Some Giant gems & stinkers from Japan
Andre the Giant vs Stan Hansen May 18, 1979 They take turns with the clubbing blows to the chest as they both smirk at each other before Andre locks on sort of an arm triangle, but Hansen fights free, only to crumble due to a headbutt. Hansen fights back with shots to the ribs, but it only wakes Andre up, who sends him outside with another headbutt. Hansen regroups and grabs a bearhug as Freddie Blassie jabs at Andre with his cane to distract him, but the big man fights free of the hold. He drives Hansen’s face down on his knee & suffocates him in the corner. Slugfest ensues, but Andre goes outside after Blassie & Hansen is soon out after him. Hansen keeps punching Andre to the point where the Giant bleeds and it’s nothing but a slugfest from here on out as it spills into the crowd. Both men grab chairs and start swinging as Hansen & Blassie bail with Hansen chucking chairs at Andre as we have a double countout. They fight deep into the crowd and to the backstage area to the point where all you can see is Andre’s afro and the crowd quickly scatter as he heads back to the ringside area.
Andre the Giant vs Stan Hansen June 5, 1980 This match starts sort of abruptly as Andre just finished beating Seiji Sakaguchi as they start this match with dudes still in the ring. Andre traps Hansen in the corner with his ass & hits his hip attacks before drilling Hansen with a big boot off the ropes and does what I can only describe as a Honma-esque Kokeshi headbutt! Hansen rebounded and leveled the Giant with a Lariat that crumbled the big man. Boots to the noggin have Andre on dream street as he just shoots a double leg, lifts Hansen up and they both tumble over the top to the floor where they brawl before Hulk Hogan hits ringside and attacks Andre. They brawl to the point where the ref counts Andre out and Hansen bails with Hogan into the crowd, who scatter. Andre threatens the ref for being a moron and counting him out instead of DQ’ing Hansen. This was wild on so many levels.
Andre the Giant vs Stan Hansen September 23, 1981 Hansen attacks immediately, but charges in the corner and eats a big boot. Andre slaps on the bearhug and he’s in for a while before Andre changes to an arm bar. Andre headbutts Hansen so hard he clutches his own head and just falls down into an arm bar on the mat. Andre looks out to the crowd & Hansen tries fighting back, but Andre just zones in again on the arm. Smart move to take away the Lariat. Andre misses a splash in the corner, but regains control with a kimura. Hansen starts punching at the leg of Andre with his free arm, but Andre hits a vertical suplex. He targets the kidneys with punches, tries a back drop, but Hansen puts the brakes on and BODYSLAMS ANDRE!! He misses a follow up elbow drop, but gets the Camel Clutch and is in that for a bit before Andre gets the ropes. We get a brawl on the floor and the referee counts both men out. Arnold Skaaland is there and talking with the ref along with Andre & Hansen and they’ve decided to restart this match.
Hansen bolts at Andre and judo flips him so hard that the ref bumps! He ties Andre up in the ropes and the crowd is going nuts, but he takes too long and Andre gets free, clubbing Hansen so hard he falls to a knee. Headbutts by Andre as he unties the top of a corner pad, tries to slam Hansen into it, but the brakes are put on and Andre is sent face first into the exposed corner. Hansen tries an elbow drop, but Andre catches it and gets a hammerlock, then starts headbutting Hansen in the back before bodyslamming him down. Andre misses a splash, Hansen misses an elbow, Andre misses a big boot and Hansen hits the LARIAT so hard Andre tumbles to the floor! We see Arnold handing Andre something and it’s an elbow pad to put on. The ref tries to take it off and gets launched and hit with a lariat!! Andre & Hansen keep brawling as the ring attendants help out the ref and another one jumps in to officially DQ Andre the Giant. It becomes chaos as both Hansen & Andre beat up young lions leading to the pull apart. I loved this match, it was a fun brawl. The best of the 3 available matches on NJPW World of Andre & Hansen.
Andre the Giant vs Riki Choshu June 1, 1984 Before the match even starts, Andre fakes going at the crowd and they scramble quick. He just grabs Choshu & headbutts him down right out the gate as he does his vintage rest on his opponent with his ass in the corner deal. It’s just Andre choking away until he lowers his head for a back drop, but Choshu puts on the brakes and BODYSLAMS THE GIANT! Andre quickly grabs a bearhug to cut off any momentum Choshu had. He has it applied for like 4 minutes it seems, which is a pretty long time, before he lets it go and hits a back body drop. Andre tries the lamest falling headbutt, but misses and Choshu starts chopping away, but the giant rises, reverses a corner whip & hits a big boot off the ropes and sits all his weight down on Choshu’s chest Earthquake style for the 3 count. This, this wasn’t good. The bodyslam ruled though.
11 Man Battle Royal Andre the Giant, Adrian Adonis, Antonio Inoki, Dick Murdoch, Gerry Morrow, Kengo Kimura, Kerry Brown, Seiji Sakaguchi, Tatsumi Fujinami, Tiger Toguchi & Wild Samoan December 6, 1984 A young Headshrinker Samu is the Wild Samoan just FYE. Everyone really just pairs off and is hugging each other mostly with Andre just chopping the occasional dude until Gerry Morrow is dumped by a few guys about a minute into this. Adonis low bridges Kerry Brown and dumps him. Andre with ease, throws Sakaguchi over the top. Samu is dumped by Fujinami and makes the funniest face into camera after. I have no idea who it was, but a dude in a mask and his manager hit the ring and talk shit to Antonio Inoki, who jumps over the top, eliminating himself, to chuck a chair at them as they scattered backstage. Inoki is confused as to why he’s eliminated, but the fact is, he’s a dumb dumb. We don’t see how, but Tiger Toguchi is eliminated as well. Inoki is just watching ringside and doesn’t have to go backstage apparently. This leaves Kimura, Fujinami, Adonis, Murdoch & Andre. The big man goes after Fujinami while the North South Connection target Kimura. Murdoch leaves his partner and goes after Andre, but as this happens, Adonis & Tiger tumble out together leaving 3. Murdoch almost sends Andre out with a big elbow, low bridges Fujinami to eliminate him, but poses allowing Andre to hit an atomic drop sending Captain Redneck to the floor. Andre wins a pretty shitty battle royal, but the entrants were pretty interesting & fun to see.
Andre the Giant vs Super Strong Machine May 31, 1985 The amount of stalling that happens to start is insane. Machine uses his speed to make Andre look foolish clawing at him to the point where he almost loses his balance. Andre’s manager, KY Wakamatsu, finally starts choking Machine with a rope and Andre takes control with a choke before Antonio Inoki wipes out Wakamatsu with a kick and Andre attacks Inoki. I guess it’s a bull rope or a whip, whatever it is, Andre chokes out Inoki with it and this match is officially a No Contest and one of the worst Andre matches I’ve ever seen in my life. What a colossal waste of time for everyone involved.
Andre the Giant, Angelo Mosca & Steve Collins vs Kevin Sullivan, King Kong Bundy & Mark Lewin NWA Polynesian Hot Summer Night August 3, 1985 This shot has nothing to do with this match, I just thought Andre doing a Stump Puller was rad. 24,000 fans have packed Aloha Stadium for a show that had Ric Flair vs Sivi Afi end in a 26 minute DQ and Antonio Inoki vs Bruiser Brody ended in a double count out. Anyways, The Taskmaster and Collins start off with Sullivan hitting one backdrop before tagging Lewin. The heels absolutely destroy Collins on the floor, crotching him on the railing. Back inside, Collins hits a sunset flip for 2, then tags Mosca, who is a house of fire before Bundy tags in and we have a slugfest on our hands. Mosca won’t let up, tries for a bodyslam, but Lewin attacks from behind allowing Bundy to take over. Finally Andre tags in and he sends Bundy flying into his corner and Andre starts swinging at all the heels. He doesn’t care that he’s in the heels corner, he’s trapped all of them in the corner as Mosca & Collins use Andre’s ass as a battering ram (that’s a sentence) as it’s starting to pour rain. Andre hits a huge chop on Sullivan, hits a big boot, but Sullivan grabs a huge Ziploc baggie out of his trunks (it’s comical how big this bag was) and he throws powder into the face of Andre & Collins as the referee DQs the heels and we just get a big brawl. This was garbage. Andre sent the heels packing, but man, this sucked. Hey, the fans got to see Andre though.

Nyla Rose vs Tay Conti Taz & Excalibur on commentary for this one as Nyla (without Vickie) uses her power early, but Tay won’t back down. Tay tries a sleeper, but gets rag dolled down & Nyla does a snapmare. She gives Tay a free shot, so she promptly gets kicked a few times before Nyla MURDERS Taynara with a dragon screw. She’s zoning in on the leg of the Judo master, then hits a standing splash for 2. It’s weird seeing the huge Nyla working the leg over of her opponent. Tay gets a kneebar with her good leg, but gets punted in the face to get Nyla free. I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out the delightful camera angles of Taynara we’re getting, haha. Tay hits a hurricanrana counter to a powerbomb for 2, but let’s Nyla up & gets popped with a lariat. Taynara hits a V-Trigger with the good leg & some Judo throws before Tay hits a pump kick, then a violent hammerlock DDT for 2. Chop battle ensues, but Tay gets a Dragon Sleeper, as we get a clunky spot where Nyla pulled off the turnbuckle pad & they both just fall down. Nyla tries Snake Eyes into the exposed corner, but Aubrey Edwards stops her to put the buckle pad back on. During this, Taynara rolls up Nyla for a visible 3 count, but when Aubrey turns around, she gets a 2. Nyla launches Tay over the top to the ramp, hits a DVD out there, throws Tay back in 1…2…NO! Beast Bomb by Nyla for the 3. The turnbuckle spot was really dumb & sloppy, but this was an ok match otherwise. I can’t tell you how much Tay Conti continues to improve. She’s amazing.
“The Magical Girl” Yuka Sakazaki vs Emi Sakura We go back to Japan as Taz points out on commentary that Tommy, the referee for the Japan matches, is in no relation to Tommy Young, which I popped for. Mongolian Chops in the corner from Sakura to start as I guess if Tenzan can’t use them anymore, she can. Yuka fights back with a dropkick sending Sakura to the outside & Yuka with a somersault senton! Back inside, Sakura fights back & targets the back, singing to the “packed house” of her two 2 women as she does a rolling bow & arrow. Yuka fights back with a backdrop counter and step up corner kick as she hits a diving back elbow, then drops Sakura on her head with an exploder, which just makes Excalibur & Taz giggle at how stiff it was. Leg lock applied by Yuka, as Sakura gets the ropes & Yuka does the tight rope walk dropkick for 2. Yuka tries a spinning hammerlock, but Sakura counters into a Dragon Sleeper, then does a Cross Rhodes variation. We Will Rock You chants from her corner as Sakura does the Vader Bomb for a close 2. Yuka again fights back with a seated senton off the top, step up rana for 2. Nice Flatliner by Yuka, tries for the finish, but Sakura cuts her off with a spinning DDT, then a twisting Vader Bomb 1…2…NO! Yuka fights back with a spinning hammerlock facebuster, but runs right into a tilt a whirl back breaker by Sakura for the double down. Yuka misses a sliding D, Sakura nails a chop counter, then does La Magistral, Yuka rolls through, but into a Dragon Sleeper. She gets the ropes, as Sakura hits a Storm Breaker variation 1…2…foot on the rope! Sakura tries Angels Wings, but Yuka avoids it, hits the Sliding D, rolls up Sakura for the 1…2…3!! Yuka wins! I dug this match quite a bit. Post match, Sakura, Mei Suruga & Yuna Mizumuri all beat down Yuka until HIKARU SHIDA makes the save & chases them off.
Aja Kong vs Ryo Mizunami Taz wants to make Tommy a member of Team Taz, but Excalibur points out he’ll have to leave Team Tommy first. Ryo faced Kong in her second ever match 16 years ago. She tries shoulder blocks, Kong no sells twice, but third time was the charm & she bumps. Kobashi-like chops in the corner that leave Kong looking annoyed as Ryo trying to get the non-crowd into it. She does a mime rope pull thing, turns around & Kong just slaps her in the face. Kong poses & Ryo pops her in the back of the head. Foolishly she tries a bodyslam on Kong, but opts for a kneebar, as Kong gets the ropes. Ryo grabs the leg & Kong paint brushes the fuck out of the poor girl, but Ryo sweeps the leg! Kong is over selling anything with facial expressions this point in her career, as she just stares at Ryo stomping her leg. She gets up & does collapse from the bad leg, then hits an uppercut slap outside, slamming Ryo face first into the ring bell & posts her. Kong throws her back inside, grabs the trash can she brought to the ring with her as Tommy gets it away from her and just lets him take it (commentary points out how ridiculous that was) before hitting a backdrop driver, then another 1…2…NO! Kong calls for the spinning backfist, but Ryo blocks it, so Kong punts her with her bad leg. Ryo keeps coming back, hits a dragon screw, leg lariat to the neck for 2, then gets a head/arm triangle on Kong, Tommy drops the arm twice, but Kong hulks up & gets the ropes. Ryo forearms have no effect, headbutt to the jaw & lariats rock Kong, she goes for the homerun shot, but they just start hitting lariats with neither going down. Kong gets the better of it, falls on top of Ryo for 2. Spear by Ryo, who goes up top, hits the guillotine legdrop 1…2…NO! She drags Kong up, but gets hit with the spinning backfist as Kong herself collapses as well. She crawls over & gets a 2 count as we go to the floor again for some reason (I have a feeling I know why). She drags Ryo up to the commentary table where Shida is, tosses the trash can to her & slams Ryo into it as Shida looks confused. Kong starts walking back to the ring for the countout and RYO NO SELLS THE TRASH CAN SHOT, sprints into the ring & drops a leg onto Kong on the apron at the count of 9 and KONG GETS COUNTED OUT!?!?!? Words can’t describe how much I hated the end of this match. It had a few good moments, but this was the worst match of the tournament so far. HATED that finish. It’s Ryo vs Yuka in the Japan finals.
Britt Baker (w/Reba) vs Madi Wrenkowski Britt jumps Madi during her entrance & nails a spinning fisherman’s suplex on the ramp. She’s demolishing Madi on the outside as the match hasn’t even started yet. Reba tries getting in some shots, laughs at the camera, but Madi throws some awful looking forearms at her, then takes out Britt as Reba’s acting is really terrible. Anyways, the bell rings as they’re inside the ring. Britt fights back with sling blade and just picks Madi apart. Britt tries a snap suplex, but Madi tries for a small package at the same time, but gets sort of DDT’d in the process in an ugly looking spot. They try to repeat the spot and fuck it up AGAIN, tries a THIRD time, but Madi hits an X-Factor, then a cross body in the corner. She flips over the ropes to just hit a standard snap mare for 2. Madi tries a monkey flip, we get a bad camera cut & Britt hits a Flatliner into the corner. Madi spins out a suplex attempt, chops free, goes up top, but misses a diving cross body. Britt hits an Air Raid Crash for 2, grabs the glove from Reba, superkicks the fuck out of Madi right in the face, then gets the Lockjaw for the submission win. This. Match. SUCKED. Welp, the Kong/Ryo match isn’t the worst first round match anymore. This was super sloppy & pretty terrible. After the match, Reba & Britt put Thunder Rosa’s makeup on Madi as they beat her down while no one helps Madi. Pretty bad way to end the show honestly.

Japanese Women's Wrestling Block This is mainly matches with Asuka, Hikaru Shida, Riho, Yuka Sakazaki & my girl Maki Itoh, with some other familiar faces along the way.
Minoru Suzuki & Meiko Satomura vs Naomichi Marufuji & Kana (Asuka) June 16, 2014 Ok, this match is noteworthy for the end of the match, which is pretty unsettling, so just stick through this if you can. Apparently Asuka asked Suzuki to be this stiff with her, so know that. The ladies start until Asuka slaps the shit out of Suzuki on the apron, as he tags in, kicks her down to the mat, but before she can do anything, Marufuji tags in and we get ground work with the two before it’s Meiko & Marufuji who do some solid back & forth wrestling. Asuka tags in & she unleashes stiff kicks to the corner on Meiko before she hits a snap suplex on Asuka & the match spills outside where Suzuki boots at Asuka & slams her head violently into the apron before he SPITS & SLAPS HER throwing her into the ring where Meiko wears her down with submissions. Mid submission, Suzuki tries to grab a leg submission in the ropes & gets reprimanded, allowing Meiko to clobber Marufuji on the opposite side. Suzuki & Meiko take turns working Asuka’s arm and Suzuki also FOREARMS THE SHIT OUT OF ASUKA. She tries to fight back, but even Marufuji looks uncomfortable at how brutal Suzuki is being, but Asuka won’t quit. She tries fighting back, but Suzuki chops her down hard, then Meiko in to punt away. Suzuki tries a cheap shot on Marufuji, but he jumps in & hits a hook kick right to the face, tags in officially and nails brutal chops on Suzuki. Misdirect by Suzuki, who slaps on the rear naked choke, Meiko tags in & she lights Marufuji up with kicks as he tries throwing a series of strikes, which Meiko avoids all of them! Asuka tags in with a snap German for 2, Shining Wizard for 2 as the heels turn the tides with dueling rear naked chokes! The babyfaces get free as Asuka with a rolling arm breaker applied, but Suzuki breaks it up, tagging in. Asuka tries a rolling leg lock, but Suzuki just stands there, so she gets up & hits a BRUTAL SLAP, tries a backslide, but zero effect.
THIS is when the match takes a turn, as Suzuki grabs a reverse waistlock and Asuka mule kicks him low & he crumbles. Asuka punts him in the head repeatedly, SPITS at him, face rake with her boot, pulls his hair, headbutts over again before Suzuki rises and HEADBUTTS ASUKA SO HARD YOU CAN HEAR THE CLUNK. He knocks Asuka down and PAINT BRUSH SLAPS HER OVER & OVER, then starts the forearms, 16 TIMES before the ref steps in, but gets launched down. Marufuji is just standing on the apron watching as Suzuki keeps slapping away at her, then finally jumps in, but gets sent to the floor quickly as Suzuki punts Asuka in the head. Meiko steps in and tries to stop her partner from the beating, but he THROWS MEIKO TO THE FLOOR, as Suzuki mounts Asuka and keeps slapping her, which echoes through the arena. ASUKA GETS TO HER FUCKING FEET and starts slapping & throwing shots at Suzuki, who is absorbing them all before shooting a leg takedown & heel hook. Again, Asuka WILL NOT QUIT as she gets the ropes, clutching her ankle. Meiko & Marufuji I guess are fighting outside, but who knows why? Asuka shoves the ref down, goes after Suzuki again, but he slaps on the Rear Naked Choke, then hits the Gotch Piledriver on her for the 3 count. This match was fucking insane.
If anything else, this match is super uncomfortable at the end, but makes you truly appreciate the heart & courage that Asuka has. You can’t help but respect the hell out of her. If you don’t like man vs woman matches, this won’t be for you, but fuckin hell, this was brutal, but Asuka wouldn’t give up.
Kenny Omega & Kana (Asuka) vs Masato Tanaka & Hikaru Shida August 28, 2014 What a mixed tag here! The ladies trade hip attacks to start before tagging in the fellas. Insanely fast paced set with back & forth by both before we stalemate out and they tag the women, or so we think, as Kenny stays in & stomps a mud hole in Shida in the corner. Step up rana by Shida, then a hip attack as Kenny tags Asuka and we get a shove exchange before they trade hip attacks & snap mares. Everyone starts throwing hip attacks until Tanaka & Shida do stereo butt bumps on the domes of Asuka & Omega. They all brawl into the crowd before Tanaka WEDGIES Omega & slaps his ass (not kidding). Kenny turns the tables and does the same thing. He chokes out Tanaka with a chair as back inside; Asuka does the Stink Face on Shida (a sentence that should delight quite a few board members). Kenny in & he keeps wearing down Shida before he SLAPS SHIDA’S ASS! They take turns isolating Shida before Kenny PULLS HIS PANTS DOWN & sits up in the corner, wanting Asuka to send Shida face first into his ass (no other way to write that), but Shida turns the tables and ASUKA RUNS FACE FIRST INTO OMEGA’S ASS! Asuka is dry heaving, as she runs into a Shida backbreaker and finally gets the hot tag to Tanaka, who murders Asuka with corner lariats, then does the same to Kenny. DDT on Asuka/Stunner on Kenny combo as he sends Omega to the floor. Asuka tries a triangle choke, but Tanaka powerbombs free. Forearm battle commences between Asuka & Tanaka until the ECW legend nails a Roaring Elbow, goes for another, but Asuka hits a high kick & Tanaka crumbles. They trade reversals until Asuka gets the Black Widow, as Shida breaks it up. Kenny with a high cross off the top for 2 as he wipes out Shida on the apron. Forearm battle with the men leads to a Snap Dragon by Kenny, but Tanaka fights back & tags Shida, who tries a running knee, but Kenny slams her into the corner with brutal chops. Shida hits a suplex on Kenny for 1 as Tanaka sends him in & she hits a snap powerslam for 2. Shida misses a sliding knee, Tanaka hits a Sliding D, Shida with the sliding knee 1…2…NO! Asuka broke it up as Kenny gets poked into the eye & small packaged 1…2…NO! Kenny yells STOP, then hits an enzugiri on Shida as they ladies trade kick attempts & counters before Shida nails a Fisherman’s Suplex and Stretch Muffler, but Asuka counters into an arm breaker. Kenny grabs a kendo stick & whacks Shida in the arm with it outside, as Asuka signals for a running hip attack off the apron, but SHIDA CANES HER IN THE ASS! Kenny wipes out Shida with a baseball slide, then ranas Tanaka to the floor. Kenny teases his Terminator Dive, but Shida smacks him in the face with the kendo stick! Shida off the top with a cross body to the floor! SUPERPLEX BY SHIDA ON ASUKA as Tanaka hits a Frog Splash on her! Running knee to the face 1…2…NO! Shida does the deal with a Falcon Arrow, but Asuka quickly slaps on a cross arm breaker. Tanaka breaks it up, but gets sent outside as Shida nails a running hip attack on Shida for 2. Kenny with the leg trap Falcon Arrow, Asuka with a KO Kick, they both cover her 1…2…Tanaka breaks it up! Asuka with a German for 2, then slaps on the Asuka Lock and Shida taps out! This match was insane and with the exception of the bare ass spot, was fun!
Hikaru Shida vs Mei Suruga July 28, 2018 GATOH Pro Wrestling Mei is also in the AEW Women’s Title Tournament, so I wanted to get familiar with her and here she is wrestling Shida. Mei is barely as tall as the top rope. Bell sounds and Shida tosses Mei down, but she pops right up and just jumps into Shida’s face. Shida tries a brainbuster, but gets reversed into a sunset flip for 2. Mei holds the hand and does a springboard arm drag and jumps around celebrating, but literally jumps into a Shida back breaker. Shida wrenches at a Camel Clutch, knee in the back, but releases and allows Mei to fight back. They are flicking each other on the forehead before Mei finally hits a running dropkick, four of them in fact for a 2 count. Full nelson applied, but Shida reverses easily. Mei stomps the foot and gets the hold again & flips into Cattle Mutilation. She breaks and really works for a bodyslam before going back to the full nelson. Shida backs her into the corner, charges & hits a running knee for 2. Backbreaker gets 2, then Shida sinks in a deep Boston Crab, but Mei gets the ropes. Mei gets a flash pin for 2, then another roll up, she tries a wheelbarrow roll up, but Shida drops down for 2. Mei gets a victory roll for a super close near fall, hits the ropes, but Shida nails a tilt a whirl back breaker for 2. Great series of near falls as Shida hits a brainbuster for the 1…2…3. Fun little match, I think Suruga will do fine in this tournament.
Riho vs An Chamu March 30, 2019 GATOH Pro Wrestling This is fascinating to me, no ring for this one, as this is literally in a square surrounded by people with a few windows with fans in them as well. Riho literally starts the match by shoving Chamu boot first into an older man, haha. Camel clutch then applied (not on the man) as she does a wrist lock, shoots her into the wall, but Chamu springs off the wall with a hip attack. She tries another, but Riho avoids it and boots her in the ass. Small package by Chamu for 2 as Riho really works for & gets the snap mare and body scissors. They trade pin attempts until Chamu hits a leg drop for 2. Riho pops up and slams her into the wall, tries a running cross body, but Chamu gets her knees up. Sunset flip by Riho, but Chamu drops her weight down for 2. Both girls sit on the window and start posing as the crowd Woooo at them. Riho tries a cross body off the window, but misses as Chamu gets 2, then a cross arm breaker, but Riho escapes, picks the legs and gets a single leg crab. She lets it go, does a snap mare, then climbs into the window, leaps for a double stomp, Chamu moves, Riho rolls through & dropkicks her in the ass. Dives for the crossface, but Chamu counters into a roll up, they trade more pin attempts, but Riho gets the rolling pin while posing for the 3. I’ll be honest, I’ve never seen anything like this before, but they made it work.
Riho vs Mei Suruga June 3, 2018 Another match with no ring & surrounded by the crowd. Suruga with a series of forearms out the gate, but they trade armbars & hammerlocks before Mei gets a school girl for 2. They trade snap mares before Mei gets the body scissors, Riho escapes & teases a hair mare into the crowd, but Mei reverses, tries herself, but Riho cartwheels out into a Boston Crab. Mei fights off a bodyslam and does multiple standing crossbody blocks, which look absolutely ridiculous given the location. Bow & arrow applied, but Riho escapes and hits a standing double stomp. She slams Mei into the wall, then hits a jumping knee for 2. Full nelson by Mei, who turns it into a pin attempt for a close 2. Mei hits a jumping headlock takedown, then hits 3 dropkicks for 2. Back to the full nelson, but Riho reverses into a bridging pin for 2. Back to the Boston Crab for Riho as we’re told you can either touch the audience or touch the wall to qualify as a rope break and she grabs someone in the audience for the break. Riho climbs to the window, leaps off and hits the double stomp for 3. I’m fucking fascinated by these matches. I should also point out there’s one American guy in the crowd that sort of looks like Roy from The Office and it’s hilarious to me.
Riho & Kenny Omega vs Masa Takanashi & Kaori Yoneyama February 9, 2013 No ring for this, just surrounded by a crowd and it almost looks like a big sleeping bag they’re wrestling on. Kaori tries a headlock on Kenny, but he no sells & grabs an arm bar. She uses her partner to flip out, tries an arm drag, but Kenny just slams her face first down. They trade leg sweeps, covers, school girl & have a stale mate to the crowds delight. Masa jumps in and rakes the back of Kenny, but The Cleaner hits a DOUBLE bodyslam simultaneously on both opponents before Riho hits a dropkick on Masa & Kenny nails a rana. Masa tries for a nose claw on Kenny, but he ducks & Masa gets it on the ref, who slaps it away, goes to clothesline him, but he ducks & she wipes out Kenny. They trade double suplex attempts until the ref comes over and helps Kenny & Riho suplex their opponents. They ALL take turns doing somersault sentons on Masa, do a TRIPLE headbutt on him for 2. They were going to do a TRIPLE camel clutch on Kaori, but Masa shoves them all down. Muta Lock by Kaori on Kenny, but she lets go & Masa gets a STF. Masa gets a small step stool, but Kenny hits the Crusher down onto it and Riho springs off it with a knee, then does a wild looking single leg crab with a bridge on Masa, while Kenny has Kaori in a backbreaker over his shoulder. Kenny does You Can’t Escape on Masa for 2, leaping back kick leg lariat, tries for One Winged Angel, but Kaori jumps in and hits a rolling German suplex on Omega for 2! Brutal knee to the head by Kaori, who charges, Kenny calls for a timeout & nails an enzugiri on her. He hits a brutal Snap Dragon as Riho pounces on Masa, who throws a pillow at Kenny, allowing Kaori to hit Code Red for 2. Forearm exchange with Kenny & Kaori until Kenny hits a spin kick to her ribs, looks for One Winged Angel, but she spins out, only for Kenny to hit the Bastard Driver, she holds on into a sunset flip 1…2…Riho with a Shining Wizard breaks it up. Hadouken shot by Kenny, who hits One Winged Angel on Kaori as Riho holds back Masa for the 3 count. Everything about this match will make people’s heads explode, but I enjoyed this quite a bit.
GATOH Move Super Asia Championship Riho vs Natsumi Maki November 8, 2018 Super fast start by both with arm drags and leg sweeps before the stalemate. Hairmare by Riho as she stomps Maki mercilessly in the corner before getting the Camel Clutch. Bodyslam by Riho, but Maki bridges out, hits a cross body, cartwheel, series of dropkicks as Riho eats a running dropkick to the face while in the ropes. Riho fights out of a fisherman suplex and hits a 619, then cross body off the top for 2. Cross face applied, but Maki gets out and hits a somersault neckbreaker before going up top. Riho cuts her off and we get a slugfest before Riho hits a super arm drag. She goes up top herself and nails the double foot stomp for 2. She went for the running stomp, but Maki rolls her up for a close 2. Riho hits the ropes, eats a superkick for another Maki 2 count. Forearm exchange that Riho wins or so I think as this gets fucking crazy with the forearms as Maki is the one to win the battle. Hard whip to the corner, but Riho explodes out with a lariat. Short superkick by Maki as she hits a cartwheel sunset flip for 2. Maki up top, but Riho gets the knees up for the splash, hits the running double knees twice and gets the 3 count. This was pretty damn hard hitting.
Maki Itoh vs Yuka Sakazaki July 16, 2018 TJPW Solid back & forth ground work before we get a stalemate as Yuka suckers her in with a boot & running back elbow as Itoh rushes her into the corner, but Yuka politely places her down, smiles, then boots her in the face. Spinning toe hold as Itoh screams, so Yuka covers her mouth, then drives the boot to the throat in the corner. She snaps Itoh’s neck on the ropes, then does tries a choke over the ropes, but Itoh launches her to the floor hard. Back inside, she tries a corner 10 punches, but again Yuka slams her down. Hard whip to the corner, but Yuka misses a dropkick off the second and eats multiple Itoh dropkicks. Honma Kokeshi headbutt by Itoh gets a 2 as she keeps headbutting Yuka, but Yuka ducks one and sinks in a rear naked choke deep before Itoh gets the ropes. Itoh literally just screams in Yuka’s face before Yuka just chops her in the throat to stop it. Yuka rakes the eyes and Itoh drags the ref to the corner and does her corner punches. She realizes what she’s done and the REF FLAIR FLOPS!! Yuka with a missile dropkick, covers, but the ref is still down! Yuka boots the ref, then politely wakes him up just in time to get rolled up by Itoh 1…2…NO! Headbutts to the head & chest as Itoh sinks in the Boston Crab, but Yuka wiggles into a roll up for 2. Nasty DDT by Itoh as she goes to the second, misses the Kokeshi, but hits a diving headbutt to the midsection for 2. She tries another, but Yuka side steps & hits a sliding D. Springboard frog splash off the middle of top rope by Yuka for the 1…2…3! Post match, Yuka screams right into her ear as payback. Itoh was helped to the back and, despite looking like the sweetest girl ever, flips the crowd off! I dug this match. Just enough comedy, but it was solid stuff. Can’t wait to see Yuka again & Itoh won me over.
Maki Itoh vs Mina Shirakawa May 5, 2019 DDT Pro Standing switches to start as they trade arm bars, headlocks as Itoh goes for the corner punches, but Mina escapes and does it herself with the lightest punches you’ll ever see for a 2 count. Drop toe hold by Itoh who tries a surfboard but as she pulls back she falls on her own ass and the hold breaks. Itoh tries the corner punches again and gets it, again, the lightest you’ll ever see, for 2. They trade forearms & shoulder blocks before Mina nails a flying tackle. Running corner elbow & dropkick by Mina gets 2 and it’s Mina who gets the full surfboard stretch. She lets go after a bit, allowing Itoh to fight back with a headbutt and Kokeshi’s to the midsection for 2. Boston Crab applied, but she tries to turn it into a Cloverleaf, as Mina gets a 2 fall, then does a reverse crab of her own. Itoh gets the ropes and they headbutt each other again until Itoh eats a spinning back elbow for 2. Mina tries an Implant DDT, but Itoh counters into one of her own before sinking in the Cloverleaf for the submission win. Solid little match.
Maki Itoh vs Su Yung September 1, 2019 DDT-Pro Mind games from Su to start as she scares the hell out of Itoh and bites her. Itoh bails to the floor as is retreating like Rollins would The Fiend. Su bites at the hand and the ref is doing literally nothing about this, but when he does, Su stalks him down. Itoh hits a running elbow in the corner and tries for her corner punches, but they have no effect. She goes for Kokeshi, but misses as Su tosses her to the apron and hits a SPINNING BACK BREAKER ON THE EDGE OF THE RING! That was impressive as she tosses an audience member out of his chair and sits Itoh down, slapping the shit out of her. Su takes her dress off, charges off the apron & hits a tumbleweed. They head back inside for a 2 count as Su gets the body scissors before Itoh escapes, charges and runs into Su screaming in her face. We then have a Scream Off that would make Daffney proud and they both scream at the ref, who fucking bumps! Kokeshi by Itoh gets a 2 count as Itoh charges in the corner, eats a boot and head scissors sending her face first into the corner. Rollup for Su gets 2 as she applies a glove, but Itoh DDTs her before anything can come of it. That is until Itoh leaps off the top right into a Mandible Claw. Itoh rises from the hold, pulls Su in and KISSES HER for like 10 seconds (which is pretty long) as they both faint. Both are up, Itoh wiggles out of a fireman’s carry and hits a DDT, tries for the Cloverleaf, but Su sprays the mist! Blinded, Itoh still wiggles out of the fireman’s carry into a rear naked choke as the fans cheer Itoh on, but Su counters back into the fireman’s carry and airplane spins her down into a Future Shock for 3. This was a weird match.

Having watched that Suzuki-Asuka match before, yeah it's goddamn wild.
Riho doesn't interest me at all.
I need to watch more Maki Itoh matches.
Hello motherfuckers.
Greatest tweet ever.

I'm in search of more, but I could only find a handful. Once I find more, I'm watching them immediately! Everyone loves her. Alex Shelley, John Silver, Trent, all of them have tweeted as such.
As for the Suzuki/Asuka match, I had only seen the infamous clip, so seeing the whole match was pretty intense. Asuka got some good shots in, but Suzuki was unhinged. But it's like 2 completely different Asuka's, the Kana from years ago & the WWE watered down version.

Hikaru Shida, Mei Sugura & Rin Kadokura vs Maki Itoh, Veny & Emi Sakura All the heels wipe out the faces early and target Shida, but Itoh misses a Kokeshi. She fights back with corner shots asking “Who is the cutest girl in the world?....ITOH CHAN!!” and dishes out her punches before Shida pie faces her away. Shida just pisses my girl off, who hulks up her head & smacks Shida with a headbutt, then flips her off & sticks her tongue out at her (I think I’m in love) but Shida wipes her out with a shot. Rin & Sakura tag in with Rin nailing a cannonball in the corner. Backbreaker counter by Sakura as she tags in Veny, who SLAPS THE SHIT OUT OF POOR RIN! That slap echoed as Sugura trips up Veny, allowing Rin to hit a basement dropkick, then shotgun dropkick, which Veny no sells & hits a exploding dropkick. She tries a powerbomb, but Rin counters into a Northern Lights for 2, short superkick & nice leaping DDT. Shida wants the tag, but Sugura shoves her out of the way to get the tag herself, then does a springboard double stomp onto Veny’s back. Cattle Mutilation applied, but Veny gets the ropes. Cross body caught by Veny, but Suruga gets a roll up, only for Veny to power her up with a wheelbarrow slam & springboard moonsault for 2. Sakura in & wipes out everyone, as she rag dolls Suruga by her hair. Itoh take center stage & sings loudly as Sakura locks on a surfboard stretch rolling around the singing Itoh, who hits the ropes & does a Kokeshi onto them both! Sakura & Itoh get into each other’s face until Veny drags them both to her corner, tagging in. Suruga tries a snap suplex, but can’t get her over, so Veny slams her down. Standing slam for 2 as here comes Itoh, who toys with Suruga & mocks the 5 count in the corner.
Suruga finally fights back & reluctantly tags Shida, who is a house of fire. The chops Sakura is throwing at Shida is vicious as Shida’s forearms don’t have much behind them, but she’s getting more of them off. DDT countered into a Sakura Cross Rhodes and the We Will Rock Your corner splash, but she runs into a Shida pump knee. Itoh nails a swinging DDT on Shida, Rin with a superkick on Itoh, Veny with a superkick on Rin, Suruga with the Big Apple Punch on Veny as Suruga & Shida take turns flicking Sakura in the head & they do a weird ass assisted splash. “Leaning Tower of Tokyo” says Taz. Sakura gets an assisted Stretch Muffler using Shida & Sugura as weapons as Veny hits a massive moonsault to the floor onto Shida at the 20 minute mark. Corner Vader Bomb by Sakura, moonsault by Veny 1…2…Shida kicks out. Shida fights back with a violent uppercut on Veny, but Veny hits a release German. Itoh with a headbutt on Shida, Liger Bomb by Veny 1…2…NO! Rin hits a corner rana on Veny as Shida hits a superplex on Veny from the apron into the ring, holds on for another suplex 1…2…NO! Running shining wizard by Shida 1…2…Sakura breaks it up! All the heels are sent into each other, criss-cross dropkicks wipe out Sakura & Itoh as Shida hits the Falcon Arrow on Veny 1…2…KICK OUT!!! Running knee connect and Shida gets the 1…2…3!! Hell of a 6 woman tag! Post match, Emi Sakura attacks Shida as Itoh goes after her too, but gets sent to the corner & tossed outside where SAKURA BEATS HER UP! She beat up her own partner! Don’t treat Itoh like that!
Japanese Women’s Final “The Magical Girl” Yuka Sakazaki vs Ryo Mizunami
I’m pulling for Yuka in this one. They do the Stevie Ray/Chavo handshake of doom spot before the bell as Ryo brings Yuka to her knees. Yuka tries using her speed, but Ryo shows no effects to the early offense thrown by The Magical Girl. Yuka settles for an eye poke, school girl for 2, small package for 2, school girl for 2, Ryo bails outside. Dropkick through the ropes by Yuka as Taz points out Ryo is “THICKLIER BUILT THAN YUKA!” which is the nicest way of saying fatter. Yuka fails at a bodyslam & Ryo gets one, then bulldozes her down with a shoulder. Standing legdrop gets Ryo 2, she muscles Yuka in the corner & slaps on a Camel Clutch until she hits Kobashi machine gun corner chops. She does a little dance before the last one & misses it as Yuka with a step up rana & jump corner kick, leaping back elbow, then rolling Calf Slicer by Yuka. She lets it go, Sliding D hits, charges again, but Ryo nails a snap powerslam. Wheelbarrow German connects for Ryo (Taz says he used to do that do guys who were shorter than him, make your own joke, I’m not doing it!) as Ryo slaps on the head/arm triangle, but Yuka counters into a triangle choke! Ryo is fading, but powerbombs free. Yuka charges & gets hit with a release overhead belly to belly & murdered with a lariat. Ryo goes for the home run shot, but Yuka blocks & starts throwing boxing elbows & a roaring elbow before a somersault boot, Sliding D 1…2…NO! Yuka wants the Magical Girl Splash & hits it 1…2…KICK OUT!! Yuka tries the Magical Girl 450, but misses, rolls through, charges, but Ryo nails a Uranage for the double down. Both ladies pull each other up by their hair, Ryo looks for Burning Hammer, but Yuka with a roll up for 2. Step up rana into a pin gets 2, Yuka charges, but Ryo takes her head off with a lariat, then a brutal Spear and Rainmaker lariat 1…2…THR…KICK OUT!! Damn that was the last moment! Leg trapped Falcon Arrow connects and Ryo gets the 1…2…3!! Damn, can’t complain though, both ladies kicked ass this match and Ryo Mizunami advances to Wednesday Night on Dynamite.
Thunder Rosa vs Riho
This match should be fire. I just feel the need to point out -1 is with the wrestlers ringside watching this match, which is cool. He rules. Solid back & forth mat wrestling to start as they trade deep arm drags, leg sweeps, Riho with a short dropkick to win the first exchange. Rolling snap suplexes by Rosa as she hangs Riho up on the top & dropkicks her down for 2. Rosa does a few 12-6 elbows onto the noggin on Riho and gets admonished before getting a 2 count. Rosa traps a leg & wrenches at the neck at the same time before just slamming Riho down face first for 2 with an inverted snap mare. Riho fights back with a step up corner knee and tilt a whirl head scissors, 619 connects for a near fall. Rosa battles back with a snap mare/dragon sleeper combo, but Riho rolls through & nails a double stomp. Diving cross body by Riho gets 2 as Riho nails a Dragon Suplex, but is woozy & can’t capitalize. She goes up top and gets cut off by Rosa, but Riho hangs her up in the ropes & hits the double stomp off the top 1…2…NO! Brutal chop/forearm battle, but Rosa wipes out Riho with a lariat for 2, screaming in frustration. She signals for the end, but Riho gets a flash roll up for 2. Riho tries another roll up, but Rosa puts on the brakes, hits a cradle for the 1…2…3!! Finish came out of nowhere, but it was a really good match. I wish they had so much more time, but hopefully they were holding back for something potentially down the line. This means Nyla Rose vs Thunder Rosa on YouTube tomorrow at 6. The winner faces Ryo Mizunami in the Tournament Finals on Wednesday. Winner gets Shida at Revolution on Sunday.

I legit thought we were getting Rosa vs Nyla at 6 tonight, but instead, we get a couple women’s matches first. So I’m just reviewing them too.
Leva Bates vs Madi Wrenkowski Madi throws a library book at Leva to start, but Leva chucks her outside, hits a dive off the apron, then hits a Northern Lights back inside for 2. Madi fights back with a sliding lariat for 2 of her own & hits clubbing blows, but Leva chops back (Leva is really bad at hitting the ropes). Corner kicks by Leva, who hits a bulldog for 2. I have no idea who is heel & who is face here. I guess Leva is a babyface? Superkick by Leva, small package for 2, Madi turns it for 2 of her own, then hits the X-Factor for 2. Madi grabs the Young Bucks book that Leva brought & rips out the pages, which infuriates Leva, who tries to hit her with the book, but the ref takes it away from her. Madi grabs ANOTHER book and waffles Leva in the face and gets the 3 count. This was pretty bad.
Leyla Hirsch vs Miranda Alize Alize wants a handshake, but Leyla says no as Alize gets a head scissors takedown that sends Leyla outside. Alize gets a knee through the ropes & puts the boots to Leyla, charges, but Leyla explodes out with a dropkick. Backslide into a V-Trigger, Leyla murders the poor girl with a fisherman’s brainbuster for 2. Alize fights back with a ripcord knee, then does a corkscrew springboard elbow that leaves Taz saying “what the heck?” as it was fucking awful looking. She goes for a running neckbreaker, but runs right into a cross arm breaker by Leyla to get the submission. The match was fine until that ending by Alize, which was really next level terrible. This is a taped show and they still kept that move and the Taz line in.
US Women’s Final Thunder Rosa vs Nyla Rose Rosa goes after the knees to start, applying a rolling ankle lock in the center of the ring, but Nyla kicks free. Rosa pounces at the leg again, tries a drop toe hold, Nyla no sells, but misses a giant elbow drop. I have no idea who is screaming their lungs out in the crowd (I’m going to assume it’s one of the Gunns, as they’re usually the loudest), but it’s so overly obnoxious & insufferable. The Gunns & Ricky Starks are screaming across the ring at each other, which I don’t care for. Anyways, Rosa got a single leg crab, but Nyla shoves her to the floor. After picking her apart a bit out there, Nyla hits a splash in the ring for 2. Dragon Sleeper/neckbreakers for 2, as Nyla charges in the corner (pretty slowly) but eats the post. Rosa fights back with strikes & sends Nyla to the floor. Running tackle off the apron by Rosa sends Nyla crashing head first into the barricade. Rosa allows Nyla to recover as referee Paul Turner takes a fucking eternity to even start his count and gets to 2 before Nyla already suckered Rosa in and is back on the offense with a backdrop for 2. She spikes Rosa with a Rock Bottom, but only gets 2. Nyla goes to the top rope and Rosa pulls her leg out from under her and Nyla smacks her head on the buckle on the way down, which looks gnarly. Corner clothesline & double knees in the corner, then shotgun dropkick as Rosa goes up top with a missile dropkick 1…2…NO! Nyla fights back, hangs Rosa up on the top rope, goes to climb up for the massive knee drop and connects, even though she sold her bad knee for the 1…2…KICK OUT! Nyla tries for the Beast Bomb, but can’t lift her, Rosa then hits a super sloppy Death Valley Driver 1…2…NO! That was sloppy, but the strength to even get that half off was impressive. Nyla tries a German, but Rosa counters into a wheelbarrow stunner, then drops Nyla with a Backdrop Driver for 2. Up top goes Rosa, she leaps for a hurricanrana, but Nyla hits a BEAST BOMB OUT OF MID AIR for the 1…2…3!! Nyla wins it. I didn’t like the first half of the match, but the second half was honestly really good stuff. One of the stronger Nyla matches you’ll see.
So it’s Nyla Rose vs Ryo Mizunami this Wednesday on Dynamite. Winner gets Shida at Revolution. They've done Shida vs Nyla quite a few times already, so it would make sense if Ryo is coming over from Japan that she wins and faces Shida at the PPV.

Atsushi Onita vs Terry Funk – No Rope Exploding Barbed Wire Time Bomb Deathmatch May 5, 1993 I mean, I had to watch it considering what’s Sunday. The crowd is on fire for this before the bell as they lock up and it actually means something as they are slowly backing one another close to the barbed wire. Clean break & Funk hits jabs & a hard right that sends Onita falling back into the barbed wire, EXPLOSION that tears up Onita’s back & hands! More jabs & piledriver by Funk gets a 2 count. He drags Onita to his feet & whips him into the barbed wire, EXPLOSION! Onita falls down & the barbed wire is sticking into his back. Funk tries to rake Onita’s face into the wire, but he turns the tables & hits a back suplex on the Funker. Both men slowly up and Onita throws Funk into the barbed wire, EXPLOSION! DDT by Onita, who drags Funk up, but he hits an atomic drop onto the knee of Onita. Headbutts by Onita send Funk stumbling, but he grabs Onita falling back & THROWS ONITA TO THE FLOOR, EXPLOSION!! Onita’s back & hands are sliced to shit as we get a 5 MINUTE COUNTDOWN as a slugfest ensues. Onita floors Funk with a right for 2 as the ring will explode in 4 minutes. They keep headbutting each other until Funk applies the Spinning Toe Hold, but Onita kicks him off and Funk falls into the barbed wire, EXPLOSION! 3 minute call as Onita hits a DDT for the 3 count!! We have 2 and a half minutes left as Funk pops up and chokes Onita with some tape (I have no idea why he got pinned so quickly, but whatever). Funk wipes out the referee as Onita hits a third DDT & powerbomb. 90 seconds left as Onita hits another powerbomb. 30 second call as Onita is crawling underneath the barbed wire with 15 seconds left, he looks at the crowd, then DIVES BACK IN, slaps Funk in the face repeatedly, then covers him as the RING EXPLODES!! After the smoke settles, Funk & Onita pull themselves up and stand tall as Onita is in tears putting over Terry Funk on the mic and they walk to the back together, where Onita collapses at the entrance. This was crazy and I know not for everyone, but it’s still a sight to see.

No, I haven't forgotten about this thread.
Ric Flair, Jake Roberts & The Undertaker vs Roddy Piper, Randy Savage & Jim Duggan December 2, 1991 Dark match with no commentary as Piper and Flair start off hot with Piper doing a fucking leap frog before dropping Naitch with a right to regroup. Piper is making Perfect laugh on the floor as Roberts tags in and begs for Savage, who bolts in and beats the shit out of Jake. Top rope double axe, but he falls right towards Taker, who tags in. Macho says fuck this as Duggan tags in and tries for a USA chant but Taker cuts him off with a choke to the corner. Duggan fights back and clotheslines Taker to the floor, but he lands on his feet. He hangs Hacksaw up over the top and tags in Jake before Piper jumps in allowing the heels to beat down Duggan. They keep him isolated before he drops Flair with a right and tags Piper, who lights up Flair with shots and back drop. Knee lift connects as Flair uses the ref to drop Hot Rod with a cheap shot. Taker tags in as Duggan starts a USA chant to cheer on his partner, who is a Scot, but actually Canadian. They keep Piper isolated and at one point the camera man literally runs into Perfect, who looks at him like “WTF?” as I’m shocked (not really) at how gassed Jake is. Flair does a snap mare and tries for a cover with his feet on the ropes for 2. We get a head scissors, then a bridge by Piper to get free and tag Savage, who hits a big back drop, bodyslam and top rope elbow, all while the match is breaking down, to get the 3 count on Ric Flair. This was a nothing match, but I thought the pairings were pretty great. This is a Hall of Fame loaded dark match.
WWF Title Ric Flair (w/Mr. Perfect) vs The Undertaker (w/Paul Bearer) September 10, 1992 Providence Civic Center Flair shoves Taker but he himself gets launched clear across the ring. Gorilla press by Taker as Flair rolls outside to regroup with Perfect. Flair gets in and the eye poke as he chops away, but Taker no sells. Flair backtracks, but Taker stalks him down and Flair does his corner flip and falls outside. Taker sends him back inside and Flair keeps getting no sold. Taker tries his flying clothesline, but Flair ducks and Taker crashes outside where Perfect beats him down as Taker runs distraction. Taker starts no selling Perfect, so Flair attacks. Flair tries to suplex Taker to the floor, but Taker turns the tables & suplexes Flair inside. For some reason Paul Bearer distracts the ref long enough for Perfect to hand Flair some knucks & he pops Taker with them. He gets the Figure Four on, but Taker sits up & chokes Flair out. Perfect pulls out the ref to the floor as Taker starts going after him. Flair attacks again and Taker no sells, hits another gorilla press as fans are starting to throw some trash in the ring while Taker hits the flying clothesline. Perfect in with a chair shot and the ref calls for the DQ. Taker drops Flair with the Tombstone, tries to pin Flair, but the ref explains the match is over. This was a painfully boring and awful match.
Juventued Guerrera, Hector Garza & Super Calo vs Damien, Ciclope & La Parka May 26, 1997 WCW Monday Nitro Juvi & Parka get a fast start with Juvi doing a tilt a whirl, lands on his feet, jumps to the top for a cross body, but Parka catches him & struts to the other side of the corner, dancing out & Juvi hits a rana off the top to the floor. Calo & Ciclope jump in and Ciclope clotheslines Calo down, but Calo hits a head scissors & leaping head scissors off the top sending Ciclope to the floor. Calo hits the ropes & hits a somersault plancha CLEARING THE RAILING AND ENDS UP IN THE THIRD ROW!! Damien & Garza get in and do some flippy stuff as Garza nails a somersault backbreaker & baseball slide to the floor, then moonsault off the second outside! Larry Zbyszko is losing his mind with confusion at what he’s seeing. Rudos take control of Juvi in the ring as Parka hits a step up kick while Garza gets in & quickly sent packing as everyone tries a dive but gets cut off before hitting it. Parka gets 2 off a snap powerslam on Juvi as Damien accidentally clotheslines his partner in Parka as Juvi hits the sloppiest wildest head scissors on Damien to the floor, landing on his own head in the process. Juvi sends Parka outside & hits a somersault dive off the top. Calo does his suicide senton on Damien, Ciclope hits his somersault plancha & Garza wipes everyone out with a Twisting Corkscrew Plancha! Zbyszko calls him Captain Planet as Ciclope sends Garza inside, leaps for a rana off the top, but Garza powerbombs out & nails a standing moonsault for the 3! Crowd was on fire for this and I only remembered this for the Calo in the crowd spot, but fuck, this match was wild & ruled.
Steve Williams vs Jinsei Shinzaki July 23, 2000 AJPW All Japan TV What. A. Pairing. We have a slap battle almost immediately and both show effects from it quickly. Hakushi sprints at him and Doc gorilla presses him over his head, runs and CHUCKS HIM OVER THE TOP CLEARING THE RAILING CRASHING ONTO THE ANNOUNCE TABLE!! He almost clears the table and just collapses on the floor. That was fucking horrifying. At least when Bam Bam did it to Spike in ECW, the fans caught him! Match cuts and Hakushi nails a leaping enzugiri, then another & another finally dropping Doc for 2. Up to the top, Hakushi tries a flying shoulder tackle, but Doc side steps, hits a Doctor Bomb for a close 2. Oklahoma Stampede connects for 1..2…NO! Doc looks for a Saito Suplex, but Hakushi spins around landing on him for 2. They trade shots before Doc hits a snap back suplex, but Hakushi rolls through, only to collapse right in front of Doc, who hits a Back Drop Suplex dropping Hakushi on top of his head for the 3 count. Wish the match wouldn’t have cut, but damn, what we got was pretty rad.
Kronik vs Tomaki Honma & Yuto Aijima August 31, 2002 AJPW Royal Road 30 Well, the Kronik match with Goldberg in AJPW was one of the worst tag matches I’ve ever seen, let’s see if this one is remotely better. Aijima gets overpowered immediately and dropped right on his head with a Full Nelson Slam by Adams for 2. Honma breaks it up and gets launched outside for his troubles. Clarke tags in and Aijima tries fighting Kronik, but gets leveled with a double shoulder. He does get an enzugiri on Clarke and tags Honma, but Adam Bomb no sells his offense until Honma rakes the eyes & hits a jawbreaker. He tries a cover & gets tossed clear across the ring. Tag to Aijima, but Clarke quickly boots him in the face & hits the Death Penalty he did as Wrath. Double team corner kicks by Kronik who beals Aijima across the ring. Adams drops his legdrop for 2, misses a clothesline and Aijima nails flying forearms, but goes for a third and Adams presses him in the air. Aijima wiggles out, blatant low blow in front of the ref (who is Yamaguchi-San) as they hit a double suplex on Adams for 2. Honma tries some lariats, but Adams hulks up, running into a big boot. Adams chucks Aijima into the railing while Clarke lays out Honma with the Meltdown as Kronik hit High Times for the 3 count. This wasn’t great, but it was much better than their next tag match with Goldberg, which would sadly be both men’s last wrestling match (Adams due to him passing away and Clarke due to him retiring).
Keiji Mutoh & Animal Warrior vs John Tenta & Genichiro Tenryu AJPW Real World Tag League December 6, 2002 So Animal wants to do sumo with Tenta, but they charge and Quake drops Animal like a cruiserweight. That was literally it as both men tagged out. Mutoh & Tenryu in and Mutoh immediately tries a full nelson rest hold, as Tenryu gets the ropes. Mutoh sends Tenryu outside on a dropkick, then hits a plancha, landing right on Tenryu’s face. 2 count back inside and we go to a chin lock rest hold. Tag to Animal, who immediately does a neck crank rest hold. Thankfully after a minute, Tenta gets the tag and splashes Animal in the corner, then hits a belly to belly for 1. He chokes Animal in the ropes, then puts on a bear hug. The amount of rest holds in this match is insane. Animal fights out and they hit a double clothesline to allow Mutoh to tag in. Low dropkicks to Tenta’s knee and the dragon screw on the big man has been the highlight of this match. Tenryu jumps in and starches Mutoh with a punch, allowing Tenta to hit a side suplex. Mutoh pops up immediately as Tenryu tags in and gets DDT’d for 2. Tenryu drags him up and Mutoh hits a spin kick, both tag their partners as they hit a double suplex on Tenta as Animal clocks Tenryu with a clothesline, tries to hoist him up once for the Doomsday Device, but drops him twice awkwardly. Mutoh is just standing on the top rope as Tenta walks over and throws him off. Tenryu hits a brainbuster on him, but Mutoh no sells and hits a Shining Wizard. Tenta drops an elbow on Mutoh and everyone is down in the clunkiest sequence I’ve seen in a long time. Mutoh goes to the top again and Tenta goes up with him, as Animal, who FAILED TO GET TENRYU UP ON HIS SHOULDERS, tries to get the big Tenta on his shoulders and collapses for the THIRD TIME as they just pretty much step out of the way to allow Tenryu to hit a super brain buster on Mutoh, but nothing comes of it. Animal and Tenta just hit tame double clotheslines on each other and I honestly think no one knows what to do. Tenryu and Tenta hit double Axe Bombers on Animal, Tenryu with a brainbuster, Tenta with a leg drop and Animal kicks out at 2. Seriously. Tenryu with another brain buster, Tenta with a big splash 1…2…Mutoh breaks it up. Tenryu with a third fucking brain buster, Tenta with an elbow drop for 3. THIS WAS ONE OF THE WORST MATCHES I’VE EVER SEEN INVOLVING 4 LEGENDS OF THE SPORT. This was such a tough watch.
Maki Itoh vs Miyu Yamashita Madrid 2019 The commentator for this is unbearably loud, so I’m muting this one. There are no seats, so it’s just fans standing around the ring with cameras as Miyu works the arm, but Itoh turns the tide with her signature corner punches, missing the Kokeshi headbutt. Snapmares by Miyu, as she keeps Itoh grounded with a backbreaker for 2. Itoh makes a comeback with a bodyslam and the camera cuts to black & white super slow motion of the move, which is weird. Itoh misses a splash in the corner, but no sells, slamming her own head into the turnbuckle before hitting the Kokeshi for 2. Slugfest ensues until Itoh crumbles, but she pops up, hits a DDT and slaps on a sleeper. Miyu nearly spins her into a fireman’s carry, but Itoh floats through into another DDT for 2. Both women get up and Miyu nearly takes Itoh’s head off with a high kick for 2, winds up and nails a Black Mass spin kick for 3.

Fun Fact: That Flair, Jake & Taker vs. Savage, Duggan & Piper match was at the same TV taping as the Shawn/Marty Barber Shop segment.
I always wondered what it would be like to sit at one of those 5 hour tapings where they'd film like a whole month of Superstars or Challenge.

I always wondered what it would be like to sit at one of those 5 hour tapings where they'd film like a whole month of Superstars or Challenge. Wow, I didn’t realize that was the same taping as the Rockers split. I went to 1 marathon TV taping in 95. Superstars, Challenge & Action Zone. It’s exhausting, especially for an 8 year old kid wanting to make it to the end of the 5 hour taping to see Diesel vs Sid (I was 8 remember). We left before it happened because my dad had to work the next morning, but found out that match went literally 30 seconds haha. I did get to see the debut of Rad Radford, Bam Bams new babyface fire gear and also some jobber named Hunter Hearst Helmsley’s TV debut.

Yeah The Mark of the Quad has some historic wrestling moments (to me at least).
Trips debut The last appearance of John Cena as The Prototype (he debuted the next night after a house show I saw him at) APA won the tag titles against Kane & X-Pac Jarrett won the IC title from Godfather after Debra showed her knockers NXT Competitor David Otunga was our "guest host for RAW" once because they couldn't find a celebrity who would come to Iowa/Illinois for RAW
Ok, maybe the first two were historic, the last few...happened.

Also, as we discussed, Great American Bash '97. I recently watched that opening match between Ultimo Dragon and Psychosis. Fucking amazing match. Crowd was going bonkers for Dragon.

Finding myself on TV when Savage and DDP fought past me will remain a highlight. That show was a lot of fun live. Looking back, it’s remains fun, but some serious stinkers in the middle.
Konnan vs Hugh Morrus and Glacier vs Wrath were brutal.
So many guys from WCW not on that card, but it’s the only time I ever got to see Piper live, which was awesome.

Oh yeah, I just remembered I saw the one and only Beaver Cleavage match too.
I will sell that memory to WWE on an upcoming season of Treasures.

Time to dust this son bitch off. I have so many matches that I had banked and forgot to even post them.
123 Kid & Bob Holly vs Well Dunn January 1995 Double dropkicks by Holly & Kid send Well Dunn to the floor to regroup in the early going. Well & Holly get back in and lock up, but Holly gets a head scissors, scoop slam & arm drags. Harvey Wippleman takes the ref as The Kid tags in, but Steven Dunn lowers the top rope & he tumbles outside. Back inside, Timothy Well goes up top with a flying back elbow for 2. Dunn tags in & flies in with a clothesline, then a jawbreaker. Kid nearly gets a small package, but Dunn takes his head off with a clothesline & then they do a double slingshot back suplex. Snap legdrop by Well for 2 as they’ve isolated Kid, who tries fighting back, getting eye poked as a result. Kid ducks a double clothesline & knocks both men down as we get a Holly hot tag. Back drop, dropkick, clothesline, double noggin knocker as Harvey again takes the ref as Holly chucks Well into the steps. Dunn slams the Kid as Holly leaps off the top for a sunset flip (LANDING ON HIS FUCKING HEAD IN THE PROCESS) for the 3 count. Fun little match, aside from Sparky concussing himself at the end.
Mantaur vs Walter Slow January 1995 Yep, this was Mantaur’s debut and he had the giant bull head. We cut to confused fans, as this was even before Mantaur had weird eyebrows painted on. He steamrolls Slow into the corner & hits an overhead belly to belly, then a shoulder tackle. Slow tries throwing shitty clotheslines & the worst dropkick you’ll see, but gets caught in a cross body & slammed down repeatedly. Mantaur starts revving up & just runs through Slow & drops a standing splash for 3. I can’t believe Mantaur made it 6 months, he shouldn’t have been 6 weeks.
King Kong Bundy vs Nick Barberri January 1995 Vince calls Bundy the odds on favorite to win the Rumble, which, he didn’t. Barberri tries to shoot a single leg on King Kong fucking Bundy, which is beyond dumb. He sends Barberri hard into the post to the floor as Dibiase just stares at him laughing. Clubbing blows & big splash in the corner, then a standard elbow drop for the 5 count (because it’s Bundy) for the win.
The Blu Brothers vs Joey Ahrndt & Butch Long February 1995 The future Joey Abs here as this is the Blu Brothers debut on Superstars. Joey Abs starts off with Jacob and just gets clubbed down before Eli tags in and does the exact same thing. He misses a corner splash & Abs hits some right hands as the Blus regroup outside. Uncle Zeb scolds them and gets them back there as they quickly regain control. They launch Long over the top & they hit double chops on him leading to the spinebuster/legdrop combo for the win. I can’t believe the Blus stuck around for like 9 months in 95 and even got a Mania match out of it.
King Kong Bundy vs Bill Weaver February 1995 Young kid is the ring announcer and just a reason for Lawler to roast him at how awful he is. Bundy mauls Weaver to start, laying him out with a shoulder tackle, running splash in the corner & that was literally it, he pinned him for the win. I guess that was his finisher? Who cares.
The Undertaker vs Henry Godwin February 1995 We get a face off to start as HOG throws some shots that have zero effect, so he hits a corner splash & Taker stalks him down, hitting throat chops. Flying clothesline by Take, who goes for Old School & hits it. Scoop slam, but Taker misses the elbow & Henry clotheslines him to the floor. Bearhug by the hog farmer back inside as The King says this is “The Year of The Pig”. Taker fights free, lowers his head, but Henry punts & slams him down. He drops multiple elbows for a 2 count as Taker rises, only to be knocked down with right hands. Taker starts no selling, hits a big boot, tries for a Tombstone, but Henry wiggles free & clocks Taker with a clothesline. Godwin takes too long, eats a boot & Taker connects with a huge choke slam for the 3 count.
Man Mountain Rock vs Charlie Hunter February 1995 The former Max Payne is decked head to toe in tie-dye as his theme music is what Droz used to have, except MMR does a little guitar riff over it. Charlie Hunter does a baseball slide through the legs, then tries a hip toss, but Rock creams him with a lariat. Big time elbow drop, then another, as MMR hits a headbutt & gets woozy for a second. He applies a rest hold for 5 seconds, before hitting a front face suplex for the 3. Man Mountain Rock sucked. Hearing Vince say “he sure is a mountain of a man, who knows how to rock the house!” That was his gimmick, so dumb.
Shawn Michaels vs Adam Bomb February 1995 Bomb attacks HBK during his entrance & punts him to the floor as Shawn is bumping around like crazy. Shawn pops up on the apron a few times, gets knocked off, but goes a 3rd time and pokes Bomb in the eyes, dropping an axe handle off the top. He tries a hip toss, but Bomb puts the brakes on, clotheslines HBK & gets a 2 count. HBK backs him in the corner, gets a cheap shot, but tries a splash & misses. Adam Bomb keeps working an arm bar, which is weird to see a guy his size do against such a small opponent. HBK tries a corner float over, but Bomb avoids it & backdrops him down. Shawn grabs the tights & tosses Bomb outside where he hits a slingshot plancha! Snapmare back inside as HBK goes to the second with an elbow drop for 2. Bomb starts firing up with a hip toss, clotheslines & one over the top. He tosses Shawn back inside, goes for a slingshot clothesline from the apron, but Shawn ducks, Bomb crashes & HBK finishes him off with Sweet Chin Music for the 3.
The Headshrinkers vs Well Dunn February 1995 We get some dweeb fan doing ring intros as Well Dunn attack at the bell. Fatu knocked to the floor as they hang up Sionne throat first on the top as Dunn hits a clothesline off the apron onto Fatu. They keep putting the boots to the former Barbarian, who ducks a double clothesline, Fatu trips one up & Sionne pops the other with a powerslam. Tilt a whirl back breaker onto Dunn as he tags Fatu, who goes up top, big time splash for the 3 count. Harvey looks absolutely disgusted as Captain Lou celebrates with The Headshrinkers. This was apparently for a shot at the Tag Team Titles, so the following week, Headshrinkers wrestled the Smoking Gunns to a double countout, riveting. The Blu Brothers interfered in that match.
20 Man Battle Royal British Bulldog, King Kong Bundy, 123 Kid, Mantaur, Duke Droese, Jerry Lawler, Fatu, Sionne, The Blu Brothers, Adam Bomb, Aldo Montoya, Henry Godwin, Kwang, Mabel, Mo, Shawn Michaels, Bob Holly, Tom Prichard, Jimmy Del Ray February 1995 Bell sounds and literally everyone chases Shawn, who bails in seconds over the top, saying he won the battle royal that counts at the Royal Rumble. “You don’t want to be down on the ground with that amount of meat above you.” was a line said by Gorilla Monsoon in this one. Sionne got dumped by a Blu Brother, as did Mo. Fatu superkicked a Blu Brother out, while Henry Godwinn lowered his shoulder and dumped Duke. I do like that heels are fighting heels & faces with faces. The Gigolo gets clotheslined out as Bob Holly clotheslines Aldo Montoya out. Henry Godwin gets dumped out by Mabel, as does Fatu. Adam Bomb tumbles to the floor courtesy of Mantaur, while the 123 Kid eliminates Tom Prichard. Mabel gets eliminated by King Kong Bundy & Mantaur after a long struggle. Bundy jaw jacks with Mabel so long that everyone dumps him out. Bob Holly is the next to go, as he gets eliminated by a Blu Brother. It’s pretty weird seeing Kwang & The Blu Brother double team Mantaur. 123 Kid & Bulldog double team Lawler and knock him outside, but he is standing on one foot. He’s hopping around the floor (Vince calls him a demented kangaroo) until Bret Hart walks out from the back & just smirks at The King. He slowly walks up to Lawler & stomps on the foot, causing Lawler to be eliminated. He punches away at The King, before walking to the back. Kwang misses a wheel kick & Bulldog clotheslines him out. Bulldog, Kid, Mantaur & a Blu remain as the Blu Brother hip tosses Kid over the top. Bulldog backdrops the big Mantaur over the top and it’s down to a Blu & Bulldog. Davey hits a running powerslam almost immediately, then goes to eliminate him, when Shawn Michaels runs out and punches Davey in the ribs. The Blu clotheslines Davey down, charges at him, but Davey ducks & the Blu eliminates himself. HBK watches it happen on the Titantron & looks annoyed as Davey wins it.
123 Kid vs Bob Cook March 4, 1995 Kid shows off his speed to start with a dropkick to the outside as he lets Cook back inside & clocks him with kicks in the corner. Cook gets an elbow up in the corner & takes Kid down with a snap mare, but misses the follow up elbow. Standard headlock by Kid, as Cook counters into a back suplex. Kid reverses a whip & takes Cook’s head off with a wheel kick & a roll up for 3.
Kama vs Chris Nelson March 4, 1995 The Supreme Fighting Machine Papa Shango gets a few kicks to start before choking Nelson in the ropes. That’s literally all it is before he finally switches it up and hits a belly to belly before locking in the STF for the quick win.
Henry Godwin vs Leroy Howard March 4, 1995 I remember Howard as a guy Goldberg would squash a few years after this. On this night, Godwin hits a back suplex, then just punts Howard in the head & slaps on a bear hug, driving him into the corner. Hard elbow drop connects as HOG drives his opponents head into the corner, headbutt to the belly welly & Slop Drop for the 3 count.
Men on a Mission vs Dennis Knight & Black Phantom March 4, 1995 Knight still rocking his Shanghai Pierce gear from WCW as he’s yet to become Phineas Godwin. It’s funny because the Phantom was Gangrel here, so 3 of these 4 guys would become Ministry members. Mabel levels Knight with a lariat and fucking Ghetto Blaster before missing an elbow drop. Knight hits 2 clotheslines that drops the big man, but he doesn’t follow up and Mabel just runs him over, dumping him outside. Phantom tags in as he’s sent to the MOM corner where Mo tags in and goes to work with a picture perfect spinning heel kick. Tag back to Mabel as MOM hits the sandwich in the corner & the double splash for the 3 count.
King Kong Bundy vs Butch Long March 4, 1995 Bundy clobbers Long in the corner before launching him shoulder first to the post and Long flies to the floor landing super hard. Back inside, Bundy just stands on his head, hits a corner splash & that was his finish. Bundy was just so out of place, even in 95.
Kama vs Leroy Howard March 18, 1995 Can Leroy do any better against Kama than he did HOG? Well, no. He does get an early armbar, but Kama quickly reverses & just boots him in the ribs repeatedly. Howard gets in some jabs, but Kama again just lights him up. He pulls Howard up by the nose & slaps him before hitting a spin kick to the midsection for the easy win.
123 Kid vs Mike Khoury April 8, 1995 Hip toss by Khoury, who celebrates like he won the damn match. Kid slaps on a head lock, hits a shoulder block, but Khoury answers with a hip toss and Kid goes flying! Kid responds with a dropkick & boot right to the throat as he takes Khoury’s head off with a spin kick, hits his corner kicks & Northern Lights Suplex for the 3. I’m surprised how much offense Khoury got here.
Smoking Gunns vs Kwang & Hakushi (w/Harvey Wippleman & Shinja) April 15, 1995 Zero clue that Kwang was still around this late in 95. They attack the Gunns at the start, but Billy gained control with a dropkick & bodyslam on Kwang for 2. The Gunns make quick tags and work the arm boringly before they hit a Hart Attack. Hakushi just slowly walks into the ring and that’s what breaks the count, despite him not doing anything. Kwang hits a superkick on Bart & he shoots red mist in the air before tagging Hakushi. Bodyslam & Vader Bomb out of the corner as we go to break & come back to a front face lock on Bart by Hakushi. He almost tags Billy, but Hakushi lets go of the hold and just tags Kwang. He drops the leg on Bart in the ropes, tags Hakushi and he & Bart hit double cross bodies for the double down. Tag to Kwang & hot tag to Billy who cleans house while doing finger guns. He ducks a superkick, hits a high cross for 2. Hakushi holds Billy, but he moves and Kwang hits a spin kick to his partner and gets rolled up by Mr. Ass for the 3 count. A lot more boring than you’d expect. The miscommunication led to a Hakushi/Kwang match and Hakushi won that and essentially ended Kwang as a character. I looked it up and he played Kwang on May 13th and debuted as Savio on May 14th as the PPV. Kwang til the very end, baybay!
Sid vs Aldo Montoya April 29, 1995 Sid grabs Aldo by the throat right away & launches him to the floor, but Aldo lands on his feet, goes up top & hits a cross body, but Sid quickly out to the floor. Aldo tries a slingshot cross body, but gets caught in mid air & dropped face first on the side of the ring. Gorilla Press over the top rope as Sid leaps back onto the apron from the floor, barely making it, but luckily does. He punts Aldo in the ribs a few times & hits the Powerbomb for the quick win. I actually dug this squash, Aldo got a few moves & it was quick.
HHH vs Sonny Rodgers May 6, 1995 Both guys grab armbars, but Trips somersaults out & grabs a headlock. He hits a dropkick & uppercut that drops Rodgers as he keeps hitting them before murdering Sonny with a lariat. Boot to the ribs as he drags Rodgers up & hits a spinning heel kick. Bow to the crowd who boo loudly as he hits a Diamond Cutter for the win. I forgot he used the Diamond Cutter as the Pedigree before switching it up thanks to DDP.

I’ll talk about it in here since it’s something I just watched.
Flair & Arn vs The Blonds from Clash 23 is unreal. Flair’s first match back from WWF. Hot crowd. Great match. Yes the finish ruins it slightly with Windham interfering for a fuck finish, but the other 99.9% of this match is incredible.
Austin misses dropping a leg on Arn in the ropes, but bounces out like nothing happened, rolls the camera taunt at Flair but turns right into a DDT from Arn that has the crowd go nuts.
And yes, more matches will be coming soon to this thread. It ain’t dead yet.

I think between you and me, WCW gets more love on this board than anywhere on the internetz.
And you are 100% correct about this fantastic match. And the Flair for the Gold/Flair for the Old segments that set this match up were also amazing TV.

It still baffles me that Bischoff could look at Austin, Pillman, Regal, and Cactus Jack in 1993-94 and still say, "Nah, we need Duggan, Earthquake, Brutus, and Honky Tonk Man."

Scott Hall vs Hiroshi Tanahashi September 9, 2001 I should point out the video title on YouTube says “Scott Hall vs Japanese Young Boy” it didn’t say that the young boy was Hiroshi friggin Tanahashi! Hall absolutely towers over Tana, as he tosses the toothpick in his face & grabs the arm, paint brushing Tana like Hall does. Brutal corner chop before Hall hits a fall away slam & sinks in his abdominal stretch with the foot grabbed before transitioning into a STF. To the corner we go as Hall hits his back suplex & signals for the end. He drags Tana up & plants him with a Razor’s Edge but doesn’t cover him; instead he opts for the microphone & calls out Keiji Mutoh. He said if he ever steps in the ring with him, this will be him right as Tanahashi gets a school boy 1…2…3!!! I friggin’ love it! Squash match that Hall was too cocky with & ended up losing to the young boy, where have I heard that before?
Just wanted to give this match some respect again. I posted this in my very first post in this thread before it became a huge conquest during quarantine. Hall putting over young Tanahashi in 2001. Just good stuff.

Getting this going with some consistency again. I got a lot in the holster ready to go, so time to burn through a bunch of the New Generation before I jump back into 91 WWF.
Bertha Faye vs Jessica Rivera May 6, 1995 Bertha ragdolls Rivera down a few times as Harvey Wippleman is smittened ringside. She steamrolls her & then hits a butt bump that would make Ryusuke Taguchi happy! Back body drop, she tries another, but Rivera flips out of it, sends Bertha off the ropes, but she literally bounces right off her. Faye misses a standing splash & Rivera nails a top rope clothesline. Bertha recovers & splashes her in the corner, gorilla press slam & vicious sitout powerbomb for the 3. I didn’t see many Bertha Faye squashes, so this was interesting.
The Undertaker vs Dave Sigfrid May 6, 1995 Sigfrid charges full steam, but Taker turns & clocks him with a clothesline. Sigfrid gets sent to the corner, bounces out & Taker hits a Tombstone for 3. It honestly took Taker more time to take his jacket off. He struggled to stand up after this, so I don’t know if he was hurt at this time or what. Post match, a little old school, as they put Sigfrid in a bodybag, something I didn’t know Taker did after 92.
Diesel vs Henry Godwin May 13, 1995 Diesel works an armbar to start, but HOG gets the ropes & boots the WWF champ away. He hits the ropes, but Diesel answers with a flying clothesline & corner clothesline. Huge splash in the corner by Diesel, who dishes out his knees to the midsection before doing the squisher. Bodyslam connects, as does an elbow for 2. HOG ducks a clothesline & knocks the big man to the outside. He picks Diesel up & slams him back first into the post, throwing him down like he’s nothing. Back inside, camel clutch applied, but he releases the hold for some reason. He levels Diesel with a clothesline as the champ starts fighting back with shoulders to the midsection, charges & eats HOG elbow. Back from commercial break, Diesel rises & hits a fucking electric chair on Henry Godwin, which is downright impressive for the double down. They have a slugfest before Diesel just powers HOG down with a side suplex for 2. Snake Eyes on the 300 pounder as HOG stumbles into the ropes & Diesel drops the leg. Big boot hits as he calls for & hits the Jackknife for the 3. This match was quite a bit of fun, Diesel had his working boots on this one and it was so much better than anything he or Sid did together at this time.
Rad Radford vs Jerry Lynn May 13, 1995 Lynn with a head scissors early as Radford slaps him in the face & cheap shots him with a right hand. Vince & Dok Hendrix are comparing Radford to John Goodman as Radford takes his gym shorts off & drops a knee, not sure what no pants has to do with that. Lynn fights back with kicks, but Radford hits a flying forearm out of the corner. Lynn fires back yet again, but Saito Suplex by Radford leads to a vicious spinebuster. Northern Lights Suplex is the finish as Radford gets the 3 count. Really wish Louie Spicolli had more success in the WWF.
Kama vs Duke Droese May 27, 1995 KOTR Qualifier as the winner of this would ultimately face Shawn Michaels, so you know who is winning this one. Duke hits a clothesline early but misses a corner splash. Vader Bomb misses out of the corner by Kama as Duke fights back with right hands & a dropkick. Vince says King Dumpster has a nice ring to it and I strongly beg to differ. Snap suplex by the trash man as Kama eats a powerslam for 2. Big back body drop as Duke goes for his elbow & misses wildly. Kama hits a spinebuster & gets the 3. Kama hit like 2 moves this whole match. Must Duke take the whole match?
Tekno Team 2000 vs Barry Horowitz & Brooklyn Brawler May 27, 1995 Chad Fortune & Erik Watts are Tekno Team 2000 as we start with a hammerlock by Troy (Watts) on Brawler, then an arm drag on Horowitz. Double leapfrog by TT2000 as Travis tags in, hits 1 move, tags Troy, who hits a big crossbody off the top for 2. Travis hits a clothesline on Horowitz & a double dropkick on Brawler. They hit a suplex/reverse cross body as their finish for the 3. Crowd really didn’t care aside from a 55 year old woman whistling in the crowd. This was a terrible gimmick.
Rad Radford vs Burt Centeno June 3, 1995 Radford with an early snap suplex, but Centeno gets up & throws a few rights, only to get backdropped to the floor. Baseball slide sends Burt crashing as Radford throws him back inside & plants him with a spinebuster & Northern Lights Suplex for the 3. Louis Spicolli tried to make the most of this character (I guess), but it was just weird.
Skip vs Scott Taylor June 3, 1995 I dug Skip & Sunny before they worked in Tom Prichard as his tag partner. The title of this video says this is Scott Taylor, but it’s clearly not. He kips up off a Skip back elbow, but the Bodydonna quickly DDTs him to the floor. Sunny dabs his brow with a towel & hits a TOPE over the top! Crazy spot for this time as Skip sends him back in & hits a legdrop from the second rope, then fist drop off the second. Corner splash & hurricanrana off the second for the easy 3. Pretty damn impressive squash by Candido.
Bob Holly vs Raymond Roy June 3, 1995 Roy attacks Holly at the bell, hits a hip toss & boots in the corner. Holly scales to the second & hits a leaping back elbow to regain control, hitting a hip toss of his own. Chinlock by Holly, because you can’t get enough rest holds in squash matches. Roy quickly gets out & hits a few punches until they both hit the ropes & they collide & do a double down. Holly pops right up and murders this dude with a lariat & dropkick as he looks annoyed (more so than usual) as he hits a top rope cross body for the 3 count. I have no idea what happened here.
Savio Vega vs Bob Cook June 17, 1995 Thrust chop, hip toss, dropkick to start by Savio as he works an arm bar. Cook backs him to the corner & throws a few shots, but Savio turns the tide & lights him up with chops. Back elbow & boot to the noggin as he applies this rolling pin for the 3 count. This was over super quick, even for a squash. This went like 1 minute.
Waylon Mercy vs Jerry Flynn July 15, 1995 Thunderfoot is in WWF before his WCW run as the massive mullet of Flynn has arrived! Clean break by Mercy to start, but he fakes another one & beats Flynn down with multiple elbows. Mercy apologizes for his aggressiveness, so he levels Flynn with a lariat & paint brushes him. Punt to the ribs as Mercy hits a vertical suplex for 1 before getting up. Brutal left hand as he misses a splash in the corner as Flynn hits a few kicks before being pie faced down. Sleeper applied as the eyes bug out of Mercy & Flynn goes to sleep for the finish.
HHH vs Brickhouse Brown August 12, 1995 Headlock by Brown to start as Hunter escapes a few times, before hitting a cheap shot to gain control. Uppercut in the corner as Trips lowers his head, but punches out of a Brown sunset flip attempt. Dropkicks by Brown who takes the fight in the corner, tries a hip toss, but Hunter puts the brakes on & hits the Pedigree for the 3. This was the proper Pedigree as Hunter was on his way to Summerslam to face Bob Holly.
Sid vs Savio Vega September 23, 1995 Rib shots in the corner as Sid slaps Savio and pisses him off as he fires back, dodges a big boot & keeps pouring on the right hands. Hard chops but Savio runs right into a 1 handed choke slam. Sid wants a Powerbomb, but Bam Bam Bigelow runs in and causes the DQ, attacking Sid with a back drop. Sid is selling it like death outside as Henry Godwinn comes to ringside and chases Ted Dibiase away. He stands over Sid and SLOPS HIM and that wakes him up (remember, from selling a back body drop) as he slams a chair against the ring post. Savio, Bigelow & HOG all just walk to the back and that’s it. Sid has been slopped, that’s the story here.
Diesel vs Waylon Mercy October 14, 1995 Pretty intense face off to start as Diesel does a clean break as Mercy doesn’t do the same, instead just hits a right hand, which Diesel answers with. Knees & hard rights by Mercy, who avoids the first big boot, but runs into the second try by Big Daddy Cool. Corner splash as Diesel spots Davey Boy Smith at the ramp & charges at him. They brawl before Shawn Michaels rushes out with officials to get Diesel away as Dean Douglas runs out to get in the brawl. Waylon Mercy ultimately wins this by countout as Diesel runs back to the ring. Mercy hits some shots before Diesel clocks him with a clothesline & Jackknife. He keeps punching away as HBK has to pull him off of Mercy. This was Danny Spivey’s last official match as his back problems caused him to retire shortly thereafter. Victory over the WWF Champ is a solid way to go out, countout or not!
King Mabel vs Tim McNeany November 4, 1995 McNeany hits two dropkicks before being swatted away for his third try. We get a long camera cut to fans as we cut back to a Ghetto Blaster by the King, who hits a Northern Lights Suplex. He sends McNeany outside & launches him into the ring steps before going back inside, hits a big corner splash & major belly to belly for the 3 count.
Isaac Yankem vs Dave Dalton November 11, 1995 Isaac jaw jacks with fans as Dalton gets some early shots & hammerlock, but future Kane levels him with a lariat & chokes him in the ropes. He rakes at the mouth, as an evil dentist should & goes a-clubberin before hitting a back body drop & hangman’s neck crank submission before hitting the DDS for the 3.
Ahmed Johnson vs Scott D’Amore November 18, 1995 The Impact Wrestling EVP gets a cheap shot and some hard rights, which Ahmed promptly no sells. He reverses a whip & turns D’Amore inside out with a lariat and surprisingly nice scissors kick. D’Amore tries for an arm bar, but Ahmed plants him with a spinebuster and Pearl River Plunge for the win. This was the least sloppy Ahmed you’ll see, but again, he was only in the WWF for like a month at this point.
Fatu vs Reginald Walker November 25, 1995 Headlock/shoulder tackle to start by Kish, as they lock up again & Walker backs him to the corner, throwing punches, but Kish no sells and drops him with a hard right. Rake of the eyes by Walker, who slams a Samoan’s head into the buckle, which is dumb. Kish starts dancing & fighting back with a headbutt. We get a super quick inset promo from Fatu as he hits a Diamond Cutter and top rope splash for the 3 count. Wonder if DDP got a hold of Kish to tell him to stop using the Cutter?
Ahmed Johnson vs Jason Ahrndt December 2, 1995 Future Joey Abs slaps Ahmed in the face & tries a headlock, but Ahmed hits 3 rolling Germans that nearly drop Abs on his head every time. Ahmed just puts the boots to him before hitting a spinebuster and Pearl River Plunge for the quick win. Ahmed Johnson hit Rolling German Suplexes, I couldn’t believe my eyes.
Diesel vs Rad Radford December 9, 1995 Knees to the ribs send Radford to the ribs as Diesel hits his corner elbows & clubbing blows. Corner clothesline on the other side as he hits the big boot & Jackknife Powerbomb to win it quickly. Diesel was in that tweener stage where he wasn’t quite heel yet, but he had a “new attitude”, but only high fived fans who were wearing black gloves.
Skip vs Rich Myers December 16, 1995 Leapfrogs & drop downs lead to Myers hitting a hip toss to piss off the Bodydonna. Knee to the midsection, gut wrench powerbomb & snap suplex by Skip as he sets up Myers in the corner and hits a frankensteiner off the top for the 3 count. Candido destroyed this dude in 90 seconds.
Razor Ramon & Marty Jannetty vs Jerry Faith & Jason Ahrndt December 16, 1995 Joey Abs & Marty start it off with the future Posse member getting slammed face first by the Rocker, who backdrops Faith charging in. By charging, I mean walking at him gingerly. Back elbow on Abs until Marty starts lighting up Faith with rights before tagging in Razor, who doesn’t have time for squashes as he murders Faith with a back superplex and Razor’s Edge as Marty tags back in to put one hand on Faith for the 3 count. Post match, Razor just walks over to Joey Abs and punches him right in the face as they talk shit to 123 Kid & Sid.
Triple H vs Titus Dunning December 16, 1995 Dunning gets a head scissors off a Trips headlock, but Hunter hand stands out of it, slapping Dunning in the face. Gut wrench suplex and a neckbreaker hit as Trips bows to his opponent before hitting a stiff Pedigree for the quick win and message to Henry Godwinn before their Hog Pen Match at In Your House
Goldust vs Aldo Montoya December 16, 1995 5 minute video and 3 of it was Goldusts entrance. He slaps Aldo in the face before chucking him to the floor. He stalks him down and turns him inside out with a lariat as the Man O’War slowly crawls back in the ring. Hard buckle taken by Aldo as Goldust launches him over the top to the floor, tries a baseball slide, but Aldo side steps & hits a plancha! Quickly back inside, Aldo to the top, cross body for 2, as he jumps up and hits a clothesline, looks for a back drop, but Goldust punts him & hits a Curtain Call for the 3.
Ahmed Johnson vs Isaac Yankem December 16, 1995 Early shots connect by Isaac as he hits a corner clothesline & some forearms. Ahmed ducks a clothesline with one of his own and does a silly looking standing axe kick and powerslam. He misses an elbow as Yankem starts working the arm for some reason. Ahmed hits a shoulder tackle to stop that nonsense as he plants the big man with a spinebuster and Pearl River Plunge to make short work out of the dentist, but Jerry Lawler breaks up the cover because they need to keep Yankem strong? Ahmed just gets up and no sells their offense as they scatter.
Henry Godwin vs Brooklyn Brawler December 23, 1995 Right hands by HOG to start, as Brawler gets out of an arm bar, but runs into hip toss. HOG goes back to work on the arm, but Brawler again turns the tables with a boot in the corner. He goes up top, but takes a Flair bump and HOG hits the Slop Drop for the 3. This was awful.
Buddy Landell vs Matt Hardy December 23, 1995 The old Ric Flair music used by Landell as Jim Ross says he’s already in the Royal Rumble (he didn’t end up making it, leaving the company before the show). Clotheslines by Buddy start as some people in the crowd are chanting for a young Hardy. Knife edge chops & a back drop by Buddy, who poses too long & eats a Hardy boot. Matt tries a springboard moonsault, but crashes & burns, so Buddy hits a big elbow for the 3. He mocks the Four Horsemen hand signal as he gets his hand raised.
Xanta Klaus vs Scott Taylor December 23, 1995 Heel Christmas music and hailing from The South Pole, here’s Balls Mahoney managed by Ted Dibiase, ready to wrestle Scotty Too Hotty. Inset promo by Dibiase boasting about buying Xanta. Thrust chop to the throat of Taylor as he snap mares his opponent down & hits a big time elbow drop as the crowd just doesn’t give a shit about this gimmick. You can hear the ref tell him to go home as he hits a belly to belly suplex & applies a Camel Clutch for the finish. Wow, who’d have thought Balls Mahoney would be the better character?

Diesel vs Isaac Yankem January 20, 1996 Diesel vs Fake Diesel in early 96 as corner elbows, clothesline & side suplex knocks out 3 of the 7 moves of Nash early as he shoots Yankem to the corner & eats a back elbow as the future Kane takes over. Yankem clotheslines Big Daddy Cool to the floor as the evil dentist gets cut off outside & Diesel takes over, but Jerry Lawler hooks a leg to give Yankem control. We jump cut in the match as Diesel hits a Snake Eyes, but misses a big boot as Yankem hits a clothesline & leg drop for 2. Yankem signals for the DDS, but Diesel turns it into a backbreaker. Both men slowly up as Diesel hits a Jackknife for the 3 count. Lawler bolts to the back as Diesel stands tall over his future self.
Hakushi vs Matt Hardy January 20, 1996 Side kick to the ribs sends Hardy to the corner where Hakushi hits multiple chops & does a somersault handspring corner elbow. Barry Horowitz cuts an inset promo about the Royal Rumble & how it’s every man for himself with his friend Hakushi, who bodyslams Hardy down & hits a Vader Bomb corner splash for the easy 3. Let’s never forget that they paired Hakushi…with Barry Horowitz in 1996.
The Bodydonnas vs Glen Ruth & Chaz Warrington January 20, 1996 Yep, the future Headbangers here as we get a promo of Sunny being in her hot prime as Zip gets a double leg takedown on Chaz & does some jumping jacks. Awkward stalling as Skip tags in and the Bangers take over his arm as Ruth gets the tag, but eats a knee to the belly welly. Ruth tries a leap frog, but Skip powerbombs out of it & Zip tags in hitting a gut wrench powerbomb of his own. Snap suplex, snap leg drop & a corner hurricanrana is what seals the deal for the Bodydonnas in their in ring debut as a team as Zip hits a Whoopie Cushion off the top onto the chest of Ruth for the 3 count.
Avatar vs Isaac Yankem February 3, 1996 Let’s see if Yankem can get back on track against the future Al Snow, who is wearing a mask for this one. Avatar works the arm early, but Yankem gorilla presses him high over his head, slamming him down. Short arm clotheslines by Yankem, who launches Avatar to the corner for some hard right hands. He murders Avatar with a lariat before planting him with a DDS (DDT) for the easy win. This might’ve been Avatar’s last appearance as I have no recollection of him past 1995. He changed characters, coming up soon.
Ahmed Johnson vs 123 Kid February 17, 1996 They lock up and Ahmed literally launches Kid clear over the top to the floor. Kid regroups, but Ahmed chucks him across the ring with a hip toss. We come back from break & Kid hits his corner kicks to the face repeatedly until Ahmed starts no selling. He seriously throws like 30 kicks and Ahmed just stands there and takes them. He flattens Kid with a spinebuster before Jeff Jarrett hits the ring, goes to the top & leaps with his guitar, but gets caught. Kid hits a spin kick to the head as Ahmed spills outside where Jarrett puts the boots to him. Razor Ramon hits the ring and almost hits a Razors Edge on Jarrett, but Kid comes from behind & smacks Razor with the guitar ever so gently. That was literally it, we went to break right after.
The Godwinns vs Joe Gomez & Brooklyn Brawler February 17, 1996 Five months after this, Joe Gomez would be wrestling on a WCW PPV against Mongo, think about that. Hillbilly Jim cuts an inset promo calling for “Hillbilly Power to the 10th Power”, so, whatever, as Phinneas hits a shoulderbreaker, tag to Henry, who nails an elbow drop. Gomez jumps in, gets booted in the gut & hit with a Slop Drop for the 3. This was terrible, even for WWF squashes.
Duke Droese vs Scott D’Amore February 24, 1996 The Trash Man vs the future head of Impact Wrestling. Snap suplex by Duke to start as we get an inset promo from Triple H covering his feud with Duke Droese, which ended at the PPV the week prior, but Trips is still watching Dumpster matches? Anyways, Duke hits a snap powerslam, knee drop & spinebuster before lowering the straps, calls for the finish and he hits a tilt a whirl powerslam for the 3.
Shawn Michaels vs Shinobi February 24, 1996 So Jim Cornette & Owen Hart are ringside for this one as Shinobi is Al Snow’s next incarnation just a few weeks after Avatar fizzled. HBK clotheslines Shinobi to the floor & but the ninja gets back in, Shawn hits the ropes & Owen lowers the top and HBK crashes hard outside. Somersault dive by Shinobi as Owen gets a shot in before throwing HBK back inside for 2. Somersault leg drop gets another near fall as he slaps on a rest hold that takes us to commercial. Back from break, Shinobi hits a flying clothesline to cut of Shawn, but misses a follow up moonsault. Shawn kips up and the crowd loses their shit as he hits a flying forearm, bodyslam & top rope elbow before Shinobi chucks Shawn outside. Owen holds him as Shinobi tries another dive & wipes out Owen!! Double noggin knocker as we head back inside. Cornette takes the official as Owen grabs HBK, who ducks & Shinobi collides with him, Sweet Chin Music on the ninja for the 1…2…3!! Post match was weird as Shawn hits a sunset flip on Owen and Earl Hebner counts 3, then he drops Cornette with a right hand and covers him for the 3 as well?? Fireworks go off & that was it. The match was really solid, but post match was odd.
The New Rockers vs The Godwinns March 2, 1996 Avatar is now Leif Cassidy with Marty as this is an opening round match of the tag title tournament. Marty & HOG go at it in slow motion as the Rockers make a blind tag & double dropkick for 2, but get distracted by PIG & eat double clotheslines by Henry. Drop toehold/elbow combo by the Rockers as Marty hooks an arm bar & targets that literally for minutes before Cassidy hits a knee lift & they do another double dropkick. Henry jumps in as Cassidy gets sent outside & the Godwinns try a double team, fail, but Leif does a top rope cross body on PIG, who rolls through to get the 3. I can’t believe the New Rockers lasted almost a year, they were really bad here. So were Henry & Phinneas for that matter.
Hakushi vs Goldust March 2, 1996 Can we address how much of a smoke show Marlena was at this time? Sunny & Sable get a lot of the attention, but Marlena was amazing. Chops by Hakushi, who I’m fairly confident this was around his last match with the company, as he follows with a Vader Bomb for 2 as Goldust bails to recover. Slingshot cross body outside as Hakushi lowers his head, Goldust gets his right hand & lariat combo, turning the tide. Flying butt bump by Goldy as he chokes him in the ropes so Marlena can blow cigar smoke into his face. Goldust goes up top, but Hakushi dropkicks him to the floor & goes to get him. Wheel kick to the chest as Hakushi hits his handspring elbow in the corner & a flying forearm. He goes to the top & hits a diving shoulder tackle for a close 2. Goldust gets a knee to the kidneys & hits the Curtain Call to win it.
Fatu vs Justin Hawk Bradshaw March 9, 1996 This was a weird one as Uncle Zeb brands the chest of Fatu as he’s about to hand his jacket to the ring attendant. He goes after Zeb, but turns around & eats a Bradshaw lariat that turns him inside out for the 3 count. This went under 10 seconds and made Fatu look like a total moron.
Isaac Yankem vs Al Walker March 16, 1996 Walker gets a 1 count off a cross body early, which Vince said he almost had him. Kane hits a back drop as we see Bob Backlund yelling at people in the crowd. Yankem just does some punches, then springs to the top for a forearm onto a hung up Walker in the ropes. Walker hits a knee lift & some right hands, but misses a clothesline, allowing Yankem to hit the DDS for the 3.
Bodydonnas vs Bushwhackers March 16, 1996 Zero clue Butch & Luke were still hanging around in 96, but they are, in the opening round of a tag team title tournament. They get attacked by Skip & Zip early. They regain control with clotheslines sending the Donnas outside as they march all around the ring. Butch goes after Zip, who gets a blind tag, but it doesn’t matter as Butch goes after his arm. Tag to Luke, as the Whackers take turns working Skip’s arm as Zip trips him & sends him outside. Zip puts the boots to him, but the match breaks down & Skip gets sent outside. Battering Ram on Zip, but Sunny takes the ref as Skip hits a diving forearm & puts his partner on top for the 3 count. Bodydonnas bumped their asses off & this was prime Sunny, but this was terrible.
Jerry Lawler vs Al Jackson March 23, 1996 The King has decided to do his own commentary for this match as he suckers Al in with a handshake & right hand. He introduces Al to Mr. Turnbuckle & applies a headlock, while calling it, saying Al needs Rogaine. Al grabs the headlock & takes him down, but King head scissors out of it. He stands over Jackson & mocks him, but Al punches him right in the face. Lawler is furious that he chipped his tooth as Al lights up King with jabs. Jackson goes to the top & hits a missile dropkick as he hits a big back body drop. He lowers his head for another one & King hits a Piledriver for the 3 count. This was pretty awesome.
Steve Austin & Savio Vega vs The Bodydonnas March 23, 1996 This is a tournament match for the tag titles as this was a way to build up Savio vs Austin for Wrestlemania. Some chain wrestling by Savio & Zip to start as Vega works the arm, but Skip tags in, only to eat a few hip tosses. Austin is just looking on, annoyed, as Savio is taking the fight to both Bodydonnas. Savio goes for a tag, but Austin walks away from the corner. Rocket Launcher splash is missed by the Donnas as Austin has his back to the action. Savio fights off both men, clocks Austin, hits a wheel kick on Zip, but Sunny takes the ref as Austin drops an elbow off the top on Savio to give the Donnas the win.
Bradshaw vs Dave Starr April 13, 1996 We get a quick weird edit and JBL hits a standing senton, so someone fucked up. JBL hits some snug punches before booting Starr to the floor, but quickly thrown back inside. Sloppy looking Pump Handle Slam, then some elbows as he crushes Starr with a big boot & murders him with a lariat for the 3.
Ahmed Johnson vs Gary Lee April 20, 1996 Lee slaps Ahmed in the face to start (smart move) as Ahmed hits a standing scissors kick & clobbers him with a clothesline. He sets Lee up in the corner, gets a running start and DROPKICKS HIM TO THE FLOOR! Back inside, spinebuster connects, as does the Pearl River Plunge for the quick win.
Mankind vs Fatu May 11, 1996 As Fatu walks out, he’s followed by the future Rosey & Samoan Savage, who were “thugs” trying to recruit Fatu to join their gang. This was an abandoned storyline as they went with making Fatu the Sultan instead, which was a pretty terrible idea. Mankind rushes up the aisle & attacks Fatu from behind & slaps on the Mandible Claw. There’s no official match as Mankind just keeps the assault going, but I wanted to point out that they actually used a young Rosey & Samoan Savage in 96 in the WWF for Fatu, whose “Making A Difference” gimmick was winding down.
Bob Backlund vs Roy Raymond May 18, 1996 I didn’t realize Backlund was still wrestling at this point, but all he did was fake some early lock ups before Raymond turns his back & gets the chicken wing for the finish.

Early '96 is such a weird time for the WWF. They were still really cartoony, but it wasn't as bad as '95. This whole time period is about strapping the rocket to Shawn by any means.
