I could see this being a shoot if this scenario occurred. They planned to bury Bryan in a match with Sheamus. They legitimately realized they can't do it because of the end of Rumble. They refused to change their "big attraction" of Orton v Batista. Go to Punk and tell him he's now facing Kane in the second match on the card. It will be Bryan in his spot v Hunter. I could easily see him saying "F it, I'm out!" But who knows these days. What exactly is the attraction to this Orton vs Batista Main Event? Why will that increase buys? Batista does nothing for me but I have never really watched him as I was taking a wrestling break. I am assuming this is 100 percent name recognition and trying to appeal to the lowest common denomanator. I thought that with this new network you need guys like Punk and Bryan to thrive. The masses that want to see Orton/Batista don't want to watch this every day. They peeps that like Bryan and Punk will absolutely watch regularly. I'm mostly making a joke about the muscle heads in charge loving big muscle heads. Orton v Batista is not an attraction. It would be a nice third to last match. The "Battle for the Evolution of Drugs" But not as the main. Also, I'm not trying to take both sides here, but it doesn't matter if this Bryan/Punk backstage stuff is a work. Even if it is, it's a storyline being developed from actual thoughts. I guarantee Vince and Hunter actually hate Bryan and Punk. They will find a way to make money with them if it's available. But Daniel Bryan could end up WWE Champion at the close of Mania, and know that Vince and Hunter will roll their eyes.

I think its a work. And if it is, genius. Agreed. When's the last time people gave this much of a shit about WWE? Probably Summer of Punk. But I think that was bigger here. Daniel Bryan is the hottest wrestler since Austin. Could it be in spite of booking? Sure.

Hardly anybody thinks its a work from what I'm reading. I have this feeling it is. They are always talking about trying to come up with news ways to be fresh. To go this far, have AJ tweet that, and then to not do their usual silly coverage of it (which is when we all then know its fake) makes me think maybe they are trying a new way to break the 4th wall. Punk left in storyline fashio before with the belt. This is two months before Mania. One month before the launch of the network. Punk could return that Monday Night and then on the post show - "he's on there live, don't miss it" or some shit like that. This also does allow Punk to recharge a bit. He's been working non-stop lately. Sheamus and Batista can carry the load while he's gone as far as what the higher ups consider "star power" is. God, I hope I'm right. If I'm wrong, this sucks.

I just don't know if they would go Full Work on this one. Breaking down the 4th wall would be huge but it would break down that wall and it will not be rebuilt. Right now plenty of people take the real names/social media stuff somewhat serious so to have that all be a work would destroy all credibility and believability in social media updates from the talent.
I think this is more Punk making a power move when the opportunity presented.

As long as Bryan is still hot, no ending to Mania is good enough unless he is holding the title to end the PPV.
As disheartening as the Punk news is, he has always made it known that wrestling isn't his life.
I also think they will regret combining the titles. To many big egos, one title.

well...they haven't melted the metal. It is quite odd that RKO keeps toting both of them around.

I read many, many times today that the WWE "Unfollowed" Punk's account. At least for me, that gives me a slight glimmer of hope that this is a work. Because I also read that they really don't unfollow a lot of people and that they still follow hundreds of wrestlers that have worked for them but no longer do.

I am all for him leaving but it has to be with a greater plan in mind. It will suck if he is just taking his ball and going home.

I think its a work. All the little details like the unfollow and his DVD coming off Netflix point to well executed angle. Not that there aren't hard feelings and alot of truth to all of the stuff going on, but when he comes back he will be an even bigger star. And he can even parlay it into a mega heel turn as his face run has been a bit stale. This is the most national media has talked about WWE since last Mania. Vince loves it.
Also Hunter sucks.

It should be noted that the March 3rd RAW is at the AllState Arena.

And really when you think about it, the rumored Mania match had been Punk/Hunter in the first place. This program would obviously very easily get them to that match.

Why would they need to do this. The roster is deep and there is a ton of shit going on already.

It should be noted that the March 3rd RAW is at the AllState Arena. Great point and the Raw before that is when the Network goes live. So you have him show up unexpectedly that night. And then you better damn well get WWE Network for our post-show. Then make sure you tune into Raw live next week which happens to be in Chicago. If this isn't a work, its a damn shame because the calendar alone writes itself and give Punk some time off. They are getting a ton of earned media coverage right now with articles mentioning "wrestlemania." I may pull a little investigation tomorrow at work and put some dollars to the pub value here.

Why would they need to do this. The roster is deep and there is a ton of shit going on already. Because this garners national, mainstream attention that Vince craves this time of year. I think they also realize that Batista is not mainstream enough going into mania. If this Punk thing is legit, it will gain far more coverage than anything Batista has done or can generate.

Why would they need to do this. The roster is deep and there is a ton of shit going on already. Ok, well this is crazy but I've done worse. Check this out: If it is a work, then the emphasis needs to be placed mostly on Triple helping out all his buddies all the time (like bringing in Outlaws, Batista, Nash etc...) which leads to atrocities like Bryan not being put in the Rumble. The one aspect that's troubling to me so far in this "story" is there's an emphasis on Punk not being in a main event. If that's true, it comes off as selfish. Not a good look. So anyways: 1. Have Bryan definitely lose in the Elimination Chamber 2. The following Raw is in Green Bay. Have the Authority shit all over DB and tell him he's out of chances. 3. The next Raw is in "Chicago". Have the authority again shit all over DB. 4. Punk comes out 5. Punk challenges HHH to a match at Mania. If Punk wins, Bryan goes into a 3-Way with Orton & Batista. If Triple H wins, Punk & Bryan are fired. (Or maybe just Bryan is fired if Punk is already considered gone) 6. You know how the rest of the story should go from there.

How the fuck does he write so many words? He needs a goddamn editor He lost me after he started dissecting what happened to Punk in the 4th grade, that may or may not have led to all of this.
