I seriously can't think of a reason NOT to like Dave Meltzer. Been doing this for decades. Has provided more content than all other wrestling journalists combined over that time. People shit on his star ratings and yet reference them ALL THE TIME. Has numerous wrestling holds and moves named after him. Has the most legit Wrestling Hall of Fame in all of wrestling. Is a member of various wrestling hall of fames himself. Loves his job. His dedication and longevity is second to none. Takes on his haters with facts and respectful discourse. Dude is fucking jacked. Handsome. Employed randomone. How are we possibly hating on this legend? Jesus Christ dude. How biasedly blind are you? I’m not saying you can’t like him but for you to act like there are no reasons to dislike him? Come on dude. You’re better than that. |

I gotta be honest: I'm not the biggest Tommy Young fan due to his insistence on putting the spotlight on himself at times during matches. It's the reason why I criticize the Hebners, Earl in particular (Dave was better than Earl).
My issue with Nick Patrick was his feather soft tapping of the mat during counts. So many times where there would be a three-count but the crowd and the announcers missed it because Nick hit the mat so softly and no one could hear the count. Then you'd get the awkward moment where you're like, "Oh, I guess the match is over."
For my money, Mike Chioda and Charles Robinson are tied for the best.

I genuinely love when past Dave riles up current Woodridge Honestly its not past Dave. His rating was pretty appropriate back then. The problem is current Dave throws around 3 to 5 star ratings like candy on Halloween - forget the 7-star bullshit. So when you go back, it just throws everything out of perspective. Newer fans that have bought into Meltzer's bullshit online in TwitterX, don't have any idea of what a 4-star match meant at one time. |
