I'm with Drop In. Haven't cared about Ambrose in quite a while. Good for him for getting surgery while on WWEs dime. Hopefully he can go out and be successful elsewhere. And hopefully not in death matches again.

Best of luck to him to ROH or AEW.
Happy that AEW is resulting in wrestlers being offered more money because of the competition. I wished ROH had received the support from Sinclair in the form of a tv deal that would resulted in this happening earlier.

Are we completely sure it's not an angle? WWE putting out a statement months before the guy is expected to leave is fishy to me.
I'd be really happy if he goes out and succeeds elsewhere like AEW or the other promotions, but I can't help but wonder that.

"Ah, shit, they got one over on us!" In my mind, I called bullshit last night. But it's a very believable story. If it ends up being something cool in WWE, do we mind as long as we're actually entertained?

Absolutely not, I'd be happy if they did something different and creative and he stuck around pulling one over on everyone. I was just throwing it out there as a possibility.
Then again why would he want to stay? If he doesn't care about the money, then be a star elsewhere. They've done absolutely nothing with him. He's done nothing noteworthy in this heel turn besides dress up like Bane 10 years late. Be Jon Moxley again and not the dumb "Lunatic Fringe".
Hell reform Switchblade Conspiracy with Sami Callihan for all I care. It'd be better than what he's been doing.

I saw a tweet earlier today that said this has happened (the announcement by WWE) one other time in WWE's history. It was Kevin Nash. He was indeed in WCW after his contract expired. There was a bit of Dean in Trips face so maybe that's where they're headed if it is indeed an angle.

Un-shun
That's where I thought they could be going, a potential Dean/Trips match for Mania. Then all of a sudden they had Nia punk out Ambrose and I don't know what the hell they're doing. It's weird.
Re-shun

Without knowing backstage implications, marriage, etc. Things we'll never really be privy to. Yes, he should allow the contract to run out. Why not? He's made some decent money and there are real opportunities available. Also, he can ALWAYS come back. WWE sunk way too much into The Shield for him to be erased. Unless (bad joke here). His return would be a big deal. Even if he isn't leaving, think about this discussion. We're talking about people possibly jumping. AEW is already doing work. It's a great time to be a wrestling fan.

Hideo Itami reportedly granted his release from WWE. Was just coming to post that. Man, injuries crushed him early in his NXT run, then again. Then the roster got so stacked while he was injured that they didn't do much with him for a while (aside from that fun feud with Ohno). Gets called up to 205 Live and gets lost in that roster too. He had some good matches on the show but it's sadly overlooked. The 4 Way at the Rumble was very good too. I assume he goes back to Japan?

Whether it's the fault of WWE or not, time to let most unhappy people go. They're still WWE. Ambrose is a surprise. But Itami, Revival, etc. Bring in new. Move on.

I would think so.
Would he go back to NOAH or try NJPW?

WWE ROYAL RUMBLE 2018 STAR RATINGS: Roode & Gable vs. Rezar & Dawson ** Rusev vs. Shinsuke Nakamura **3/4 Murphy vs. Itami vs. Kalisto vs. Tozawa **** Asuka vs. Becky Lynch ***3/4 Shane & Miz vs. The Bar ***1/4 Ronda Rousey vs. Sasha Banks ***3/4 Women's Royal Rumble ***1/4 Daniel Bryan vs. A.J Styles **3/4 Brock Lesnar vs. Finn Balor ***3/4 Men's Royal Rumble ***1/4
WWE NXT TAKEOVER PHOENIX STAR RATINGS: Undisputed Era vs War Raiders ****1/2 Matt Riddle vs Kassius Ohno ***1/2 Ricochet vs Johnny Gargano ****3/4 Shayna Baszler vs Bianca Belair *** Tommaso Ciampa vs Aleister Black ****
If you told me AJ vs Bryan was going to be the 2nd lowest rated match of the weekend, I'd think you were nuts. But I agree with it. I honesty thought Shane/Miz/Bar should've been lower and thought Becky/Asuka was 4 stars. Happy the CW 4 Way got a high rating, that was an excellent match.

Stephanie getting involved with the Becky deal made me think about a possible direction for Mania. Ronda (The Rock) v Becky (Conor McGregor) v Charlotte (Hunter and Steph). Tough to see The Rock be on a losing side, but Becky could pin Charlotte in a very underwhelming finish. Keeps Ronda, in theory, from getting booed. Hunter and Steph play the comic heel foils that get beat up. Becky in the ring to close Mania. It's all sooooo WWE.

I'm not rooting for it to fail, but I have a feeling this relationship is going to end badly.
It's now confirmed by a network executive that WWE SmackDown will air live when it moves to Fox on Friday, October 9. However, it sounds like Friday nights may not be a permanent timeslot for the blue brand.
Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier spoke about SmackDown during the Fox executive session at the Television Critics Association press tour this week. He confirmed that SmackDown will air live, which we had reported previously.
"It's live, and what's remarkable [is] these are people that know their audience," said Collier, who admitted he is a longtime pro wrestling fan. "They're great storytellers and I think it fits beautifully with what we're doing."
Gamespot's Chris Hayner covered the speech and revealed on Twitter that Collier said WWE is on Friday nights for the "short term," indicating that it could be moved to another night. Hayner tweeted: "'Short term, Friday night is going to WWE,' Collier says when asked about Last Man Standing. That show could go elsewhere. But WWE being 'short term' Fridays tells me they may move it around."
It was also confirmed that more WWE content is planned for the new partnership with Fox as they look to treat wrestling more as a sport than a weekly, episode TV series.
"The Fox sports networks, FS1, and others, will have some other wrestling--not live Smackdown, not Raw, but other ties to the WWE world," Collier revealed.
There's no word yet on what kind if content they have planned but it was speculated that we will see recap shows and "talking head series" on FS1.
"Short term, Friday night is going to WWE," Collier says when asked about Last Man Standing. That show could go elsewhere. But WWE being "short term" Fridays tells me they may move it around. #TCA19

How important is Saudi Arabia to the bottom line? This shows why they're willing to take the PR hit.

Ambrose and Nia Jaxx matches are being advertised for house shows.
Interesting to see what if anything comes from it.

Just saw earlier today that the E is in Dekalb tonight at the NIU arena. I'm 20 minutes away. Had I known about this earlier I would have gone. I've never seen wrasslin live and in person. It didn't look like a bad card for 15$ tickets.

I don't get people dropping $140 of house show tickets, that baffles me. Don't do that. Unless it's televised and you sit hard cam.

WWE has signed Australian wrestlers Elliot Sexton and Jonah Rock.
Jonah Rock is a fuckin beast. I've seen him in PWG and he's a big boy that can move around like Keith Lee or Jeff Cobb.
Only thing I know about Sexton is that he's the boyfriend of Dakota Kai

I'm still pretty raw, pun intended, when it comes to SEC filings. But does this read like a threat to Vince? "We'll bounce you if you get too football happy."
A recent 10-K SEC filing by WWE includes an article about what the company would do if WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon would unexpectedly retire, suffer a disability or death, or other unexpected termination for any reason.
The filing reads like this:
"In addition to serving as Chairman of our Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. McMahon leads the creative team that develops the storylines and the characters for our programming (including our television, WWE Network and other programming) and live events. From time to time, Mr. McMahon has also been an important member of our cast of performers. The loss of Mr. McMahon due to unexpected retirement, disability, death or other unexpected termination for any reason could have a material adverse effect on our ability to create popular characters and creative storylines or could otherwise adversely affect our operating results. Mr. McMahon has established Alpha Entertainment LLC, to explore investment opportunities across the sports entertainment landscapes, and Alpha Entertainment LLC plans to launch a professional football league in early 2020 . While he has provided the Company assurances that his focus on WWE will not be diverted by these efforts, any such diversion or perception of such diversion could adversely affect our operating results and could have a material adverse effect on our stock price."
Vince has assured the company that he will remained focus on his WWE duties after his XFL football league re-launches in early 2020, as is stated in the filing. WWE acknowledges that Vince's focus shifting from WWE to XFL could have a negative impact on the stock price and their operating results.

The Samuel Shaw acquisition puzzles me. I'm still trying to figure out what his talent is. I remember that godawful segment when Mr. Kennedy Anderson went to Sam Shaw's house and his bedroom looked like a kid's room and he was throwing a tantrum or some shit. Weird TNA "Sportz Entertainment Bro" bullshit. For my money, 2010-2013 TNA is by far the worst American wrestling television ever produced. Worse than 2000 WCW. Come at me!
