes & I’m shocked at how much Lex is selling. La Parka struts, but misses a senton in the corner as Luger with a big back drop (it’s insane how over Lex is) as he signals for the Torture Rack, but Parka hits a boot & has Onoo hand him a chair, but it takes too long & Luger puts him in the Rack for the win.
Renegade vs Greg Valentine September 28, 1997 Who knew Hammer was still working for WCW in 97? I sure as shit didn’t as he chops away at Renegade in the corner & hits a back elbow for a 1 count. Rest hold literally seconds into the match that Renegade gets out of momentarily, but it’s right back to resting for Hammer. Knees to the gut get Renegade free as they both collide with a double clothesline. Oddly Renegade applies a rest hold, despite not being in control, so he just chokes away at Valentine, who rakes the eyes, takes his legs out, feet on the ropes & gets busted. He gloats too much as Renegade does the same exact thing & wins it this time. Valentine poses for the fans post match, again, a match that he lost.
The Giant vs Renegade October 5, 1997 Giant shoots Renegade to the corner, but he eats a boot & double axe as Renegade is taking it to him. Springboard handspring elbow in the corner, but he poses, turns around & Giant hits a huge chokeslam for the win. Bruh, don’t pose.
Syxx vs Hector Garza October 19, 1997 Syxx starts with a shoulder tackle & then does a Michinoku Driver (which Scott Hudson calls) as he misses a follow frog splash & Garza gets 2. Flapjack & a dropkick send Syxx outside as Garza does a massive cross body block, throwing Syxx back inside with a snap suplex for 2. Garza tries for a twisting moonsault, but crashes & Syxx just applies the Buzzkiller for the submission win. I had zero clue it’d be this quick (I didn’t look at the time), was hoping for so much more.
Bobby Eaton & Joey Maggs vs Keith Sherer & Kevin Northcutt October 26, 1997 Ok then, a random pairing here as Maggs hits a shoulder block on the huge Northcutt to start, but Northcutt returns the favor, only to be arm dragged down. Crescent Kick by Northcutt gets him free as Sherer tags in & gets taken down and here comes Beautiful Bobby who hits a back elbow. Headbutt & suplex cuts him off, but Bobby levels Sherer (it’s at this point where Hudson & Larry start calling the match & not recapping Fall Brawl). The match breaks down with all 4 guys inside. Eaton goes up top & hits the Alabama Jam on Sherer as Maggs just goes over & pins him as Eaton wipes out Northcutt as they win. Maggs is so happy & Eaton is just has the expression of “yup, I’m leaving.”
Squire David Taylor vs Lenny Lane November 2, 1997 They trade takedowns with the crowd popping for Lane, but the Squire gains control, Lane floats over in the corner & hits a dropkick/arm drag combo. Hard uppercuts stop Lane’s momentum as the Taylor locks in a face lock to the sounds of USA chants. It’s constant uppercuts by Taylor, but Lane fights back with a bulldog, goes to the top, but misses a twisting moonsault as Taylor hits a butterfly floatover suplex for the 3 count. Scott Hudson calls it The Crumpet, so there you go. I never knew that, since we never saw Taylor win singles matches.
Steiner Brothers (w/Ted Dibiase) vs Vicious & Delicious (w/Vincent) – Tag Team Titles November 9, 1997 Buff poses to start, shocking, as he hip tosses Scott down & poses in the camera, but Scott comes charging in & attacks with a double arm suplex. Rick levels Norton with a lariat & the Steiners do their pose as the NWO resets. For some reason Dibiase takes the ref as the NWO sneak attack Scott Steiner on the outside as he gets posted by Norton. Back inside Buff jaw jacks with Nick Patrick as Norton tags in & they keep wearing Scotty down, making quick tags. Bagwell misses an elbow as Rick is finally the legal man with 30 seconds left in this video. Dibiase clocks Vincent, Rick gets backdropped outside, Scott knocks Buff outside. Norton powerslams Scott down, but he stands up with his back to the ropes & Rick hits the bulldog for the 3 count. This match sucked.
Hugh Morrus vs Wrath (w/James Vandenberg) November 16, 1997 Zero idea the Sinister Minister still managed Wrath here. Wheel kick by Morrus, who knocks Wrath outside to start, back inside Morrus floats over a suplex & gets a school boy for 2. He gets tripped up by Vandenberg & Wrath hits a pump kick and chokes away. Randomly Mortis is standing guard at the entrance way with his back to the ring, should probably point that out. Morrus fights out of a chin lock, but gets planted with a back suplex for 2 by Wrath. Neckbreaker gets Morrus some time to recover as we get a slug fest in the center & Morrus hits a lariat. Snap powerslam by Morrus and Mortis wakes up apparently as he hits Morrus in the face with a kick while Vandenberg took the ref. Sloppy looking Death Penalty by Wrath gets him the win. These two just had terrible chemistry together.
Eddie Guerrero vs Juventud Guerrera November 23, 1997 Fast paced start with reversals aplenty as Dusty & Hudson are covering the World War 3 card instead of calling the match (the PPV was later that night). Meanwhile Eddie hits a slingshot senton, snapmare, face rake & a brainbuster for a 2 count. Eddie keeps chopping Juvi in the corner, but Juvi with a head scissors & tilt a whirl backbreaker. Juvi with a Northern Lights gets a 2 count (first move Hudson has called) as he follows with a springboard spinning leg for 2 as well. Juvi signals for the end, goes up top, but gets crotched as Eddie hits a big time superplex, then a Frog Splash for a 3 count. Fun little TV match.
Juventud Guerrera, Ciclope & Hector Garza vs La Parka, Silver King & El Dandy December 28, 1997 This show aired 1 hour before Starrcade, Mike Tenay says he’s getting on his jet to make it there in time after this, keeping kayfabe alive! Head scissors sends La Parka outside by Ciclope and since it’s lucha rules, Dandy & Garza jump in & Dandy cracks him with a pop up slap to the face. Garza hits a back drop & face buster as Juvi tags in & nails a springboard dropkick. Silver King jumps in, monkey flip, but Juvi lands on his feet, only to get draped on the top throat first. Spinning head scissors by Juvi as Dandy & Ciclope are in with Dandy hitting a wild dive on the floor. Juvi hits a dive on Dandy, Silver King with a dive on Juvi, La Parka with an Asai Moonsault on everyone, then Garza with a Corkscrew Plancha on everyone as well. La Parka recovers long enough to throw Ciclope in the ring, top rope spinning kick to the face for the 3 count. El Dandy wins a TV match!!
Chris Jericho vs Buddy Lee Parker December 28, 1997 They’re still talking about hopping on the jet for Starrcade! Are they just leaving Jericho here? Spin kick starts it for Lion Heart & then a wheel kick follows it up. Monkey flip & clothesline keeps it going for Y2J before Parker hits a Stun Gun to take over. Back suplex & an elbow off the second gets a 2 count for Sarge, who locks in a rest hold. They say nothing compares to Giant vs Nash tonight (NASH NO SHOWED! THE MATCH DIDN’T EVEN HAPPEN!) as Jericho regains control, double arm underhook backbreaker, then the Lion Tamer as he gets the submission victory.

WCW Main Event was pretty much the B show for WCW for a time next to Saturday Night, but once Nitro kicked into gear, Main Event was slowly phased out & Saturday Night became the B show, then C show once Thunder debuted. This is part 1 of 2 of the Main Event matches. Quite a few were pre-show matches before PPVs and needless to say, they weren't that good.
Nasty Boys (w/Missy Hyatt) vs Pez Whatley & Brad Anderson January 23, 1994 Poor Pez gets his ass handed to him early with both Nastys stomping him in the corner. Whatley valiantly fights back, but makes a mistake in tagging his partner, who gets cracked in the back by Sags & a clothesline by Knobbs. Double back elbow as the Nastys hit a corner splash, running powerslam & top rope elbow as the Tag Team champions get the easy win.
Diamond Dallas Page vs Terry Taylor February 27, 1994 Reviewing an early 94 match just to point out how much of a smoke show Kimberly looks in this match. Red dress, leggy, Tony is tongue-tied, so I assume Lois made him sleep on the couch that night. Rematch from Superbrawl a week prior as Taylor rushes to the ring & attacks Dallas early, but DDP turns the tide & drives the Rooster into the railing, which almost falls over into the fans. Gut buster by Page back inside as I just realized Kimberly went to the back, so why am I watching this match? DDP hits a shoulder to the midsection, then goes up top, only to get crotched by Terrific Terry. He slams Page down & gets a back drop as he hits the Five Arm and DDP heads up the ramp. Terrance tackles him & they brawl to the back, double count out. I should point out, Taylor won their match at Superbrawl clean, so why this needed to be a double countout is beyond me.
Stars & Stripes vs ? February 19, 1995 Superbrawl pre-show as the bell sounds & Vader comes out immediately in his street clothes. He goes to the ring, attacking Bagwell (how the ref didn’t see a 400 pounder attacking someone is beyond me). The Patriot knows what’s up and wants that winner’s purse, so he hit an Uncle Slam on one of the two random opponents for a 3 count in literally 20 seconds before Vader murders everyone. The two jobbers get powerbombed & then the Patriot gets one as well. That was it, but I thought it was hilarious The Patriot got that pin so he & Bagwell could go to the “pay window”.
Arn Anderson vs Johnny B Badd – Lumberjack Match February 19, 1995 Michael Buffer did introductions for a match on Main Event which was funny. Bunkhouse Buck, Paul Roma, Kevin Sullivan, Dustin Rhodes, Dave Sullivan, Blacktop Bully, Meng, Hacksaw Duggan & Alex Wright are the lumberjacks. Head scissors take over get a quick 2 from Badd as we cut to a shot of The Great Muta & Sonny Oono in the crowd as Badd works the arm, but Arn knocks him to the apron & slingshots him back in. He tries again, but Badd slingshots Arn outside as Hacksaw puts his hands on Arn. Quickly back inside Arn regains control, chucks Badd outside, who gets beat up by the heels. Back inside Johnny with a boot & atomic drop, then another before hitting a back body drop. Clothesline over the top on Arn by the heels, who helps him up as the lumberjacks start to scuffle as Badd hits a double axe off the top. Dave Sullivan is jumping the gun with his brawling as guys are just standing there. Badd goes up top, but the Bully shoves him off, Arn gets a cover & the tights 1…2…3. What a shitty lumberjack match. This was pretty much a way to get some of the guys wrestling later at Superbrawl to brawl briefly here.
Steve Austin vs Tim Horner March 19, 1995 Uncensored 95 pre-show as a back elbow starts it off for Austin, who puts the boots to Horner in the corner before Tim fires back with punches & a dropkick sending Austin outside. Col. Parker is shown at the ramp as Austin gets back in the ring, hits a Stun Gun immediately, then sets Horner up in the corner for a superplex 1…2…3. Austin & Parker walk to the back together, which just confuses me since I thought they were a pair at this time, but apparently not. They were maybe going to put them back together? They did virtually nothing with Austin in 95, which is why I watched this one to begin with.
Road Warrior Hawk vs Mark Starr July 16, 1995 One half of the Road Warriors vs one half of Men at Work on the Bash at the Beach kick off as Hawk quickly charges Starr, press slamming him down. He just punts Starr in the face in the corner, a big shoulder block, jumping fist drop, chin lock that lasted 2 seconds, knife edge chop & a choke slam. Hawk hits a gut wrench suplex, slams Starr down, then hits a diving clothesline off the top to complete the squash. Hawk then cut a promo into the camera that lasted longer than the match itself. Definition of super quick squash.
Renegade vs Paul Orndorff October 29, 1995 Halloween Havoc pre-show saw the Renegade sprint to the ring & Orndorff attacks immediately with forearms, charges in the corner & misses as Renegade hits two clotheslines & a sloppy cover for 2. Powerslam gets another 2 as Renegade follows up missing a cross body (I guess) & hangs himself up in the ropes. Orndorff with a piledriver, then another for a 1…2…3! That was it!! Remember when Renegade steamrolled Orndorff just a few months earlier to win the TV Title? Welp WCW brass already lost interest in Renegade at this point & Mr. Wonderful, who wasn’t doing much to begin with, just slaughtered this dude.
Konnan vs One Man Gang – United States Title February 4, 1996 So this is a match that is also happening at Superbrawl, so why the fuck have it now? Konnan uses his speed early to take Gang down with a shoulder tackle, but gets up & just turns his back to the big man, who clocks him with a clothesline. That was weird as Gang’s offense from there is just clubbing blows to the back & chest, until he misses a splash & Konnan clips the legs. Spin kick follows as he tackles Gang through the ropes to the floor ala Big E, as it’s Gang who gets up first & inside. Gang tries to slam Konnan back in, but he hooks the ropes, just falls on Gang & pins him. This was Konnan’s second match in WCW & he wins the title, one he has to defend against Gang at the PPV now. Classic WCW booking.
Steiner Brothers vs The Gambler & Maxx Muscle April 21, 1996 T-Bone suplex by Scott on Gambler starts it, as Big Poppa Pump hits a reverse powerslam into the corner, tags Rick & he does the same thing before hitting clubbering forearms to the dome. Poor Gambler gets murdered with a lariat as Scott comes back in & they hit a double team elbow as Rick gets a 2 count. Maxx just gets in the ring to slam Rick, doesn’t make a tag (LUCHA STYLE) as Scott jumps in & clocks him for doing so & they hit the top rope bulldog for the quick win. I love me some Gambler!
Fire & Ice vs The Blue Bloods May 12, 1996 Eaton & Taylor representing the Blue Bloods here as Ice Train leap frogs Taylor and gets literally 2 inches off the ground doing so as Taylor lights him up with uppercuts. Train gets some height on the next leap frog try & sends Taylor to the outside with a shot as he recovers & tags in Earl Robert, who ultimately gets a snap suplex by the big man. Here comes Scott Norton, who hits a big back drop as the match already breaks down & Steven Regal attacks Ice Train outside, who fights back. Norton annihilated Eaton with a shoulderbreaker as Ice Train sits down on the chest of Eaton for the 3 count. Post match, Regal & Taylor give a tongue lashing to Earl Robert as the wheels of the Blue Bloods trio are falling off.
The American Males vs Shark & Maxx Muscle (w/Jimmy Hart) May 19, 1996 These were apparently the only 4 guys not used in the Lethal Lottery later that night at Slamboree. Multiple dropkicks by Bagwell send Maxx to the corner as Riggs quickly gets in for a pin cover & 2. Maxx gets a knee to the belly well & a gut buster as Shark tags in. Zero clue John Tenta was still Shark in May of 96. I thought this gimmick was long gone. Anyways, he misses a corner splash as Riggs tries shoulder blocks, but can’t get him down, so Bagwell helps, Shark drops down & Maxx hits a DOUBLE SPEAR on the American Males!! Powerslam by Shark on Riggs, who hits a Tidal Wave splash 1…2…NO! Maxx goes after Bagwell, as Riggs again tries a cross body, but this time Maxx accidentally collides with Shark as Riggs gets the 3 count! The Males do their double clap deal & celebrate as The Giant storms out from the back. Bagwell & Riggs scatter as Giant chokeslams Shark, who apparently is done with the Dungeon of Doom now, so I was close. I love these quick random WCW matches.
VK Wallstreet vs Jim Powers June 16, 1996 The Great American Bash pre-show as we get a quick start by Powers, who hits a few snap clotheslines that send Wallstreet outside to regroup. Powers works the arm back inside, but Wallstreet hits a suplex, then a chinlock. I feared this would be a long one & it wasn’t bad as Powers knows they’re on a timer & he quickly fires back. He slams Wallstreet’s head into the corner, hits the ropes, but runs right into the Stock Market Crash for the 1…2…3. Very quick match, that probably should’ve gone longer, but again, it’s Main Event, so you get what you get.
Rock n Roll Express vs Scott Norton & Ice Train July 7, 1996 This was the Bash at the Beach pre-show on Main Event. Fire & Ice are having their troubles as a team heading into this one. Ricky quickly gets dropped with a Samoan Drop by Norton almost immediately as Ice Train tags in & just stands there before getting an arm wringer & corner splash. Norton demands a tag, chops down Ricky, then tags back in Train, who goes to the second rope for a splash, but Norton tags himself in quickly. He picks Morton up for a shoulderbreaker, but Ricky’s legs clip Ice Train, who tumbles to the floor. This distracts Norton enough for Robert to clip the leg, Ricky get a roll up 1…2…3. What an easy paycheck for Robert Gibson, hell Ricky Morton didn’t even get an offensive move in for that matter!
Rey Mysterio Jr. vs Mr. JL September 7, 1996 Jerry Lynn vs Rey Mysterio. Knees to the corner by JL, who sets Rey up in the corner, but Rey somersaults his way out & eats a hip toss and dropkick outside. JL posts Rey & drags him back inside for a back breaker submission, lets him go & hits a powerbomb for 2. To the corner we go as JL hits a draping DDT for another 2 count. JL wants another powerbomb, but Rey flips through with a West Coast Pop for the 3 count!

Rock n Roll Express vs Squire David Taylor & JL October 12, 1996 No this isn’t the Lethal Lottery; it’s just the random team of Taylor & Jerry Lynn. I love when Taylor did his Blue Bloods pose in his entrance; the masked JL looked at him & did the same pose, desperately trying to fit in. Arm drags by Robert on JL to start, but a fireman’s carry takedown answers by JL. Quick tag to Ricky & Taylor, who hits uppercuts, Ricky hits the ropes, quick tag & Taylor almost got rolled up. Robert hits the post in the corner as Squire nails uppercuts & locks in a chicken wing, tags in JL, they do a drop toehold/knee drop combo for a 2 count. JL puts the boots to Robert before tagging back in Taylor, who hits a shoulder in the corner, tries again, but eats a high knee. Hot tag to Ricky “SPEAKING OF HIGH KNEE!” says Dusty as Ricky almost rolls up JL for 2, as Ricky & Robert hit a double dropkick on JL as Robert (the illegal man) makes the cover for 3.
Chris Jericho vs Bobby Eaton November 9, 1996 Series of reversals & counters early as Jericho hits a dropkick & shoulder tackle sending Eaton to the floor. Back inside we get a test of strength with Jericho getting an arm drag out of it as Eaton slaps on a side headlock. To the ropes we go as Eaton fakes a clean break & pops Jericho in the face. Back elbow & springboard shoulder block by Jericho answers as Eaton sends him crashing into the railing. Back inside, Eaton with a swinging neckbreaker for 2 as Jericho answers with a spinning heel kick. Quickly up to the top, missile dropkick for the 3 count as this was a super rushed match, but they fit in a bit in the little time given.
The Gambler vs Dick Slater November 16, 1996 No idea Slater was still with the company, also zero idea why Gambler’s ribs are taped, but hey, It’s THE GAMBLER! Slater just beats him down immediately & chucks him outside before booting him to the floor. Gambler slowly back inside as Slater applies a rest hold, that Gambler eye rakes his way out of. That was all the offense Gambler got as Slater hits a swinging neckbreaker 1…2…GAMBLER STILL IN IT!! He throws 1 punch, but Slater heatbutts him down & punts him in the ribs. He tries for a wild right, but Nick Patrick stops him twice and Gambler fights back! He tries for a backdrop, but Slater puts the brakes on, another neckbreaker & a hard right hand, then hits a side Russian leg sweep for the win. Dammit!
Madusa vs Zero December 14, 1996 This was a semi final of the Women’s Title Tournament as Zero drops Madusa on her head within seconds, but Madusa gets a head scissors. Dusty then says Madusa “kicked the snot right out of” Zero as Dusty also says he drank too many libations last night and dreamt he had married Zero. He can’t imagine Chris Cruise waking up next to her and she yells “GIMMIE SOME COFFEE!” as they aren’t calling this match as not a lot is happening. Madusa hits three clotheslines “go for it, girlfriend!” says Lee Marshall awkwardly as Madusa gets planted with a Zero powerbomb, then goes after her own manager, Sonny Onoo, for no reason. Madusa rolls her up & gets the 3. Zero choke slammed “Sonny Bobo” repeatedly post match.
Scotty Riggs vs Squire Dave Taylor April 5, 1997 Baseball slide through the legs & a dropkick by Riggs, who snapmares the Squire down, but Taylor takes control working the wrist. Front face lock as Taylor just hits clubbing blows & shoots Riggs to the corner, but misses a splash, Riggs with two dropkicks, wants a backdrop, but gets punted & uppercut. Weird fall away slam that Taylor does a backflip out of, but he put his feet on the ropes & got caught. Riggs with a backslide for the win as Taylor was protesting he should’ve won.
Women’s Cruiserweight Title Uematsu vs Malia Hosaka April 19, 1997 This was taped at Nitro & I had zero clue that a Women’s CW title was a thing. Uematsu attacks out the gate with a bodyslam & leg drop, but Hosaka gets a sunset flip for near fall. Jumping clothesline by Hosaka, who tries for another, but crashes & burns. Stiff forearms by Uematsu & she slams Hosaka down, goes to the second rope, but misses a cross body. Hosaka with a hard lariat for 2, but she also misses a cross body & this time Uematsu nails a missile dropkick off the top for the win. Apparently she retained the title? Won the title? I don’t friggin know.
Scotty Riggs vs Mike Enos July 5, 1997 Enos attacks early, but gets dropkicked outside as Riggs poses & gets hung up throat first on the top rope. Enos charges, but Riggs with an arm drag & works the arm. Knee to the midsection in the corner by Enos, but he misses a splash & they repeat the spot. Reverse neckbreaker by Enos as he tosses Riggs outside & hangs him up on the guard rail. Back inside Riggs is slammed down, but Enos misses a splash. Riggs with a big boot, back elbow & flying forearm for the 3 count.
Chris Jericho vs Psychosis August 9, 1997 Psychosis misses clotheslines & back elbows as Jericho hits a spinning kick & a stalling vertical suplex for 2. Irish whip gets reversed as Psychosis goes to the top & hits a missile dropkick for 2 of his own. Baseball slide, then a hurricanrana attempt is countered into 2 powerbombs by Jericho, who sinks in the Liontamer for the submission win. That went 60 seconds, not kidding. Why even bother having them get dressed for that?
High Voltage vs Super Calo & Villano IV September 13, 1997 Kaos & Villano start us off with Kaos backing him to the corner & Calo immediately tags in & dropkicks Kaos down for 2. Kaos with a knee to the gut, tag to Rage, who hits a solid overhead belly to belly & clothesline. Apparently High Voltage are heels in this one as they keep trying to sucker Villano in as they double team & wear down Calo. Kaos misses a splash, so both partners tag in & Villano IV is a house of fire! Very tame spin kick, he goes to the corner for punches, but Kaos puts him on his shoulders & Rage nails a springboard spin kick that looked pretty damn impressive for the win.
Meng & Barbarian vs The Texas Hangmen September 20, 1997 Barb starts off with I guess Hangman 1, who tries for a sunset flip, Barb no sells, but gets clotheslined down for 2. They all get up & Barb destroys both of them with clotheslines to a huge pop from the crowd. Meng in & Hangman tries a belly to belly & dropkick and if you think Meng is selling that shit, get out of here. Hangman 2 gets a tag, leaps off the top & Meng damn near murders him with a botched powerslam in mid air. Barb tags in & hits a pumphandle slam, then a piledriver for 2. The Hangman take over briefly, but try to hit clotheslines & Meng just no sells the fuck out of them & superkicks one down for a near fall. It all breaks down as Meng locks on the Tongan Death Grip on one of them for the win.
Barry Darsow vs Roadblock October 25, 1997 Darsow cheap shots his opponent before the bell, but Roadblock hits a shoulder block & he goes to work the arm (like 80% of the matches do on these shows). They do a test of strength with a hammerlock, Darsow wins, tries for a cross body, but Roadblock slams him down. Roadblock is awkwardly trying to climb the ropes, but Darsow throws him off and Lee Marshall calls it the 1-800-SLAM of the Week. Darsow locks on an arm bar & keeps working the arm for literally 3 minutes. He leaps off the second & Roadblock hits a belly to belly for 2. Roadblock with a huge corner splash, tries for another, but posts his shoulder & Darsow slaps on the most awkward looking arm lock he calls Barely Legal for the win.
John Nord vs Julio Sanchez October 25, 1997 So The Berzerker lost his gimmick and is just wearing sunglasses now & has a mustache (still with the furry boots though, one knee pad too). Cool. Side Russian leg sweep is the opening move & a big boot to follow as they spill outside & he posts Julio twice & bodyslams him on the concrete. Back inside Julio tries fighting back, but gets destroyed with a shoulder tackle. Gut wrench suplex & Nord pulls him up at 1 so he can lock on a rest hold. Sure, why not. Front face suplex as he just drops elbows over & over, then drops him with a slam & a Camel Clutch for the win. Berzerker squash in 1997? Sold!
Jim Powers & Bobby Walker (w/Teddy Long) vs Buddy Lee Parker & Pat Tanaka November 8, 1997 Zero clue any of these guys (minus Parker) worked for the company at this point. Parker gets control of Powers, but makes the mistake of tagging his partner & he gets taken down by the former Young Stallion. Walker tries for a pin off a drop toe hold as Tanaka & Walker just clean break from each other & we start over. Walker fires out of the corner with a lariat & Tanaka does a 360 bump. Just like that though, Tanaka rakes the eyes & tags in Parker, but Powers tags in & hits a double axe handle. Parker & Powers have a slugfest in the middle of the ring, not kidding, as Tanaka tags in & eats a big boot. Atomic drop by Powers, tag to Walker, who hits a flying clothesline off the top on Tanaka for the 3 count. This actually wasn’t a bad match at all, just a very confusing pairing. Walker & Powers say they’re going to be the Team of the 90’s (despite this decade having 2 years left). They weren’t.
Lenny Lane vs Mike Tolbert December 13, 1997 Tolbert looks like Dan Cortese with short hair (the Mimbo from Seinfeld and MTV’s Rock n’ Jock) as he misses a corner splash & Lane with some hip tosses & dropkick that sends Tolbert outside. Lane hits a slingshot dive & Tolbert barely got ready as Lane came in. Back inside Tolbert powerbombs Lane down for 2 off a counter, then a lariat for another 2. Gut wrench suplex as Tolbert goes to the top, but gets stage fright, steps to the middle rope & still misses a splash. Lane with a head scissors takedown, misses a corner splash, but Tolbert can’t follow up as Lane hits a bulldog out of nowhere for the win. Shout out Lenny Lane, who never got to have a lot of matches like this during his run.

SO MUCH DEAD WEIGHT!
I think Roadblock's claim to fame was getting (impressively) torture racked by Luger in '96
Why did WCW need Nitro plus two weekend shows on TBS, PLUS Worldwide in syndication?

SO MUCH DEAD WEIGHT! I think Roadblock's claim to fame was getting (impressively) torture racked by Luger in '96 Why did WCW need Nitro plus two weekend shows on TBS, PLUS Worldwide in syndication? Oh I have some more Roadblock matches in the can ready to go, haha. For a time they had Nitro, Saturday Night, Worldwide, Main Event, Pro and Prime. That's insane & it was really before they took off in 98 too, so once Thunder came along, they axed a few of them. I guess WWF had a shit ton of shows too. You'd never see that with the current product. RAW, SD & Main Event for main roster.

WCW Worldwide 93-94
Yoshi Kwan (w/Harley Race) vs Keith Cole September 18, 1993 Cole is a twin & he looks like Johnny Ace and Kwan is a ridiculously racist Asian character played by Chris Champion, who, you guessed it, is not Asian. I can’t believe this character was given the green light. Cole gets the advantage to start, working hammerlocks & headlocks, but Kwan gets a chop, only to be taken down immediately by Cole. Sloppy ass arm drag, but Kwan reverses & pulls Cole down by his hair and…that’s it? It’s apparently a nerve hold and not a hair pull? Holy shit this was garbage. Best part of the match was Cole’s blonde mullet.
The Nasty Boys (w/Missy Hyatt) vs Davey Rich & Terry Travis September 25, 1993 Missy is dressed straight out of the Addicted to Love music video and I’m all for it! Sags beats up Travis in the corner & hits a big time lariat as Knobbs does the same & turns Travis inside out. Rich tags in & quickly gets booted in the face & given a Pit Stop as they hit the corner splash, running powerslam & top rope elbow for the 3 count. “Look at Missy, bouncing all over the place” says Jesse Ventura.
Ric Flair & Paul Roma vs The Wrecking Crew October 30, 1993 Roma gets early dropkicks on both Crew members as they have to regroup or talk about their matching rat tails. Flair in, who dishes out some chops, only to be powerslammed down & double teamed in the corner by the Crew. Gorilla Press by one of the Crew, as they are taking it to Naitch, who thankfully fights back before he has to sell any more for these goofs. As I type that, he eats a lariat & bodyslam, but Naitch is up, throwing chops & right hands, then takes his corner flip and HITS THE DOUBLE AXE HANDLE! He tags Roma, who hits a big splash for the win. Flair hit his axe handle, that’s historic.
Shockmaster vs Sugar Daddy December 11, 1993 This is Ice Train vs Typhoon for those unaware, which is weird because he’s been Ice Train already. Shockmaster hits a corner splash, then another as he whips Daddy off the ropes & hits a big boot. Big clothesline & a bear hug slam is what does it for the Shockmaster as he should be proud for not tripping in the process.
Nasty Boys (w/Missy Hyatt) vs The Cole Twins December 11, 1993 Missy looking real Hooter-rific as I forgot how much I loved her as a heel with the Nastys. Knobbs fakes an eye poke to get the ref & Sags clocks a Cole in the back to give the Nastys the advantage. Elbows aplenty by Knobbs as he tags Sags, who hits a forearm & snap mare. Knee drop to the dome, but as Knobbs tags in, he gets arm dragged down by Keith as he tags Kent & they work the arm. They do a cut to the crowd with zero explanation & it’s to repeat the spot you can tell, so they must’ve really screwed up a dropkick by Cole. Nastys are back in control & trade quick tags with a corner splash, then a powerslam/top rope elbow combo for the easy win. Not enough camera cuts of Missy unfortunately.
Nasty Boys (w/Missy Hyatt) vs Charlie Norris & Erik Watts December 11, 1993 This is labeled the same date as the previous match, so I don’t know if it’s a typo or what, but we get Hooter-rific Missy again, so I’m not complaining, I loved grunge/rock Missy. Anyways, the Nastys take turns beating the shit out of Watts as Norris tries (and fails) getting a crowd clap going. Finally Watts hits a hip toss & dropkick on Sags as Norris tags in with a top rope chop. That’s literally all he does, chop, until Sags drops an elbow on his dome. Nastys hit a corner splash & Knobbs already says they’re going home as the Tag Team Champions hit the running powerslam/top rope elbow combo for the easy win.
Vader vs Randy Hogan January 22, 1994 Well, this was a shot at the Hulkster as Randy was a clone of Hogan, down to the bald head & mustache. Bell sounds & Vader absolutely murders him with a left hook, then presses him over his head down to the mat. World’s Strongest Slam & a splash that Vader hit the ropes 5 times before hitting. He obviously pulled Hogan up to dish out corner punches, bodyslams him down, then hits a Vader Bomb out of the corner, but he’s not done. Vader hits a twisting splash (I’ve never seen him do that) as the ref puts a 10 count on Hogan and that’s it. Next week, Vader wrestles Hulk Savage.
Nasty Boys (w/Missy Hyatt) vs Randy Hogan & Scott Sandlin February 19, 1994 Fairly confident this was Missy's last time with the Nastys and her time with WCW was coming to an end this month, I think. Good to see Hogan has recovered since last month’s destruction at the hands of Vader. Quick tags by the Nastys, who light up Sandlin & Knobbs hits a leg drop before Sags sends Sandlin into his partner and Hogan tags in TO A POP FROM THE CROWD!! He promptly gets murdered with a corner splash by Knobbs as they hit their powerslam/top rope elbow combo for the win. Ventura had way too much fun calling the moves Hogan was taking.
Steve Austin vs Mark Starr April 16, 1994 Clean break by Austin in the corner as he stares down Starr, who hits an arm drag & works the arm, nearly getting a pin, but Austin obviously gets out & starts beating Starr down. Second rope diving forearm for a 2 count as Austin grabs an arm, but Starr sends him to the corner, hits some jabs, but misses a follow up dropkick. Austin drags Starr up & hits the Stun Gun for the easy win.
Sting vs The Gambler August 13, 1994 This is at MGM Studios outside, so Sting drives in on a motorcycle. Hip toss by Sting to start as Gambler claims he grabbed his tights. Cheap shot by Gambler, who punches away, but Sting hits a backdrop & Tony puts over Thunder in Paradise on commentary. Stinger Splash & Scorpion Death Lock win it for the Stinger as Jesse Ventura doesn’t mention Hogan or his show at all, gee, I wonder why?
The Bruise Brothers vs Joey Maggs & Todd Morton September 10, 1994 A few months before they signed to WWF as the Blu Brothers as shockingly Morton & Maggs have matching gear. Morton hits a dropkick, then they hit a double dropkick as the other Bruise Brothers jumps in to put a stop to that. Bischoff & Ventura aren’t identifying which Brother is which as they just beat the crap out of poor Joey Maggs & drop him with a double spinebuster for the 3 count. If WWF signed them off this match, I have zero idea why, because this was awful.
Ron Simmons vs Scott Armstrong September 10, 1994 No clue Simmons was heel, let alone with WCW at this point. Simmons misses some clotheslines as Armstrong gets a school boy for 2, then a dropkick, but leaps off the second with a cross body, gets caught & slammed down. He shoots Armstrong to pillar to post, then hits a vertical suplex. Armstrong floats over a bodyslam, hits the ropes & Simmons drives him down with a spinebuster for 3.
Honky Tonk Man vs Terry Taylor October 1, 1994 I think Honky had a little while left before getting the axe from Bischoff, so he’s here taking on the former Rooster, who gets the boots put to him by Honky in the early going, as Honky dishes out right hands to the face & checks his hair before Rooster fires back. Crowd fully behind Taylor, who hits a big back drop, but lowers his head & Honky drops an elbow, then the Shake, Rattle & Roll for a pretty damn quick victory considering who is opponent was.
Alex Wright vs Rip Rogers November 5, 1994 So this is before Wright started his dancing, so he had to be like 12 here. Rip gets some takedowns, but Wright immediately counters them all as he pops up & works the arm, kipping up & cartwheeling out of an arm wringer by Rip & takes him down. Headlock, shoulder, drop down, blocked hip toss by Wright, who hits a head scissors & flying forearm sending Rip outside. Wright does a cross body clearing the top to the outside & goes up top, tries a moonsault, but Rip was already on his feet near the corner & Wright missed him completely. Wright did land on his feet & just hit a belly to belly for the win.
Nasty Boys vs Southern Posse November 5, 1994 Zero clue who the Posse are, as this isn’t the Mean Street one, these are two rejects from Winger. Sags takes one down with a back suplex & tags Knobbs as they hit a double tackle. He tosses the Posse dude into his partner to get him in & beaten down as Sags tags back in, then immediately tags Knobbs (why??) so Knobbs hits a splash. Nastys hit their running powerslam/top rope elbow for the quick win. This was mainly to show off their new entrance music. I care so much less about the Nastys without Missy. Gee, shocker there.
Diamond Dallas Page (w/Kimberly) vs Buddy Wayne November 5, 1994 Blacktop Bully is sitting ringside & heckling as DDP tosses Buddy down & gets a kiss from Kimberly for doing so. Buddy gets a small package for 2 & a school boy for 1, but Dallas turns him inside out with a lariat. He’s pissed Kim held up a 6, but she had it upside down & gave him a 9. Buddy with dropkicks sending Page to the floor & he tries a slingshot cross body, but gets caught & Page hits a back breaker. Back inside, short arm clothesline & the Diamond Cutter connect for the easy win. I wonder how early Page started using the Cutter?

Thank you for providing my new avatar! I had to update mine after I saw how good yours looked.
Everyone on this board should have mid 90s WCW jobbers as their avatar, haha.

WCW Worldwide 1995 Lord Steven Regal vs Brian Armstrong January 14, 1995 Oh, you didn’t know? This had to be taped like a month in advance as this wad Road Dogg, who I thought was already Jeff Jarrett’s Roadie, but apparently not. Side headlock by Dogg, but Regal reverses, yet Roadie gets a small package for 2. He tries for a headbutt, but gets clocked with uppercuts as Regal punts him in the face. More uppercuts as Roadie gets 1 punch before Regal drops him with a butterfly suplex for 2. Regal with like the 8th uppercut at this point, shoots Dogg to the corner & he eats a back elbow & then a weird takedown. Dogg with a back drop as he dishes out more right hands, tries for a sunset flip 1…2…Regal jumps over & gets a roll up for the 3 count. This was a fun little match & I assume Road Dogg’s last WCW match. Randy Savage vs Frankie Lancaster March 18, 1995 Eye poke & cheap shot by Frankie as Savage creams him with a lariat as a result, then a back elbow that sends him outside. Top rope double axe by Macho, who tosses him back inside, bodyslam, top rope elbow drop for the 1…2…3. Easy day at the office for Savage, who goes into the crowd & raises a child in the air, high fiving fans. Man of the people, Macho Man Randy Savage.
Frank Andersson vs Manny Fernandez April 15, 1995 Anderson is if you chose Template 1 on a wrestling video game for create a wrestler and just hit Finish, without making any changes. He’s that generic as he gets an arm drag, which Manny says he grabbed his tights, but I don’t know how that’s possible in an arm drag? Manny grabs the head, but Frank gets a leg sweep & Manny bails. Frank goes back to the arm & tries a cradle for 2 as Manny again says he has the tights. Manny tries some kicks, but Frank gets a leg sweep that Manny comically sells. Manny misses a splash in the corner as Frank hits a belly to belly for the 3 count. 83 Weeks, Bischoff said Frank was an Olympic wrestler from Sweden that he signed personally. He said he had a great personality & spoke Swedish & English. Bischoff said he found gold in Stockholm, but it didn’t work out due to woman issues.
Kevin Sullivan vs The Man with No Name May 13, 1995 I’m not typing that name out every time he does something; it’s Brutus Beefcake, who doesn’t want to go by Butcher any longer. The ring is still rotating as the match starts & Sullivan attacks. Brutus turns the tide & puts the boots to him, choking away. He does a crazy chop that Sullivan bumps for & then gets stomped in the midsection as Brutus dishes out 10 turnbuckles. Cheap shot by Sullivan, who posts Brutus, but he starts no selling while on the apron, gets back in & sinks in the Sleeper, but here comes Avalanche. The former Earthquake beats down Brutus & sets him up in the Tree of Woe as Sullivan hits the running knee. They beat him down & no one helps Brutus, who has burned every bridge in WCW at this point, so why would they?
Ric Flair & Vader (w/Arn Anderson) vs Los Dos Amigos May 20, 1995 Amigos are already in the ring, but they look pretty jacked (hmmm…). Vader slaps one of them as the Amigos cower in fear as Renegade runs ringside & clocks Arn, then hits a double clothesline on Vader & Flair and the Amigos pounce & start dishing out punishment! They unmask and it’s SAVAGE & HOGAN!!! Hulk & Renegade hit double big boots as Flair & Vader scatter to the back! The babyfaces pose as we see a child in the crowd holding a Jimmy Hart action figure, which is just great. We then get a post “match” promo with Savage & Hulk wearing the masks again & also their oversized hat & bandana merch. It’s amazing.
Tex Slazenger vs Eddie Jackie July 8, 1995 So Tex is the future Phineas Godwin, who used to tag with Shanghi Pierce, who was Henry Godwin (he’s already in the WWF at this point), so Tex is on the way, I assume just finishing his contract? Anyways, Jackie works the arm early, but Tex turns him inside out with a lariat. Brutal back suplex, then a neck crank with the feet as he tries a back drop, but Jackie gets a sunset flip for 2. He goes up top, only to get caught & thrown down by Tex, who hits a SLOP DROP for the 3. So he kept the finish before heading to WWF. He had stiffer competition next week…
Randy Savage vs Tex Slazenger July 15, 1995 Savage attacks before he takes any of his gear off & climbs the ropes as the ring is still rotating, but gets a double axe handle anyway. Back inside, he bodyslams Tex down, goes up top, elbow drop 1…2…3. All Savage lost was his hat during that, as he kept his jacket on and everything. Poor Tex, I’m sure Henry was waiting for you up North.
Vader vs Johnny Boone September 9, 1995 Vader launches Boone to the corner & then drops him right on his shoulder with a choke slam. Body tackle & some brutal corner punches light Boone up as Vader presses him high over his head & drops him with a Vader Bomb, then a powerbomb for the easy win. Vader straight up murdered this dude with the powerbomb, right on his shoulder. It’s like he was hell bent on dislocating that son bitch.
Hawk vs Terry Richards September 23, 1995 Rhyno vs Hawk as the Road Warrior attacks the Man Beast at the bell with a flying shoulder, then some boots. Bodyslam & his leaping fist drop as Hawk slaps on a Dragon Sleeper of all moves for a few seconds before letting go & climbing to the top, flying clothesline for the 3 count. Poor Rhyno.
Diamond Dallas Page (w/Kimberly) vs Tim Horner WCW Television Title October 7, 1995 Horner shoots DDP off the ropes out of a headlock & gets a hip toss and dropkick, but DDP hits a back elbow & demands the Diamond Doll hold up a 10, which she does. We see the camera guy tap Kimberly on the shoulder to get her to look & talk, which I thought was funny. Back to action, Page tries a slam, but Horner got a roll up for 2, then a roll up with a bridge for another 2. DDP with a tilt a whirl side slam, hooks the leg & gets the 3! Rare time he didn’t win with the Diamond Cutter or that front face piledriver thing he does. Have I mentioned Kimberly was a smoke show?
Ric Flair vs Bunkhouse Buck (w/Col. Robert Parker) October 7, 1995 Hammerlock into a takedown by Flair, who struts around & mocks Buck, who grabs an arm & slams Flair into the corner. Naitch fires back with chops, but it’s Buck who shoots Flair to the corner & he does his Flair flip as Buck drops him with a boot. Camel Clutch applied by Buck, despite Flair’s feet being in the ropes, so he gets up & Flair does another Flair bump in the corner. He finally starts fighting back with right hands & chops, but Buck clotheslines him to the mat. FLAIR DOES A CORNER FLAIR FLIP AGAIN, but Buck misses a boot, Flair with a flying forearm 1…2…3! Wow, I’ve never seen Flair take that many corner flip bumps in my life in one match. And he did it here…on Worldwide.
Randy Savage vs Dick Slater (w/Col. Parker) October 7, 1995 Elbows to the corner by Slater & a hip toss that Savage pops up from; he grabs a headlock, but gets sent outside by a back elbow. They brawl briefly, but Slater scatters into the ring & calls timeout, but suckers Savage in & tries for his leg, but eats a boot to the face. Elbow to the dome by Mach, who posts Slater’s leg multiple times. That’s what Savage zeros in on before Slater punts him in the head with his good leg. Back elbow drops Savage as Slater hits a Piledriver, but Savage rolls to the floor. Slater tries for another, but Savage back drops out, hits a back elbow, then goes up top for the double axe handle, but Slater catches him! Parker takes the ref as Slater undoes his boot, but Savage gets to it before he does & waffles him! Top rope, elbow drop, 1…2…3! Clever ending as Slater’s boot literally flew up in the air as he was struggling to get it off & Savage got it first.
Diamond Dallas Page (w/Kimberly) vs Cobra November 4, 1995 Wow, Kimberly is wearing a short dress. Page is no longer the TV champ, losing to Johnny B Badd as he works an arm of Cobra, who reverses a wrist lock, so DDP grabs the ropes. Page with a back elbow knocks down future Sting as Kimberly gives him a 10, but he gets popped by Cobra, who drops Page with a shoulder tackle for 2. Page sent to the corner as Cobra dishes out punches, but we see Craig Pittman emerge from the smoke of the entrance in full camouflage & bullets, which is scary, as this distracts Cobra long enough for Page to roll him up for 3. Pittman took literally 3 steps out of the entrance, then walked to the back.
Harlem Heat vs Blue Bloods December 9, 1995 WCW Tag Team Titles Stevie & Regal start, with the big man knocking down his Lordship before tagging Booker, who nails a flying forearm. Just like that, Regal hits a German Suplex that drops Book on his head, then tags Eaton, but hits a butterfly suplex before leaving. Eaton hits a shoulder tackle, misses a clothesline & Book hits a Harlem side kick. For some reason Col. Parker is ringside on a brick sized cell phone (95, people!) as back inside, Regal & Eaton have been trading tags & isolating Booker as Eaton goes up for the Alabama Jam & hits it! Tag to Regal, who slaps on the Regal Stretch, but Stevie quickly breaks it up. Tag back to Eaton, who knocks Booker down as Regal & Stevie start brawling. Eaton rolls up Booker, is a sitting duck as Stevie hops in & clocks him with a boot with Regal arguing with the ref as he turns around & makes the 3 count. A few good suplexes by Regal but aside from that, bad match.
Mr. JL vs Koji Kanemoto (w/Sonny Onoo) December 16, 1995 Spinning leg lock by Kanemoto to start, but JL nearly gets a small package for 2. Kanemoto kips up from a shoulder tackle, hits a dropkick, then a slingshot plancha to the floor. However, JL quickly recovers & hits a somersault dive. Back inside, they duck kicks & JL gets a German suplex for a close 2, but he misses a follow up dive off the top. Kanemoto nails a spinning somersault senton & just keeps punting away at JL, who fights back, slamming Kanemoto down, but JL wildly misses a legdrop (I guess?) as Kanemoto slams him down, misses a moonsault, lands on his feet & JL hits a powerbomb 1…2…NO! JL wants a German, but Kanemoto reverses into a Dragon Suplex 1…2…3! Damn, 4 minutes and this ruled.
Disco Inferno vs Paul Orndorff December 16, 1995 One of the best entrance music in history as Mr. Wonderful walks out to his WONDERFUL song sang as he makes out with a mirror. Disco is trying to check his hair in the mirror & this infuriates Orndorff, who cheap shots Disco, hits a Piledriver & gets the 3 count in record time. Disco has zero clue what happened, but is thrilled his hair is ok. Orndorff meanwhile, cradles the mirror like a baby, then makes out with it, which is, well, it’s something.
Cobra vs One Man Gang December 16, 1995 Gang attacks before the bell & doesn’t even let Cobra get his jacket off as he’s choking away & beating the shit out of him. How can he see him, Cobra is decked in camouflage? Just like that, Gang hits the 747 splash & wins it. I’d ask why the ref even rang the bell, but it’s Nick Patrick, so there’s your answer.

Looking up some of these names is fascinating. Usually you can find a backstory on anyone. But some of these guys were just Florida and Georgia indy guys. Andersson was trained by Brad Rheingans, so Bischoff probably did have a big hand in signing him.

Worldwide 1996 (Part 1) Bunkhouse Buck & Dick Slater vs Men at Work January 6, 1996 Buck & Mark Starr kick things off as Starr gets a back drop & dropkick as he drags Buck to his corner and applies a half crab. It’s weird; Men at Work are cheating here and are clearly the babyface team. Kanyon tags in and works the leg of Buck, but Buck throws a wild right & clocks Kanyon. Slater in, who punches away in the corner, snapmaring Kanyon down & stepping on his face. Buck tags in, but gets taken down by Kanyon, who tries a moonsault & misses badly. Kitchen sink knee as Slater gets back in, wipes out Starr on the apron as Buck & Slater beat down Starr, tossing him outside, then hit a double right hand on Kanyon for the 3. You heard me right, their finish was a double right hand.
Dave Sullivan vs Big Bubba Rogers January 13, 1996 Bubba tries to steal Ralph the Rabbit and his rabbit house (that’s right) as Dave stops him and HITS BUBBA WITH THE RABBIT HOUSE! Heenan is baffled & questions where he works as Bubba uppercuts Sullivan back inside, but Evad fights back with corner punches. The ref has to pull Dave off Bubba, who goes into his pants, taping his fist up with a roll of quarters & clocks Sullivan, covers Evad for the win in one of the worst matches I’ve ever seen.
Disco Inferno vs Mr. JL January 27, 1996 Disco with clubbing shots in the corner and a back elbow as we get a little booty shaking before he tosses JL to the floor. Boogie time as he drags JL back inside, bodyslamming him down for 1. Heenan says there isn’t a better feeling in the world than booting someone in the gut. Head scissors by JL, as he gets a headlock & messes up the hair of Disco, who slams JL down. Disco wants a back suplex out of the corner, but JL spins into a sunset flip for the 3 count! Disco wasted too much time dancing yet again.
Johnny B. Badd (w/Kimberly) vs Brad Armstrong March 16, 1996 This has to be the last we see of Badd as he’s WWF bound super soon as we get a solid back & forth of chain wrestling and counters with a good show of sportsmanship between the two. Tony says Brad Armstrong will be a champion sometime soon, which sadly wasn’t true as Armstrong was a great wrestler. Arm drag by Badd as they take turns working each other’s arms, Badd with a school boy for 2, then we get a clean break in the corner. Armstrong tries a back suplex, but Badd floats over, gets a roll up for the quick 3. Wow, that was a weird match.
Hulk Hogan vs Shark March 23, 1996 Hulkster slumming it here this week as he gets a Summerslam 90 rematch as he throws rights early, raking the eyes in the ropes, chopping Shark in the throat & already dropping him with a clothesline. Elbow drops & right hands as he clotheslines Shark in the corner as this is all Hogan (shockingly) as Shark gets a knee to the ribs, his first offense, before trying for a bearhug. Hogan doesn’t have time for that shit as he immediately gets out, but eats a bodyslam. Shark misses an elbow as Hogan hits a big boot, but Shark goes outside. They brawl on the floor & HOGAN HITS CHAIR SHOTS TO THE BACK OF SHARK, tosses him back inside & Nick Patrick just counts the 3 because why fucking DQ Hogan? So fucking stupid.
Ice Train vs Maxx Muscle March 30, 1996 Clean break twice as Maxx gets a shoulder, but Train leap frogs him, hitting a big lariat. Miss of an elbow by Train as Maxx bodyslams him down, but misses an elbow of his own. Train lets out a big CHOO CHOO, slams Maxx down & hits a standing splash for the 3. Heenan said it “was an Eddie Guerrero type leap in the air” which, what in the hell are you talking about, Brain?
The Giant vs “2 Masked Men Right Here” May 4, 1996 That’s how Tony announced Giant’s opponents as he has zero clue either. They’re two dudes wearing generic tights & masks. Giant hits butt bumps in the corner & immediately choke slams one masked dude, then the other as Tony & Bobby don’t dive two shits about naming these ham & eggers.
Men at Work vs Manny Fernandez & Bart Sawyer May 11, 1996 I love how they had road signs set up for Starr & Kanyon. They even have blue prints they go over before the match. 10 seconds in and Manny botches a dropkick, but hits a picture perfect armdrag on Kanyon. Sawyer tags in as they go after the arm of Kanyon, then hits a dropkick and clothesline. Kanyon sends him to the floor as Starr bodyslams him down “on the roadside area” as Tony tells us. Kanyon suplexes Bart back inside for 2 as they take turns dropping elbows before Bart scurries to tag in Manny. Somersault senton out of the corner by Manny 1…2…foot on the rope. Kanyon answers with a back breaker “crowbar maneuver” as they hit an assisted powerslam off the second rope “THE HUMAN CEMENT MIXER!!” as Tony informs us for the 3 count. Holy shit, THE HUMAN CEMENT MIXER!
The Giant vs Jim Duggan – WCW World Title May 18, 1996 Boot to the throat in the corner “you’re at the sole of the Giant” says Tony, which is a line that pops Dusty. Hacksaw fights back with punches, but Giant no sells & just sits on him in the corner. Duggan tries to bodyslam the big man, but no luck. Heaven help us, a bearhug applied by Giant, as we’re 40 seconds into this and we have a rest hold. Duggan wraps the hand with tape, punches away, but Giant no sells what’s been Duggan’s gimmick for a year and just choke slams him for the 3.
Eddie Guerrero vs Steve Doll May 25, 1996 Arm drag by Eddie early, but Doll gets a snap mare takedown to answer. Shoulder block & dropkick send Doll to the outside to regroup as Doll gets a cheap shot & takes over with a clothesline and knee drop for 2. Boot to the corner by Eddie, who turns Doll inside out with a lariat & hits 10 punches in the corner. Doll cuts Eddie off & goes for a superplex, but Eddie sends him to the mat & hits a quick Frog Splash for 3. I actually dug this match a lot. It stands out a lot compared to the duds we’ve gotten on this show.
DDP vs Fit Finlay June 8, 1996 DDP keeps claiming of hair pulls as Finlay literally takes him down by his nose. DDP bails outside, long enough to call a fan a fat pig before getting back inside slowly. Finlay clocks Dallas with a lariat as they spill to the floor, where Fit slams him into the apron. Big bodyslam on the hard floor as Dallas fights back & we head back inside. Finlay eats a corner boot, but Finlay hits a lariat to answer. He charges in the corner, but Page moves and Finlay posts his shoulder. DDP with a Diamond Cutter for the 3 count. Finlay popped right up and no sold, but still got pinned.
Steiner Brothers vs Fire & Ice June 8, 1996 Amazing when Rick Steiner is the smallest guy in the match. Full nelson slam by Scott on Norton immediately and almost drops him on his neck. Norton answers with a shoulder tackle & brutal shoulderbreaker for 2. Norton already hit his finisher 30 seconds in. Train & Rick tag in as Train hits a belly to belly for 1. Train misses a corner splash as Rick hits a massive hip toss & Steiner line for 2. Chinlock by Steiner slows this down in a hurry as Train jawbreaks hit way free. Scott tags in & hits a belly to belly for 2 as Norton breaks it up and the match breaks down. Brawling on the floor leads to a double countout and a rematch would happen at the Great American Bash.
Mr. JL vs Brad Armstrong June 22, 1996 Armstrong works the arm for what feels like minutes before JL reverses into a hammerlock, but hits a snap arm drag, going to an arm bar. That’s all this match is, arm drags & arm bars aplenty for 95% of this match as JL gets a roll up for 2, then a top rope missile dropkick, but goes to the well once too many as Brad rolls through a cross body off the top for 2, then hits the Side Russian Leg Sweep for 3. Wish these two would’ve done more than armbars & arm drags.
Sting vs Mike Enos (w/Col. Parker) June 22, 1996 This is the debut of The Mauler Mike Enos and he’s got a tough task as he misses a corner splash & Sting dropkicks him to the outside. Parker fans his client as the Mauler regroups, hitting knees to the gut & hits a fall away slam on the Stinger. Enos dives at him, but Sting lowers the shoulder and Enos crashes outside again. Sting steals Parker’s cowboy hat & goes to stomp on it, but Enos tries sneaking up from behind & gets an axe handle. You live by the Stetson, you die by the Stetson says Heenan as Enos locks on a bear hug. Parker is still on the ropes as Sting sends Enos colliding with his manager, he boots the leg out of the Mauler and submits him with a Scorpion Death Lock for the win. We’re told Parker threw the towel in and Enos didn’t quit. I should point out, Parker didn’t even have a towel to throw.
The Giant vs Kensuke Sasaki June 29, 1996 What the hell is Sasaki doing here? I know he’s wrestling Giant, but c’mon, we know how this will end. Giant no sells everything Sasaki throws at him, chops, kicks, punches, everything, Giant just stands there and Choke Slams Sasaki for the quick 3. They wasted Sasaki here and it sucks.

Really disappointing that they squashed Kensuke Sasaki on a syndicated show. I mean, I know the Giant was the World Champion but still...Sasaki deserved more respect than that.
Also weird that Sting gave that much offense to Mike Enos, and couldn't even get a decisive win...over Blake fucking Beverly.
Sad to see how WCW devalued John Tenta. I know Hogan was his buddy and Hogan got him a nice WCW paycheck but Earthquake used to be a killer. Now he's a Shark.

Worldwide 1996 (Part 2)
Public Enemy vs Steiner Brothers July 13, 1996 Seconds into the match, Scott powerslams Rocco into the corner. Then almost kills him with a tilt a whirl side suplex for 2. Grunge & Rick tag in as the Dog Faced Gremlin clocks him with a clothesline & elbow, but Rocco blindsides him to the outside. Grunge tries setting up Rick on the table set up as Rocco takes out Scott. The Steiners fight back (how this isn’t a double countout) as we’re all back inside and Rick applies a fucking chinlock. Rocco tosses Rick through the ropes, almost breaking the table as Rocco does a dive & goes through the table, missing Rick. Scott suplexes Grunge as Rick hits the top rope bulldog for the 3 count. Pretty bad match to be honest. Table spot was unnecessary & forced.
Randy Savage vs Meng July 13, 1996 Savage gets corner shoulders to the gut, but we get a weird camera cut to fans as Savage goes up top, as I think he might’ve botched something, since we go back to the ring & Savage is on the apron & launched back inside. Brutal back suplex by Meng for 2, who lights up Savage with corner chops & boots. Piledriver by Meng 1…2…foot on the rope. Repeated headbutts by the Tongan, who hits a side backbreaker for another 2. Meng goes to the top & connects with a diving headbutt 1…2…NO! To the floor, Meng chops away, posting Savage in the process, trying for a countout win, but he breaks up his own count. He tries for a splash against the post & Savage moves. Back inside, Meng goes to the top, but Savage launches him crotch first onto the ropes. Bodyslam, top rope elbow & a 3 count does it. Wish I liked this match more, but I didn’t. Meng did hit a sweet piledriver though.
Booty Man (w/Booty Babe) vs Manny Fernandez July 20, 1996 Must be cold in the studio, right Kimberly? Anyways, Booty hits a cross body for 2 as Manny rolls to the floor and claims of a pull of the tights. Manny gets taken down by the arm as Booty whips him off the ropes, punch to the midsection, knee lift & the HIGH KNEE for the 3 count. This gimmick was terrible, but Kimberly was insanely hot, so there's that.
Billy Kidman vs Psychosis July 27, 1996 Hair pull takedown by Psychosis early as they trade wrist locks & leap frogs with Kidman dropkicking his opponent outside & nails a slingshot cross body. Back inside Psychosis nails a spinning wheel kick off the top rope for 2 as Heenan says Kidman will be good once he puts some muscle on. Heenan was right on the money with that one. Guillotine Legdrop off the top on a hung up Kidman gets another close 2 as Psychosis keeps toying with Kidman, who hits a tilt a whirl head scissors to fight back. Psychosis misses a diving legdrop in the corner & Kidman quickly goes up & hits a Shooting Star Press for the 3 count! Biggest win in Kidman’s WCW career thus far.
John Tenta vs Konnan September 14, 1996 Tenta has what would become Chris Jericho’s WCW heel theme and it’s just weird. Konnan attacks at the bell, punching away in the corner as Tenta is still selling getting his head half shaved by Big Bubba, like 4 months later. Tenta battles back with shoulders to the midsection & steps on the sternum of K-Dogg repeatedly, then drops an elbow and leg drop for 2. Tenta misses a corner splash, but Konnan tries a cross body & gets powerslammed down. Tenta goes to the second rope, but misses whatever the heck he was trying wildly. Konnan goes to the top & hits a somersault senton for the 3. This match was terrible.
VK Wallstreet vs Ice Train September 14, 1996 Train with a bodyslam, but Wallstreet hits him with an awkward clothesline. Train fights back, working the arm, but Wallstreet gets a cheap shot, raking the eyes. Hip toss by Ice Train as Wallstreet misses a corner splash & Train connects with his leaping splash for the quick win. Poor Wallstreet, this went 90 seconds, which was probably for the best, but damn.
Super Calo vs Brad Armstrong September 21, 1996 This is Calo’s WCW debut as Brad gets a takedown early & works the arm, but Calo flips & kicks out. Single leg takedown by Calo & a snapmare as he jumps on the back of his head before slapping on a headlock. Calo springs off the top & hits a body block and spinning arm drag as Brad goes outside. Calo dropkicks him down & hits a somersault senton flying to the floor. Back inside, tilt a whirl side slam, but misses a top rope dropkick as Brad hits a back body drop, clothesline that drops Calo on his neck, then the Side Russian Legsweep for the 3. Not the debut you’d expect from Calo as Bobby Heenan says Mary Poppins is dating Super Calo (as in supercalifragilisticexpialidocious). I love you Bobby.
Madusa vs Lelani Kai October 19, 1996 Heenan screams in horror as Kai walks to the ring, saying she looks like a bottle of salad dressing. Holy shit, haha. Madusa out and Brain says she’d make Willie Nelson look good. This is a rematch from Wrestlemania 10 as we get a test of strength, but Kai gets a cheap boot to the belly welly & hair mares. Heenan is roasting Kai this match as he’s refusing to call any action. Head scissors by Kai as Brain says it’s a good thing she doesn’t have it on Madusa’s Adam’s Apple. Madusa fights back with hair mares of her own & a bodyslam for 2 due to a rope break. Flying forearm by Kai as Madusa gets a schoolgirl out of nowhere for the lackluster win. Post match Kai attacks briefly and Madusa escapes.
Rick Steiner vs Ron Studd October 26, 1996 Studd chokes away & beats up Steiner in the corner, who just takes the punishment as the former Yeti hits a back elbow & big boot. Steiner ducks a clothesline & chop blocks the leg of the big man, putting the boots to his face as he quickly goes up top, bulldog as Studd gets to his feet & gets murdered by a clothesline as Steiner gets 1…2…KICK OUT but the referee says it’s 3. Ok, then.
Rey Mysterio vs Disco Inferno October 26, 1996 Disco wastes no time attacking Rey and checking his hair before nailing a Hot Shot & hip swivel for good measure. Shake, Rattle & Roll neckberaker as Disco poses before hitting a suplex, tossing Rey outside. Mysterio uses his speed to hang up Disco in the ropes & hits a springboard leg drop as Rey tries a hurricanrana, but Disco powerbombs out of it for 2. He’s too busy doing the hustle as Rey recovers with a springboard dropkick & the West Coast Pop for the 3. Heenan scolds Disco for dancing too much instead of going after Rey. It’s like this was the first time he saw Disco.
Scott Norton vs Mike Marcello November 2, 1996 Marcello pounces & tries for a sleeper early, but Norton just slams him in the corner, murdering the poor guy with a chop to the throat. Big time clotheslines as Norton just stands there taking some punches. Marcello’s ear is taped up and Heenan is convince it’s foaming as Tony is baffled. Norton dares Marcello to hit him, just so he can strike him back down. This is all this is, Norton beating the shit out of Marcello with chops & punches. Finally he demolishes him with a shoulder breaker for the easy 3. This was stiff as hell.
Chris Jericho vs Prince Iaukea November 16, 1996 “Oh boy, Prince Iaukea is here.” That’s how Tony introduced the Prince as Jericho comes out to his super underrated babyface music that I loved. Clothesline by Jericho early as the crowd is fully behind him, as they trade arm drags & dueling dropkicks. Handshake by both as they trade arm drags & Jericho works over the arm with his patented ARMBAR, then cross face. Spin wheel kick by Jericho, but Prince gets a roll up for 2, then tries a springboard cross body & Jericho gets a dropkick in mid air. He demolishes poor Prince with a standing dropkick for 2 as he suplexes him down & nails the Lionsault for 3.
Glacier vs Pat Tanaka November 23, 1996 Blue Light Special for Glacier again as he leg sweeps Tanaka multiple times, then gets an overhead chop that Tanaka sells with a 450. Tanaka with a back hand thrust to the head repeatedly as Glacier tries a hurricanrana, but Tanaka powerbombs him. Glacier kips up & hits some body blows and an open palm to the chest as he hits a crescent kick, then the Cryonic Kick off the top rope for the 3 count. You can audibly hear Glacier say “Thank you, Pat” after the pin. Tanaka is the kind of guy who actually made this look like an action sequence from Mortal Kombat.
Billy Kidman vs Mr. JL December 28, 1996 They trade arm drags as JL gets a cheap shot, but Kidman somewhat botches a tilt a whirl head scissors as JL regroups outside. He slingshots JL back inside, but JL nails a Hot Shot sending Kidman crashing outside. JL drives him back first on the apron, then goes back inside & gets back dropped by Kidman. Perfect dropkick and clothesline to follow as he looks for & misses a Tornado bulldog, as JL looks for an elbow off the second & misses. Bodyslam by Kidman, who hits a Shooting Star Press for the 3 count. Fun while it lasted, but needed to go a lot longer, obviously.
Eddie Guerrero vs Cheetah Kid December 28, 1996 Tony is baffled by how many masked men WCW has at this point. I have no idea who Cheetah Kid is, but I think its Prince Iaukea. I looked up Cheetah Kid and they said Rocco Rock was him earlier in his career and I can safely say, this is not Rocco Rock. Ground work & counters early as the Kid gets a cheap shot & just poses. The crowd is loud as hell for Eddie though, but it’s really died down as Cheetah Kid applies a friggin arm bar. Eddie fights back with a dropkick & corner punches that the crowd counts with. Cheetah Kid answers with a superkick, but he misses a springboard splash as Eddie plants him with a brainbuster and a Frog Splash for the win.

SO MUCH DEAD WEIGHT! I think Roadblock's claim to fame was getting (impressively) torture racked by Luger in '96 Why did WCW need Nitro plus two weekend shows on TBS, PLUS Worldwide in syndication? I think it’s of a situation where TBS wanted to fill air time during those time slots? For WCW it’s basically an infomercial for Nitro?

Yeah during those shows (Prime, Pro, Main Event, Worldwide, Saturday Night) they'd talk about the upcoming PPV and/or Nitro during the matches instead of actually calling the action most of the time. Good call on saying it was an infomercial, that's exactly what it was. Looking back, they had such a massive roster it's like WWE now, except WWE signs anyone with buzz & WCW just signed people to sign people. Unless I missed the Indy run of Roadblock.
