Grimace is a huge vagina in all ways. Mac is just lazy and selfish but tolerable to listen to. I doubt I will listen to either.

Hmmmm Former Chicago Bear Patrick Mannelly is stepping down after five months as Matt Speigel’s midday co-host at CBS Radio sports/talk WSCR AM 670, sources said Friday. Mannelly is expected to announce Monday that he plans to drop his full-time duties at the Score but will continue as a Bears pre-game host and contributor during football season. Mitch Rosen, operations director of the Score, declined to comment on changes to the midday lineup. But insiders said the move raises several intriguing possibilities for the station in revamping the show, which airs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. One option could be the return of Spiegel’s longtime former partner, Dan McNeil, who chose not to renew his contract last year and has been off the air since then. Mannelly, who retired last June after 16 seasons with the Bears, was named McNeil’s successor in September. Also considered a strong possibility is the hiring of David Kaplan and David Haugh for middays at the Score. Sources said Tribune Media would be willing to release Kaplan from the remaining 11 months of his contract with news/talk WGN AM 720, where he has been a fixture for 20 years. Haugh, veteran sports columnist for the Chicago Tribune, is a free agent in radio. The Score’s overture to Kaplan and Haugh comes five weeks after Tribune Media pulled the plug on its short-lived FM sports/talk venture on WGWG LP 87.7, known as The Game 87.7 FM. The only program that survived intact was “The Kap & Haugh Show,” which has been streaming on WGNplus.com and simulcast on Comcast SportsNet Chicago. Midday ratings on the Score declined after McNeil left the station last summer. In the latest Nielsen Audio survey, the Score ranked 15th in middays with a 2.7 percent share and cumulative weekly audience of 333,900. www.robertfeder.com/2015/01/30/with-mannelly-leaving-score-midday-job-up-for-grabs/

Spiegel's gotta be sweating something fierce right about now. Well even more so than usual. And your winner, and still the undisputed champion..............

I think Pat wondered exactly why he signed to work harder, everyday of the year for probably 1/10th of what he used to make. Doing the football expert/pregame gig was a much better option.
Hopefully PonderosaPants is shown the door and they go with the Kap and Haugh option...or Kap and Mac!!!

Humongous people have a greater bad smell to good smell ratio than people in shape. It's also interesting on two other fronts. Twoooooooooooooooo 1. Did Spiegel selling Mannelly out during transition completely crush his trust in GlobePants and thus seal the deal? or 2. Did Bernstein run him out after that alleged threat of violence? I'm still going with the studio smell but it's just something to think about.

I really would like a good midday show. Bill Michaels has completely lost me. Can't listen. So bad. Jurko and Carmen are even worse. One of the worst shows in the history of radio. Rich Eisen on 920 is too footbally and has zero local connection as a show. I've been forced to listen to 540 lately and it's only slightly better than what I've already listed. I've heard a ton of the Score midday show lately and can safely say that it blows.

The Unit had a PHENOMENAL interview with Dave Robinson on Tuesday. He had me inspired to go back in time and win the NFC Championship. He made MM sound motivationally inept. Unit is ok....but he is always on notice to get turned off with one bad segment.

No Score: Danny Mac won’t be backposted on February 4, 2015 at 5:00 pm by Robert Feder Dan McNeil won’t be returning to the Score after all. The mercurial Chicago radio personality turned down a multiyear contract offer to reclaim his old job as midday host at CBS Radio sports/talk WSCR AM 670, sources said Wednesday. McNeil had been considered the top choice to succeed Patrick Mannelly, who announced Monday he was stepping down as midday co-host alongside Matt Spiegel, effective February 13. The move was first reported here Friday. McNeil declined to comment Wednesday. The decision means McNeil remains free to explore other radio opportunities, and the Score has to conduct its second search for a midday co-host in five months. “We’re looking at all options,” said Mitch Rosen, operations director of the Score. It’s no longer clear whether one of those options is the hiring of David Kaplan and David Haugh since Tribune Media would have to release Kaplan from the remaining 11 months of his contract with news/talk WGN AM 720, where he has been a fixture for 20 years. Haugh is a Chicago Tribune sports columnist. Kaplan and Haugh hosted middays on Tribune Media’s short-lived FM sports/talk venture on WGWG LP 87.7, known as The Game 87.7 FM. Their program continues streaming on WGNplus.com and simulcast on Comcast SportsNet Chicago. Midday ratings on the Score declined after McNeil left the station last summer. Hopefully this means the princess grimace is out the door. I thought his contract was up this july anyways. Depends what "Multi-year" means. He signed in July of 2013. * * Despite some wild Internet speculation and conspiracy theories on message boards, Matt Spiegel renewed his contract with CBS Radio and WSCR-AM/670 The Score this week, as expected. The multi-year renewal will keep Spiegel co-hosting the station's highly-rated midday show with Dan McNeil for the foreseeable future. The two have been together on the air since 2009. chicagoradioandmedia.com/news/5817-news-notes-chicago-tribune-matt-spiegel-wgn-am-scott-wager-steve-dahl-chet-coppock-more

Mac is out of the running, Kap is now out. Are they seriously going to let Moby Grimace and his boat full of feelings, humanity and days off sink the score to new depths? Might as well go and get Rome on so everyone can hear him break down the lakers and talk to dana white every day.

Just put Bernstein on solo from 9 til 1 and make the station completely unlistenable.

Anybody following my awesome Twitter account would've known yesterday - or maybe it was the day before - that Mackeyfish is going to The Drive. This is wonderful news as there's no way I could even accidentally stumble across him.

I don't know about the ratings, but The Drive would be the most likely FM destination for a Drop In in Chicago. Once again, I'm not a big Mac guy. But I think this could work.

What do you even do on an FM station during the afternoon drive? Don't you just play music? Is he even going to talk about stuff...and will it even involve sports, callers or guests?

He'd probably use the old Howard Stern model. The problem I see is people are listening to the station for music. The people coming over for talk are going to be annoyed by the music. But the combination of listeners that like the new format could work. Asking Mac to live in the past won't be a stretch. The music people should like him.
