It's sad how much IMPACT gets overlooked when thinking about this. They've been around continuously since 2002 and yet nobody takes them seriously at all.

If WWE didn't go national I wouldn't be a fan. Most here wouldn't either, but it's easy to shit on WWE. There wasn't a single person in my life that encouraged watching wrestling when I was a kid. My Aunt was a casual fan and got me into it. She also got yelled at for it. I wouldn't have fought so hard to watch wrestling if it meant getting to see Vikingo do a gymnastics competition. But when I saw Hogan v Andre in the Silverdome on WGN Sunday Night sports, I had to know what that was about. All of the same arguments were going on about corporate wrestling and that damn Vince McMahon. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch Battle Royal is coming sooner than later. Just like everything is monetized now.

Even when they added every available star, it was a revamped WCW 2000. AEW caught on because it felt like a movement. Fans felt like, and still feel like to an extent, they're part of it. TNA was filling the void left by WWE but couldn't ever figure out how to be popular.

There was a time when TNA had the attention of the wrestling world, but they fumbled the ball so spectacularly over and over again. They could have been what AEW is, but they were so poorly mismanaged in every phase for the first 16 or 17 years of their existence.

But I was also fortunate to be exposed to NWA/AWA/WCCW from my aunt in Wisconsin. She had cable TV then when we didn't, so I had the chance to see all this stuff that was so different than WWF. It gave me an appreciation for all types of wrestling. I hope kids today take advantage of all the options out there and expand their horizons.

I was way more into the WCW Flair/Funk/Sting/Muta story by late-89. But I wouldn't have made it to the NWA without the WWF.

For sure.
WWF opened the gate, and then being exposed to the other promotions blew the gate off the hinges.

This is so spectacularly awful. AR doesn't work and is dumb. And blurring the 4th wall is just giving Vince a 2 way mirror into the Divas dressing room. And Shawn's.

Hearing Stephen A. Smith talk about the night for every match might make the complaining about match placement on the internet seem more interesting.

This could be pretty solid depending on how they do it.

After watching the Cody doc, if he doesn’t beat Roman at Mania this year (should’ve been this year), then the fuck are you doing?
I’m happy they at least showed AEW and The Bucks.
Of course they had Hunter call them a secondary promotion, had to keep that line in.
Shockingly footage of Cody destroying the throne with a sledgehammer was missing.
Anyways, good doc. Not a ton of new info, but I can hear this story over and over and not get bored.

Tony has that perpetual "little brother" syndrome.
All everyone said when AEW launched was "we aren't competing with WWE. We are doing our thing". Ever since then it's been nothing but showing your ass trying to prove you're as big as WWE.
Just be happy with your lot. You aren't WWE and you most likely never will be. That's okay. You have an entire network that seemingly loves what you're doing. You're running an enormous show in London. Be happy.

I agree with the second part of what you said, just be AEW, a lot of people (myself included) flocked to them because of that very reason and stuck around because I very much enjoy the product.
That said, I still think part of Hunter’s ego is hurt that AEW “won” the “war” on Wednesdays over his NXT black and gold. Also there was no way, on a Cody doc they produced about how he came back to them, was someone in WWE not taking a shot at AEW.
If Tony was asked about it, I understand him saying what he did instead of “yeah we’re secondary”.

I see both sides, but I'd prefer if Tony took the high road on things like that. You don't need to respond to everything. You come out looking better when you don't appear triggered. That's something I personally had to learn.

Right. If asked about it, you pivot away and talk about All Out and your excellent relationship with WBD. Ignore WWE.

What was the personal issue? He says it wasn't with talent or anything, so assuming he is telling the truth, it has to be with Tony right?

And Cody should also ignore questions about AEW. Say it was a great time in your career, but it was time for something else. Move on.
Leave the speculating to the fans.

Nick Aldis apparently signed with WWE, but as a producer role and not a wrestler
Interesting. He’s only 36, wish he would’ve signed an in ring deal

Watching Summerslam 92 for the 800th time, there’s so many gems you forget about. Bobby & Vince were top notch this night.
Heenan: Martel does have a way with the ladies. Then again, so does Michaels…so do I.
Vince: What?!? Yeah lady giraffes maybe.
Also if All In isn’t filled with Orange Cassidy foam thumbs like Summerslam was with Macho Man foam fingers, AEW will be missing out on like a million dollar sales and also a great visual.
There were like 80,000 green Macho foam fingers
