Vince needs to be careful here. He has been toeing the line on what exactly he produces each week. He wants it to be wrestling. He wants it to be "sports entertainment." He wants it to be episodic television. I know he is the only game in town, but you've got to think at some point something is going to break here. He's the only TV show in town that has actors that aren't in a union. He's the only TV show in town, who now with the WWE Network, isn't be held to any royalty fees. If these former wrestlers had any sense, they would form a coalition much like the former NFL players and sue McMahon for head injuries and now royalties/residual checks. He has positioned his TV show over the years in whichever way suits him best for the scenario.

My other worry for the company is the revenue cannibalization. This was my biggest fear for them from the start and I'm still not sure how this will shake out.

But I still say my biggest fear should be the biggest fear of WWE. The revenue will probably be made up. Even if it's break even, they have a new platform from the dying PPV model. But too much wrestling could kill it. Nerds OD'ing on content.

Anyone else feel like they are going to drop the ball on this launch? You cannot purchase or sign up for the network until THE DAY IT GOES LIVE! What the hell are they thinking? I don't see how this won't be a clusterfuck. Hoping for the best because I am interested, but this seems insane to not let people register and buy early now.

But even if it's a cluster it doesn't affect too much. The Chamber will have already been completed and nobody would really miss anything. Fans can still watch RAW, Smackdown, etc.... just as they did before. The E have a long time to work out the bugs leading up to Mania.

Yea, but no one wants to shit the bed the minute the channel is supposed to go live. I believe the show goes officially live for the post Raw show. If people have trouble logging on at that moment it won't be good. The last thing you are angry subscribers day one. And most likely they are going to do something big to get people to watch the Raw-Post show.

I do agree it's questionable at best to open everything up at once. Maybe there's some tech/contractural issues in play.

Yea, and I get your point too. I just can't get over how big of a potentially risky move this is - as a public company now - and they are going to try to handle all of this in one day. I'd imagine their site will get hammered on Monday.

I've been trying to order for the last hour and the website keeps crashing.
Gonna say that's not a good sign.

I don't think its a bad sign really - different kind of web traffic and needs more responses from the server. Once it settles I am sure it will be fine. I don't think its a harbinger of quality of the stream or issues with that once signed up.

I'm going to start my efforts around 12:30. Expecting a shit show. But Halloween Havoc 89' will be on my computer at some point this afternoon. Of course this turned into one of the busiest Monday's in some time.

Shouldn't you be busy saving dogs from migrant workers?

Score Jr has weighed in and he is not happy. Says you can watch some stuff, can't watch other stuff, other stuff buffers endlessly and he also thinks the E caused the Xbox network to crash. Or something like that.
I think I'll wait a week or two on this.

WWE Network @wwenetwork 2m MLBAM, WWE’s tech partner, was overwhelmed and its systems have been unable to process most orders since 9 am due to demand for WWE Network.
WWE Network @wwenetwork 2m MLBAM has been working aggressively to resolve this issue.

Shouldn't you be busy saving dogs from migrant workers? I already put the system in action. Definitely didn't plan on that today.

Just got signed up and tried to watch a few things. Nothing is loading up. I have one event load up, but then kept buffering every 10 seconds. After that, I couldn't get anything to work. I'll try later.

It seems like even companies with a great infrastructure struggle with these situations. I wonder if it would have made sense to do it in tiers. Maybe even research if you could charge more to be one of the first. Make it so that people not only want to buy your product, but are in a panic if they can't be one of the first. Especially the clients WWE is marketing to. You could possibly create more a frenzy, and limit the stress.

Definitely ways to do it better. People sign up with their email address and they send out 1000 invites at a time to control the flow and not DDoS themselves. Noobs.

Looking at the WCW PPVs, there is an inordinate number of Scott Steiner pictures on the video link.

It was very easy to signup, but I can't get any videos to play. Perhaps I need to finish my work for the day instead of watching Capital Combat.

There's a WCCW episode from 1982. Kevin Von Erich takes on Wild Bill Irwin in the Main Event. The Fabulous Freebirds vs. Gran Marcus and the Destroyer. Great Kabuki and more.
