I wonder if the part timers and the interns that grimace belittles congratulated him? I forgot to add it. I bet some did.

I think Bernstein has come to a point where he still enjoys his life as much as he can. However, he loathes his profession. He appreciates working, and yes it's work, five radio hours per day. See his kids. Easy commute. But everyone gets bored no matter how great the life. His early dislike for bad callers, sports profiling, etc. has turned into legit resentment. You can hear it. The funny thing is Bernstein has become what he ultimately hated. A caricature of a sports fan. He's the modern North. The station now needs the anti-Bernstein. Then why, why, why does Matty let the worst of the worst callers on. He picks the worst of the worst and sets them up for the firing squad that is Dan. That is the only show I have ever listened to that does that crap. You may get a nutjob here or there and they will get lit up but its not every single caller vs Dan's Known Truths about everything. Someone thinks that gets them ratings. Letting North be a dumbass and making fun of him...an equal...is funny. Berating callers that you purposely screened to be the dumbest of the dumb is not funny or entertaining.

Just a couple things:
- I will say this, it was kind of fun to hear somebody go at Bernstein that couldn't be hung up on or otherwise muted.
- I wish it could've gone longer. It seemed to me that Boers was thisclose to snapping on Spiegel. Now THAT would've been a thing.

Someone thinks that gets them ratings. Letting North be a dumbass and making fun of him...an equal...is funny. Berating callers that you purposely screened to be the dumbest of the dumb is not funny or entertaining. I actually sat in the producer booth for a day, and they really didn't screen anything. If you listen, many of the callers have a point. They aren't dopes. First, they get spun in a web of being on the radio. Second, they either agree or disagree. Now we go to the next phase. If you disagree, you are called a dope for your point. If you have a point, you will be screamed down and forced into a corner. If you can fight out of the corner, semantics will be the game of choice. Dan: Ugh. Terry: Idiot. I think there's more screening now, but that's not how it happens. It's organic. Most rational thinking humans wouldn't call in to that mess. That gives you the idiots, fighters, and newbies.

It seemed to me that Boers was thisclose to snapping on Spiegel. Now THAT would've been a thing. I would LOVE to hear Terry and Spiegel fight about radio, sources, etc. Because Terry's at a point in life where he would love to have an exchange for a bit. But ultimately, they could find a common ground. Terry: Listen you little bitch. I was fat as hell for years. I got my balls broken and I wanted to sit on Mitch Albom's little quaffed deuchebank head. I drank a beer, gave it back, knocked out some kids, and now I'm yelling at your silly ass. Matt: Terry, I, would you consider yourself happy? Terry: Yes, you sputtering bastard. I'm as happy as this screaming clown next to me. That's why I have grandchildren and David Hochberg. Girl Chained to Furnace: Matt: Terry. I love you. Seriously.

There won't be unique caller takes/reactions by 2PM unless news has broken.
The callers aren't uniquely dumb. My favorite is when a caller makes a good point and they just move onto the next caller without addressing it.
My biggest pet peeve is when a caller "confuses" them. 95% of people know what the caller is trying to say but the Duke educated guy doesn't understsnd? Sheesh. They play dumb more often than the callers!

They play dumb more often than the callers! It became really bad a couple years ago. I used to love they were the show that wouldn't let morons ramble, only to say "great call Tom!" No, it wasn't a great call. The guy had a horrible thought, and sounded like a horrible person. But it's morphed into this thing that makes me want to turn the radio off.

Just don't take callers anymore. Their new bit is to dread callers. Well, then don't take any. Just read texts, emails and tweets.
My listening has decreased quite a bit. Really the only time I check in is tranny (should be over. It's run its course), spots where I know guests will be on and 2nd half. I'll give them a chance after those segments mentioned but usually I say, "not this shit again" and move onto music or big show.

They could play along with the dumb callers so easily. String them along without yelling and screaming. I swear they sometimes used to do this and it was funny.

I hate you people for making me back Bernstein. He and the show became so insufferable years ago that I quit listening.
Spiegel was so bad that I never started.

Spiegel is a sensitive fella. He takes things a bit too personally sometimes. But between him and Bernstein, I back Matt 100%. As Drop In said, Dan is an abysmal human being. At least on the radio. Matt calling him on his bullshit was fantastic and I hope it continues with drops on each show and snide comments every day.
Dan Bernstein is a cancer that should've been removed years ago but now is spread everywhere. Spiegs is the new miracle cancer drug trying to cure the Score.
Enjoy backing cancer.

If Grimace weighed 200 lbs I am very confident that he would not have this job. I think he gets all this pity cred because he is ultra sensitive, had some kind of rough life before this radio gig and is morbidly obese.
Dan may have power tripped himself into becoming the emperor of all sports thoughts but his show used to be good and he has talent. He didn't need the pity vote to get where he is.

For two straight days now Spiegel has gone scorched earth on Bernstein with unprovoked personal attacks. I don't find that commendable.
Now if a guy like Terry wants to unload on Bernstein on Terry's last day, well that's a whole 'nother story. At least Terry has a long list of accomplishments. What the hell has Spiegel ever done?

Someone was up all night drinking, yelling or singing with that voice....or else he emptied the fridge and had a sandpaper snack.

Spiegel calls it "The Power of Positive Confrontation". Hmmmmm
1. Calling your teammate a jackass 5 times 2. Calling your teammate a liar 3. Calling your teammate a bad person 4. Questioning your teammate's integrity 5. Calling your teammate a bad teammate
And doing all of this completely unprovoked.
Stick to the snack drafts, porkchop.

All I took away from that was Terry testing the waters for a few minutes to see if Grimace's tantrum had concluded and then they let him discuss positive confrontation so he could feel good about himself and that was it.
