Best of Super Juniors Update
Despy vs DOUKI TJP vs Ishimori
Those are the semis with the winner getting SHO at Dominion. His matches are always the fucking same anyways, House of Torture stuff for weeks and weeks until it blows up in their face or he just retains again.
Ishimori vs Hiromu and also Eagles vs DOUKI from this morning were excellent.
Also have become a big Drilla Moloney fan throughout this tournament. He & Clark Connors hopefully will split off as a team down the line (not now) and both could have strong singles runs.

Stardom girls crushed it and was my favorite match of the show. After everything that’s gone on in recent weeks, this was a big showing for both ladies. Mayu Iwatani retained her title over Mina Shirakawa (who I’m officially in love with, my goodness she’s lovely) Hopefully we get more Stardom matches on NJPW shows. Just wanted to point out my love of Mina dated back longer than you mopes. Respect the dibs!

Dominion matches were fine.
Despy finally won the BOSJ tournament and will face SHO at the next show for the title
Mox thankfully retained over EVIL and will now face Naito at Forbidden Door. Hopefully Naito wrestles with his shirt off because if it’s on, he’s in phoning it in mode and they don’t want that.
TMDK won he IWGP & Strong tag titles.
Hikuleo also is rumored to be done with New Japan and expected to join The Bloodline soon. He’s still super green, but they’ll make him a star. Good for him.

Also I believe the winner of two tournaments will round out each block, making it 20
Very happy Takeshita is in. I wonder who the final guys are?
Far more competitive field than recent. We don’t have Yano matches or Yujiro.

If Moxley is still the champ, then this will be the first time in a while that the champ isn't in the tournament.

I really hope they don’t have Mox lose to Naito on the AEW PPV. That’d be just dumb.
Have whoever wins the G1 face Mox at WrestleKingdom and win it then

Get Umino the win in the G1 and then beat Moxley at WrestleKingdom.
They have to pull the trigger on a newer guy.

Yeah Shooter is the most logical. Being Moxley’s protege, this is his year.
Unless they go back to Tsuji
It just doesn’t need to be the old guard of Tanahashi or Naito anymore.

The play in tournaments for the G1 Blocks are underwhelmingly as follows…
Yoshi Hashi vs Chase Owens (winner gets Ishii) Callum Newman vs Yujiro (winner gets KENTA) Winners of that block advances to the G1
Toru Yano vs Boltin Oleg (winner gets Tanahashi) Kojima vs TJP (winner gets Taichi) Winners of that block advance to the G1
Thought some outside guys would’ve been fun to throw in there, but to no avail. TJP would be cool, so would an upset like Newman, but I’m going Ishii & Taichi

Well Newman & Oleg advanced to the G1
No Ishii, Tanahashi, Taichi or Yoshi-Hashi this year, which, aside from Ishii, is probably for the best
This G1 is pretty much filled with the future of New Japan, so it’ll be big in terms of what folks can expect going forward.
Sabre is my pick, but the new 4 Muskateers desperately need strong showings. Tsuji, Narita, Umino, Uemura

It's honestly about time. They had to find out who the next guys are. Get them out there and see who connects and gets over.

War Dogs has a hell of a young gun faction right now. I would not say this had Lee joined House of Torture, which is in fact, the worst.
David Finlay, Gabe Kidd, Drilla Maloney, Clark Connors, Jake Lee

They've done a real good job of finally remaking Bullet Club using these young guys. War Dogs "invading" AEW could be really awesome.

Sabre advances to the A Block semis and will face the winner of Shingo & Great O-Khan to determine A Block winner. Pretty interesting that Naito didn’t even make it to the top 3 of his block considering he’s World Champion.
B Block is so jam packed still. They’ll determine that tomorrow and see who advances to the B Block finals.
I’m hoping for Sabre vs Takeshita in the finals with Sabre winning it all and hopefully the IWGP Title at WK

G1 Blocks have wrapped, it comes down to
Shingo vs O-Khan (winner faces Sabre) Takeshita vs Tsuji (winner faces Finlay)
This will be the first time in 13 years that someone other than Okada, Naito, Tanahashi, Omega or Ibushi will have won the G1

Shingo beat O-Khan Tsuji beat Takeshita in arguably the match of the G1
So the semis come down to Sabre vs Shingo Finlay vs Tsuji
Takeshita is eliminated but came off like a fucking star in this tournament. AEW needs to capitalize on him as a main eventer when he returns. Enough tag matches and nothing burger squashes (which rule, but don’t accomplish much). Make him a champion.
As much as I want Zack to win the G1, if you want to go with youth, Tsuji winning the G1 and beating Naito at WK to usher in a younger era in NJPW could be the way to go

Sabre winning would not be a good idea. Time for the youth movement.

Tsuji makes the most sense. They need a young Japanese guy to be the champion and build him up like they did with Okada.

Out of the new 4 guys that New Japan has, I think Tsuji has the best look of them all and has been having real good matches. He can definitely carry the torch.
Shooter Umino has been solid Yuya Uemura is coming along nicely Narita has the ability, but he’s stuck in House of Torture purgatory where damn near every match of his is hampered by bullshit
I still get a kick out of Tsuji’s finisher and nickname being Gene Blast. It’s still either a rejected NXT name or someone’s ornery uncle.

Well it's Tsuji and ZSJ in the final.

The second half of Tsuji & Finlay picked up and the crowd really got behind Tsuji, when he used Uemura’s Deadbolt to lead to the Gene Blaster.
Sabre & Shingo was a fucking technical clinic. Sabre has turned into this huge fan favorite who celebrated in the fans post match. Shingo submitted.
Sabre said if he doesn’t win this G1, this whole time in New Japan will have been meaningless. Tsuji meanwhile, would usher in a new generation.
Can’t wait to watch it tomorrow morning

That was a final.

Good final, but it felt like after such a slow start, just when the crowd started to kick into a major gear around the 28 minute mark, the match ended.
Sabre also wanting his title shot earlier than WK makes it obvious they have other plans for January 4th. Naito is not the same Naito anymore, so taking the title off him earlier so you can build Zack vs someone else at WK would be fine.
Tsuji should’ve won, but I guess they wait another year?
Wait is the last word needed for New Japan at this point after everyone has left
