I'm saying this is part of a tradeoff whereas Ronda Rousey vs Charlotte at Summerslam happens. Not a horrible speculation.

I clicked on the interview to listen, but it's absolutely unbearable. The lag between question & answer, the complete lack of enthusiasm or interest in both question or answer as well. I tried, but I'll just take the Observers word on it.
There was a point in like 2011 where I think he could've been a comedy World champ for at least a week or two, just to switch things up. He was the last in the Rumble, won a battle royal I believe to get a final spot in the Elimination Chamber, which he ended up being the last person in next to Daniel Bryan. I would've believed it. Bryan was the new heel on Smackdown, just starting with the AJ stuff, so it definitely wouldn't have surprised me had they done just a couple week deal with Santino. Especially in that period between the Chamber & Mania.

WWE has apparently been reaching out to a number of former WWE Superstars about possibly returning to the company.
According to a new PWInsider.com report, with the WWE draft coming in just over a month, additional talent is needed to help fill out the RAW, SmackDown and NXT talent rosters.
While there is no word yet regarding who specifically has been contacted by the company, it is worth noting that both Tajiri and Brian Kendrick were brought in to take part in the upcoming WWE Cruiserweight Classic and could be part of the talent acquisition initiative as well.

Do they really need to hire more wrestlers? They already have so many that never are on TV as it is. They should focus on making things better with what they have than hiring has been's.

There is no need to get former wrestlers (unless it's EC3) for the draft.
Hire the next wave of NXT from the indys and let the guys currently there who are ready come up and shine.

A professional wrestling legend and his girlfriend were both busted for beating each other up, police said. Jerry “The King” Lawler, 66, and his 27-year-old girlfriend, Lauryn McBride, were arrested on domestic assault charges Thursday after cops were called to their Memphis home, Fox 13 Memphis reported.
Lawler and McBride, who have been living together for the last five years, each told the cops that the other had started the violent fight in the kitchen, leaving police unable to determine who the aggressor was. McBride claimed her beau shoved her up against the kitchen counter and hit her in the head. He then went upstairs and brought down a handgun.
“Go ahead and kill yourself,” he allegedly told her as he put the weapon on the counter.
But Lawler said McBride was the attacker: claiming that she scratched his face, kicked him in the groin and chucked a candle at him in a drunken rage. She also fetched the handgun from the house’s garage and placed it in the kitchen, he said.
