Not surprising.
Punk has a name and Gall was a relative unknown.

Yeah I hope he got a bonus or something. He didn't. Stipe/Overeem/Andrade/Medeiros all got the bonuses for performances & fight of the night.
UFC absolutely robs their performers in terms of cash (which is why fighters like Rory MacDonald left and also why Luke Rockhold has been turning down fights, because the money offer is awful). The whole Reebok deal also cuts fighters off at the knees too (especially younger fighters) because it definitely limits the sponsorship money they could possibly be getting.
Punk made 500K, but I'm not even sure if that's on top of whether he made more money from PPV revenue.
I'd get my ass kicked for that much money for sure! Not sure about the whole exploding ear thing he has going on, but shit, pay me enough, go right ahead!

This isn't really a big deal, as identified by the number of buys needed to justify the payment. Draws draw.

That has to almost be a paycut from his days at the E. Sure it was only 2 minutes of getting his ass handed to him but he had to train for a freaking year to get his ass handed to him.

He trained 2 years. Trained one, had back surgery, trained another. I'm not trying to justify it, because why turn down that kind of money, but it was the UFC who wanted to throw him to the wolves. They wanted to exploit this as much as they could & as fast as they could because of his age. You could've milked this thing for YEARS, building him up in small shows, having the ups & downs a new fighter has in his career. Instead, they opted for the one time payday.
I don't blame Punk for wanting to go big or go home (so to speak), but now that he's "gone big", where do you go from here? Not getting any younger.

Estimating UFC 203 will get between 650,000-700,000 buys.
Most of any card without McGregor, Rousey, or Lesnar since UFC 183.
Most people expected this card to get 300,000-400,000 buys.

Punk is a major reason it did that many draws too. Sure it had the heavyweight title, but Stipe isn't a known draw. Werdum/Browne wasn't drawing anyone either.
Definitely chalk it up to wrestling fans being interested in seeing what happened.

Yep.
UFC 198 where Miocic took the title off Werdum only pulled 350,000 buys, and that was with a packed undercard featuring Vitor Belfort, Shogun Rua, Cris Cyborg, and more.

I think this is more a boxing thing but whoever Adrien Broner is, he's strongly hinting at taking his life this afternoon both on twitter and Instagram.

The biggest card in UFC history is this weekend. At the presser, there was another clown event with Connor. This shit has to be staged, no way he can really be this dumb.

Miesha Tate just retired after she got beat by Rocky Pennington by unanimous decision.
Rogan asked her if her decision was because of the result of this fight & she said yes.
Was never a fan of hers. Couldn't stand her.

I'll correct myself, I liked Miesha in Strikeforce. Didn't like her in the UFC. I know she's popular, but I just never got on board.
There has to be more of a reason behind her retiring. She made it seem like it was just because of this loss. I bet she comes back.
Weidman vs Romero up next. 2nd fight on the main card. Holy shit this card is stacked.

I wanted Weidman to win that one so badly. Romero just is so arrogant & he hides it behind the whole religion thing.
Loved Bisping flipping him off after the fight.
Romero knocked the fuck out of Weidman though. Ref let Weidman take like 4 unecessary shots. Yamasaki sucks.

Joanna Champion is a fucking beast. Karolina is tough as hell. Champ was rocked in the 4th, but dominated the other 4 rounds.
Really entertaining 5 round title fight.

T-Wood vs Wonderboy was a friggin great 5 rounder. split win for T-Wood. 2 judges had it 47-47 another had it 48-47.
Conor vs Eddie up next!

Conor just steamrolled Alvarez. Dropped him 3 times in the 1st, then picked him apart in the 2nd. Every time Eddie threw a punch, Conor countered immediately.
Say what you want about how much of an arrogant dick he is, but motherfucker can back it up.
Would like for him to actually defend his Featherweight title next, but who knows.
Hell, T-Wood vs Conor, set it up. Milk this thing for all it's worth.

So the UFC didnt bleep any curse words on the replay of the press conference 2 days ago on FS1, but they just bleeped the fuck out of everything Conor was saying post fight with Rogan.
Then put up a disclaimer apologizing for anyone offended by some of the words they might have heard.
IT'S FUCKING PAY PER VIEW & YOU'RE WATCHING PEOPLE BEAT EACH OTHER UP!
Stop being such pussies!

Entertaining night of fights. I was watching on Comcast, and they didn't have Connor beeped out, you heard all the f-bombs. Don't want to see Connor at 170, he's not the same fighter. He should either fight Aldo or Khabi. I think Khabi may kicked the shit out of him. I actually called that Tate would retire. She always considers it when she loses, and with losing 2 in a row, it was a easy call. I think she will be pregnant within a 3 months. Some of the commercials they aired in the prelims with Ronda made me question her fitness. She was looking rather chunky.
