Is that Eli Manning in that pic? Yes. Vince and Archie made a trade.

So I’ve been watching RAWs from 96 and I’m in May.
Pretty crazy the amount of time they spent on the Billionaire Ted skits. It was an hour show back then and like 3 months, the end of their shows every week was 5-10 minutes devoted to that shit. They even told fans to write to the FTC to complain about Ted Turner owning over 50% of programming or some shit. Just dumb.
I found it interesting how Razor was pretty much forgotten about after the February in your house. He seemed to be doing something with Goldust before Mania, but was just taken off TV and replaced with Piper. He was never on RAW again despite having a match with Vader on a PPV.
Goldust smelling Taker and asking what that smell is, is that embalming fluid #5? Haha, fucking hysterical.
Also Marlena > Sunny. I said it.

Also Marlena > Sunny. I said it. I ain't mad at you. 1996 Terri was formidable.

Sunny was hot and at her prime in 96, but I forgot how annoying she was. Marlena just sat in the chair and looked hot and showed how every arena must’ve been super cold.
Sunny was more over obviously, but I’m a Marlena guy.

They really cut back on Todd and more Dok on early 96 RAWs. Then Dok kinda got cut a bunch in replace of just commercial ads for house shows.
I did miss the times they plugged random WWF merch ringside like Diesel gloves, Shawn glasses, posters, and Pogs.
Finally May 96 Mr Perfect came back and really barely did anything. He was involved briefly in the HBK/Bulldog feud, was teased as HBK & Ahmed’s mystery partner to replace Warrior (which was Sid) but he just popped up from time to time.
It was weird. Perfect had so many potential storylines that were just scrapped. I know we’re coming up on the Triple H swerve with Mero.

Shawn and Ahmed just cut a promo about facing Billy & Bart Gunn in si singles matches next week. Ahmed called them Silly & Fart.
Shawn also blew a kiss when Vince mentioned Sunny.
Definitely not subtle at all. Poor Candido.

I think Perfect and Hall had contract issues, failed tests, possible homophobia, and injuries during this time. They were not confirmed or specific to either.

I can't wait till you get to the July 1, 1996 Raw. There is a fucking amazing Shawn vs. Marty hidden gem of a match on that show. Probably even better than their 1993 matches.
I was pretty much 100% WCW at this point so I had no idea this match happened until I saw it on the Network in 2015.

Yeah I got to it. I’m watching maybe 30 mins of each show. To their credit, there’s a lot of wrestling on a 60 min show. To their discredit, most of it is very long and dragging with rest holds aplenty. There’s some gems here and there for sure. HBK/Marty being one. Hell HBK/Leif Cassidy a few months before that was fun too.
Al Snow literally went from Avatar, Shinobi, Leif Cassidy in the span of like 3 weeks.
And then Tekno Team 2000 popped up randomly for two weeks in 96, a year after their debut. They did two jobs and were gone.
Not doing this intentionally but this is coinciding with my Quarantine Files that I recently posted.

The CM Punk documentary is on there now. Maybe it was before, and I missed it. I'm only thirty minutes in and had forgotten how great it is.

Table for 5 with Taker, Godwins, Rikishi & Godfather is on the Cock
35 mins. Because why would you want that to be longer, not that this is a fucking cool group or anything.
But please, more The Bump

This wasn't the network special Godfather told me about (which feels so weird, but awesome to type that), so here's hoping we get that Taker "podcast" series soon and we hear more BSK stories. Maybe Summerslam weekend?

The internet has told me Hunter running creative will double the numbers for Peacock. I didn't hear that during the earnings call, but we know there's nothing to worry about.

Threw on a random Nitro from 99 and it was the West Texas Rednecks live performance of Rap is Crap. Hennig was having so much fun during this, lame it all got scrapped around when Russo came in.
The crowd has shrunk so much since this same time in 98. You forget how quickly things deteriorated for WCW, yet they didn’t realize it. All the signs are there.

Nash vs Sid on the go home for Bash at the Beach. That’s the show where Savage won the title in a tag team match when Gorgeous George turned on Nash after siding with him over Savage a week earlier (swerve bro). This was the same episode with Savage slapping Torrie in the face backstage (Send for the Man Botchamania).
Cut to the night after the PPV, Hogan returns and beats Savage for the title immediately.
This company sucked so much. You forget the trash it really was.

Best way to describe it:
1999 WCW: Boring and bad 2000 WCW: Nonsensical, erratic, disorganized and bad

Haha started the next episode and Savage’s promo as champ saying he’s issuing an open challenge.
Crowd chants Goldberg
Savage: “the challenge is for anyone BUT…Big Sexy Kevin Nash”
Nash, who no one chanted for. Then Hogan came out and not a lot of people cared.

Decided to watch Summerslam 92 in the original order with the dark matches (on YouTube). Kinda interesting re-watch with the 3 nothing matches they got rid of (but Crush vs Repo Man made the cut?). Full card was…
Hacksaw & Bushwhackers vs Nastys & Mountie Papa Shango vs El Matador LOD vs Money Inc Nails vs Virgil Shawn Michaels vs Rick Martel Natural Disasters vs Beverly Brothers Crush vs Repo Man Randy Savage vs Ultimate Warrior Undertaker vs Kamala Tatanka vs Berzerker British Bulldog vs Bret Hart
Such a 1992 card, if that makes sense, but I love it

The booking of this card was strange. They spent the spring and summer building Warrior/Shango, Bret/Shawn, and Undertaker/Berzerker, yet none of those matches happened. Kamala came out of nowhere.

Exactly, it was then billed as The Summerslam you thought you’d never see and they switched everything
Bret was feuding with Shawn Bulldog was feuding with fucking Repo Man Warrior with Shango Taker with Berzerker Savage with Flair LOD with Beverlys
It’s crazy the only feud/main card match not effected by the shakeup of the card was presumably Nailz/Virgil.
Imagine what that card could’ve looked like had it not switched to Wembley? Maybe this or close to it?
Savage vs Flair - WWF Title (Flair wins the title) Bret vs HBK - IC Ladder Match (Bret wins) Money Inc vs Natural Disasters - Tag Titles (Disasters win) LOD vs Beverlys Warrior vs Shango Bulldog vs Repo Nailz vs Virgil Crush vs Rick Martel Undertaker vs Berzerker Tito vs Kamala (dark match) Tatanka vs Skinner (dark) Hacksaw/Bushwhackers vs Nastys/Mountie (dark)

So I’m watching KOTR 93. I forgot how the finish to Bret/Bigelow went
Luna hit Bret with a chair and then literally 90 seconds/2 minutes go by and Bigelow hits his finish and gets the pin. Earl fucking Hebner comes out and says no due to the chair and The Fink said the ref has reversed his decision. Joey Marcella & Earl Hebner scream at Fink and tell him they restarted the match.
Didn’t remember this being overbooked for fucking no reason. Once the match restarted, Bam Bam just put on another rest hold
Main event doesn’t hold up.
EDIT: The last 5 minutes were awesome.
DOUBLE EDIT: Holy shit some of these shots from Lawler in his post match attack were stiff as shit. Bret sort of had a legit gripe to give Lawler a receipt at Summerslam.

They stepped all over themselves with the booking of that Bret/Bam Bam match. It was one of a couple of times they got too cute with the booking in '93. The other one being the Luger/Yokozuna SummerSlam match, where Luger should have won the title clean in the middle of the ring.
Regarding the post-match, I don't think I've seen a harder hit than Lawler hitting Bret with that stool.
