Kenny Omega voted into Observer HOF already 😂
“Reporters” he ranked first 🙄 Historians 8th Retired wrestlers not ranked
This says a lot and backs my thoughts on all of these wrestling “journalists” and reporters.

Been listening to the 2 part "6:05 Podcast" discussing the Observer Hall of Fame and it's very interesting hearing everyone talk about their votes and how wrestling needs more historians.
It's super long (part 1 is over 4 hours) but the discussion between different panels is great.

It's super long (part 1 is over 4 hours) but the discussion between different panels is great. Care to share some some takeaways? The big ones are: there is recency-bias and an anti-WWE bias. I think everyone I've heard so far has been considered a historian, and nobody had Omega on their ballot this year (one guy had him on last year but left him off this year). Kota Ibushi was on a couple guys' ballots. Randy Orton got a vote from someone too. Another takeaway from part 1 is there seems to be a consensus need for a "veterans committee" to put guys in who deserve it based on their careers but will not get the percentage of votes needed.

I’m not saying he shouldn’t be there someday but it’s just silly. Sting got in four years ago 😂😂😂
Dave is stacking the court.

Wrestler of the Year: Jon Moxley Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Year: Kenny Omega (beat Ibushi by 56 votes) Tag Team of the Year: Young Bucks Promotion of the Year: All Elite Wrestling MMA Most Valuable: Khabib Nurmagomedov Most Outstanding Fighter: Israel Adesanya Best on Interviews: Eddie Kingston Best Weekly TV Show: AEW Dynamite Pro Wrestling Match of the Year: Omega & Hangman vs The Young Bucks - Revolution Worst Match of the Year: Braun Strowman vs The Fiend (Goldberg vs The Fiend was a close second) MMA Fight of the Year: Weili Zhang vs Joanna Jedrzejczyk
US/Canada MVP: Jon Moxley
Mexico MVP: Rey Fenix Hodge Award Non Heavyweight MVP: Hiromu Takahashi Women's MMA MVP: Amanda Nunes Feud of the Year: Jon Moxley vs Eddie Kingston Worst Feud of the Year: Braun Strowman vs Bray Wyatt Most Charismatic: MJF Bruiser Brody Memorial Award Best Brawler: Jon Moxley Most Overrated: Bray Wyatt Rookie of the Year: Pat McAfee (Anna Jay was second) Best TV Announcer: Excalibur (Kevin Kelly was second) Worst TV Show: Monday Night RAW Promoter of the Year: Tony Khan with 1,056 votes (Dana was second with 40 votes, Sanshiro Takagi got 21, Harold Meij with 17, Joe Koff & Brett Lauderdale with 16 each and finally Vince with 14) Best Gimmick: Orange Cassidy Best Wrestling Move: Kenny Omega's One Winged Angel Japanese MVP: Tetsuya Naito (surprisingly beating Ibushi by 42 votes) Europe MVP: WALTER Women's MVP: Bayley (beating Maya Iwatani by 20 votes) Best Box Office Draw: Conor McGregor Most Improved: Britt Baker Bryan Danielson Technical Wrestler of the Year: Zack Sabre Jr. (seventh year in a row winning, funny enough Daniel Bryan got second) Best Flying Award: Rey Fenix Most Underrated: Ricochet Best Non-Wrestler: Taz Worst TV Announcer: Michael Cole Best Booker: Tony Khan with 1,022 votes (Gedo with 149, Nosawa Rongai with 37, Rossy Ogawa at 22, Paul Levesque at 14 votes) Worst Promotion: WWE Worst Gimmick: The Fiend Best Doctumentary: Dark Side of the Ring Owen Hart
Best Major Wrestling Show: AEW Revolution Worst Major Wrestling Show: WWE Super Showdown Most Disgusting Promotional Tactic: WWE Firing People During a Global Pandemic, Despite Setting Record Profits Best Pro Wrestling Book: Killing The Business - Young Bucks
Who would you have given Booker of the Year to? There's no one else honestly. Vince sucks. Gedo had his hands tied with New Japan this past year. With as loaded of a roster as NXT has, it should be must see TV, but it's not. I almost think Tony won by default. Given all the challenges everyone has gone through in 2020, he's adapted the best to circumstances.

I get it. Dave is an AEW fanboi.
But some of those are ridiculous.
As for Booker of the Year, whoever booked Smackdown.

So Vince McMahon is Booker of the Year? Not a chance. Ed Koskey is the lead writer, but it's Vince's decisions. Smackdown has been fantastic for a lot of 2020 I will agree completely. However, perhaps voters forget at how good SD has been due to RAW being so awful. And since Vince is in charge of both, the negatives outweighed the positives? Maybe.
Also Dave doesn't pick these by himself. As far as I know, he gets one vote. It's a bunch of people who vote. Not sure who specifically though. I'm assuming it's Observer readers, wrestlers, promoters, fans, etc.
I thought things like Match of the Year, Wrestler of the Year, Tag Team of the Year, Best Promos, even Rookie of the Year I agree with because Pat ruled.
What would you have changed? I'm legit curious because with how weird 2020 was, people have a lot of different choices this year.

How were Kenny & Hangman not the tag team of the year?

Yeah these are subscriber voted awards so that makes sense as AEW caters to the Observer crowd.

Jon Moxley vs. Eddie Kingston as Feud of the Year is a joke.

How were Kenny & Hangman not the tag team of the year? I was surprised at first too, but maybe because Kenny & Hangman had only 7 tag matches in 2020? I thought they had more, but I'm going off ProFightDB. SCU, Best Friends, Lucha Bros, Nightmare Family, Bucks, Private Party, FTR.
Bucks wrestled I think literally every team (some multiple times).
I also agree with you Peeps, before AEW, these awards skewed more towards NJPW. Also the Kingston/Mox feud would be Top 5 for me, but certainly not best of the year. It was fantastic, but not long enough to qualify for best of the year IMO
