Blue Demon Jr vs. Chavo starts us off.
I remember why I don't like Matt Striker. Way too monotone.

Old drunk Konnan is a bad actor. But he's making me laugh.
At least Morrison isn't being called Prince of Parkour.
Prince Puma (Ricochet) is gonna be the guy here.

Eat your heart out Daniel Bryan. Son of Havoc has a dynamic beard.
Now he's fighting Sexy Starr.
This is going to be weird.

Last week, we noted that Lucha Underground did 8,000 viewers for it’s premiere airing. Actually that was just for the 18-49 demo so the show actually did more than that…somewhere between 18,000 to 20,000 total viewers for the first show.
The second episode did 29,000 viewers. The show drew 21,000 viewers for the 18-49 demographic which is a 163% increase from the previous week.
El Rey has to be thrilled with these numbers. Remember that these numbers do not include the airing on Unimas and the El Rey Network does not air on all cable systems yet and many cable systems carry it on their higher tier packages so some fans would have to upgrade their cable packages to get the network. It’s a great start for the promotion. The online buzz probably helped a lot as well.

I may watch episode 2 rather than Raw tonight.
And those numbers are pretty good. Especially for a 3rd tier cable channel.

EVERYTHING IS LEGAL IN THIS WEEK’S EPISODE OF LUCHA UNDERGROUND
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 26th AT 8PM ET/PT ON EL REY NETWORK
El Rey Network will air the fifth episode of their action packed original wrestling series “Lucha Underground,” from Emmy Award®-winning producer Mark Burnett on Wednesday, November 26th at 8:00PM ET/PT. In the brand new episode entitled “Boyle Heights Street Fight,” Konnan questions whether he has made a mistake by putting his young protégé, Prince Puma, into the ring with experienced street fighter Big Ryck as there is nothing off limits in a street fight.
The new 39-episode series combines ancient lucha libre tradition, extraordinary athleticism and a flare for theatrics in each hour-long episode. Every Wednesday, viewers will have a backstage and and ringside seat as masked villains and heroes tell their stories while facing off to battle for wrestling supremacy resulting in programming that is unlike anything else on the screen.

UPDATE: Ratings Intel has posted a new look at Lucha Underground’s viewership numbers. The site reports that the first four episodes averaged 27,000 viewers, starting out okay and jumping with the second episode, but dropping in the next two. Despite the low numbers, the show is actually higher than the network average of 25,000 viewers.
The audience for the show has also been leaning older. The first episode had an average viewing age of 48.9 years old, going to 53 years old for the fourth episode on November 19th. This is actually normal; a show’s audience does tend to quickly rise in average age as younger audiences tend to abandon shows earlier on.
Obviously these numbers don’t include the last few weeks which, as we noted in the original post, had been dropping before the sharp spike this week.
ORIGINAL: Wednesday’s episode of Lucha Underground was the highest yet for the show, drawing 34,000 viewers for the El Rey Network. That’s up over twice the number of the 16,000 that the previous week’s show and nearly seven times the 5,000 that the show during Thanksgiving week had.
Obviously this is good news for the promotion, especially in light of reports this week that the show was in financial trouble.

Good. I love what they're doing. Although Nielsen Media Research needs to fold as a company. they're closing in on a decade of being a useless number that doesn't mean anything in the real world yet still for some reason carries weight with the people making decisions.

- According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lucha Underground is said to be interested in Jim Ross. Lucha Underground would like for Ross to be the lead announcer for the show’s second season, which will begin filming in the next few weeks. AAA would also like for Ross to announce for their English language PPVs. It has been noted that Jeff Jarrett would like to use Global Force Wrestling to bring TripleMania to US PPV, similar to what the company is doing with this weekend’s WrestleKingdom 9 event.

The Young Bucks’ Nick Jackson recently posted the following Tweet, regarding a contract offer they were presented with and ultimately turned down.
According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the offer was made by Lucha Underground, and it was considered to be a very low offer; terms were said to be for low guaranteed money over seven years.
