WCW Worldwide 1997 (Part 1) Billy Kidman vs Jimmy Graffiti January 4, 1997 Graffiti is the former Gigolo Jimmy Del Rey as Kidman gets an early hip toss, but Graffiti cracks him with a back elbow & a front face suplex. A clothesline gets a near fall, but Kidman gets a quick roll up for 2, pops up & eats a super kick. Hard chops in the corner by the Gigolo, as Kidman gets a boot up, but misses a follow up dropkick. Graffiti misses a leg drop as Kidman pops to the top for a cross body & 2. Flying back elbow & a Tornado DDT get another near fall for Kidman as he goes for it again & crashes to the mat. Graffiti up top, somersault senton for the 3 count. Ok match, but it’s just weird seeing the former Heavenly Body as this character. Rey Mysterio Jr. vs Psychosis January 11, 1997 Psychosis gets the early takedown, but Rey hooks a leg & goes to work, transitions to the arm, but Psychosis gets a drop toehold & legdrop for 2. Rey floats over in the corner & hits a hurricanrana off the top for 2 of his own. He charges the opposite side & Psychosis launches him in the air & he lands face first in the corner. Hung up in the ropes, Psychosis nails a guillotine leg to the floor! He gets a 2 count, then slaps on a sleeper hold, sets up Rey in the corner, but he gets crotched in the process. Rey does a springboard head scissors as both guys tumble to the floor hard, the referee pops outside & ends the match?? He raises both of the downed guys hands & says since neither can continue, he awards the match to BOTH of them?? Wait, what the hell?
Madusa vs Akira Hokuto January 11, 1997 Snapmare, big boot & choke by Hokuto to kick things off & 30 seconds in applies a rest hold. Thankfully it didn’t last long as a vertical suplex gets her 2, but Madusa fires back with face busters, but an eye rake allows Hokuto to power Madusa up in a choke as Sonny Onoo mocks her in the ropes. Madusa does a Flair flip in the corner, gets a sunset flip for 2, goes to the top & gets cut off with a superplex by Hokuto for a near fall. Hokuto goes to the corner, but Madusa dropkicks her outside where she gets a bodyslam. Onoo distracts her & we have a brawl as Madusa hits Sonny with a back elbow & the bell rings. Both ladies were disqualified. For the second match, Mark Curtis calls the match randomly.
Bobby Eaton vs Jimmy Graffiti January 11, 1997 They trade headlocks & hammerlocks for the opening minutes until we get a test of strength as Heenan compares Eaton’s purple trunks to Barney the Dinosaur. They talk about the orgins of the Greco Roman Knuckle Lock & how Heenan doesn’t care one bit about it. Graffiti with a knee to the kidneys, but misses a splash in the corner. Eaton with a neckbreaker & Alabama Jam for the win. A lady holding a baby is shown & Heenan says it’s Rey Mysterio with his mask off.
Madusa & Meiko Satomura vs Akira Hokuto & Kaoru February 8, 1997 USA chants start early, despite Madusa’s partner being from Japan. The heels take Satomura early, but she fights back, gets a roll up & a close 2. She celebrates like she won & gets clocked as a result with a double big boot. Missile dropkick by Hokuto, who taunts Madusa with a tag, but she just beats down Meiko, who hits a cross body & tags in Madusa. She tries to powerbomb Hokuto, but she just falls down onto her for 2. She hits a clothesline on Kaoru as she tags Meiko & they start clubbering. Madusa goes after Sonny Onoo outside, so Kaoru nails a seated senton on Meiko off the top, then Hokuto with a dropkick & Northern Lights Suplex for the win. Madusa looked like an idiot in this one.
Meiko Satomura vs Malia Hosaka February 15, 1997 An old lady in the crowd with sunglasses on gets Brain to say “Hey look, Rod Stewart made it!” Hosaka walks out with Hosaka & Brain calls her “a beautiful dish.” Snapmare & flying forearm for Hosaka, but Meiko hits one of her own & celebrates before hitting two dropkicks. She charges in the corner, but Hosaka clobbers her with a Black Mass wheel kick. Meiko cuts her off with an elbow, bodyslam & a Frog Splash off the top for the 1…2…3! Less than 90 seconds and they’re calling it the biggest win of her career. Meiko is a teenager at this point, so that could honestly be true.
Madusa vs Molly McShane March 29, 1997 Molly is a red head & Brain says he has a little bit of Irish in him, asking Tony if he wants to know his Irish name and Tony says “No.” so Brain doesn’t follow up. Molly looks like someone who’d try to get you to buy her a drink at a dive bar at 2 in the morning. She wants a test of strength, but she clocks Madusa with a slap & does some hairmares before hitting a back elbow & legdrop for a 1 count. The botchiest bodyslam attempt by Molly, who goes to the top, but Madusa pulls her down, gets a small package & wins. Madusa did nothing in this match except the roll up. What a bad match.
The Amazing French Canadians vs Robbie Brookside & Doc Dean April 5, 1997 Hilariously the Englishmen start a USA chant as Jacques gets dropkicked & bodyslammed down as they hit a Rocket Launcher cross body from the top for a 2 count. There isn’t a single American in this match and the crowd is chanting USA. Brookside does like 4 leap frogs & they get another near fall on Pierre, who creams Brookside with a lariat to cut off the momentum. Boots to the corner by Jacques & Pierre, who make quick tags & hang up Brookside throat first on the top. They chuck him outside so Col. Parker can boot him a few times, then hit their Boston Crab/Guillotine Legdrop for the 3 count.
Super Calo vs La Parka April 12, 1997 Fast start for Calo who drops Parka on his head & hits a clothesline, then a head scissors out of the corner. He wants a hurricanrana as both tumble over the top outside. Calo knocks Parka down & hits a slingshot somersault senton, then a cross body off the top! Huge chants for Calo, which I never heard before in WCW as La Parka promptly cuts him off. He hangs him up in the Tree of Woe & nails a spin wheel kick. Calo tries a leap frog, but eats an Alabama Slam for 2. La Parka up to the second rope with a senton & a top rope corkscrew moonsault for the 3 count. Hearing Tony try to call those moves were hilarious.
The Amazing French Canadians vs Face of Fear April 12, 1997 Meng & Barb murder the Canadians during their singing of the Anthem. Barb tries to back drop Pierre into a Meng powerbomb, but Pierre clears Meng & lands on his feet, so Meng just clocks him with a superkick. The Canadians double team Meng with a guillotine on the top rope, go for their finisher & hit it, but Barb breaks it up at 2. Jacques collides with his partner, eats a superkick by Meng as Barb clobbers Pierre with Jimmy Hart’s megaphone as Meng covers him for the win. Why did Meng & Barb need to cheat when they’re monsters?
Glacier vs Ernest Miller April 12, 1997 They trade foot sweeps before Glacier gets taken down with a weird leg hold & almost got a win, but Glacier kicks out. Back leg front kicks as Tony makes Bischoff happy I’m sure. This match sucks majorly as the kicks are so tame & they’re selling so awkwardly. Glacier tries for Black Mass, Miller ducks, but Glacier randomly hits a powerbomb, then a Cryonic Kick for the win. This was a “martial arts” match with a powerbomb thrown in.
Kevin Sullivan (w/Jimmy Hart & Jacquelyn) vs Johnny Swinger April 19, 1997 Taskmaster tosses Swinger outside right away so Jackie can beat the shit out of him. Sullivan keeps the beating going back inside, Swinger tries for a sunset flip, but Sullivan just sits on his chest & tosses him back out to Jackie. Snap mare & a snap suplex on Swinger as the crowd pops for this. Back inside, Tree of Woe by Taskemaster, double stomp for the win. Jackie was awesome during this time & Sullivan should’ve been retired years ago.
Glacier vs Mark Starr May 31, 1997 This is a 4 minute video & 2:45 in; we’re still on Glacier’s entrance. Hammerlock by Glacier to start as we get a clean break in the corner, which Starr gets a cheap shot. Glacier fights back with a corner kick, foot sweep, then Cryonic Kick for the win. That was for the best.
Lord Steven Regal vs Chris Jericho May 31, 1997 Future opener of WrestleMania X-7 as USA chants again for a match with a Canadian & Englishman. Great mat work & counters by Regal to start as he gets palm strikes to a downed Jericho, who fights back with a hammerlock. Heenan says Jericho will be a major star in the future, which was a great call by Brain. Crazy arm drag by Jericho, who hits a spin kick & his signature springboard dropkick sending Regal outside. Regal sucker punches Jericho on the apron as he sticks his fingers in Jericho’s nose & wrenches away. Heenan says Jericho has such a big nose he played in Guns & Noses (yikes, Brain). They name drop Moline, IL for upcoming WCW events as Jericho almost kills himself with a Lionsault onto his head & a big back body drop. To the corner, Jericho tries a monkey flip, but Regal slams him down, feet on the ropes for the 3 count. Jericho is shocked as the fans get in the face of Regal, who says to the camera that he’s the best wrestler in the world, better than Piper, Hogan, Arn Anderson. Weird little selection.
Public Enemy vs Bunkhouse Buck & Hack Meyers June 14, 1997 Zero clue Hack worked WCW, also clearly Buck is finishing off his contract, because I thought he was gone by now too. Buck & Hack attack right away, as they isolate Grunge, who tries a sunset flip, but Hack rakes the eyes. Fast tags by Buck & Hack as Hack misses in the corner, Grunge with a diving clothesline off the second & gets the hot tag to Rocco. Bodyslams aplenty by Flyboy as they take Buck to the floor as Grunge hits a DDT on Hack, Rocco throws a table in the ring (rules are being stretched because it’s what the fans want to see & they aren’t hitting them with the table says Tony) & he hits a moonsault through it for the win.

Wow, all these years I never knew Jimmy Graffiti was Jimmy Del Rey!
Johnny Swinger was a guy you'd think had a look that could catapult him past jobber status. Even the WWF took a pass on him.
Mark Starr might be my favorite jobber of all time. I always remember the opening credits of Wrestling challenge where he takes a clothesline from Earthquake and goes 360.

WCW Worldwide 1997 (Part 2) Bobby Eaton vs Greg Valentine June 21, 1997 I’ll list the date again, June 1997 and we’re getting Hammer vs Eaton. Back elbows & clubbing blows by the Hammer, but Eaton awkwardly blocks a hip toss into a backslide, but Hammer falls into the ropes before calling time out. High knee to the ribs by the former IC champ, who follows with a head to the gut & a gutbuster for 1. Eaton fights back with right hands & a spinning neckbreaker for 2. He hooks a headlock & Hammer nails a back drop driver, then a standard elbow drop for the 3 count.
Harlem Heat vs The Power Company July 12, 1997 Haven’t a guess as to who Power Company are, but they look like brothers who are just body guys with matching gear & very little necks. Stevie just beats down both guys (one of them actually stepped into the ring, to get on the other side of the apron mid match) as Booker hits a flying forearm for 2. On the apron, Booker gets clocked by one of the guys, so Sherri rakes his eyes & he sort of no sells as Booker is taken down inside & hit with an axe handle. Double team clothesline gets the Company 2 as they’re making fast tags, but Booker destroys them with a double clothesline & gets the tag. Stevie with a pump kick on one & then tags Booker, who nails a Harlem Side Kick for the win.
Glacier vs Sgt. Craig Pittman July 12, 1997 Another 2 and a half minute entrance by Glacier as Pitbull nails a knee to the rib & he works the arm (smart against a guy who throws kicks). Diving headbutt to the ribs, but Pittman misses a clothesline, Glacier with a leg sweep & Cryonic Kick for the win. Poor Pittman.
Ice Train vs Squire David Taylor July 19, 1997 Taylor grabs a headlock, but Train shoots him off, leap frog by the big man, who hits a hip toss & a wild body tackle. Train tries for a dropkick, but Taylor puts the brakes on, hits some uppercuts & a dropkick of his own. He charges for a cross body, but gets caught & slammed as Train his The Train Wreck slam for the win.
Ric Flair vs Lizmark Jr. August 23, 1997 Flair works the arm, but Lizmark kips out, so he gets WOOOO’D for his efforts. Back to the hammerlock by Naitch, who lets him go so he can light him up with chops. Back suplex gets a 2 count as it’s chops & stiff punches as Flair goes back to the arm. Lizmark reverses, only to be quickly taken down by the leg & Flair gets a modified leg lock that Lizmark grabs the face in hopes to break & he does. Back to the arm goes Flair, who quickly switches to the leg & ankle as he’s wrenching away. Lizmark is able to get up, hits a backdrop & dropkicks, goes for a third, but Flair holds the ropes & he crashes. A little strut, knife edge & vertical suplex is the prelude as he sinks in the Figure Four for the win. I love Flair matches on these shows as he gives his opponent some offense, but ultimately dominates, like every squash should.
Kevin Nash (w/Scott Hall & Syxx) vs Prince Iaukea September 27, 1997 They trade working each other’s arms and Nash just levels him with a lariat. He tosses the former TV champ in the corner, hits some knees (VINTAGE NASH), then side elbow before grinding him down with a neck crank. Drapes the leg over his throat on the second & just keeps Too Sweeting Hall & Pac outside. Snake Eyes followed by a Hall clothesline with the ref distracted as Nash gets a 2 count. Nash wants another Snake Eyes, but Prince wiggles free, hits some shots & a few dropkicks, goes to the top with a missile dropkick and Nash bumps 1…2…NO!! Nash pops up & clocks Prince with a clothesline, but the Prince with a cross body for another 2. Prince charges & eats a big boot as he hits the Jackknife for the victory. Nash forces the ref to make a Too Sweet sign as I dug this match.
Scott Hall (w/Kevin Nash & Syxx) vs Chavo Guerrero Jr. October 4, 1997 Toothpick to the face of Chavo as Hall works the arm, Chavo tries to reverse, but gets slapped in the face & chest. Abdominal Stretch, then the STF applied as Chavo is up, tries for a cross body, but Hall with a Fall Away Slam sending Chavo to the floor. He fights off Syxx, but Nash clocks him from behind & gets tossed back in for a 2 count. Hall takes his head off with a lariat & hits a loud ass chop before Chavo starts fighting back, only for Hall to grab him by the trunks to the floor. He drives the back to the apron, tosses him back in & hits the back suplex out of the corner & Outsider’s Edge for the 3. Wolfpac celebrates like he’s won the World Title & they’re just having fun out there.
Scotty Riggs vs David Heath October 4, 1997 Hell yes for a Gangrel sighting! He’s a year away from his WWF run as he’s forced to job to the American Male here (who was feuding with Raven at the time) as Riggs hits a hip toss early & dropkick for 2 as he slaps on a rest hold. Brain says with the right amount of training & seasoning, Heath will be a tough guy some day. Heath hangs Riggs up on the top for 2 as he drives the boot to the throat in the corner, tries for a back drop, but Riggs with a sunset flip for a near fall. Hard buckle taken by Scotty as Heath keeps pouring it on, until he eats a boot in the corner & a lariat. Crowd is really loud for Riggs, who hits a dropkick and his flying forearm finisher (Tony calls it The Five Arm, so apparently he’s Terry Taylor now) for the win.
The Giant vs Jerry Flynn October 11, 1997 Flynn kicks Giant to the corner & he just gets creamed with a lariat for doing so. Giant snaps his neck as Flynn tries fighting back, but has no luck. He drives his knee into the back of Flynn, then a corner clothesline, but only gets a two count as Flynn throws sidekicks that have zero effect. GIANT WITH A SUPER KICK!! Flynn rakes the eyes, boots Giant in the ribs, but runs right into a massive chokeslam for the 3 count. This match went so much longer than I thought and it was honestly refreshing.
Johnny Swinger vs Hardbody Harrison October 25, 1997 Not so fun fact, Harrison is serving a life sentence for sex trafficking & forced labor ring. He had literal sex slaves. So obviously cheering for Swinger here, who luckily takes the entire match with everything you’d expect in a match with two usual enhancement guys. Your headlocks, wrist locks, sunset flips, snap mares. This all ends when Swinger hits a springboard leg drop, which Harrison had awkwardly took to give Swinger the win as he & Nick Patrick look confused as to what the hell Harrison was doing. Good job Johnny Swinger, way to defeat the future dirtbag.
Lord Steven Regal vs Yuji Nagata November 1, 1997 Wristlocks & reversals is the opening sequence as Regal fires off uppercuts & locks on a cravat, which he pulls Nagata down for 2. Nagata gets the ropes, clips Regal with an enzugiri & goes to the arm as Nagata tries to get the fans behind him as they chant USA (Japanese & British guy, but whatever). Full Nelson by Regal , who grinds Nagata down, but he powers up & tries to wrestle him down with his arm breaker, but Regal gets the ropes. Nagata punts Regal in the back so loudly (“you can hear that back in Nagasaki” says Brain) as Yuji chops away, but Regal avoids a snapmare & hits palm strikes and a brutal back suplex for 1. Those palm strikes & uppercuts are stiff as hell as Nagata hits a Koppo Kick & overhead belly to belly for 2. Exploder Suplex gets him another 2, but Regal clips the leg, sets up Nagata in the corner, Butterfly Superplex into the Regal Stretch for the submission win, all while headbutting & palm striking at the same time. This match was stiff as hell & it ruled!
Scott Hall vs Mike Rapada November 8, 1997 Fans are booing Rapada during his entrance as Hall is out with Syxx. He murders Rapada in the corner with a clothesline & chokes him with his leg as Syxx hits a right hand as well. They take turns beating up Rapada with the ref distracted as Hall slaps on his abdominal stretch, hits the back suplex out of the corner & an Outsider’s Edge to complete the squash.
Lex Luger vs Alex Wright December 13, 1997 Hammerlocks traded by both, as Wright gets a back elbow & puts the boots to Luger. Spin wheel kick by Das Wunderkind, who does his little dance, dives & misses a splash, so Luger puts him in the Torture Rack & wins it in 45 seconds.
Glacier vs Mortis (w/James Vandenberg) December 13, 1997 Mortis attacks before the bell & only lets Glacier’s entrance go a minute before showing off some innovative offense. DVD connects as he quickly goes to the top, but eats a Glacier boot. Vandenberg pops up on the apron to help Mortis up, Glacier goes for a super kick & pulls it as Mortis ducks & he hits 1% of Vandenberg, who reluctantly sells it. Mortis hits a Northern Lights Suplex for a 2 count as we see Vandenberg selling the kick like death as Glacier hits his Cryonic Kick for the win. You’d think these taped TV matches would be edited so guys look better, but WCW just didn’t give a shit.

WCW Worldwide 1998 Hardbody Harrison vs Barry Horowitz January 17, 1998 Remember, Harrison is a scumbag who is serving a life sentence for sex trafficking, so if there’s ever a time for Horowitz to score a win, it’s now. Barry gets an arm drag takedown, lets him go, so he can pat himself on the back. Knee to the ribs & a back rake as he puts to the boots to Harrison & pops him with some forearms. Barry up top, but gets hit in the ribs coming down. Hip toss gets Harrison 2 as Barry begs for a break. Harrison keeps throwing shots, wants a back drop, but Barry with a flying back elbow, he hooks in a pinning combo for the 1…2…3!! HOROWITZ WINS HOROWITZ WINS!!
Rick Fuller vs Hardwork Bobby Walker (w/Teddy Long) January 17, 1998 Who knew Teddy Long was still around in 98 for WCW? I sure as shit didn’t. Walker hits some forearms to start, but Fuller tosses him to the corner, hits one clothesline & another coming out. Fuller stomps on his once, then covers him for 2. Walker starts spazzing out with offense, boot to the midsection, punt to the leg as he climbs to the top, flying clothesline, but doesn’t make the cover. He bodyslams the big man Fuller down and gets the 3 count! Um, that was it.
The Giant vs Vincent January 24, 1998 Rematch from Prime like 4 months prior as Virgil tries to grab a leg, so not so smart. He gets a knee to the ribs & takes a hard bump out of the corner. Giant presses him over his head down to the mat, then hits his huge Choke Slam for the win. This went quicker than their previous match, which is hard to believe.
Randy Savage vs Ultimo Dragon January 31, 1998 Savage bows to Dragon, but when he goes to return the favor, Savage punts him in the face. Dragon does his handstand dropkick & lights Savage up with kicks, charges, but Macho gets a back elbow. Liz chokes Dragon with Savage’s bandana with the ref turned as Savage tries for a backdrop, Dragon lands on his feet, hits a few kicks, charges, but Savage hits a Stun Gun on the top rope. Macho goes up top, elbow drop, for the 1…2…3. This was a clash of styles I wish would’ve gone longer.
Ric Flair vs Barry Horowitz February 7, 1998 No, this isn’t Wrestling Challenge in 1991, its Worldwide in 98 as Flair works a hammerlock to take Horowitz down. Side headlock & a shoulder block takes Flair down, but Naitch chucks Barry out to the floor. Horowitz gets a sunset flip back inside, but Flair punches out. Arm drag countered into a backslide by Horowitz for 2 and we get a clean break. Corner chops by Flair, which changes to punches & Flair gets a 2 count, so he goes back to chops. Barry fires back with uppercuts in the corner as Flair is selling like a million bucks & Flair flops. He takes his standard back drop as Horowitz hits a dropkick, goes for another, but misses. Naitch drops an elbow & slaps on the Figure Four for the win. Another solid Flair squash.
Mike Enos & Wayne Bloom vs Bill Payne & Butch Long March 7, 1998 Hell yes, the former Beverly Brothers get a squash match in 1998! Bill Payne is a white guy with an afro as he gets clocked with a cheap shot by Bloom. Payne doesn’t break eye contact with the camera as he’s getting his ass kicked as Bloom takes him down AND TAGS THE WRONG GUY!! He actually tagged Long in, then realized he fucked up & tags in Enos, who does an airplane spin. He forces Long in & clotheslines him down, then hits a fall away slam. Bloom tags in & hits a lariat, then a face buster on the knee. Here comes Enos as Bloom thinks they’re going for the finish, but Enos hits a powerslam. Bloom back in & this time they hit THE SHAKER HEIGHTS SPIKE as somewhere The Genius is smiling as they get the 3 count. Bloom was all over the place in this one, but I’m happy The Beverlys got a win.
Barry Darsow vs Jeff Bradley March 7, 1998 Bradley looks like Andrew WK & Sign Guy Dudley’s love child. The former Repo Man just batters him in the corner & chokes away, hits an arm drag & works over the arm. Bradley hits a super slow shoulder block, but Darsow takes him down & goes back to the arm. That’s literally all his offense is, as I don’t think I ever saw Demolition Smash or Repo Man work an arm this much. He boots Bradley to the floor & drags him back inside, then it’s right back to the arm. Luckily Darsow wins it with his awful arm lock called Barely Legal for the submission win. It’s WCW, so I wouldn’t have been shocked had he worked the arm the whole match & won with a knee drop of something.
Greg Valentine vs Cocoa Samoa April 1998 Zero idea the Hammer was still around at this point, also have no fucking clue who the other guy is, but Hammer takes him down with a toe hold & armbar to start. There’s fans making DX signs in the crowd, which feels like 9 years before the Hammer was in his prime. Samoa goes a super kick for 2 as I should also point out that Hammer, who isn’t a notoriously tall man, towers over his opponent as he sends Samoa down with a beal. Back suplex drops Samoa & Hammer isn’t working by the hour as he drops a proper elbow & one to the top of the head for the 3. That’s right, Hammer won with an elbow to the noggin OF A SAMOAN for the 3.
Roadblock vs Jeff Bradley April 1998 Bradley misses a clothesline & Roadblock destroys him with a belly to belly overhead, but misses two elbow drop follow ups, allowing Bradley to get in some shots that have zero effect. Roadblock ain’t fucking around as he annihilates Bradley with a lariat & back elbow as Bradley makes a grave mistake & attempts a suplex. Sure he floated over, but ran right into a world’s strongest slam as Roadblock goes outside & uses the ropes to fall backwards into a sort of moonsault from the apron back in for the 3 count. Roadblock, you gotta love him!
Barry Horowitz vs Bobby Eaton June 20, 1998 Barry does more pats on the back than anything as the crowd chants Barry Sucks, so he grabs a head lock & gets reversed into a hammerlock. They trade working the arms & Eaton clocks Horowitz with an uppercut & slams him down as Eaton gets a scoop slam, wants an Alabama Jam & connects 1…2…3! That was record time for a Bobby Eaton match, you won’t see a faster one.
The Giant vs Horshu July 11, 1998 Horshu is Luther Reigns, who really only wrestled on these lower level shows. He attacks Giant at the bell, takes a buckle and GIANT WITH A DROPKICK out the gate!! Big boot follows up & he drops Horshu with a chokeslam for the easy win. Dropkick, big boot, chokeslam, go back & pound some beers.
Roadblock vs Mike Sanders August 22, 1998 The future Above Average Mike Sanders gets flattened with a belly to belly & a clothesline after bouncing off Roadblock like a rubber ball. Bodyslam by the big man, who goes to the second & misses a huge elbow as Sanders throws punches with no effect. Roadblock misses a corner splash, but he knees Sanders right in the head, then drops him with a Gorilla slam. He goes to the apron & does a sloppy ass fall back flip splash for the win. Love me some Roadblock, especially a squash, but his finish sucked.
Raven (w/Lodi) vs Bobby Blaze September 12, 1998 Lodi wants to wrestle, so Raven just sits in the corner and allows it, but Lodi gets taken down by Blaze, so Raven attacks from behind. Knees to the gut, snap mare & a Vader Bomb attempt, but Blaze gets his knees up. 10 buckles taken by Raven as Blaze follows with 10 punches in the corner, but eats a boot, only to get a school boy for 2. Raven pops up, Even Flow DDT for the quick win. Lodi sold more taking one bump than Raven did any other offense.
Public Enemy vs Davey Boy Smith & Jim Neidhart September 12, 1998 Sad that all of these guys are no longer with us as Rock & Anvil start, with Anvil hitting hip toss and Rocco calling time out & a sucker punch that gets blocked & here comes Bulldog. Back body drop as Bulldog drives shoulders to the gut before tagging Anvil. Rocco sends him to the ropes & Grunge gets a knee to the back as PE takes over. Double elbow for 2 as the crowd is behind Anvil, who gets slammed down & Rocco dives from the second, but eats a boot. Tag to Bulldog, who dishes out clotheslines & a double noggin knocker. They hit a HART ATTACK on Rocco for the 1…2…3!
The Pit Crew vs Disorderly Conduct September 19, 1998 Dale (not yet The KISS Demon) Torborg & Chad (I used to be in Tekno Team 2000) Fortune are the Pit Crew, dressed in, you guessed it, full on NASCAR pit crew gear. DC is Mean Mike & Tough Tom, I have zero idea who is which. One pops Torborg in the face with a stiff punch, but Torborg nails a gut wrench suplex, drop toe hold & Fortune drops an elbow for 2. Fortune plants one of DC with a belly to belly, then he & Torborg hit double pump kicks for a 2 count. They hit double clotheslines on both Conduct members before hitting a back suplex/reverse DDT combo for the win. I know they had race cars with the WCW logo, but must we have wrestlers as pit crew members? Sparky Plugg this was not.

Savage and Ultimo Dragon should NEVER be wrestling each other on a D-show like World Wide.
Bobby Blaze surprisingly made it onto a video game. WCW Mayhem, which I played 24/7 for about a year.
They tried to make Hardwork Bobby Walker into a 2-Cold Scorpio type, but he badly botched multiple moves in his first Nitro match. He just wasn't very good.
Luther Reigns as Horshu? There were so many future WWE guys who wrestled on these shows that I had no idea passed through WCW.
Mike Enos and Wayne Bloom in 1998? The fuck why?
I also wasn't aware Teddy Long lasted till 1998 in WCW. Apparently he was well on his way out because Teddy was refereeing in the WWF by the second half of the year.

I was originally only going to do a select handful of matches from Worldwide, then guys kept popping up I had no recollection of and decided to do a deep dive into every year. It's insane. WCW hired everyone and put them on any show they could. Minus Lanny Poffo, who just sat at home collecting a payday (good for him!). 99-00 left for Worldwide, then we get to the WCW main event, Saturday Night, which is the randomest (made up a word) pairings of them all, haha

Jimmy Hart was booking WCW Satruday Night by that point. Yes, that was a real thing.
The APA should have brought in a rookie tag team to mentor named Disorderly Conduct. I'll show myself out again. Stairs.

EDIT: Attaboy Drop In, changing his avatar to Terra Ryzin!
WCW 1999: The Gambler's Last Ride This is sadly the end of my favorite WCW jobbers run in not just the company, but his career. Farewell to The Gambler, whose dealin was clearly done. Also we have a carousel of characters of Barry Darsow & The Disciple, as well as some guys you've never heard of, which is who we start with.
Lorenzo vs Fidel Sierra January 16, 1999 Show of hands, who has heard of Lorenzo? I sure as shit hadn’t before this and I’ve seen every episode of Nitro & Thunder, so obviously, this dude, who looks like Joe Gomez & Renegade’s love child, didn’t make it past the D show. Sierra I remember from the Barrio Brothers with Ricky Santana, so at least there’s that. This is your standard wrestling match with Lorenzo, the babyface, working the arm for a majority of the match, getting cut off from time to time, only to go back to the well & get the arm. Sierra hits a bodyslam & tries a standing splash, but Lorenzo gets his knees up, tries for a powerslam and loses the grip, so he just tumbles to the mat with Sierra for the 1…2…3. Not kidding, that as the finish.
Ernest Miller (w/Sonny Onoo) vs Barry Darsow January 30, 1999 Cat tries a cheap shot, but Darsow fights back & Cat bails, so Darsow charges at him with his putter. You respect Mr. Hole in One! The bad thing about heel vs heel matches is the constant pandering to the crowd & then you get 1 cheap shot by each guy. Cat slams Darsow down, but misses the elbow, gets shot off & Darsow to the bread basket. Suplex by Mr. PGA for a 2 count & Darsow is pissed as he hangs up Cat with a Hot Shot, but goes after Sonny Onoo instead of the pin. Dropkick to the leg by Cat as Darsow goes to the putter again & gets cracked with a kick to the head by Cat for the 3.
Barry Darsow vs Villano V April 24, 1999 So Villano came out & he flipped from babyface shaking hands, to telling fans to shut up on the other side of the arena. Sadly Mr. Hole in One is a gimmick of the past, just a few months later as Darsow attacks right at the bell. Villano with a dropkick, but Darsow with a back elbow & Smash-like forearms before Villano tries for a cross body, but gets swatted down. Hot shot by Darsow, who rakes the eyes & sends Villano outside and just stands there, not following up. Villano gets back in & choked to the corner, but Villano answers with a DDT & face buster. Villano to the corner, but misses a senton & Darsow locks in Barely Legal for the win. This was the best this submission has ever looked.
Squire David Taylor vs The Gambler May 15, 1999 Mike Tenay says the crowd is shoe horned into the Worldwide arena to see this show (despite a massive Saturday Night sign set up). Taylor does some leap frogs, then tries a leapfrog, but Gambler stomps on his head. Taylor hits an uppercut & dropkick as Gambler fights back with a forearm to the face & clotheslines Squire to the outside! He tosses Taylor back inside for a 2 as he hits a knee lift 1…2…NO! Back to work on an arm bar & neck crank as he lets go & connects with an axe handle off the second! Goes again, but Taylor catches him in the breadbasket & hits a float over butterfly suplex for the 3. This was the most offense Gambler has gotten in on any match I’ve seen in WCW.
Mike Enos vs Hale May 22, 1999 Enos is a babyface here and I honestly don’t remember the last time that was a thing. Hale is a massive dude & gets a boot in the corner & clotheslines Enos clear over the top to the outside. Hale suplexes him back inside for 2, but misses an elbow follow. Hale tries a leapfrog, but Enos turns it into a huge powerbomb for a near fall. Enos with a powerslam for another 2 count as he can’t believe it (that’s the standard “how to pin your opponent on a D show” finish!) as Hale answers with a belly to belly for 2 of his own. Enos shot to the corner, but Hale misses a splash & Enos hits what could’ve been a scary Electric Chair on the big man for the 3 count. Mike Enos with the victory in mid 99!
Vincent vs Lizmark Jr. May 22, 1999 Strap in folks, time for Vincent to earn that fuck money & go to Olive Garden post match. Virg beats up Lizmark in the corner to start, floats over an attack & hits a swinging neckbreaker to get the most offense I’ve seen him get in all these reviews. Lizmark boots Virg in the face & Virg throws the saddest clothesline attempt ever, so he gets dropkicked outside & Lizmark hits a baseball slide. Lizmark tries a slingshot plancha, but VIRGIL PUNCHES HIM IN MID AIR! Back inside we go and Vincent goes to the second rope, but Lizmark gets his feet up (Virgil actually misses them, but sells anyway). Lizmark misses a corner splash & Vincent nails a pretty snazzy standing arm DDT, then locks on a Pain Killer armbar for the submission. So remember folks, Virgil’s finisher in WCW, was an arm bar.
Scotty Riggs vs Lash LaRoux May 29, 1999 So Riggs has this gimmick now that’s essentially Paul Orndorff’s old gimmick before he retired, which was he’s in love with the mirror he carries to the ring. Needless to say, it doesn’t work with Riggs. Lash gets the dropkick early and it crushes Riggs, since its right to his face. He repays the favor with back elbows in the corner & a leaping flying asshole in the other side. Maybe it was a flying knee, but whatever. Riggs now is doing the Rick Rude swivel showing zero originality in this character one bit. He hits a snap dropkick & places 1 pinky on Lash for a 2 count. Riggs misses a follow up dropkick & Lash makes his comeback with a head scissors & does the splits. Northern Lights gets a 2 count for the Ragin Cajun as Riggs hits a jawbreaker to cut him off, then hits a flying forearm for the 3 count.
Erik Watts vs Adrian Byrd June 19, 1999 Here’s words you don’t want to hear, Erik Watts In Action, in 1999. Watts is wearing baggy mom jeans as Byrd tries a cross body, gets caught and planted. Byrd is so tiny; he’s smaller than Pee Wee Anderson, the referee. Watts with a clothesline & back elbow as he rubs Byrd’s face into the mat, then chokes him in the ropes. Small package by Byrd for 2, but Watts takes over, boot in the corner & he HITS A BUCKLE BOMB!! Now we know where Seth Rollins got it from! To the corner we go where Watts hits a beal for 2. Watts with a spin kick gets another near fall, as he tries to roll up Byrd, he ducks, flying forearm by Byrd for the 1…2…3!! Byrd pulls off the upset and he can’t believe it! Watts isn’t that upset, he’s getting paid regardless.
The Disciple vs The Gambler August 7, 1999 My boy The Gambler is hanging tough in 99 as Disciple hits a cross body & panders to the crowd before suplexing Gambler from the apron inside for a count of 1, because you aren’t putting my boy away that easy! Gambler wrenches the arm, but Brutus punches his way out. Mike Tenay is covering the history of Hogan, Jimmy Hart & Brutus and how they’ve had a falling out. Big back body drop by Zodiac, who hits a Booty Man-esque High Knee, but Gambler gets an eye poke & snapmare, but misses an elbow, so that’s all for his offense. Crowd doesn’t give a shit about Butcher’s offense, as he hits a DDT for the victory.
Johnny Attitude vs The Gambler August 21, 1999 This is sadly the last match of The Gambler in WCW as he was released at the end of August (and subsequently retired) once Russo took over. His entrance music is an instrumental of Aerosmith’s Love in an Elevator, which is insane; it should be the instrumental of the Kenny Rogers classic, but whatever. Eye poke & a back elbow by Attitude, who poses for the camera & fans instead of going to work. Gambler hits a back elbow & clothesline out of the corner for 1 as Attitude catches Gambler with a wild release overhead suplex for 2. Gambler hits another back elbow & hip toss to regain control as he wrenches at the neck. Third back elbow by Gambler as Dusty is talking about not wanting to be here to call the show, he’s only here because he likes the producer. Gambler tries to shoot Attitude off the ropes, but Attitude holds on, pulls Gambler in and hits what would become Shane Douglas’ finisher, The Franchiser jaw breaker for the 3 count. Farewell Gambler, you’re a legend in my book. Wish you would’ve stuck around longer, but I guess you gotta know when to fold’em.
Chris Adams vs Johnny Attitude September 4, 1999 This is apparently a heel vs heel match as Adams is no longer The Gentleman as he’s associated with Steven Regal & Dave Taylor now. Attitude puts the boots to Adams in the corner, but Adams with a boot to the face & a clothesline. Attitude slammed into the steps outside repeatedly as they make the count at 9. Back suplex gets a near fall, but Adams gets crotched after going to the top. Attitude with a horrible looking powerslam for a near fall, then a vertical suplex for another 2. He misses a right hand & Adams clocks him with a Super Kick for the win.
Krusher Khruschev vs Al Green September 18, 1999 Commentary is baffled why Barry Darsow is using his gimmick from the mid 80s, but the reason was he's taken so many hits in the head, he thinks he’s a gimmick of the past, which is honestly a great storyline for a guy with as many gimmicks as Darsow. He’s wearing his old Russian gear as he throws Green into the ring steps, then clothesline back inside. Green takes a hard buckle as Darsow chokes away as Mike Tenay says we’re in a time warp waiting for Magnum T.A. to show up. Backbreaker & clubbing forearms in the corner as Darsow locks on a backbreaker over his shoulder & Green submits.
Blacktop Bully vs Luther Biggs October 23, 1999 Blacktop Bully was tonight for Barry Darsow’s gimmick tour as he takes on Luther Biggs, managed by Coach Buzz Stern, who was Glacier wearing a baseball hat & sunglasses. Bully pulls Biggs’ shirt over his head & beaten up hockey style as he works the arm in the ropes. Bully does a rest hold that I have no clue what body part he was trying to work as Biggs fights back, but because he’s a moron, gets clobbered immediately. Stern hops up on the apron & Bully goes after him, but Biggs attacks and has zero impact. Back inside, Bully chokes Biggs, the ref tries to stop him & takes a comically big bump as Stern hits Darsow with his clipboard & Biggs covers him for the win.
Jim Duggan vs The Disciple November 6, 1999 Dizzy, Butcher, Boulder, the Brutus, Zodiac, Man with No Name is out dressed as Brutus Beefcake as Scott Hudson & Larry say this is a main event anywhere (where the hell are you going?). So much stalling to start as Duggan hits 3 clotheslines to send Booty Man outside. This is Worldwide and Duggan thinks he’s on Saturday Night (he said it in the camera) as Brutus is back in & takes the fight in the corner. Duggan punts Zodiac, but misses a splash & Brother Bruti slaps on a rest hold, because 50 seconds is way too long to go without one. Duggan slowly gets up, fights out, whips Disciple to the corner & hits his whirling bodyslam, then clocks Dizzy Boulder with a 3 point stance & the OLD GLORY KNEE DROP for the win.
Lord Steven Regal (w/Dave Taylor) vs Blacktop Bully December 18, 1999 Still the Bully, Darsow works the arm early, gets a forearm and Regal sells it like a million bucks. Side headlock by Regal, gets shot off & hit with a back elbow by Darsow, who again, doesn’t follow up. Regal sends him to the floor where Taylor beats Darsow down with the UK flag & tosses him back inside. Regal with uppercuts & some knees as Taylor jams the flag pole into the throat with the ref distracted. Darsow finally starts fighting back, as Regal takes some bumps and you can tell when Charles Robinson tells Dave Taylor to jump up on the apron as he hits his cue. Darsow picks up Regal and his leg clips Lil’ Naitch, so Taylor jumps in and hits Darsow with flag yet again as Regal gets the Regal Stretch for the win. One of the worst Regal matches I’ve seen unfortunately.
Jushin Liger vs Silver King December 25, 1999 Merry Christmas Liger, you’re pulling D-Level show duty to end the millennium, even though you’re IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champ. Superkick by King in the chest to start & wheel kick follows after a ton of reversals for 2. Liger hits a belly to belly in the corner, King 619’s through the ropes, but eats a dropkick rolling outside, where Liger hits a cross body off the top. Back inside, Silver King drops Liger, goes up top & misses a senton as Liger slaps on the surfboard stretch, but King out & gets Liger down, then does a little dance. He crotches himself in the corner as Liger gets an elbow for 2 as there’s a rope break. Drop toe hold into the ropes as King slams him down, tries for a springboard moonsault & misses by a mile. Liger nails a Tornado DDT 1…2…NO! Liger Bomb gets a 2, but a victory roll gets Liger the 3 count.

So much Barry Darsow!
My God...I had no idea the Disciple wrestled beyond the Warrior angle in 1998.
Hot Take Alert: Erik Watts had vastly improved in the ring by 1999. Now, that's not saying much, but still...a far better wrestler than Van Hammer at least.
Virgil should not be winning any matches on TV against any opponent ever.
Who in the everloving fuck is Lorenzo?

I'm going to need to do a deep dive with this most recent list. Zero idea Watts was brought back to WCW.
Darsow, Enos, and all the Minnesota guys got the hookup from Bischoff.

I'm going to need to do a deep dive with this most recent list. Zero idea Watts was brought back to WCW. Darsow, Enos, and all the Minnesota guys got the hookup from Bischoff. Not the last you'll hear of Erik Watts on this list. There's some brutal Watts matches coming up (cough...Duggan...cough). He was terrible.

WCW Worldwide 2000 Who knew this show hung around until almost late 2000? Who knew 'The Wild Eyed Southern Boy' Tracy Smothers wrestled for WCW in 2000? Who knew Rick F'N Fuller hung around this long? I also couldn't help but throw in some Mona matches because quite simply, I love Molly Holly, she's great. I did not however, like the last match on this list.
Berlyn vs Steve Armstrong January 15, 2000 Berlyn attacks before the bell as commentary plugs Sid vs Bret Hart at the PPV this Sunday, that never happened as Armstrong gets a front face suplex for 2. Berlyn crotches him & almost drops Steve on his head as Berlyn hits a snap powerslam, elbow drop, then 2 more. Short arm clothesline & a hangman’s neckbreaker for the 3 count. I’ll give Alex Wright some credit, this gimmick could’ve worked, but it was in a company who had pretty much given up a year & change before folding. This gimmick had already run its course within a few months.
Tracy Smothers vs The Barbarian January 29, 2000 Zero clue that Smothers wrestled for WCW, but here he is, out as a firey babyface as they lock up & Barb unloads corner punches, Tracy gets boots up & hits a dropkick followed by a flying forearm. He goes for another, but floats over a bodyslam attempt, O’Connor Roll 1…2…NO! Barb shoots him off, they trade hip toss attempts before Barb just starts headbutting him in the chest & hits a suplex. Side suplex gets a 2 count and we get an awkward jump cut in the match where Smothers hits a weird standing leg lariat to the back of the head, then one to the chops before going up top & hits a diving forearm to the chest for 2. He waits for Barb to get up, hits the ropes & runs right into a Boot of Doom by Barb to give him 3. Super quick match, but I wanted to watch it because I had zero idea Tracy worked WCW past 91-92 with The Young Pistols.
The Demon vs Rick Cornell February 5, 2000 Cornell is Reno as Demon takes longer than Glacier to make his entrance. He works the arm of Cornell immediately, then does a leg sweep as the crowd doesn’t give two shits about this gimmick already. Butterfly suplex & taken down with a throat chop. Demon stands on his hands & stomps down, then hits a high knee lift. Snap suplex as Demon is next level terrible as he gets a big boot & Cornell gets a dropkick that Demon no sells & clotheslines him down. He gets a half nelson slam that he apparently calls the Kiss of Death for the 3. Wow that was terrible. Little Jeannie vs Rhonda Singh (w/Oklahoma) February 26, 2000 The former Bertha Faye hits a corner splash right away as Oklahoma does his garbage impression of JR on commentary, so we’re fucked for this one. Rhonda hits a standing splash, but misses a proper one as Jeannie tries dropkicking Rhonda in the tits, but it has zero effect. She tries a sunset flip foolishly & Rhonda sits on her for the quick 3, thankfully we only had to hear Oklahoma for literally seconds, which was still too much. I should point out Rhonda has Chris Jericho’s old WCW theme, which is hilarious.
Mona vs Sherri Martel – No Disqualification March 11, 2000 Mona attacked at the ramp by Sherri as Madusa is on commentary, looking like a fuckin snack. Commentary has zero idea why this is a No DQ match as I assume Madusa is going to get involved. Sherri with knees in the corner & a splash as this was all Sherri until Mona hit a cross body for 2. Back elbow by Mona, then a handspring back elbow, roll up for the 3 count! Why in the hell was this No DQ if nothing happened that warranted it? Sherri doesn’t care about the match as she wants Madusa & they get in each other’s faces as Madusa’s oversized implants are causing a struggle from that happening.
Rick Fuller vs Hail (w/Jimmy Hart) April 22, 2000 So Emery Hale switched the spelling of his name & got Jimmy Hart as his manager. Knife edge chops by Fuller early, but Hail explodes out of the corner with a lariat and huge pop from the crowd. Shoulder block, but Fuller fights back with a wheel kick & legdrop for 1. Fuller with stiff chops as he misses a splash & Hail hits a piledriver on the big man for the 3 count. Hail’s Bells is the name and that’s ridiculous.
Hugh Morrus, Chavo Guerrero, Lash Leroux & Van Hammer vs Cassidy Riley, James Storm, Kory Williams & Rick Michaels May 6, 2000 The Misfits in Action don’t officially have their dumb names yet. Cassidy Reily, future TNA talent, starts with Hammer, who almost immediately hits a stalling superplex, Hammer hits his head hard in the process as Lash & Michaels are in and the Ragin Cajun gets a clothesline & a quick tag to Chavo, who hits quick dropkicks on Williams as here comes the future Cowboy, James Storm. Tag to Hugh Morrus, who puts the boots to Storm & a huge press slam. Storm sends Morrus to his corner where the job guys beat him down and hell breaks loose as MIA knock all the guys off the apron while Morrus hits a splash on Storm, then Lash hits one, then Hammer with a big boot as Chavo nails a Tornado DDT for the 3. So these were supposed to be guys who were fired by WCW, so how the hell are they wrestling on this show?
Madusa vs Mona May 13, 2000 They trade multiple takedowns & Tony says this is a huge match for the “now mythical women’s division”, hahaha. Mona with a Northern Lights for 2 as she chops away at the big targets of Deuce, who fires back with a spin kick. Another spin kick to the chops as Madusa hits a missile dropkick off the second, then another, but she tries for a 3rd and misses as Mona gets slapped twice before she can do anything as Madusa with a snap suplex. Mona tries for a handspring elbow, but misses & Madusa hits a German suplex for the 3 count. Quick match that I wish would’ve went longer.
Curt Hennig vs Chris Harris May 20, 2000 The future Wildcat of TNA locks up with Hennig, who gets a go behind, but Harris elbows his way out of it. Hennig isn’t messing around & sends Harris outside into the commentary table & guard rail, then heads back inside and clocks Harris with a knee lift. Vicious chops in the corner as he bad mouths Harris, these chops are echoing as Henning nails his snap mare, but Harris fights back with an arm drag & dropkick. Harris paint brushes Hennig, that wakes Perfect up, who punches him right in the face & hits a Perfect Plex for the win as the crowd pops big.
Chris Candido & Tammy vs Shawn Stasiak & Mona May 27, 2000 Sunny days are long gone at this point for Tammy, Mona smokes her in the looks department. Stasiak connects with a powerbomb early, but misses the follow elbow. Candido with a hip toss & tag to Tammy as Stasiak doesn’t want to tag Mona, but reluctantly does. Tammy with a side headlock & hammerlock, which is just weird to see Sunny wrestle as she gets a hair mare & she does a dance. Stasiak bails on his partner as Tammy hits a hip toss on Mona, then Candido hits a brutal flapjack that I think should’ve been a back drop as Mona hits Candido with a suplex to the floor!! Back inside Sunny hits a Stunner and her boob almost pops out as she gets the 3 count. Chris Candido rules as he took a crazy bump for Mona, meanwhile Tammy was awful.
Allan Funk & Mike Sanders vs New South (Ashley Hudson & Cory Williams) June 17, 2000 Funk is Kwee-Wee as New South hits double clotheslines sending the heels outside. Double hip toss on Sanders, then a double elbow drop, but the heels take over & Kwee Wee takes control, Mike Tenay calls him Mr. Non Stop Action as Sanders tags in, but eats a flying forearm by Hudson. Williams & Kwee Wee in as Williams is a house of fire, but the heels hit double dropkicks on Hudson & Williams as Sanders hits a jaw jacker & Kwee Wee nails a piledriver for the 3.
Chris Candido vs Christopher Daniels June 17, 2000 At this point Tammy was already gone a month into her WCW run. Fallen Angel grabs the headlock & hits a shoulder block, but they trade headlock/head scissors escapes with Daniels winning the series. Daniels tries for a baseball slide, but misses & he hits his springboard moonsault. Candido tries for a chair shot, but Daniels ducks, then hits an UNPROTECTED CHAIR SHOT TO THE HEAD right in front of the official, but not a DQ, which, whatever. Pop up powerbomb back inside by Candido as just like that, he’s recovered from the chair shot. Stalling vertical suplex by Candido, but Daniels fights back with BEST…MOONSAULT…EVER for a 2 count. Slugfest ensues as Daniels hits a back drop, then a leg lariat as he tries for a Tornado DDT, but Candido turns it into a Northern Lights for a 2 count. Enzugiri missed by Candido and Daniels hits the ANGELS WINGS, but poses instead of making a cover. He wants the Last Rites & hits it, but Candido with a foot on the rope. Candido floats over & murders Daniels with a sit down Driver, then a top rope headbutt that lands flush for the 3 count. Aside from the unnecessary chair shot stuff, this was one of the best matches on these shows I’ve seen. I also miss Chris Candido a whole bunch.
Shane Douglas (w/Torrie Wilson) vs Scott Overhosen August 5, 2000 My goodness Torrie looks next level hot in this one as The Franchise hits a running clothesline & backbreaker, but Overhosen with two flying forearms & springboard dropkick for 2. Overhosen goes outside & gets distracted by Torrie as Shane hits a baseball slide & almost wipes out Torrie in the process. Douglas crotches him on the ring post as Torrie tells him again, but Overhosen does it instead & Douglas eats the post. Springboard clothesline back inside gets 2, then a back drop as Overhosen with another dropkick for 2. They sort of lose track of each other & Franchise just grabs him and hits the Franchiser for the win. Good before it fell apart & Douglas was smart to just hit his finish and get the win.
Major Gunns vs Tygress vs Paisley September 9, 2000 Madusa is the referee with her best tight referee tank top on and heaven help me this match will be WrestleCrap Hall of Fame worthy. Paisley with a kick to the back of Gunns & Tygress hits a forearm, then a top rope cross body for 2. Paisley misses a slow motion spin kick as Gunns misses a slap & Tygress hits one, but Paisley takes her down. There’s apparently tags in this 3 way dance? It’s WCW, of course it is. Paisley hits a spin kick off the second rope to the chest & Tygress doesn’t even break it up as she just walks to the back. Garbage with implants, that was pretty much it.

WCW Saturday Night 1995 Here we go, the start of what used to be the flagship show for World Championship Wrestling before Monday Nitro. This is the last WCW show I'm covering and I'm going to miss this! Let's get things started with the journey of Evad Sullivan!
Dave Sullivan vs Bobby Eaton January 14, 1995 So Evad Sullivan is dressed like Hulk Hogan in this one, which in turn, gives him Hogan level strength. I should point out that Dave is a little…slow. So instead of cupping his hand to his ear like Hogan, he cups it the wrong way, so imagine that. Shoulder tackles & shoulder blocks is what we get to start before Eaton takes over with his perfect punches. He hits a top rope elbow drop, but Evadkicks out at 2, so Eaton grabs an armbar. Evad almost looks to get a Torture Rack & it confuses Eaton, so Evad hits a back suplex. Kevin Sullivan hits the ringside area & scraps with his brother, as he hooks Evad’s leg as he suplexed Eaton inside, so Eaton collapsed on Evad for the 3. Dave Sullivan was terrible.
Dave Sullivan vs Kevin Sullivan January 21, 1995 Battle of the brothers as Evad is out in his airbrushed Hogan robe & wears it for a ridiculously long time, like minutes into the match it’s still on. He chokes Kevin with it as we spill outside & Kevin posts Evad multiple times. They trade punches inside as Kevin gets a boot up, before he misses dropping a leg in the corner & crotches himself. Evad hits a big boot & goes for the leg, when Butcher hits the ring & causes the DQ. He sets him up in the Tree of Woe, so Sullivan charges with a knee. They tear up the Hogan robe as Evad fires up, only to get put to sleep by a sleeper from Butcher. Kevin & Butcher take turns cutting the hair of Evad as Kevin puts the boots to any jobber trying to make the save. Butcher takes Evad’s boots that Hogan gave him & cuts them up. WHERE IS HOGAN IN ALL OF THIS?? Probably shooting Thunder in Paradise? Was that show still on?
Dave Sullivan vs John Faulkner January 28, 1995 We complete the Evad Journey with Dave out wearing a classic bathrobe & he hits the ring a house of fire, beating the hell out of Faulkner. He’s literally just raking Faulkner’s face down to the mat over & over, then hits a big boot & back body drop. Evad keeps saying “Kevin!” repeatedly before slapping on a Full Nelson, getting the submission win. This was Eugene 9 years earlier.
Arn Anderson (w/Col. Parker) vs Al Phillips – Television Title March 18, 1995 Parker gets in Phillips’ face & Arn attacks before the bell even sounds. With his opponent already down, the ref starts the match, so Arn drives Phillips face into the mat with a half nelson. The Enforcer does a little shadow boxing in preparation of his Boxing Match with Johnny B. Badd at Uncensored & just plants Phillips with a DDT for the easy win.
Big Bubba Rogers vs Tim Horner April 8, 1995 Bubba misses a charging attack in the corner & Horner gets a school boy for 2, then a perfect dropkick as he has Rogers on the ropes early. Corner punches by Horner, as Bubba hooks the legs & plants Horner face first on the top rope. Bubba keeps choking Horner with his boot to the point where the ref was about to do something, but Brad Armstrong hits the ring & dropkicks Bubba over the top, therefore DISQUALIFYING HORNER!! Bubba wins via DQ! Amazing. Brad rushes over to cut a promo on Bubba post match as they actually cut to a quite…ahem…buxom blonde in the crowd. Times like this I wish Jessie Ventura was still around.
Bunkhouse Buck vs Flyin Brian – US Championship Tournament Round 1 April 22, 1995 Pre-match, Brian starts complimenting Col. Parker over his good looks & wants to join his crew. Parker then calls him a $100 jackass, shakes his hand, but Pillman pulls Parker into Buck & they collide, so he rolls up Buck for the 3 count. I wonder if one of these two were hurt, I have no idea why this wasn’t an actual match. It was weird.
Randy Savage vs The Butcher May 6, 1995 Butcher attacks while Savage was still wearing his jacket & slaps on a sleeper early on. Savage falls back into the corner over & over as Butcher stumbles outside & Savage hits the double axe off the top. Back inside, he bodyslams Butcher down & goes up top for the elbow drop and 3 count. Just like that, thankfully. Post match, Flair & Arn hit the ring, but Renegade sprints out to even the odds. Vader hits the ring with a chair, but Hogan smacks him in the back with the WCW Title and we have a 3 on 3 stare down.
Randy Savage vs Steve Austin (w/Col. Parker) May 27, 1995 Austin vs Savage should seem like a dream match, not so much. This was part of the Slim Jim Challenge, an 8 man tournament for a Television Title shot at Bash at the Beach. The tournament was ultimately won by Paul Orndorff, who would go on to lose to Renegade in 6 minutes at the PPV. Savage hits a back elbow early & chokes Austin in the ropes as Austin gets a cheap shot & takes over in the corner with shoulders to the mid section as he snapmares Savage down, driving the knee to the chest. Up top goes Stunning Steve, who misses a big splash, allowing Savage to chuck him outside & posts him, then into the guardrail. Another post by Savage, who tosses Austin back inside, bodyslam, top rope elbow, 3 count. Austin was getting flat out buried at this point & it’s a shame we never got an actual full length match with these 2.
Diamond Dallas Page (w/Kimberly & Maxx) vs Chris Kanyon June 24, 1995 Two thirds of the future Jersey Triad face off as Kanyon hasn’t even become part of Men at Work with Mark Starr yet. Have I mentioned Kimberly is gorgeous? Leg sweep by DDP gets him a kiss from Kimberly as Kanyon works an arm bar, but DDP reverses into a headlock. DDP poses, gets a 9 from Maxx, as Kanyon gets a school boy for 2. Kanyon tries a hip toss, but DDP reverses into a Diamond Cutter and that does it quickly for Page. Again, have I mentioned how hot Kimberly was?
Hawk vs Lt. James Earl July 8, 1995 One half of the State Patrol attacks Hawk at the bell, as Hawk fucking towers over Earl, which is actually a sight to see. Big boot & chop by Hawk as Earl gets a throat chop, that Hawk, vintage Hawk, no sells. Gut wrench suplex & fist drop allow Hawk to hit a diving clothesline off the top for the 3. Just isn’t the same when Animal doesn’t have the opponent on his shoulders.
Kamala vs Steve Storm July 8, 1995 It’s the Kamala Special in this one as it’s chop, chop, overhead chop, splash and he actually covers him correctly for the 3 count. Kevin Sullivan covers his eyes post match & helps Kamala from the ring as they pass by a “GIANT” ringside and Kamala gets scared. That Giant is of course Big Show, who nods at Sullivan. This was one of Giant’s first appearances.
Ric Flair vs ? July 15, 1995 Flair is out with a group of ladies and in his suit & tie, dressed to the nines. I assume these are Hooters girls. Flair takes his jacket off & lights up his opponent, whose name we never get, then tosses him outside JOB GUY ALMOST WIPES OUT A GIRL IN THE PROCESS as all of the girls toss the job guy back into the ring. Just then, Randy Savage hits the ring & pulls Flair from the arms of the ladies & a group of enhancement guys make the save, pulling Savage off of Flair. This allows Naitch to take his shoe off & clock Savage & bails with the ladies as Savage beats up all the guys who tried to make the save. This was a day before their Bash at the Beach Lifeguard Match.
Renegade vs Maxx Muscle – Television Title August 19, 1995 This was billed as Maxx’s wrestling debut, so of course it’s for the TV Title. Remember a few months ago, Paul Orndorff had to win a tournament to get a TV Title shot. Renegade steamrolls a posing Maxx with a shoulder tackle & top rope flying splash for the 3 count. That was it. Maxx popped right up after the finish too, good job, dude. Two older guys ringside gave Maxx a big thumbs down.
Ric Flair vs Frankie Lancaster September 30, 1995 Headlock takedown by Naitch, but Lancaster gets a head scissors & Flair escapes. Hammerlock takedown by Flair, who works an arm bar & takes Frankie down, then transitions to the ankle, picking it, turning into a half crab. Rope break & Flair offers a handshake, but boots him in the knees, pokes him in the eye & chop blocks the leg as he drops Frankie with an atomic drop on the knee. He slaps on the Figure Four and Flair wins it. The crowd was shockingly quiet for this as this was a weird time when Flair was supposed to be believed as a babyface, but we all knew he was just suckering Sting into believing him.
Cobra vs Sgt. Craig Pittman September 30, 1995 We document the feud with these two as Pittman won at Fall Brawl, then Cobra won by a sneak attack the previous week, so this was the rubber match. They trade armbars early as Cobra gets a Northern Lights Suplex, but Pittman gets a knee to the ribs & goes back to the arm. He drives elbows into the small of the back, but tries too many as Cobra moves & Pittman crashes. Cobra is fucking gassed already as he climbs to the corner for punches, but Pittman hits a running powerbomb out the corner, stacking Cobra up for the 3. This was really bad.
Mr. Wonderful vs Mike Davis October 14, 1995 So he’s no longer Paul Orndorff, he’s Mr. Wonderful, who is in love with himself. Wonderful sneak attacks Davis to start & hits a few clotheslines before stomping on the face. Elbow to the midsection as Wonderful tries a back drop, but Davis tries a sunset flip, that Wonderful no sells. He drives his signature elbow drop to the face & keeps putting the boots to Davis before dropkicking him down for 2. Wonderful hits his piledriver for the 3 count as he goes right back to his mirror to look at himself.
Lex Luger vs Rip Rogers October 21, 1995 Rip covers up in the corner to get Luger to back off as Lex slaps on a headlock, then shoulder tackles Rip to the floor. Lex quickly tosses him back inside, so he can get…an arm bar. Rip gets a cheap shot & fights Lex to the corner, but The Package no sells a shoulder tackle & hits multiple lariats and a snap powerslam. That’s the prelude as he hoists Rip up for the Torture Rack & that does it.
Johnny B. Badd vs Mr. Wonderful October 21, 1995 Wonderful is posing too much before the match starts, so Johnny dropkicks him over the top to the floor & his mirror smashes. Wonderful goes backstage, gets counted out I guess, then has a break down as he rushes to a phone, quickly goes through his back & gets a phone number. He’s trying to call Gary Spivey from the Psychic Network & he gets his answering machine. Orndorff has a panic attack, trying to tell him directions on how to get to him. That literally was it, Johnny won by countout!
Disco Inferno vs Mark Starr November 25, 1995 Disco is all about not getting his hair messed up as he works a “full arm dragon twist” by Tony & I giggle. He drives Starr to the corner, destroying him with punches in bunches, putting the boots to him as Starr nearly catches Disco posing with a small package for 2. Disco quickly answers with a back elbow & vertical suplex, then a back suplex. It’s boogie time for Disco, who misses a corner axe handle & Starr rolls him up with a school boy for the shock 3! Disco keeps dancing after the match, thinking he either won or just happy he gets to go back to dancing.

WCW Saturday Night 1996 (Part 1) One Man Gang vs Super Giant Ninja January 20, 1996 Akeem vs Yeti is quite the way to kick off 1996 for WCW. They have a slugfest to start as Ninja hits karate chops in the corner and the posing he does after is hysterical. Gang reverses a whip to the corner & hits a splash, then gets a throat shot, double axe handle & a body slam on the big man before hitting his 747 splash to get the win. Sadly not the 60 minute broadway I was hoping for.
Lord Steven Regal (w/Jeeves) vs Dusty Wolfe January 27, 1996 Side headlock by Wolfe as Regal shoots him off, but gets shoulder tackled. They repeat the headlock spot & Regal pulls him to the corner with palm strikes, as Wolfe tries for a monkey flip, but Regal slams him to the mat for 2. Butterfly suplex drops Wolfe on his head for 2 as he dishes out uppercuts & then we get the debut of Fit Finlay, who attacks from the crowd! The Belfast Bruiser beats the shit out of his Lordship & tells us he’s Fit Finlay, The Belfast Bruiser (I just said that, Dave).
Marcus Bagwell vs Loch Ness (w/Jimmy Hart) February 24, 1996 Buff tries for some jabs to start, shoulder blocks & he bounces off Loch Ness. Everything Bagwell is throwing is no sold like a son bitch as he dropkicks Ness to the corner & finally he sells something. Bagwell goes to the corner to dish out 10 punches, but Ness slams him down, hits a big elbow & just rolls on Bagwell for the 3 count. Wow, even by shitty squash standards, that was terrible.
The Giant vs Dave Sullivan February 28, 1996 Poor Dave gets destroyed after putting Ralph the Rabbit in his rabbit home. Giant shoots him off the ropes & hits a Choke Slam for the 3 count. Then another choke slam post match as The Gambler hits the ring for some reason & gets choke slammed. Then another job guy runs in & gets laid out. Jim Duggan tapes his fist & punches Giant in the face repeatedly, but he doesn’t go down. He falls over the top onto his feet and just stares Duggan down.
Road Warriors vs Meng & Barbarian March 9, 1996 Who’s the least toughest dude in this one? Barb & Animal start and Barb hits a powerslam right out the gate & Animal just pops up. Flying shoulder tackle by Animal as Barb eats a boot & clothesline, then a leaping elbow drop. Tag to Hawk, who foolishly shoves Barb into his own corner to tag Meng & Hawk gets beat up as a result. Powerslam by Meng for 1, then Hawk hits a powerslam of his own that Meng no sells. We get a double clothesline spot as Barb tags in, hits a powerbomb & immediately tags back in Meng, who hasn’t even recovered yet. Double diving headbutts for 2 as the Faces of Feat hit a Spike Piledriver 1…2…Animal breaks it up, only to get booted outside. Barb goes for a boot & Animal tackles his own partner so Barb kicks Meng. Hawk with a diving clothesline off the top on Barb as Animal takes out Meng for the 3 count. I would’ve lost my shit had they hit their Doomsday Device on either man.
Disco Inferno vs Pat Tanaka March 9, 1996 Tanaka gets taken down as Disco goes after the leg wisely, but does a little boogie after. Again he stomps on the leg & wrenches at the ankle as Tanaka kicks him with his good leg into the ropes & Disco does a cart wheel and dance. Tanaka takes advantage & rolls him up for the 3 count. PAT TANAKA WINS IN 1996!! Disco doesn’t care; his hair is what is most important.
Road Warriors vs Men at Work March 16, 1996 Not Emilio Estevez & Charlie Sheen, it’s Mark Starr & Chris Kanyon. Unfortunately we never get the match as Scott & Rick Steiner attack Men at Work, then the Road Warriors as we get a fucking donny brook & a wild brawl going all over the small arena. Rick & Animal and Scott & Hawk separately brawl to the back & that was it. We’re robbed of LOD vs Men At Work!
Fit Finlay vs Squire David Taylor (w/Jeeves) March 16, 1996 The Bruiser slams Taylor neck first on the side of the apron, then snap mares him back in, but Taylor fires an uppercut & returns the favor, slamming Finlay on the apron. Bruiser gets a nerve hold into a chin lock, then drives his knee into the neck for 2. We get a reset as Finlay gets a leg takedown, but Taylor punts him to take over, then a shoulder tackle & uppercut. Taylor misses a splash & Finlay murders him with a lariat for the 3 count. Regal shows up with Bobby Eaton and both get clocked before Finlay bails.
Hulk Hogan & Randy Savage vs Shark & Barbarian March 16, 1996 Mega Powers storm the heels right away as they hit clotheslines, back elbows, 10 punches in the corner & some chokes as the ref calls for the bell & I assume DQ’s Hogan and Savage for not separating from their opponents? Hell, I honestly think it’s a double DQ or no contest because Hogan ain’t losing on Saturday Night, brother. Barb & Shark are able to fight back for like 30 seconds before it’s just more brawling. Kevin Sullivan & Arn Anderson are out there & get hit also. The point of this is beyond me, maybe because Hogan & Savage were going into Uncensored in that awful triple decker cage against the Dungeon of Doom?
Col. Robert Parker (w/Dick Slater) vs Tommy Bonds March 23, 1996 I think Parker is wrestling because he’s wrestling Madusa at Uncensored. Parker literally takes the ref, Slater clocks him with a right hand as he puts his jacket down & Parker tries to apply a leg submission & fails horribly. Bonds taps before Parker even touches his legs & it looks like Parker is pounding him from behind, if you catch my drift. It was really awkward. I’m hoping Parker bought Bonds dinner first.
Ric Flair (w/Woman & Miss Elizabeth) vs Booty Man (w/Booty Babe) WCW World Heavyweight Title April 6, 1996 Flair gets out of a hammerlock with a drop toe hold, then shoves Booty to the corner & gets a right hand blocked as Booty Man unloads right hands. Flair takes his corner flop & regroups outside. Rake to the eyes by Naitch lets him get control as he chops Booty down & struts as he goes up top, gets caught & slammed down. Right hands by Booty, who hits a big back body drop & Flair begs for time out. Booty hits the HIGH KNEE, but Woman has the referee. Taskmaster hits the ring & attacks Booty Man and this has been thrown out. Flair joins the attack & they hit a Spike Piledriver on Booty Man!
Madusa vs Col. Robert Parker (w/Dick Slater) April 13, 1996 Madusa hops on the back of Parker & rakes the eyes as Parker slams her down, but misses an elbow. Madusa hits a sunset flip from the apron in for the 1…2...Parker kicks out as Madusa with a head scissors takedown. She chucks Parker over the top rope & Parker wins by DQ! The WCW over the top rope rule rears its ugly head finally in one of these matches! This leads us to…
Madusa vs Col. Robert Parker (w/Dick Slater) - No DQ Match April 20, 1996 Slater chokes Madusa with his towel as Parker lifts her up in a choke & slams her down. He tries for a piledriver, but Madusa fights & hits a back drop as the crowd pops huge. Bodyslam by Deuce as Parker bails outside & runs to the back. Madusa wins a No DQ match by countout. Vintage WCW!
The Giant vs Dick Slater April 27, 1996 Giant shoots Slater to the corner, who bounces out & eats a big boot, then an elbow to the neck. Giant shoots Slater to the corner again & knocks Slater outside, but Giant misses a splash & eats the post. Slater waits for Giant to get back in the ring, but the big man fights back & applies a bear hug. Slater bites out, hits the ropes & Giant hooks him & nails the Choke Slam for the win. Slater got a ton more offense than I expected.
Lex Luger vs Bobby Walker – Television Title May 11, 1996 Bell sounds & Luger attacks with Walker’s back turned. He slaps on the Torture Rack & that’s it. 10 seconds tops. Love how they actually announced this was for the TV Title too.
Steiner Brothers vs Fire & Ice May 11, 1996 Exploder suplex within seconds by Scott on Ice Train, but Train hits a big boot to follow. Big time splash for 2, then Scott fires back with an overhead belly to belly. Both partners tag & Norton nails a shoulder tackle & Rick with a powerslam. We get a clothesline/German suplex spot by the Steiners & they drop both Norton & Train on their heads in the process. Double camera shots as we get an all out brawl with Norton hitting a powerbomb, 2 clotheslines, but Scott hits a sloppy Stun Gun as they brawl to the floor & the ref counts both teams out. For the 90 seconds it went, these were two beefy guys doin some clubberin. So a victory in my eyes.
Steiner Brothers vs American Males May 25, 1996 Riggs gets dropped early by Scott, but he fires back with a dropkick. Scott lets him only get that move as he hits a double arm underhook suplex as Riggs tags Bagwell & here comes the Dog Faced Gremlin. Bagwell tries for a suplex, but Rick puts on the brakes, tries one himself, but Bagwell lands on his feet, hits a monkey flip & goes up top with a splash 1…Rick kicks out. Bagwell up top again, but Rick catches him, release belly to belly. Tag to Scott, who powerslams Bagwell in the corner, charges, but eats a boot. Males with a double back elbow for 2, but he hits a clothesline on Riggs, Bagwell clotheslines Scott, Rick clotheslines Bagwell. Scott Frankensteiners Riggs for the 3 count. Ending came super quick.

For the love of all things holy...why couldn't WCW World Champion Ric Flair get a clean win over Booty Man in 1996? I mean really? A schmozz finish in THAT match?
I have a passionate hatred for Dick Slater. That is all.
Had no idea Dave Sullivan was still hanging around in 1996.
Has there ever been a worse "big fat guy" wrestler than Loch Ness? This guy makes Uncle Elmer look like Tiger Mask.
Has there ever been a worse "giant" wrestler than Ron Studd/The Yetay!/Super Giant Ninja/Reese? This guy makes Giant Silva look like Andre.

I loved when Dave Sullivan would be introduced they'd say "accompanied to the ring by Ralph the Rabbit!"
And then poor Evad would be murdered.

I loved when Dave Sullivan would be introduced they'd say "accompanied to the ring by Ralph the Rabbit!" And then poor Evad would be murdered. There should have at least been consideration of a Hogan comedy stable of Hulkamaniacs featuring Randy Hogan and Evad Sullivan. Think Edge and his Edgeheads.

Hogan's WCW backup in 95 at one point was Randy Savage, Renegade & Dave Sullivan
What a slap in the face to Savage
Of course they feuded with Kevin Sullivan, Zodiac, Kamala and the fucking Shark, so there's that too.
WCW 1995. And the worst was yet to come somehow.

WCW Saturday Night 1996 (Part 2)
Kevin Sullivan, Arn Anderson & Lex Luger vs The Gambler, Cobra & Pat Tanaka March 16, 1996 Ok, so I know I'm entering June, but I saw this pairing and couldn't resist going back. This was before Uncensored when The Alliance to End Hulkamania consisted of Luger, Arn, Sullivan and a host of others, thus why they're teaming against the murderers row of WCW job guys. Gambler has a legit staredown with Sullivan during his entrance as Arn & Taskmaster come to the ring together, allowing Lex to barge into the ring & attack everyone. Tanaka did a 360 off a lariat in the process. Lex then simply goes to the back after laying everyone out, making this a handicap match. So Arn just applies an arm bar like nothing happened to Tanaka & Sullivan tags in and chops away. I think Cobra is dead (we never see him again after he got posted) on the floor as The Gambler & Arn jump in as The Enforcer quickly takes my boy down as he & Taskmaster hit a double clothesline. Arn tags in & hits a Spinebuster on Gambler before Sullivan hits his double stomp for the 3 count. Tanaka could care less about breaking up the pin. This combo was so weird.
Prince Iaukea vs The Gambler June 1, 1996 This was Prince’s debut as Gambler attacks at the bell, choking him in the ropes, but the rookie fires back, only to eat a right hand & dropped by Gambler. Iaukea hits one dropkick, but crashes on the second as Gambler slams him back to the mat, then tosses Iaukea to the apron. Gambler demands the ref count him out as Prince hits a springboard cross body for the quick 3. Lame.
DDP vs Kurasawa June 8, 1996 Didn’t know Kurasawa still worked for the company as Page shoulder tackles him down & does his discus clothesline to knock Kurasawa down. Hip toss & clothesline to the floor by Kurasawa as DDP gets tossed back inside & Kurasawa is acting full on firey babyface, which is hilarious. Samoan Drop plants Dallas for 2 as Kurasawa misses a clothesline, DDP with a superkick to the ribs & Diamond Cutter for the quick win.
The Giant vs Prince Iaukea, Mark Starr, Rex King & Cobra June 12, 1996 Prince tries a cross body & bounces off Giant like a brick wall. He immediately murders him with a choke slam, then does the same to Rex King. He gtes the 3 count as Starr & Cobra just watch this happen. After the 3 count, Starr leaps off the top & Giant hits a choke slam in mid air, then another one to Cobra & pins them both for good measure. Absolute destruction.
Kevin Sullivan vs Pat Tanaka June 22, 1996 Tanaka wants revenge for what happened in that 6 man tag in March, but he gets posted immediately & clobbered with a chair as Taskmaster clearly has somewhere to be as he slams Tanaka on the concrete & takes Tanaka into the backstage area where they brawl down steps. He smacks Tanaka into the side of a truck as the referee & Doug Dillinger tries to separate them as Tanaka sells it like he’s been murdered. Poor Tanaka, couldn’t even bump around like he does best.
Madusa vs Debbie Combs June 22, 1996 Debbie Combs is either 38 or 65 years old. Regardless, she's looking for revenge for her former Glamour Girls partner Lelani Kai for losing to Madusa at WrestleMania 10 just two years earlier (even back in 96 that feels like 10 years earlier). She attacks before the bell & chokes Deuce on the top rope. Combs has a flesh colored leotard on & it’s, well, it’s something. Madusa just slammed down by her hair & bodyslam, as she tries a splash from the second & misses. Combs tries for a German suplex, but Madusa rolls through & gets the 3 count. This is like the 3rd or 4th time she’s had a match where she’s gotten zero offense in & just got a roll up. It’s crazy.
The Giant vs Booty Man WCW World Heavyweight Title July 27, 1996 Kimberly looks insanely hot in her skin tight shorts & best booby top. I have zero idea why Booty Man keeps getting random World Title shots (I mean we all know, brother, but still). Giant misses an elbow in the corner as Booty throws boots & right hands, then a High Knee in the corner that Giant no sells. Clubbing blows as Giant chokes him with his boot in the corner, then slams him back first in the corner & into the other corner. Finally he just drops him & hits a Choke Slam for the easy win. Kimberly seriously questioning why the hell she’s still wasting time with Booty Man, wait, that’s just me. I think this was honestly the end of The Booty Man, as Brutus tried to join the NWO later next month and would fail.
Renegade vs Meng August 3, 1996 Meng just lights him up with shots at the bell as Braun the Leprechaun sprints out to the ring & goes to the back just as quick. Sure, why the hell not? Meng bites Renegade & chops away before going at the eyes. Renegade tries two clotheslines & finally hits a cross body for 2. He goes to the second with a double axe handle, then backdrops Meng down for 2. Another double axe handle, then to the top rope, but Meng clocks him with a super kick for the 3 count.
The Giant vs Brian Knobbs WCW World Heavyweight Title August 3, 1996 I'll let you do a double take at that matchup. Knobbs attacks at the bell & just gets pie faced repeatedly to the mat. Giant annihilates him with a lariat, then chokes him in the corner with a boot. He gives a butt bump in the corner like Andre would, but Knobbs escapes the third one, tries a bodyslam & fails horribly. Giant slams him, then applies a bear hug. Knobbs fights free, charges & eats a big boot as Giant is done messing around, hits a Choke Slam & defends his title. I think this was Knobbs’ only World Title shot?
The Giant vs Renegade August 31, 1996 Sadly Giant is no longer WCW Champ, but while he lost the title, he gained Hugh Morrus by his size in this one, so, downgrade. This has to be one of Giant’s last matches before turning to the NWO. Poor Renegade, one year removed from his push, doesn’t even get an entrance. Knee to the ribs & clubbing shots by Giant as he chokes him with is boot, but misses a splash in the corner. Renegade gets off his handspring elbow, but Giant no sells like he’s Hogan, grabs him by the throat & hits the Choke Slam for the win. Post match Morrus hits the moonsault for good measure & answers why he was out there in the first place.
Arn Anderson vs Bobby Walker September 7, 1996 Knee to the midsection by Double A, who throws Walker over the top rope & Nick Patrick disqualifies him. Walker wins in 5 seconds. Arn cut a promo on Giant joining the NWO, which begs the question, why bother putting your gear on?
Bobby Eaton vs Squire David Taylor (w/Jeeves) September 7, 1996 The Squire didn't wear that gear in this match, but I always loved whenever he wore this on Nitro, his Sherlock Chic, if you will. Taylor argues with Jeeves at the bell, but he still cheap shots Eaton in the throat, then dishes some uppercuts as Eaton bumps. Eaton fights back, but again, Taylor with uppercuts & a snap mare. They trade right hands before Eaton his a neck breaker for 2. Taylor hits a weird fall away slam for 2, then scolds Jeeves, who tried to apparently tell the ref Taylor’s feet were on the ropes, I guess? Back inside, Taylor goes to slam Eaton, but Jeeves hooks his leg, Eaton falls on top and gets the win. This was Jeeves finally fighting back after months of abuse from the Blue Bloods.
Rey Mysterio vs Juventud Guerrera Cruiserweight Title September 21, 1996 Rey monkey flips Juvi over the top, but he lands on the apron & hits a springboard wheel kick, then an Asai Moonsault to follow. It’s mostly concrete out there, so Juvi took it more than Rey did. Back inside, snap mare & springboard moonsault by Rey gets 2 as Juvi rolls outside, but right into Rey hitting a rana off the apron. They do an insane amount of cool counters (you’ve seen these guys wrestle before) as Juvi gets a waist lock, Rey rolls through, Juvi on the apron & he reverse suplexes Rey to the apron with him. Juvi tries for a victory roll on the apron, but gets slammed down as Rey hits a wild head scissors back into the ring for a near fall. Gut wrench powerbomb by Rey for 2 as he sets Juvi up in the corner, but Juvi sends him to the apron & he does a 450 for no damn reason, landing on his feet, he charges Rey & gets slammed down. Juvi fights back with a brainbuster & signals for the end as he goes to the top, missing a guillotine leg, Rey up top with a West Coast Pop 1…2…3! Fun match & it’s a shame I couldn’t say the same about Juvi’s next endeavor on Saturday Night…
Lex Luger vs Juventud Guerrera September 28, 1996 Luger works the arm, but Juvi kips up, reverses it, Lex misses a splash & Juvi with a somersault dropkick! Lex no sells & just beats Juvi down & nails a powerslam before getting the Torture Rack & the win. Total Package ain’t got time for lucha things!
Randy Savage vs Big Bubba September 28, 1996 With Elizabeth watching on from the opening of the stage, Savage slams Bubba into the ring steps, tosses him inside, then hits a double axe handle before going up top & hits his flying elbow drop once, twice, goes for a third, but Nick Patrick stops him, so Savage thankfully punches him in the face. Jackie Crockett, the camera guy, tries to stop Savage, but gets slammed down. Chris Jericho, Chavo Guerrero, Mark Starr & a host of others try to stop Savage, who bails over the railing through the crowd. No Contest, I guess?
Meng & Barbarian vs John Tenta & Ron Studd October 5, 1996 Poor Studd tries like 5 times to get a high five from Tenta during their entrance & thankfully he finally gets it. Perseverance pays off folks. Tenta gets double teamed right away as Meng & Barb then make quick tags beating the former Earthquake down and to his credit, Tenta is bumping all over for them. He tries fighting back, but just absorbs some Meng chops until he rakes his eyes, tags Barb & he tries a bodyslam, but can’t do it. Tenta with a bodyslam & hot tag to Studd, who dishes out some knees to Meng, then a big boot & clothesline. Studd looks like he’s raising the roof, but he’s actually signaling on picking Meng up as Barb clips his knee & he tumbles down. They hit a double back suplex on Studd, then Barb hip tosses Meng onto Studd for a 2 count. Meng hits a super kick on Tenta sending him outside, then Meng picks up Studd, Barb with a kick & Meng just tosses Studd down like a 7 foot stack of potatoes for the 3 count.
Ron Studd vs Jack Boot October 12, 1996 Zero clue why Buddy Lee Parker decided to change his name, but this is his “debut”, despite having the same gear & everything as Buddy Lee Parker. He tries to grab a leg of the former Yeti, but that’s dumb as it has no effect, much like the punches he’s throwing. He gets caught in a choke & slammed down as Studd gets a fireman’s carry & drives him to the corner. Boot takes a hard buckle as Studd signals for the end & hits a massive vertical suplex for the win. For someone “making his debut” Jack Boot sucked.
“Sting” vs Bunkhouse Buck October 12, 1996 So obviously, this was the NWO Sting, but he wasn’t black & white yet, he was still Cobra dressing in neon. Nick Patrick is the official to complete the NWO association here as Buck gets an arm drag & big boot as he gets a surprisingly fair 2 count. Sting eats a boot from the corner, but misses a legdrop off the second. Stinger splash by Cobra, who slaps on the Scorpion Death Lock for the easy win. This was the most impressive Cobra looked in his entire run as all it took was to abandon that gimmick & become Sting. Lex Luger sprints out & Sting bails.
Randy Savage vs Roadblock October 19, 1996 Well, Savage music hits, but he doesn’t show up, robbing us of this classic. Roadblock is pissed, so he walks backstage & literally grabs a jobber sitting down, brings him to the ring and murders him. Apparently this is legal as the referee rings the bell & he hits a Worlds Strongest Slam, then another, then a third for the 3 count. Roadblock goes to the camera and says unlike Randy, he’ll show up on Monday. Dammit, we needed more Roadblock in our lives!
The Giant vs Pat Tanaka – United States Title November 2, 1996 This was from the infamous NWO Saturday Night as Syxx was on commentary and Nick Patrick was in a ski mask as the ref. It’s also an empty arena for Nitro. Tanaka’s graphic read “Wang cha-ching School with Wax On, Wax Off technique”. Holy shit. For some reason Giant comes through the stands, with no one there, except Ted Dibiase & Virgil. Outsiders on commentary. This is also in black & white. Giant starts…with…an arm drag, no joke. The amount of camera cuts in this is a Kevin Dunn wet dream, it’s ridiculous. Giant beats the shit out of Tanaka for the entire match, hits his standard offense & wins with a Choke Slam (that’s shown in picture in picture for some reason).
Meng & Barbarian vs Roadblock & Ron Studd December 14, 1996 You want the beef, here comes the beef as Barb kicks away at the leg of Studd to bring him down to size, then they trade boots for like 10 times as Studd chokes away in the corner, but misses a splash. Meng tags in & now it’s time to die as he unloads crazy shots to the head & chops away before Studd gets an elbow & tag to Roadblock, who gets lit up by Meng. The brawl is on as some stiff shots are thrown & Meng no sells a lariat, but gets creamed with a boot flush for 2. Meng pops up & hits a back suplex before tagging Barb. They light up Roadblock with shots before Barb hits a clothesline & some elbow drops. He foolishly tries a bodyslam & can’t do it. Roadblock hits one instead, then goes to the top rope (yep), but misses a big 450 pound splash! Boot of Doom by Barb for the 3 count as that match ruled something fierce!

The amount of Saturday Night in 1997 I've watched is fucking staggering. I'm almost worn out on WCW, but I've come this far, I must finish this journey.
I can't wait to start the next chapter of this thread. It's already in the can and ready.
This thread has pretty much filled my wrestling needs during this quarantine. I don't watch RAW or SD, I get caught up on NXT later and AEW is the only 2 hours I watch of live wrestling each week.
Roadblock & Gambler squashes are getting me through, haha

WCW Saturday Night (January 1997) Big Bubba vs Mr. JL December 19, 1996 I almost forgot about this gem, so I had to add it in before I forgot. Ski mask wearing Nick Patrick of the NWO is the referee as Bubba chucks JL outside & into the steps. Bubba walks over & randomly grabs a bike, so Dusty Rhodes says the infamous "HE GOT A BICYCLE!!" line as Bubba chokes JL with the bike. He didn't hit him with it, he choked him with it. Back inside, big boot by Bubba as he chokes JL, but doesn't get reprimanded because it's a NWO ref. JL gets a boot up & flying clothesline, but Bubba doesn't go down. He hits a missile dropkick, but again doesn't go down. High cross body knocks Bubba down, but he charges & runs right into a Bubba Slam for the 3 count. Thank you Dusty, HE GOT A BICYCLE is such a famous line.
Alex Wright vs Super Calo January 11, 1997 Wright fires off early uppercuts, then leap frogs Calo a few times, only to get boots in the belly welly. He catches Calo with a tilt a whirl back breaker & back suplex for 2 then stacks Calo up after a powerbomb for another near fall. Half crab applied as Calo gets the ropes & Wright climbs to the top, but takes way too long & gets crotched. Calo with a head scissors for 2 & drops some elbows before dumping Wright to the floor. Calo does his slingshot senton splash that’s super scary looking & hurts him way more than it does his opponent. He goes up top & tries a somersault dive, but Wright moves, clocks him with a wheel kick & a few uppercuts. It’s academic from there as he hits a super high German Suplex for the win.
Tombstone vs Ice Train January 11, 1997 So Tombstone is 911 from ECW, the muscle for Paul Heyman. Needless to say he made a bad choice going to WCW as he was barely used here & when he was, it was against Ice Train. They lock up & 911 gets an eye rake and a dropkick, which was impressive for a man his size. He tries for another one, but misses & Train hits a big clotheslineas he hits a bodyslam & Vader Bomb out of the corner for the quick 3. Like I said, bad move going to WCW.
DDP vs Bobby Eaton January 11, 1997 Eaton mocks DDP’s pose in the corner as Page does a “BANG!” signal before Eaton arm drags him. Arm bar by Bobby, but DDP reverses & works the arm as Eaton pulls his hair down to the mat. Headlock by Page, who hits a shoulder & swinging neckbreaker, but Eaton hits a right hand & goes to a wrist lock. DDP gets up quickly & punches out, as he shoots Eaton into the corner, who bounces out & Page hits a running Diamond Cutter for the 3.
Disco Inferno vs Mike Enos January 11, 1997 Disco really wants Enos to dance & the former Beverly just mocks him & suckers him in with a clothesline. Falling headbutts repeatedly as Enos hits a legdrop and snap powerslam before going for a somersault slingshot legdrop from the apron, but misses. Disco tries to go for a Figure Four, but can’t figure out how to do it, so Enos rolls him up for the 3 count. Disco tried to wrestle & failed miserably, which is a storyline I wish would’ve went longer.
La Parka vs Scott Armstrong January 11, 1997 They trade takedowns & counters early before Parka picks the leg & almost gets a small package for 2. Headlock by Scott as he hits a shoulder & chops Parka repeatedly. La Parka boots Scott in the gut & nails a superkick as he pops him with a spinning heel kick & a bodyslam. To the top goes Parka, who connects with a corkscrew plancha for the super quick 3 count. This barely went 90 seconds.
The Renegade & Joe Gomez vs Jim Powers & Bobby Walker January 11, 1997 Renegade gets an arm drag, hip toss & bodyslam on Walker before tagging Gomez, who quickly eats a drop toe hold. Tag to Powers who wrenches the arm & hip tosses Gomez, slamming him down with a lariat for 2. Tag to Walker as Gomez pops him with a forearm, but misses an elbow, so Walker hits a cross body for the 3 count. That was literally it, no one saw that ending coming.
Rey Mysterio vs Chavo Guerrero January 11, 1997 Headlock by Rey as Chavo tries a monkey flip, but Rey cartwheels out & dropkicks Chavo down. To the corner, Rey charges & eats a boot as Chavo somersaults off the top, lands on his feet, Rey charges again & Chavo hits a powerbomb for 2. Camel Clutch applied which Chavo gives up for a Boston Crab, then gives that up for a chinlock. Snap suplex gets Chavo 2 as Rey tries a baseball slide through the legs, but gets caught & Chavo powerbombs him again. Vertical suplex gets a 2 for Chavito, who slips off a diving splash off the top & Rey just hits a West Coast Pop for the 3 count. Rey is holding his knee post match & it always worries me, this was only early 97 and Rey already had knee problems.
Harlem Heat (w/Sherri) vs The Amazing French Canadians (w/Col. Parker) January 11, 1997 Pierre & Stevie start with Pierre getting an eye rake & clubbing shots, but Stevie quickly answers with a powerslam. Tag to Book, who hits a perfect scissors kick for 2. Book hits the ropes, but runs into a Hot Shot by the Canadians, who tosses Book to the floor as Jacques & Parker put the boots to him. The Mountie slams Book into the steps, tossing him back inside as Pierre pours it on. Yet another Hot Shot by the Quebecers as they isolate Book & taunt Stevie for minutes. Jacques gives up a front face lock to hit Stevie, who clocks him & Booker gets a Harlem Side Kick for 3. Wow, really shitty finish. Maybe they were against the clock as this was the last match of the show? Not sure, just a bad match overall. Sole highlight was Parker’s drawn on French mustache.
Chavo Guerrero vs Mr. JL January 18, 1997 Chavo poses in the corner pre-match, but JL attacks from behind, dropping Chavo to the floor. He sends him into the railing before slamming him face first into the mat as we head inside. JL super aggressive here as Chavo quickly hits a tilt a whirl head scissors & slingshot plancha outside! JL regains control in the ring, choking away in the corner, misses a clothesline as Chavo hits a cross body for 2. Flying asshole by Chavo, who hits a somersault senton & a moonsault for the 3 count, big win for Chavito.
Big Bubba vs Konnan – Chain Match January 18, 1997 Bubba wearing NWO colors, which I totally forgot he was member of at this time. I also have no idea why this is a chain match. Konnan ducks a chain shot & loses his grip on the chain, so they have to wait to reapply it. Bubba gets tangled up in the chain & Konnan nuts him with it as he falls through the ropes. Bubba ties Konnan’s feet up with the chain using the ropes, but Konnan gets free & hits a pretty bad suicide dive as they brawl to the back & this is apparently a double countout. Again, a double countout in a chain match. Vintage WCW!
Lord Steven Regal vs Psychosis January 18, 1997 Regal works the arm bar, but Psychosis reverses & Regal rolls through into a wrist lock. Knees & uppercuts are dished out in the corner and some palm strikes as well as Psychosis floats over & hits a dropkick. Up to the top, spinning heel kick to the face of Regal, who fires back with more open palms right to the chops. Psychosis knocks him down out of the corner & connects with a moonsault 1…2…Regal kicks out. Victory roll gets another 2 count as a spin kick drops Regal to the floor. Slingshot diving leg drop awkwardly connects across the sternum as the luchador tosses Regal inside, goes up top, but Regal dropkicks him in mid air! Reverse suplex sets the stage for the Regal Stretch and that’s all she wrote.
Rick Steiner vs Mike Enos January 18, 1997 Enos attacks before the bell with a neckbreaker, wanting revenge for the Royal Rumble 1993 as Rick hits his powerslam and starts making Enos pay. Overhead release belly to belly as Enos grabs the tights & chucks Rick to the floor. Double axe off the apron as the ref checks on Rick in the ring, so Scott, who gets shoved by Enos, levels him with a clothesline. He tosses the Beverly back inside where Rick is waiting for him & hits the Steiner Bulldog off the top for the 3.
Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs The Gambler January 18, 1997 Dusty loses his mind after Gambler takes a back drop, goes to the floor & takes a bump! Duggan out after him as Gambler rakes the eyes, but eats the post by Hacksaw. Tony talked about not being born when Dusty grew up “OHH!! DAGGER IN MY CHEST! THAT CUTS ME LIKE A KNIFE!” as Dusty is heartbroken at the ageism. Whirly bird bodyslam by Duggan, who takes the tape out & tapes the fist up…to hit his clothesline. Taped fist, for a clothesline. Gambler struggles up & eats a right hand to give Duggan the tainted 3 count.
Disco Inferno vs Bobby Eaton January 18, 1997 Let’s see if Eaton can bounce back from his loss last week to DDP. Cheap shot right hand starches Eaton as Disco takes him down, but Eaton pops up and drops Disco with hard rights of his own. Pop up back breaker by Beautiful Bobby, but Disco puts on the brakes to avoid a back drop & hits a neck breaker. Disco pulls instructions out of his boots on how to properly apply the Figure Four, but takes too long, gets booted into the corner as Eaton hits a running neckbreaker for the 3! Beautiful Bobby headed to the Pay Winda! We see Disco’s instructions post match & it’s just a drawing of a man with his leg turned into a 4, which is fucking hilarious.
Maxx Muscle (w/Jimmy Hart) vs Mark Starr January 18, 1997 Maxx was still part of the Dungeon of Doom (you figure out why) at this point as he gorilla presses Starr in the air & Snake Eyes him down in the corner. Side suplex by the big man, who clobbers Starr down with a flying back elbow. The former Men at Worker throws a boot, it gets caught, Maxx swings wildly (STARR DOESN’T DUCK so it looks stupid), then Starr throws an enzugiri WITH THE WRONG LEG and catches Maxx right in the face. That was rough. Starr randomly tries a standing ankle lock, but Maxx hits a back fist & the spinning Full Nelson for the submission win. This was really, really bad.
Arn Anderson vs The Barbarian January 18, 1997 Hard chops by Barb starts us off, but Arn gets a back elbow in the corner & a diving double axe, but gets caught & tossed outside. Meng walks to the ring as Barb tosses the Enforcer into the railing & posts him as well. Back inside, Barb hits a powerslam for 2, then snap mares him down, drops an elbow for another 2 count. Arn fights back briefly, but gets cut off just as quick as Barb chokes away in the corner. Barb lowers his head & eats a boot as Arn goes for the DDT, but takes out Meng on the apron instead. Barb clocks Arn with a Boot of Fear, but as he covers him, Jeff Jarrett hits the ring to get his ass handed to him by Meng & Barbarian. Arn is going to grab a chair to help, but Chris Benoit runs out and holds him back, telling him to leave Jarrett. Barbarian actually wins this match via disqualification, which, ironically enough, is the right decision, which is baffling for WCW.
Ultimo Dragon vs Mr. JL January 25, 1997 Dragon gets early kicks, but flips out a JL back drop, as they both miss kick attempts. Dragon is sent outside & JL nails a slingshot dive, but Sonny Onoo starts kicking JL in the back right in front of the ref, who does nothing. Dragon hits a slingshot dive of his own as we go back inside where Dragon punts JL in the back. JL gets a baseball slide & some dropkicks, then hits a bulldog off the second for 2. Dragon ducks a clothesline & nails a neckbreaker before slapping on a Muta Lock for the submission win. Poor JL, should’ve won by DQ, but the ref just didn’t care.
High Voltage vs The Extremists January 25, 1997 Devon Storm & Ace Darling are the Extremists, as Storm tries a springboard leg lariat, but botches it & hits the feet of Rage. Kaos tags in & just beats Storm down before Darling pops a knee to the back & they double team the High Voltage member with a face buster. They try a rocket launcher splash, but Kaos gets his knees up & tags Rage. Dusty asks if he’s ever been called Ace Darling, Tony says he’s never been called Ace, but Dusty says he’s called him Darling, haha. Darling tries a corner hurricanrana as Storm tries a follow up Moonsault, but Darling is the one who falls, so Storm hits his partner. Voltage hits a springboard Hart Attack for the 3 count. “Attitude will determine Altitude” is apparently their catchphrase. Shocking (get it, High Voltage) that never caught on.
Super Calo vs Chris Jericho January 25, 1997 Calo hits a few head scissors, but Jericho quickly flattens him with a lariat and powerbomb. Jericho goes for another clothesline, but gets like 5% of it, so Calo takes him down to the floor. Tope Con Hilo by Calo as he tosses Jericho back in & nails a slingshot stomp. Up top he goes, but eats a Jericho boot off his dive. Leaping kick by Y2J, who tries a monkey flip, but Calo sets him up in the corner & nails his head scissors 1…2…Jericho kicks out. Fisherman’s Buster by Jericho leads to the Lionsault, which in early 97, sets it up for the missile dropkick for 3. Fun little back and forth as we see the camera guy ringside telling the fans to cheer, which is always hilarious.
David Taylor vs Bobby Eaton January 25, 1997 Hooray, Taylor is wearing the Sherlock Chic look to the ring. After hiding in the ropes multiple times in the opening minutes, Taylor gets a cheap shot & starts dishing out uppercuts. Hard bodyslam, but Bobby fires back with right hands, dropping the Squire, sending him bumping all over. Eaton pounces on him and unloads rights, but Taylor rolls him up in the ropes, THE REF STILL COUNTS 3!! Eaton is pointing out how he was in the ropes, but Mark Curtis looks confused as that was it.
Arn Anderson & Steve McMichael vs Faces of Fear & Hugh Morrus January 25, 1997 I guess this is a handicap match, which they don’t explain why as I think this even confuses Tony & Dusty. Morrus no sells a Mongo shoulder block, but gets hit with a hip toss and bodyslam. Meng gets in and MONGO DROPKICKS HIM! Debra asks where Chris & Nancy are in the camera and my goodness was Debra unbearable at this point. Back to the ring, Anderson gets a fireman’s carry takedown on Meng, who pops up & hits a back breaker on the Enforcer. Tag to Morrus, who hits a scoop slam for 2 as Mongo breaks the count. Barb knocks Arn down and Mongo keeps breaking up the count, so Meng & Morrus beat him down. Just then, Jeff Jarrett hits the ring and he TAGS IN, so the referee DQ’s HIM! He goes after the Dungeon as Mongo & Arn bail on him to get his ass kicked. Meng, Barb & Morrus win the match by DQ, haha.
DDP vs Mark Starr January 25, 1997 Starr attacks from behind & chokes away as he hits a diving clothesline off the second for 2. DDP catches him with a small package for 2, but Starr pops up and hooks an arm bar. DDP back elbows him right in the jaw, front face slam, atomic drop & Diamond Cutter for the quick 3.
Scotty Riggs vs The Gambler January 25, 1997 Like I’m ever going to pass up a Gambler match? Riggs works an arm bar, then bodyslams & dropkicks Gambler down for 2 before hitting a back elbow. Back suplex gets a 1 count as IT’S GOING TO TAKE A WHOLE LOT MORE THAN THAT TO PUT MY BOY AWAY, RIGGS!! Gambler gets some elbows in the corner, choking away at Riggs, but he goes for an axe off the second and gets punched in the belly welly. Great dropkick by Riggs, who follows with a back drop as he tries a Fisherman’s Suplex and gets it for 3. Apparently this was Marcus Bagwell’s finisher (who knew that?) before the Buff Blockbuster, so this was a slap in the face to his former partner, I guess.
Lord Steven Regal vs Chavo Guerrero Jr. January 25, 1997 Regal works the arm, but Chavo cartwheels out and springs out of a head scissors before our stalemate. Chavo mocks Regal, so his Lordship pops him with palm strikes. Flying forearm by Chavo gets him 2 as Regal staggers into a school boy for another near fall. Eye poke, which Regal claims was a palm strike, but it wasn’t as he gets clubbing blows to the back. He tries a butterfly suplex ,but Chavo uses his weight to sit down on Regal and shoot him to the corner with a back body drop & dropkick. Bodyslam & Chavo goes to the top for a corkscrew senton, but Regal moves. Big reverse suplex & the Regal Stretch is applied for the submission win. Fun 3 minute back & forth match.
Harlem Heat vs Public Enemy January 25, 1997 Stevie gets a back elbow to drop Johnny early on as he tries a leap frog, but Johnny puts on the brakes & hits a neckbreaker for 2. Quick tag to the Flyboy, who drops an elbow on the back of the neck. He tries working an arm, gives up & clips a leg instead. Sherri trips up Rocco to allow Stevie to beat him down & tag his brother. Huge Harlem Side Kick by Booker, but Rocco ducks a lariat, tries a Quebrada, doesn’t get all the way over, but luckily just lands on Booker and not on his neck. Johnny gets the tag & Stevie does too as Rocco hits a double bulldog & the Public Enemy gets a near fall. Johnny & Booker brawl outside and Sherri is standing on the apron, right next to where the table is set up. She holds Rocco as Johnny sneaks up from behind her, holds her as Rocco is sent into both of them and JOHNNY & SHERRI GO THROUGH THE TABLE!! Sherri takes none of the bump, so it was all Johnny, but it was cool nonetheless. Booker & Stevie help Sherri stumble to the back and take the countout loss. Pretty clever ending for a TV match. When would you ever see Sherri take a table bump?

WCW Saturday Night (February 1997)
Glacier vs Ace Darling February 1, 1997 Glacier works the arm & gets an arm drag before hitting multiple kicks, dropping Darling. Leg sweep by Glacier, but Darling pops him in the face with a right & hits a back elbow. Darling tries a guillotine leg off the top, but misses badly & Glacier connects with a butterfly powerbomb! Wheel kick to the back of the head drops Darling for the quick win.
Pat Tanaka vs Villano IV February 8, 1997 Goldberg theme in early 97 means give me some Pat Tanaka! This was also Villano IV’s debut in WCW apparently. They trade arm bars as Villano gets an arm drag & Tanaka claims a hair pull. Dusty apparently dated Villano IV and it doesn’t confuse Tony, he just goes with it. Hurricanrana by Villano, leaps for another, but Tanaka powerbombs out of it for 2. Hard back elbow crumbles Villano, but the luchador fights back with a crescent kick & stiff lariat. Northern Lights gets a near fall as Tanaka takes a back drop as Villano struggles mightily to get a sunset flip & gets the 3. Terrible ending.
Jeff Jarrett vs Hugh Morrus February 8, 1997 Side headlock takedown by Jarrett, but Morrus pops up & just shoves Double J to the mat. Hip toss by the big man, but he goes for another & Jarrett nails an atomic drop and drop toe hold. Fargo Strut as he hits a snap suplex while Mongo & Debra walk out and just distract Jeff. Have I mentioned how terrible of an actress Debra is at this point? Morrus beats the crap out of Jarrett, who tries a dropkick & misses, as Morrus teases a moonsault, opts for a leg drop off the second, missing. Sunset Flip by Jarrett gets him the 3 count.
Bunkhouse Buck vs Ron Powers February 8, 1997 They trade shoulder blocks before Buck turns his back & Powers clotheslines him to the floor, posting Buck. He tries again, but Buck posts him in return. Back inside, Buck gets a boot to the gut, then slaps on the Camel Clutch, wrenching at the nose in the process. Powers fights back with rights & a bodyslam, but as Buck tries for a Tombstone, Powers reverses it & drops Buck right on his head for the 3 count. Yikes, that Tombstone piledriver by Powers was rough.
Maxx Muscle vs Mr. JL February 8, 1997 JL gets a quick school boy for 2, then some corner dropkicks as he tries a cross body, but Maxx was too far out to catch him, so he just picks him back up & slams him. Dusty points out how he has a frog in his throat & Tony just agrees as he says Maxx is looking for the Pay Winda. Side suplex by the big man as JL floats over a corner attack, charges, back handspring, but Maxx catches him into a Full Nelson airplane spin & submits JL! Maxx Muscle squash match in 97, right on.
Konnan (w/Jimmy Hart) vs Billy Pearl February 8, 1997 Somersault lariat by Konnan, as he snap mares Pearl down & dropkicks him in the mush. Slingshot into a Boston Crab, but K-Dog holds onto the hands & swings Pearl around before folding him up like a pretzel. Pearl manages to get in a few dropkicks & a clothesline as Konnan pops right up & dropkicks Pearl in the face again. Stiff powerbomb is the prelude for a vertical suplex into a key lock, but gives it up to connect with The 137 for the 3 count.
Roadblock vs Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker February 8, 1997 Parker gets squashed in the corner by Roadblock, who bodyslams him down, but misses an elbow. Parker throws some rights & tries a dropkick, but Roadblock no sells, charges in the corner and eats a boot. Parker leaps off the second, gets caught & flattened with a World’s Strongest Slam for the 3 count. Tony calls it The Detour Drop, which, cool.
The Steiner Brothers vs Mike Enos & Bunkhouse Buck February 15, 1997 Enos & Scott start as Steiner hits a back elbow & drops Enos with a belly to belly. Enos gets a boot to the face & drops a headbutt into the lower back as he tags in Buck, who quickly applied a Camel Clutch. Scott powers up & slams Buck into his corner, tagging in Rick, who murders poor Buck with a Steiner-line before tagging in Scott. They hit their Steiner Bulldog off the top for the quick 3 count as the Steiners weren’t fucking around tonight! Maybe some late Valentine’s Day plans?
Maxx Muscle vs Chavo Guerrero Jr. February 15, 1997 Let’s see if Maxx can keep the win streak going here as he uses, for lack of a better term, his muscles to toss Chavo down, but Chavo answers with a drop toe hold & dropkick to the face for 2. Flying forearm by Guerrero, who leaps up on Maxx’s shoulders for a victory roll, but Maxx slams him down on his face. Big elbow drops as Maxx applies a Full Nelson & does an airplane spin out of it and Chavo quickly submits. The Maxx streak is at 2!
Tombstone vs Roadblock February 15, 1997 Get ready folks, some hosses going to battle in this one. Tombstone attacks from behind & nails a diving splash in the corner, dropping the big man with a clothesline. He goes for another, but Roadblock reverses, hitting a clothesline of his own. Tombstone shoots Roadblock to the corner, misses a splash & Roadblock hits his Detour Drop for the 3 count. It went 45 seconds, but it should’ve gone 45 minutes, dammit!
Mr. JL vs Super Calo February 15, 1997 They trade arm bars with JL popping Calo up to the top rope, but Calo lands on his feet, leaps back and arm drags JL to the floor before wiping him out with a Tope Con Hilo! Back inside, Calo leaps off the top & JL dropkicks him in mid air. Tilt a whirl head scissors that sends Calo outside & JL nails a cross body off the top! Calo recovers quickly & tosses JL into the railing, hitting his murder senton (I’ll call it that from this point on) & goes back inside. To the top again, but JL cuts him off DRAPING DDT out the corner, but Calo gets a foot on the rope. Side suplex by JL, who goes up top, but takes too long & gets crotched. Calo does his giant head scissors off the top & a running senton for the 3 count. This was a pretty solid high flying match. They fit a lot of stuff in the short amount of time given.
DDP vs Devon Storm February 15, 1997 Page works an arm, but Storm kips up & uses the hair to pull Page down. They repeat the spot & Page gets a pumphandle back breaker. Eye poke by Storm, who punches away in the corner, hitting a Tornado DDT. Storm sends Page to the other side, but misses a splash, so DDP goes to the second & hits a diving Diamond Cutter for the 3. Pretty sloppy Cutter this week to be honest.
Harlem Heat (w/Sherri) vs High Voltage February 15, 1997 Stevie beats down Kaos to start, but misses a splash in the corner. Kaos lowers his heat & Stevie literally just boots him in the top of the head before tagging his brother. Big time back elbow by Book, who follows with a side suplex, only to miss an elbow. Rage in with a huge press slam, but Booker responds with a spin kick as Stevie gets in with a pump kick. Booker tags in, eats a powerslam as Rage gets the hot tag to Kaos, who back elbows Stevie (blind tag to Book) as they hit The Big Apple for the 3 count.
Jeff Jarrett vs Villano IV February 15, 1997 Jarrett pretty much winning the game of one-upmanship, does his Fargo Strut and promptly gets booted in the gut as a result. Hip toss blocked into a Villano arm drag & he hits a snap powerslam for 2. Villano goes for a top rope headbutt & misses as Jarrett hits a leaping DDT, then back to strutting. Villano almost gets a back slide, but Jarrett pops up & hits a clothesline. They trade clotheslines as Jarrett hits a terrible flap jack (I guess?) as Jarrett tries it again & luckily Villano floats over, school boy for 2. Jarrett then atomic drops the knee & slaps on the Figure Four for the win. Match was going good for a while, but it sort of fell apart at the end, so Jarrett just went for the leg & finish, which was probably for the best.
Prince Iaukea vs Hugh Morrus (w/Jimmy Hart) February 15, 1997 Morrus uses his size in the early going to just rag doll Iaukea around. Running splash, but Iaukea avoids the second one, goes up top & hits a HUGE Superfly Splash for 2. Morrus starts no selling chops as Iaukea tries a victory roll & Morrus slams him down and just sits down on his back. Back elbow & face stomp as it’s just clubbing blows & boots from here by Morrus. Spinning leg kick by The Laughing Man, who connects with No Laughing Matter as Morrus puts Iaukea on top of him 1…2…Morrus puts his foot on the rope & starts cracking up before covering Prince for the 3 count.
Rey Mysterio vs Villano IV February 22, 1997 Villano flips a bunch out of an arm bar & takes Rey down, who steps up and gets an arm triangle. He gets monkey flipped over, but maintains his grip, only to get booted in the face. Hard kick to the gut as Villano nails a corner clothesline, then shoulder blocks Rey down. Another lariat as Villano slams Rey down, but misses a somersault senton, only to flatten Rey with a powerslam for 2. He goes up top, missing a moonsault, allowing Rey to connect with a West Coast Pop for the 3. Rey barely got anything in this match, but he still won.
Prince Iaukea vs Jerry Flynn – Television Title February 22, 1997 One week removed from losing to Hugh Morrus, Iaukea went out and won the TV Title on Nitro, so this is for the title here. Flynn gets a wheel kick to the gut to start. He’s just laughing at Iaukea, which allows Prince to gets a school boy for 2, as Thunderfoot kicks away at the champ in the corner. Wild corner kick drops Prince as Flynn is toying with him, but he misses a wheel kick & Prince gets a dropkick, head butt, Northern Lights and goes up top for a high cross body for the 3 count. Successful title defense for Prince Iaukea.
Kevin Sullivan (w/Jacqueline & Jimmy Hart) vs Johnny Swinger February 22, 1997 Teddy Long gives an insert promo about how Jacqueline should watch her back because he used to be friends with Sullivan, but he turned his back on him & will do so to her too. Match starts with Jackie beating the shit out of Swinger outside as Sullivan took the ref. Inside, Taskmaster stomps on the hands & rakes the back as Dusty is losing his mind at what Jackie just did. To the floor we go & Jackie hits a hard forearm, then suplexes Swinger! Hart takes the ref this time as Jackie tosses Swinger into the railing & throws him inside. Tree of Joey Lawrence by Sullivan, who hits a running knee, then the double stomp for the win. Post match, Jackie jumps in & drops an elbow, but Swinger sells it so well, Jackie misses the second one, so she jumps on top of him & beats him up more.
DDP vs Bunkhouse Buck February 22, 1997 Buck works over the arm, but DDP reverses into a hammerlock as Buck falls into the ropes. He grabs a handful of Page’s hair, but Page answers with a knee to the rib & side headlock. Buck shoots him off, Page with a shoulder, then does his discus clothesline. Buck tries a roll up, but Page holds the top rope, super kicks the ribs & hits a Diamond Cutter for a quick victory.

Scattered thoughts. Here we go:
- I hate everything about Jeff Jarrett's 96-97 WCW run.
- Prince Iaukea was a disgrace to wrestling. Biggest insult was having this asswipe beat Regal for the TV Title in '97.
- I loved Bunkhouse Buck. He was such a staple of my favorite era of WCW (1994-96).
- You can add High Voltage to the list of awful wrestlers whom I wanted to see become stars.
- Jerry Flynn and his mullet could both fuck off. And for some reason this worthless POS got a fairly big push in 2000 after the Radicalz left. I mean, he was all over Nitro in early 2000.
- Super Calo? More please! Loved that guy.
- Joe Gomez and Renegade vs. Bobby Walker and Jim Powers...if they were wrestling in my backyard I'd close the blinds.
- I liked the Kevin Sullivan/Jacqueline pairing. Once Sully retired, they put her with Harlem Heat (because she's black) but that combination just didn't work.
- Devin Storm was underrated. He was a better wrestler than the Crowbar gimmick allowed him to be.
- Tombstone vs. Roadblock vs. Maxx Muscle in a triple threat match. Who's with me?

The male stripper gimmick during the NWO prime seemed so outdated, even in the mid 90s. He belonged in the WWF with that gimmick.
Prince Iaukea was only a thing to rival Rocky Maivia. Shockingly it didn't work.
Buck fucking ruled. His matches weren't great, but he was a great character. And made it last a lot longer than I thought.
How Super Calo isn't confined to a wheelchair at this point in his life is beyond me. Every fucking match, he did that somersault senton to the concrete. And all on lower level shows. He was fucking great.
Sherri was such a better fit with Stevie & Booker than Jackie was. I was sad when Sherri just left. Always been a huge fan.

WCW Saturday Night (March 1997)
La Parka vs Mark Starr March 1, 1997 Pretty intense lock up & break in the corner as Starr hits a chop that sends Parka doing a flip. He tries again, but Parka does a weird little flip deal & goes flying outside, so Starr hits a dive. Parka gets a boot in the corner & levels Starr with a clothesline & wheel kick to the floor. Spinning suicide dive by Parka wipes out Starr as he tosses him back inside, goes up top & nails a spinning cross body for the 3 count. Sloppy is a massive understatement.
Chris Jericho vs Bunkhouse Buck March 1, 1997 Jericho hits the ropes early & Buck boots him right in the face as he drives a knee into the back for a submission, then switches to a sleeper. Jericho fights up, but runs right into a lariat as Buck caught him right in the face with it. He goes back to the knee in the back hold before trying a piledriver, which Jericho backdrops out of. Atomic drop & corner clothesline by Jericho, who gets sent to the apron & knocks the camera man down in the process. He hits a top rope missile dropkick for the victory as this was a pretty boring match. 3 rest holds by Buck.
Hugh Morrus vs Top Gun March 1, 1997 Apparently Top Gun is a masked Fidel Sierra, which I have zero idea why. Anyways, he gets clubbed in the face by Morrus, who slaps on a rest hold in the opening minute. Top Gun wiggles free & works the arm, but Morrus no sells & clotheslines him down. Top Gun starts throwing punches and Hugh Morrus just laughs in his face, which is fitting as he boots him to the mat. Another rest hold by Morrus as Top Gun gets free & lariats Morrus down. Corner splash & powerslam by the Laughing Man, who goes up top & hits the No Laughing Matter moonsault for the 3.
Juventud Guerrera vs Ray Mendoza Jr. March 1, 1997 Mendoza is Villano IV, only unmasked, which is super strange as we’ve seen Villano IV already on TV. Whatever, he works an arm bar, but Juvi dropkicks him to the floor, then hits a slingshot legdrop to the outside & it almost looked like when Juvi took off, he had zero idea where Mendoza even was, so he just winged it. Back inside, Juvi gets a 2 count as Mendoza hits an arm drag & back breaker, as Juvi charges & posts himself, allowing Mendoza to hit a tope suicida. Back inside, they trade waist locks & Juvi gets a roll up, but they fall into the ropes. How referee Mark Curtis ended up on the ring apron is beyond me, but Juvi hits a corner hurricanrana for the 3 count.
Eddie Guerrero vs Laser Tron March 1, 1997 Laser Tron is masked Hector Guerrero, so this should be pretty good stuff. They trade waist locks as Eddie works an arm bar & Hector kips up, taking down Eddie with an arm drag. They sort of repeat the spot, but Eddie picks the ankle & takes Hector down. Criss cross spot as Eddie hits a tilt a whirl back breaker. He tries another one, but Hector gets a head scissors, but Eddie answers with one of his own, sending Hector outside. Hector is pissed, so gets inside & rakes the eyes, with a big back drop. Back suplex gets Hector 2, but Eddie gets a sunset flip for 2. Massive powerbomb by Hector gets 2 as he flattens Eddie with an uppercut, goes to the top & Eddie cuts him off. Top rope hurricanrana as Eddie goes up top, Frog Splash for the 3 count. I dug this match a lot & gee, I wonder why? It’s like these two were related or something.
Roadblock vs Larry Santo March 8, 1997 Damn right, Roadblock squash match bay-bay! He levels Santo with a clothesline immediately & a big time splash in the corner as he no sells any punch or kick that Santo throws. Hard chops by Roadblock who hangs up Santo throat first on the top. Choke hold launches Santo down as Roadblock is murdering this dude. Huge stalling slam by Roadblock gets the 3 count as I wanted this to go on forever!
Ice Train (w/Teddy Long) vs Sgt. Buddy Lee Parker March 8, 1997 Parker attacks at the bell as Train gets high on a leap frog & standing splashes Parker, then nails a running splash in the corner. He wants another, but Parker gets a boot up & a few clotheslines to finally put Train down. Long rest hold before Parker fails on a bodyslam, so they trade forearms as Train presses Parker high in the air, slamming him to the mat. Train starts Choo-Chooing before hitting the jumping splash for the win.
Prince Iaukea vs Super Calo – Television Title March 8, 1997 Fast start from Calo, who isn’t fucking around in his one as he takes Prince down quickly & slaps on a bow and arrow. Prince spins out into a 2 count, but Calo gets a boot in the corner & his head scissors. Standing dropkick sends Iaukea outside & Tope Con Hilo connects for Calo. Dropkick & Murder Senton connects as well, but Calo does too many flashy flips inside & eats a back elbow and top rope Vader Splash by Iaukea. Calo bails outside & the TV Champ hits a springboard cross body as he goes back inside & levels Calo with a lariat. He misses another one, Calo tries a crucifix, but Prince slams him down, goes up top, high cross body for the 3 count & title defense.
Glacier vs Mr. JL March 8, 1997 The good ol’ 2 minute Glacier entrance appears on Saturday Night as he Judo flips JL down, but JL hits a spin kick to the chest & dropkick to the face in the corner. JL tries another spin kick, but Glacier catches & slams him down. Snap suplex by Glacier as Mortis & Vandenberg are shown at the entrance. Gut buster & Cryonic Kick seals the deal for Glacier & luckily this only goes about 90 seconds.
DDP vs Billy Kidman March 8, 1997 DDP slaps Kidman in the face, which Kidman retaliates with one of his own as DDP works the arm & pops Kidman in the face with a forearm. Pumphandle back breaker as Page already signals for the end, but Kidman gets a tilt a whirl head scissors. DDP up first & tries for another pumphandle, but Kidman tries a Tornado Bulldog, but DDP tosses him down. Fireman’s Carry swinging Diamond Cutter does it as Page puts Kidman away quick.
Lex Luger vs Maxx Muscle March 8, 1997 They trade shoulder blocks, with neither man budging. Luger actually hits a cross body, then transitions to a hammerlock, working an arm bar, but Maxx reverses it. Prolonged headlock/hammerlock back & forth, which is pretty bad as Luger is selling everything like he’s been hit by a truck. Clothesline damn near decapitates Luger (or so you’d think) as he hits a powerslam on a charging Maxx, then slaps on the Torture Rack & gets the win. This match sucked.
High Voltage vs Billy Kidman & Chavo Guerrero Jr. March 15, 1997 Voltage sneak attacks, but poses, allowing the cruiserweights to dropkick them to the floor & wipe out Rage and Kaos with dueling dives. They isolate Rage & hit a double back elbow as Chavo pops up Kidman for a splash & a 2 count. Rage quickly tags Kaos, who is arm dragged down, only for the big man to drive Kidman down with a suplex for 2. Drop toe hold/elbow drop combo as Kidman is stuck in no man’s land, trying to fight out. He slaps on a sleeper on Rage, releases it to get the hot tag as Chavo dishes out dropkicks & backdrops as the match breaks down. Kidman sent outside as Rage & Kaos hit a springboard Demolition Decapitation for the 3 count.
Chris Jericho vs Mark Starr March 15, 1997 Starr picks the ankle & Jericho gets a rope break in the opening seconds. Front face lock by Starr as he backs Jericho to the corner & Jericho actually clobbers him with a forearm, cheap shot. Jumping spin kick gets a 2 count for Y2J, who keeps kicking Starr down and Jericho sort of goes for an Unprettier, but turns it into a fucking Stunner! It’s just another move as Starr hits a corner clothesline to regain control, gets a small package for 2, tries a suplex, but Jericho floats over & hits a Lionsault. Missile dropkick connects & that’s it. Strange match.
Dean Malenko vs Bobby Eaton March 15, 1997 Eaton gets a wrist lock, but Malenko backs him into the corner & is simply relentless on his attack. Chokes & boots by the Iceman as Eaton cuts him off with some hard right hands, as Malenko answers with a leg lariat. Super stiff forearm sends Eaton the floor as Malenko waits for him to get back in before snap maring Eaton down for 2. He chokes Eaton and the ref counts to 5 with the choke still applied, so THE REF DQ’S MALENKO!! Mickey Jay wasn’t having that shit as Malenko is pissed, so he goes back to choking Eaton to end the segment. Pretty crazy finish if you think about it, matches don’t have that finish all that often.
Prince Iaukea vs Juventud Guerrera – Television Title March 15, 1997 Prince gets a powerslam early & cross body that sends both men over the top as Iaukea pops up on the apron. He goes to dive, but Juvi hits a dropkick in mid air. They battle back to the apron, chopping & punching as Juvi tries for & ultimately gets a spinning sunset powerbomb to the floor! Back inside, Juvi hits a springboard rana, but Prince hangs out & rolls him up for the super quick 3 count and title defense.
Roadblock vs Rick Fuller March 15, 1997 Test of strength to start thankfully as Roadblock lets go & hits a release overhead belly to belly! He misses a follow elbow as Fuller misses a splash & tumbles outside as Roadblock goes out to post him. Back inside, Roadblock goes to the second rope & misses a big splash as Fuller throws his spin kick for a 2 count. Block cuts him off & hits a FUCKING SOMERSAULT SENTON 1…2…NO!! Diving clothesline by Block, who connects with The Detour Drop for the 3 count. I highly suggest checking this one out as it’s just husky dudes beating the shit out of each other.
Jeff Jarrett vs Mr. JL March 15, 1997 Jarrett ducks an early enzugiri & puts the boots to JL as he chokes him in the ropes. Tilt a whirl head scissors by the masked man, who hits a corner step up kick, but lands on his head while charging for a corner senton. Nice swinging neckbreaker by Jarrett, who Fargo Struts around a bit before hitting a slingshot suplex, but he pops JL up & eats a dropkick and high cross off the top. JL goes up for another one, but Jarrett cuts him off with a superplex. Double J slaps on the Figure Four and JL quickly submits.
Hugh Morrus vs Villano IV March 15, 1997 Villano rolls out of an arm bar & gets one of his own, but Morrus scurries to grab a rope. Pretty impressive Northern Lights by the luchador on the big man as Morrus quickly gets up & levels Villano with a few clotheslines. Villano pops up & hits a spin kick to the ribs and DDT’s Morrus down before slapping on a chin lock. The Laughing Man escapes that with ease & flapjacks Villano down, then tries again, but Villano hits a hurricanrana & a super sloppy wheelbarrow arm drag that ends in both men just falling into the ropes. Morrus gets up quick & powerbombs Villano, then hits the No Laughing Matter for the 3. They were a little too ambitious trying some of the lucha moves with a guy as big as Morrus, but I applaud the effort.
Johnny Swinger vs Rick Fuller March 22, 1997 Credit to Swinger, he started fast with punches in bunches & a dropkick, but he posed too long & got demolished by a lariat. Fuller powerslams Swinger into the corner & brings him out with a shoulder breaker before going to the second & hits a 320 pound leg drop for 2. Swinger ducks a clothesline, but the big man Fuller hits a wheel kick that’d make Sean Waltman proud for the quick 3.
The Renegade vs Scotty Riggs March 22, 1997 Hip toss & a dropkick by Riggs starts as he sinks in an arm drag and arm bar. High cross body gets a 1 count as Renegade slams the American Male to the mat. Springboard handspring elbow in the corner by Renegade gets a 2 count as I’m pretty sure that was Renegade’s finish. He opts for a snap powerslam & gets another 2 as that was the standard enhancement talents finisher, so he can’t believe it. Small package gets Riggs 2, but Renegade pops up for a lariat & gets his third near fall. He lowers his head & Riggs slams him down, making his comeback, picture perfect dropkick. Renegade gets a boot to the face in the corner, stacks Riggs up with his feet on the ropes, but the ref catches him at 2. Renegade thinks he’s won, but ref tells him he got caught, so he clotheslines Riggs down. They repeat the spot, this time with Riggs getting his feet on the ropes & a roll up win.
The Giant vs Roadblock March 22, 1997 Roadblock attacks right at the bell with corner shots as he charges & eats a Giant big boot. The Giant climbs to the top (you heard me) & HITS A MISSILE DROPKICK!! Holy shit that was amazing as the crowd explodes & Giant hits the Choke Slam for the quick & hella impressive win.
Greg Valentine vs Billy Kidman March 29, 1997 Talk about a styles clash here as the Hammer just beats Kidman to the corner with clubbing shots & chops. He slowly approaches with a double axe, but Kidman hits dropkicks, lowers his head & gets dropped with a Hammer gut buster. More chops by Valentine as Kidman tries fighting back with an Irish whip, but Hammer hits an elbow to the head & wind up elbow drop for the 3 count. That was just weird to watch, of course it ended with an elbow drop.
The Steiner Brothers vs Bunkhouse Buck & Mike Enos March 29, 1997 Enos & Scott scuffle to start as Steiner hip tossing the former Beverly down. Huge T-Bone suplex as Scott grabs a front face lock, but hits the ropes & Buck clocks him in the head, allowing Enos to take Scott down. Tag to Buck, who puts the boots to Big Poppa Pump, choking away as Enos gets in a shot too. Atomic drop on Buck as Scott hits a huge belly to belly as he tags in Rick, who gets a Steiner-Line and an arm bar before tagging back in Scott. He knocks Enos to the floor & they hit the Steiner Bulldog off the top for the quick win.
Chris Jericho vs Super Calo March 29, 1997 Jericho with a spinning heel kick kicks us off as he eats a Calo boot from the corner & Calo hits a super sloppy head scissors that drops Jericho on his dome.Y2J pops up and murders Calo with a lariat for the receipt. Suplex & back breaker to follow as Jericho keeps him on his knee, pushing away. Calo sends Jericho outside, hits his short dropkick & wild slingshot senton dive that scares the living shit out of me every time I see it (yes, I’ve said those exact words before). Back inside, Jericho hits a Superkick for 2, tries a German, but Calo picks the ankle & gets a Northern Lights for a near fall. To the top Calo goes, only to get crotched as Jericho hits his avalanche super hurricanrana (the one he almost killed himself with against Gedo at the 97 Halloween Havoc) for the win.
Ultimo Dragon (w/Sonny Onoo) vs Galaxy March 29, 1997 Galaxy was a masked Damien, you learn something new every day, eh folks? He hits a shoulder block out the gate & nails a springboard dropkick off the second, tries a monkey flip, which Dragon lands on his feet from. He does his float over & lights up Galaxy with kicks repeatedly. Sonny Bono applauds as Dragon wrenches away at the face…of a masked man, tossing him outside, so Sonny can get some kicks in. He tosses Galaxy back inside, where Dragon hits a hurricanrana pin for 2. Galaxy hits a quick sunset flip for 2 of his own, but misses a corner splash & Dragon nails his corner spinning rana, then bridging Dragon Suplex for the 3 count.
Kevin Sullivan (w/Jacqueline & Jimmy Hart) vs Johnny Swinger March 29, 1997 Rematch from last month as Sullivan gets a headbutt & some right hands before finally sending Swinger out to get beat up by Jackie. She snap mares Swinger down & that’s it this time, so Sullivan tosses him back out & Jackie suplexes him. Tree of Joey Lawrence back inside & the double stomp get Sullivan the 3 count as this was a carbon copy of their match last month.
DDP vs Maxx March 29, 1997 Page takes on his former heater just a year & change earlier as he slams Maxx down early & taunts him a bit. They lock up into the corner & DDP knees Maxx, dishing out back elbows, showing a lot of aggression, but Maxx gets a cheap shot & slams Page down. He keeps choking him & getting scolded by Mickey Jay as DDP starts hitting some jabs & drops the big man, setting up for the finish as DDP gets a boot up in the corner, spins Maxx around & hits the Diamond Cutter for the quick 3.
