I don't really understand the Meltzer bashing to be honest. I would say he certainly has a bit of a lean toward AEW but he keeps it pretty even keel as far as WWE goes as well. Same with Alvarez for the most part.
John Pollock and Wai Tai talk glowingly about AEW when I listen to their Dynamite recaps. I never really hear about them the way I hear about Meltzer.
Sean Ross Sapp seemingly loves both companies.
But there's TONS of anti-AEW folks out there:

I mean against NBA Playoffs to only lose 36,000 and stay the same in 18-49 is definitely respectable. And the card wasn’t strong either. They didn’t announce their main event until the opening segment. So I don’t understand the Dave bashing in this instance. I totally understand folks on here don’t like him, but for this case, he’s right.
If there were no NBA, then it’d be a different story.
People bitch about Dave to get clicks, simple as that. Go on Cornette/Bischoff’s YouTube and see how many videos have Dave in the title and see how many views he has compared to his others.

It is respectable. I just find it funny he can’t help himself but respond “more than respectable.” I don’t pay attention to him much unless it’s shared with me on the board now, but for the longest time he came off like the Michael Cole of AEW.

What I don't understand is how Colt fucking Cabana is constantly being presented as some kind of paragon of virtue. I'm sure he's a nice guy and I know a lot of people like him, but c'mon. The guy has had a Disco Inferno-level impact on the business, especially at this stage. We're not talking about someone that really matters here. What is with the constant hand-wringing over Colt Cabana?
I could see if Punk tried to come in and piss on somebody like Omega or Mox, but Colt? Really? We're still talking about this guy?
And I still don't believe Punk tried to sabotage him.

A lot of the indy guys are grateful (I assume) to Cabana because he really helped start ProWrestlingTees and helped indy wrestlers get paid. Remember in 2014-15 when everyone started to wear Bullet Club, Steen, Bucks, etc. A lot of that stems from Cabana and his friends at PWT. I also assume Cabana has always been a well liked guy by a lot of performers, so they have his back.
Of course Punk would deny getting Cabana fired, it’s just whether you choose to believe him or not. Why would he come out and say “yeah, I did” and lose trust in a lot of the talent he works with? He’d come across as a fucking baby whose ego wouldn’t allow him to work with someone he hates. The tirade he went on after All Out for no prompted reason didn’t help either. Is what Cabana allegedly did by Punk right, I’d say no, but why put that out there right after a PPV?
I’ve said my peace about how I think both The Elite side and Punk & crew both behaved like fucking children on how it was/is handled, so I’m not siding with either in that regard. Everyone needs to grow the fuck up and work with people. If Punks fans get pissed folks are talking to Dave, that’s fine. But in the same regard, people are allowed to be pissed when Punk has his tantrums on social media and during pressers.
Just drop this shit or turn it into a money maker. It’s annoying.
And Dave is great (I love how he riles you all up), you jackals. #companyman

I am here to say Dave is an insanely biased, petty “historian,” writer, commentator, whatever he wants to call himself. He’s a piece of shit and it’s not that hard to understand that by reading his material or ratings on certain guys. He might be a notch better than the owner of the National Enquirer.
Dave would tell you that that goofy fucking match to end AEW a couple weeks back was better than Hogan-Rock or HBK-Taker 1 at WM. Get fucked Dave, you fucking fan boy.
