- Over the past two weeks, WWE has been running video packages, where Bray Wyatt is setting Luke Harper and Erick Rowan “free”. At this time, the word is that the two men will break away from Wyatt, and that the Ascension will be called up to the main roster to be paired with Bray Wyatt.

Maybe they'll be new recruits who need to be rebuilt after getting destroyed by Itami and Balor.

Stole this from 411. It probably describes how I feel better than I can tell you how I feel:
It's genuinely disconcerting to see some older, jaded fans who are completely incapable of turning the smark portion of their brain off for two seconds to just enjoy what they're seeing. Stop thinking about who is getting heat. Stop thinking about who is getting a rub. Stop thinking about who is getting a win back. Instead, sit back, shut up, and simply let yourself be taken over the moment. We get so few of them nowadays that we should be cherishing them instead of taking a hot squash on them because we're far too worried about if the new guy will look as good on Friday as he did on Monday.
The moment was fleeting. Come Smackdown, Rusev will be feuding with Big Show again and the incident with The Rock was in the rearview mirror. It didn't hurt him. It might have helped him. But above all that, damnit, it was FUN. That is what matters.

As much as I want Harper (especially) & Rowan to succeed, I fear they'll get lost in the shuffle if The Ascension does indeed become Wyatt's new team to "save". I would hope not. I like the idea of pairing The Ascension with Wyatt, but I just don't want Rowan & Harper to become an afterthought.
Konnor & Viktor need to step up their beard game if they are getting paired with Wyatt though.
Maybe have The Ascension be the main ones who Wyatt can save while have Rowan & Harper loosely associated with them still? Eh who knows.

It's genuinely disconcerting to see some older, jaded fans who are completely incapable of turning the smark portion of their brain off for two seconds to just enjoy what they're seeing.
I find it even more disconcerting to see some fans who are completely incapable of demanding anything more from the WWE than "Look at this guy who you liked 10 years ago!" And "smark"? How clever.
Stop thinking about who is getting heat. Stop thinking about who is getting a rub.
That's the whole point of professional wrestling. Dipshit.
Stop thinking about who is getting a win back.
No one is thinking about getting a win back.
Instead, sit back, shut up, and simply let yourself be taken over the moment.
Okay. That pop was nice. Now what?
We get so few of them nowadays that we should be cherishing them instead of taking a hot squash on them because we're far too worried about if the new guy will look as good on Friday as he did on Monday.
The reason we get so few of them is because of the dictatorial environment surrounding the product now. The environment that makes it impossible to get a new guy as white hot as the guys who thrived in the creatively wide open Attitude era, which was a result of fans taking a hot squash on shit Vince was throwing out at the time.
The moment was fleeting. Come Smackdown, Rusev will be feuding with Big Show again and the incident with The Rock was in the rearview mirror. It didn't hurt him. It might have helped him. But above all that, damnit, it was FUN. That is what matters.
This is the kind of thinking that gives you Vince Russo in WCW and TNA. "Let's bring in someone who gets the crowd to pop and gets people talking about our show." Then when that guy goes away, is there a new guy who's been built to run with the ball? No. Everything goes back to the way it was. Until the next time Vince decides he needs Rock or Austin to come in and pop a crowd.
Rinse. Repeat.

Lots of people agree with you and I totally get what you're saying. But as long as Vince is around, I guess I've given up on logical booking and just take what I can get. I found that segment incredibly enjoyable for what it was.

I think Don Tiny said it best last night. But I also think he's trying to stay on both Speeps and my good side to get double presents come Christmas. Speeps is exactly right about the lack of direction, needing former stars for cheap pops, etc. I just managed to turn that part of my brain off for twenty minutes to enjoy the hell out of The Rock. "Smirnoff bottle in your Putin?" I mean come on.

I know I sound like JR. But the Rock and his returns haven't helped anyone on the roster, nor did it help the business.
And this is going on 3 years now.
Maybe time to try a different approach.

F4WOnline.com (via Rajah) reports that WWE did not want the Rock doing anything more physical on RAW last night than what he did. This led to no Rock Bottoms or People’s Elbows. WWE did this not only for The Rock, but also to keep Rusev strong.
While a match between The Rock and Rusev is unlikely anytime soon, WWE may consider it again when WrestleMania 31 gets closer.
Take that, Speeps!!

There was a long standing belief that a new guy just being in the ring with someone like The Rock builds them up. But like the Sandow/DX example I used last night, it's not always the case.

Yeah that's a bad line of thinking, although not surprising coming from who gets a kick out of vibrator gags.
Pro wrestling is dead man. We're just here long enough for the death rattle.

Speeps, I've decided you're just angry for some reason. I suspect it started with the fantasy football beating I delivered on your candy ass and now it's just engulfing your life. Well I'm here to help. Just think about this: The massive beatown I gave your Old School squad was only about 25% of the smackdown I laid on the ref.
Now back to this deal. I've watched it 3 times now.
1. Rusev never cowered, backed up or hid from the Rock. In fact he moved closer to him in the encounter. 2. Rusev had a nice little exchange on the mic. No cute stuff like you might get from Cena during a Rock confrontation. Just bad words from a bad dude. 3. Rock was doing his little rap deal and completely cheap shotted and caught Rusev off guard. 4. What Rock did was no different than the times Swagger, Big E, Henry and Show ran Rusev out of the ring. 5. Rusev was never weakened from those encounters and remains undefeated. 6. If anything, Rock was the one that looked like a snatch for having to resort to a cheap shot. 7. Lana is hot.

During tonight’s WWE Smackdown taping in Philadelphia, WWE announced the 2015 Royal Rumble PPV will take place at The Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. The event will take place on January 25th, and it was also revealed the Royal Rumble match will once again feature 40 competitors.
More job guys in the Rumble! I'm actually fine with this again. I could see them having Reigns win so they can really pimp him winning not a 30 man, but a 40 man. If he's healthy, I don't know when he's supposed to be back. I hope they incorporate at least a few NXT guys in it.

This has the potential to be a great Rumble.

What is going to say? That he enjoys burying talent and Rusev was the latest getting too strong a heel reaction and he had to be squashed?

Pffft - squashed. Rock blindsided him and drove him from the ring. No different than what Swagger, Big E, Henry and Show have done.

Just like it was a testament to Miz.
Just like it was a testament to R-Truth.
Just like it was a testament to CM Punk.
But that's not even the point. The point is stop relying on old stars to come in. But the E can't. They can't create a new star. They had to be dragged kicking and screaming to make Daniel Bryan that guy when crowds were white-hot for it.

The Very Latest On WWE Finalizing WrestleMania 31 Main Event Plans Posted By: Ben Kerin on Oct 08, 2014 Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter
Speculation has been rife all week that WWE have "set in stone" the main event for WrestleMania 31 on March 29, 2015 at the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California which will see Brock Lesnar defend the WWE World Heavyweight Title against Roman Reigns.
Furthermore to that, WWE are looking to finalize plans regarding main events involving two special stars, likely The Rock and Sting.
WWE is currently building toward a match between The Rock vs. Triple H, although Sting has noted Triple H would be his second choice if he couldn't have a match with the The Undertaker.
Another match that has been discussed is John Cena vs. Rusev.
While the speculation suggests the main event is "set in stone" it would be too early to confirm any of these matches five months before the event. In all likelihood there will be several significant changes right up until the last moment.

I actually am in your corner here KS. I thought the fact Rusev was in the same ring with The Rock only elevated his importance in the WWE. Speeps has gotten god damned grumpy

I would absolutely love to see these guys go toe-to-toe one time. I think I'm the only person here who has enjoyed the Rock every time he comes back. Part-time status doesn't bother me at all. Same goes for Lesnar.

- It was previously reported that WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar may return for a quick feud with Big Show but apparently that’s not happening. Lesnar is not scheduled to return until January to begin promoting his Royal Rumble title defense, likely against John Cena. We noted before that Cena may face Rusev at WrestleMania 31 and this would be a good set-up for Rusev to cost Cena the match.
– The top sellers for WWE merchandise at last month’s live events were, in order, John Cena, Roman Reigns, The Usos, The Wyatt Family, Brock Lesnar, Sting, Sheamus, Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose and Hulk Hogan. Cena is beating everyone else by a long shot. There’s a feeling that live event merchandise sales better reflects who should be pushed because the purchases are made by more casual fans and more merchandise is sold at arenas than on the internet.

If Lesnar is out until the Rumbel, that's bad.
You had all this momentum after Summerslam. Not anymore.
And you can't have your champion gone for 4 months. Have Lesnar show up at a UFC event and toss the belt in the trash. That'll put buts in the seats.
