1993 Pro Wrestling Illustrated Awards1993 resulted in a transition year for the WWF, so not much hardware for our company. WCW closed the gap a bit this year, but still made some questionable booking moves down the stretch. Their wrestling product in the ring from top to bottom is still a bit better than the F's roster. My guess is I won't be able to turn the corner until WM10. New Japan Pro Wrestling had a great year and the awards below will show that. Wrestler of the Year - Mitsuharu Misawa Company of the Year - New Japan Pro Wrestling Team of the Year - Kenta Kobashi and Mitsuharu Misawa Match of the Year - Steve Williams vs. Mitsuharu Misawa (Double Count Out Finish) - ha Show of the Year - WCW's Clash of Champions in November (That hurts) Veteran Wrestler of the Year - Ric Flair Female Wrestler of the Year - Mayumi Ozaki Indie Wrestler of the Year - Dan Spivey Manager of the Year - Well, it was one of my employees (who apparently I am dating in the gameverse.). This award should have been Jim Cornette's. I'm not crazy about this. Announcer of the Year - Akira Fukuzawa Referee of the Year - Nick Patrick Other interesting note. PWI's Top 500....coming in at #392....Terry Speeps.

While WR might be saving the lives of the Benoit Family and Pillman, we could see a whole new bad deal with Michaels. The booker is nailing Sunny. Wait until Vince and Shawn find out!

Monday, January 3, 1994 Ludvig Borga could become a problem with a match rating like that. Just using him as a transitional opponent for Hart up to Rumble. Much like actual WWE, I might bail on him by 'Mania. He was signed for a short 6-month deal.

Monday, January 10, 1994 Shawn Michaels vs. Billy Gunn was the main event. It received a B rating.

Monday, January 17, 1994 Feeling better now as if Owen Hart can get a B rating out of a match with Borga, then I've got to assume Bret can't do worse. Banking on a good Royal Rumble match grade to carry my event rating.

Saturday, January 22, 1994 Fuck WCW. It's on. I hold Royal Rumble in their backyard. It was rated my best PPV since I took over booking in April of '93. This was also the most profitable PPV I've ever had. I got what I needed out of Borga being a transitional opponent for Hart without hurting any of my other top heels. I was able to sign Ultimate warrior to three appearances over the next month so he was one of the surprise entrants in the Rumble. I kept Vader strong as he and Undertaker eliminated each other. I had wished for a A- rating at least out of the Steiners and the Blonds. This was the first Triple Threat match I think in the history of the WWF. It ended with Razor and HBK both throwing an arm over Bulldog. Hebner called the victory to Razor for getting his arm on a split second quicker. This is how I will set up the two belts and two "champs" heading into WM10. No reason to change the ladder match booking. I'm a bit concerned about Hogan getting stale. I'm hoping I can squeeze enough out of him to get the buys for Mania 10. Thinking about teaming him and Warrior for a match or two against Bret and Owen. Not for sure though. I have essentially 8 shows left until Mania for the build. I want that A rating, but will need my storylines to heat up. Banking on the following matches for the $ draw: Hogan vs. Hart HBK vs. Razor Ramon Vader vs. Undertaker I have 7 other matches set on the card, but could change depending how the crowd reacts over the next few weeks. DiBiase will wrestle his last match at Wrestlemania 10.

Do I do a Steiner Bros - Blonds rematch at Mania or do I look to give them their rematch early on potentially look at a break up leading to a Mania match? I'm kind of stuck on what to do there. If I can keep Scott signed, I could see him having some big PPV singles matches a year from now...barring steroids usage.

Do a big run about how the Steiner Brothers can't wait to regain the titles at the biggest show of them all. Somehow, they DIDN'T have a rematch clause. The Steiner Brothers plow through competition leading to Mania, ultimately being the number one contenders. Have Rick start the match, and Scott never tags in. Huge turn. Nobody sees it coming. Scott Steiner is a member of the Blondes.

Scott Steiner is a member of the Blondes. Love this. The "Somehow" is since they don't have a manager, Rick is in charge of all that "paper" stuff and signed a contract put together by Jim Cornette with no rematch clause. I like Scott joining the Blonds stable as well. I'm going with that booking good sir!

News and Notes Looks like Pat and The Brooklyn Brawler are going public with this. Time couldn't be better with the McMahon Steroids trial looming. Jake Roberts was signed to essentially replace Randy Savage as the ring general veteral to put over younger talent. Management was hoping for hsi program with Shawn Michaels to be a bit stronger than it was. Since the program, Roberts has been hitting up the drugs and alcohol again pretty heavy. Its been affecting his in-ring work and his promos. He went from having a top 3 match at Mania to being somewhere in the middle of the card. Current plan is for him to feud with Crush and see if Crush can be built back up. This kind of comes full circle I suppose in truly "replacing" Savage. Again, I saved Savage from Stephanie... Shawn Michaels meanwhile has seemed to find Jesus sooner. He's been clean and sober since Survivor Series. Hulk Hogan is becoming incredibly stale as I'm less than 8 weeks from Mania now. I paired him with a returning Warrior to try and generate more interest. Warrior only has one more appearance contracted out and that will be saved for Saturday Night's Main Event. Hogan will be going away after Mania so its ok for all the stops to be pulled out to try and get Hogan back over in time for his match with Hart. Bret Hart is doing some of his best work currently. Same goes for Ted DiBiase. DiBiase's injuries are becoming too much for him. Wrestlemania 10 will most likely be his last match. My goal is to keep him with the company as a manager, authority figure, road agent or color commentator down the road.

This can only lead to good things.
Or it'll lead to me being at an autograph table with no one in my line in 20 years.

WCW got an ABC deal? Bischoff is a genius. Bischoff going for the kill earlier on. We've been pretty much tied in terms of ratings and PPV buyrates, but haven't gone head to head yet. Will be interesting to see which night they choose to do the show. I can't see the ABC schedule yet.
