The "We Own This Targaryen City" spin off is going to be lit.

I thought it laid the groundwork well, but some of the casting has me shaking my head. They don't "look" like Targaryens, they just have bleached hair. Matt Smith as Daemon is extremely perplexing.

I think Matt Smith did a good job. Brutal Doctor Who ruling with an iron fist.
Interesting how they portrayed Rhaenyra and Alicent.
Also nice to see saddled dragons. And the subtle changes to the Iron Throne.
Not sure about making Aegon's Conquest be the result of a dream, but who knows.

Watched ep 1. Yeah, it’s going to take a while to get used to Matt Smith being the villain. He was my favorite Doctor. Intense first ep, I’ll stick through with it. I need a new show now that Only Murders in the Building wrapped.

That Otto is a snakey fuck.
Rhaenyra saved the day on Dragonstone. For now.
And Viserys has forced 2 strong personalities together at Driftmark.
All the talk about old men marrying children was uncomfortable. Though King's Landing is about the Kentucky of Westeros om terms of positioning so it does make sense I guess.

You could tell the budget was increased. The characters "looked" more like who they were supposed to be portraying and Rhaenyra especially looked more confident. Matt Smith is growing on me as Daemon too.

Daemon is not to be trifled with, lesser Valerion.
Seasmoke saved the day with Laenor too.

Everything is so poorly paced. The self immolation of Daemon's wife you would think would be a big deal, but no. Just something that happened. The Littlefinger character doesn't come off as cunning but creepy and twisted. And that whole angle at Harrenhal was rushed and confusing as hell. Is Tony Khan booking this show?!?!

I wonder if they have a set shelf life. Maybe like 4 seasons and done. In which case I understand using this season as a basic prequel to the Dance, seasons 2 and 3 as the main war between the Greens and the Blacks, and then season 4 as the end and reconnecting of House Targaryen and impact from the fallout.
