Really fun interview with Max
“I’m still not 100%, I had to come back because I don’t know if you noticed this, but the show without me…fucking blew a bag of dicks.”

Okada was the face of New Japan for over 10 years and carried the company as their top guy for that span.
Do I wish he was in the World Title picture and wrestling more often in AEW, of course, but dude has busted his ass for a long time, it’s cool to see him having fun.
Great song choice

Speaking to Love-Spo, Michael Nakazawa gave an update on Kenny:
Interviewer: First of all, I would like to ask about Kenny Omega's illness and progress, which has been a concern for many fans around the world, not just AEW fans. This took fans by surprise. Later, Kenny himself, who is on his sickbed, announced on social networking sites that he has a serious disease called “diverticulitis,” which has caused much concern. I think that asking Mr. Nakazawa, who has been by Kenny's side both publicly and privately, is probably the closest to the truth in the world, but can you tell us about Kenny's illness and his recent condition?
Michael Nakazawa: To be precise, it is a disease called “diverticulitis of the large intestine,” and it is a nasty disease that can be fatal if it is not treated properly. Kenny became aware of his symptoms just after a match in Canada, where his parents live. He was suffering from severe abdominal pain and was unable to enjoy his trip home at all, and the pain did not subside even after he returned to his home in Orlando, Florida. I accompanied him to the hospital at that time, and it turned out that he was so seriously ill that the doctor told him that he would have been in danger if he had come a few days later.
Fortunately, he was able to find a good doctor who could treat it without opening his abdomen, and just recently he underwent surgery and is currently recovering. However, it seems that the surgery involved removing about 25 cm of the affected colon, and he is now unable to put strength into his abdomen. However, I was impressed when I saw him walking on his own, even though it was a major surgery that would normally make it difficult for him to walk. By the way, Kenny has a cat named Dobby, and since he couldn't bend down to clean his litter box, I went over there and helped him (laughs).
(Laughs) After that, little by little, he has been able to do physical training. He is still not able to lift the same weights as before, so he is trying to find the best training that he can do while incorporating rehabilitative elements such as walking and exercising in the pool, and he is working hard toward recovery. He is trying to find the best training he can do at the moment.
Interviewer: Thank you very much. I don't think you can find such detailed information about Kenny's current condition anywhere. As fans, we don't have this information, and there are irresponsible discussions like, “When is Kenny coming back to the ring?” But I think it is very valuable to be able to tell you here that we are not talking about that kind of level of information in the first place.
Nakazawa: That's right. Since there is no power in the abdomen to begin with, there is a concern about whether or not one can perform in such a state. The impact is physically quite strong, so you never know how it will affect your internal organs. So I can't say anything about when he will be able to return to work.

40,000 capacity. Probably more for a wrestling event I would imagine.

Probably smart to take a break from Wembley next year before returning in 2026. 2 is fine, 3 in a row is overkill.

Jim Ross looks like 2024 Kevin Nash and 2024 JR smushed together.
I really like this idea and agree with randomone. Three Wembley shows in a row would be too much. Plenty of time to sell it and sell it as an experience, not just a wrestling show.

Love Max shitting on the WrestleTalk boys to their faces for pumping the WWE lie that the Wembley number wasn’t accurate and Ospreay nearly got his tattoo covered up because of it. This was a fun overall interview, but this moment was my favorite

MJF should honestly just shut up about WWE. He comes off as "less than" when he talks about them.

I'll go a step further and say no one from AEW should mention WWE ever. But hey, if even Tony doesn't adhere to that, I don't expect anybody else to.

81,000+ was the number of tickets sold. 72,000 was number of people in the arena, wasn’t it? That’s what I thought. I didn’t look into it much after seeing that. Of course AEW is going off the bigger number.
Max put over Hunter, Cody & even Shane, to an extent. He was in character the whole interview.
If they allow interviewers to ask WWE related questions, then I’m fine with it. As long as it’s not “fuck WWE”. That helps no one.

AEW has proved me wrong before but for having a hell of a time to fill a 2,500 seat building in Texas and now go for a 40,000 seat venue in the same area seems ambitious or misguided. It’s their Wrestlemania so I know they’ll be more than fine, but it’s not like Texas has been a boom market for them whatsoever. It’s an interesting choice…in the middle of the summer in Texas.

Great video package on the history of the Tiger Driver 91 and clips from Misawa using it.
HOWEVER, as much as I’ve enjoyed this, Ospreay should never have gone for the move against Swerve at the PPV. He yelled for it and tried it, Swerve countered. It wasn’t like Ospreay couldn’t pull the trigger, which should’ve been the case, especially since this happened post Danielson match.
That criticism aside, when Ospreay ultimately hits this on Max at Wembley, the crowd will lose their fucking minds.

Report: WBD Recently Made AEW Another Offer August 20, 2024 By Colin Tessier
According to a new report, Warner Bros. Discovery recently made AEW another offer. Sources say the offer is at least double AEW’s current deal.
AEW’s media rights are coming up this year. The company has been negotiating with Warner Bros. Discovery for a new deal. As previously reported, AEW’s Tony Khan was set to meet with WBD’s David Zaslav in Paris during the Olympics.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that WBD sources confirmed that there is some “red tape” to deal with. However, these sources said that another offer for a long-term deal was recently made, and they were very confident in it. Sapp writes that Khan’s meeting with Zaslav was said to be considered productive, and the offer came after that.
Sapp cites one WBD source who called the offer “extensive” and said that it was in AEW’s hands. AEW is reviewing the offer, and both sides seem to be optimistic about reaching a deal. There is no word on when an announcement could come.
The report also cites sources who say that AEW has been offered “at least double” the amount of their previous deal, though the meaning was unclear. The exact numbers for the latter are unavailable. It is also important to note that the existing deal has substantially evolved over the duration.
More Details Per Sapp, sources say that “any and all combinations and possibilities” regarding AEW’s programming lineup have been explored. Furthermore, Sapp references rumors that WBD had discussed a “shift in PPV strategy” regarding AEW, but they did not respond to comment. As previously noted, WBD reps had said that Max was in mind when they negotiated any deal, and WBD had inquired about possibly putting AEW pay-per-views on Max as of last year.
Sapp writes that sources on both sides have claimed that they have had ongoing discussions about reaching a new deal, adjusting the current one, and working together in the future since last year. Per Sapp, sources on both sides expect the relationship to continue for years.
AEW’s deal currently runs through the end of the year. WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.

Good for them. I wouldn't be quick to tie my future to David Zaslav and WBD, but if the money is really that extensive then you have to take it.

Apparently Ricky Starks’ contract expired in July and he’s been a free agent since. Probably not since, but you know what I mean. He’ll debut for WWE soon.
If it’s for NXT (which, if you want folks to maybe check out your new CW show, have him on it) then it’ll be maybe even next week at No Mercy.
If it’s WWE, fuck it, throw him in a program with Cody out the gate and make him a star immediately.
