I just don't get the Spiegel hate. I love when people say he's huffy. In the last two years, I've heard Mac, at least once per show, go all "HMPF I don't know?!?" But he's the loved one. Don't get it. I'm good with Spiegs but I do enjoy the kesha/Spiegs rantings. As far as Danny green & gold goes, I really don't see much love at all for him anymore. He gets crushed in the comments section of any article ever written about him in the last year or two. I vaguely remember a place where he was somewhat loved but can't quite recall where that was. It is called ratings where he is loved.

When Mac and Spiegs first started I liked Spiegs more. It was my first time hearing both. But Divapants has become just too horrible to listen too. He's just the absolute worst.
1. Sensitivity: I get it. The "feelings show" but you don't have to be such a whiny vagina about everything. Holy cow. He got so pissed Mac bet on the Heat with shep and zawzer on board which he funded. Mac was very generous with seeding super bowl bets, show pot, bonuses for the team.
1a. He was such a pansy about fat jokes. Holy cow relax fat pants. It's called busting balls and it's what people do. He freaking cries a river in between his 4th and 6th cheeseburger. When shep zawzer and Mac would talk high school war stories he'd get all pissy.
2. Pay attention. WTF is so hard about paying attention to the guest or partner? Instead he's trying a new chocolate fudge potato chip or dicking around on twitter.
3. Criticize. He's such a fucking clown when it comes to criticizing. Optimist, fine, yea, whatever. But everything is balloons and ponies with this clown. He's so sexually attracted to Jay Cutler it's amazing. The Bulls can do it! The Hawks can do it! Yea go cubs! I'm contractually obligated to say yay go sox! Everything is so happy go lucky I want to puke.
4. Attendance: I like when he's gone to play karaoke. The issue is all the times he advertises they play and the next day where he says it was sooooooo amazing and blah blah blah.
5. He so a pansy. Politically incorrect but he's such a fucking female about everything. Ties to point 1. When he had Reuben he did that "oh man, the world is so different. You just don't understand" horseshit. Dude, probably 50% of the listeners have kids. Fuck off with you have all the answers bullshit.
6. No creativity. What successful segment is his? Over/unders? That's mac's bc it's gambling. Mac let him have it out of laziness. He never pays them off either. Dumb.
7. Assaulting of interns. He always threw them under the bus, told them his jabba the hut ass needed food and yelled at them for getting his 17 item order wrong.
8. Dumb sports thoughts. He hates football, doesn't know hockey, too sensitive about baseball and basketball. Waaaa waaaaa World Series!!!! Why are we talking Thursday night football?!?!?!? He's just such a bitch.
9. Eating on air. Wtf fatty. Seriously? That's professional how? Or good for the listener how?
10. Condescending: mmmmmmmmhhhhhhhmmmmm, *sigh*, you just don't understand. Etc etc etc. east coast douchebaggery showing true colors.

Even though I already took a jog today I had to just hit the gym as well. The though of the sight of Grimace was too much to bear. I literally gained 10 lbs just by reading these posts today.

This is hard for me to say, but Dan McNeil is a pretty selfish person. Unless he doesn't come back to radio, I just don't respect what he did here. The Score bent over backwards for this guy through all of his personal troubles. They stuck with him. They privately and publicly supported him. He then takes off for 3 plus months(?) and then demands a $200K raise and a timeslot switch. He purposely asked for something he knew the Score couldn't deliver on. And if they did, Mac would have decided the price was worth giving up some happiness. If at the end of the day, Mac stays retired - at least for a a couple of years - then I can respect this decision.
If Mac put up these demands to the Score, the station that stood by him in thick and thin. This is a station that kind of let him do whatever the hell he wanted to. If he created these demands he knew they wouldn't succumb to so he could go play elsewhere, then shame on him. I've got this bad feeling that he wants go to 88.7 (whatever its called) and do their afternoon drive. He'll do it for less money. He'll get his timeslot he wants. He'll trade in money for potential work happiness. But, he would have done this in an incredibly selfish way. I can't come around to that. If this happens, any Mac fan who can't see through that bullshit truly is blinded by their bias and adoration for Dan McNeil.
Dan has been nothing but a standup guy to me over the years. He has helped me out or provided advice a few times in my career. I've bounced ideas off of him when I wasn't for sure about something. He also called out Harry when he was being a baby about me looking out for him by trying to smear my name on the radio*. But if this is how he gets to his next gig in a relatively short amount of time, I'm not going to be one of those guys patting him on the back saying job well done. At some point, you have to treat people with some type of respect and loyalty. I'm just not sure he did that with Score management here.

He really wanted that afternoon drive I think. He mentioned that for years. Maybe if he would have had the foresight to maybe not take 50 days of vacation per year and to have such a shitty partner then he would have been in a better position to get that afternoon drive. By mailing it in for these last few years it took away any leverage he may have though he had.

He wants everything on his terms with no compromise. Seem slike The Score surely did their job at being fairly accommodating. He's handled this entire thing very poorly in my opinion. This of course is all base don what we know from the outside.

Sorry Mac but when you put it on cruise control you lost that chance.

Don't even get me started on Mac. What a snake this guy is. I love how he demands the afternoon slot. A slot that isn't open. What a team player.

I can't blame Mac. He's been the same guy for 20 years. Everything he has done has been for him.
I blame his fans who put the "team player" label on him.
He'll have another job at the Game that he'll do great at for a year. Then he'll get mad and complain again.
Rinse. Repeat.

Quite possibly the dumbest fucking tweet I've ever seen. This guy is something else.
Dan McNeil @danmcneil670 · 2h Have loved the art of long snapping since '74, when I did it in middle school. Now @mattspiegel670 gets to work w @patrickmannelly #notfair
No, actually its completely fair. They weren't willing to give into your ridiculous demands. This scenario may actually be the definition of fair.

I didn't read it as a shot at all.
I read as a fucking spoiled man who wishes he could have a show with Pat Mannelly - with or without Speigs. Its about HIM (as it always is) not being able to participate in a radio show with one of his Bears. He could still be there if he wanted to be. Hell, if he had accepted his same overpaid salary they probably could have even added Mannelly for football season. Its more about how insanely spoiled Mac has come off over the last few years. I'm sick of reading shit like this. He's turned more into the "Harry, Fatha" bit than Harry himself.

You really miss Danny Woo Woo and Danny Green-and-Gold don't you.
I wish he would have gotten teamed with Bernstein.
That would've been epic.

Always been a Mac fan. Never really much of a Score or ESPN fan, but a Mac fan.
I hear Ryan's lament about a good guy spoiled. But hey, it happens to a lot of people who taste celebrity. Maybe Ryan is so disappointed because he's such a Mac fan. I get that. He is imperfect, sure. So are we all. So wherever he shows up, I'll probably listen, while paying nearly zero attention to whatever else is on the channel he lands.

I definitely find the Spiegel hate strange if someone loves Mac. Mac does all of the things you guys hate about Spiegel, he's just doing it outwardly. Spiegel is more passive aggressive. That said, I would welcome Mac doing drive at 87.7. Competition is good and many people seem to enjoy listening to him. It won't be my thing, but I might tune in every once and a while.
